  • @aisukurimsarang I'm so glad you were only on team green for a hot minute!

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: April 26, 28w0d

    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue: pink

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a tropical coconut or an eggplant

Upcoming appointments: growth scan today (see question #2), OB 2/18 for 30w visit

How are you feeling?: Insomnia hitting hard and just feeling tired and uncomfortable in general.

Rants/Raves: Just kind of meh today...

Questions: I have 2 questions for you ladies today:

    1. I had BH contractions off an on yesterday, with the most consistent stretch lasting about 1-1.5 hrs. They didn't get stronger and were irregular, ranging from 2-10 minutes apart. Mostly uncomfortable, but a little painful and I also had a low back ache. I got a little behind in my fluid intake, so after I did some stretching and drank about a liter of water they mostly went away and I felt better. They've not usually been that consistent for so long. I contacted my OB this morning but haven't heard back. Probably nothing to be too concerned about right?

    2. Baby girl dropped from the 45th to the 25th percentile for weight. She is technically still within the normal parameters, and her measurements put her pretty much on track, but that seems like a big decline. I'm a little worried because I really haven't had any steady weight gain, despite my eating a TON, in about 2ish months. Anyone else experienced this, and if so how did it turn out?

GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment with regards to this pregnancy? I think probably my productivity in getting the house ready, and the communication between me and DH.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an eggplant

    Upcoming appointments: Next Monday!

How are you feeling?: Rough. Sciatica is making it hard to do anything, including getting a full night's rest.

Rants/Raves: We keep having snow in the forecast but we keep not having snow, just cold rain. Welcome to winter in NC. The girls are disappointed, and I'd also like to see snow!

    Questions: none today!

GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment with regards to this pregnancy? I've been in such a better place mentally with this pregnancy! I told DH that out of all my pregnancies, this is the first one where I'm excited to have and meet the baby. Which sounds awful to say, but it's the truth. With DD1 I was scared and nervous about everything. With DD2 I was depressed and living in a fog. With this guy, I'm so much happier and healthier and am excited to have him on the outside! In terms of an actual accomplishment, I'm proud of myself for how homeschooling has gone. I was not anticipating a pregnancy when we decided to go with homeschooling this year, but I have actually loved it and feel that (most days anyways) DD1 is really benefitting from it.

  • @bbrahmbhatt, I wouldn't be too worried about the BH! Especially since they slowed down and never regulated. Good call on drinking water and doing stretches. In my experience, true BH will go away with fluids and changing positions! I think it's also common for them to pick up a bit at this point in pregnancy. Another trend I've noticed with BH is that they start down low and kind of feel like they spread up my belly. An actual contraction is just pain all over, either in your belly or back or both.
  • @aisukurimsarang yes! I have hardly done a thing!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:  ...lettuce?

Upcoming appointments:  Thursday for growth scan and check up

How are you feeling?:  TIREDD. Sleep has been rough the last week and I am more tired than usually during the day.  I tried a 20 min peloton ride yesterday and just couldn't...it was very slow.  I do enjoy getting some movement in but haven't been able to find the motivation lately.   I also noticed I was having more trouble than usual catching my breath on the peloton...more exciting and fun third tri things!

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment with regards to this pregnancy?  Similar to @kadeephd probably remaining calm and continuing to work and parent a toddler. So different from the first time around creating the registry and going crazy making sure i had every little thing.  I know what to expect and feel like even if he came tomorrow, we'd be ok and ready!

@bbrahmbhatt re: your #2 question, yes that happened with my first pregnancy but they didn't catch it until a 36 week ultrasound. They didn't give me percentiles at the anatomy scan, but I later learned she was 40th percentile at 20 weeks and then dropped to the 13th percentile by 36 weeks. They said they don't get nervous unless the baby is below 10th percentile. They brought me back for an ultrasound at 38 weeks to make sure she was at least maintaining, and she had dropped to the 9th percentile so they officially labeled her IUGR (intra uterine growth restricted) and I ended up being induced the next day (i was 38.5 weeks, so full term).  She was born at 4lbs 12oz, but perfectly healthy and met all her vitals and spent zero time in the nicu.  I was frustrated because there wasn't an explanation for why it happened. They went through all the standard questions...have you been drinking? smoking? eating enough? exercising too hard?  (all no's!) My placenta was on the smaller side, but they sent it out for testing and all looked fine.  Because of that history they are monitoring this baby's size more closely; he was 54th percentile at 20 weeks and I have a growth scan on Thursday to make sure he's on track.  Worst case is they will monitor your LO more frequently as well, and might have a discussion about inducing / delivering early (they try to wait to 37 weeks) if need be to get the baby out and start feeding her on the outside. Try not to worry though, the good news is more scans and sneak peaks for you!

  • @bbrahmbhatt, it's actually happening to me right now. At my 18w US She measured 1.5w ahead, and today, she's in the 10.4 percentile.

Reading my follow up, I'm now in the March 2021 Birth Club, with a recommended induction of my birthday!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: No idea

Upcoming appointments: Tomorrow for 28 week appt

How are you feeling?: Enormous - like freakishly large compared to the bumps I've seen posted on here. Also very discouraged with my body in general, the size and shape of my bump and all that.

Rants/Raves: My rant is about my body. I'm not plus-size, but I have plus-size pregnancy problems, like a B belly and mother's apron. It just sucks. My weight gain this time around is right where it should be (since I obsess over it and sometimes even semi-diet to keep it down), and yet I'm still circus freak huge and it's very discouraging. I don't know how I managed to win the genetic lottery and have a jacked up fat stomach for the rest of my life, but as a personal trainer, it's not cool. I feel like potential clients look at me and go with someone else because they think I'm too blubbery. Not looking for sympathy, just want to vent. /end rant

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment with regards to this pregnancy? Well I am proud I've kept my weight where it should be, although it hasn't made a lick of difference.

  • @riff323 Girl. I feel this. After my son was born, the "apron" and B belly from the C-section has been so discouraging. And now, the weird lumpy fupa is even more gross to me, especially when I can see it and feel it under my pants. I'm certainly not a personal trainer so I can't even imagine what sort of pressure you must feel but you are definitely not alone. And I also feel circus freak huge. I try to chalk it up to 3rd baby problems, plus the fact that I am short and short-waisted so not really anywhere for baby to go except out. But I hear you on all this.

@runsoncoffee 3 littles 4 and under?! Bless you. I feel like my 4 and 2.5 year olds are going to kill me on a daily basis, I can't imagine having another one too.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: acorn squash

Upcoming appointments: ugh, tomorrow for 3 hour GD test. Fingers crossed I pass.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good today but very, very tired overall. The weekends with my toddlers really wear me out and I need a day to recover from just that!

Rants/Raves: Rave: I am getting my hair done on Thursday and I can't wait. I literally haven't had it done in over a year. It's so gross and long and unhealthy.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment with regards to this pregnancy? Continuing to work out. With DD, I basically stopped doing pretty much everything other than walking. With DS, I kept running but only through second trimester and then I just walked. I'm extremely proud of myself for hitting my 3x/week goal through now. I'm going to try really hard to keep it up all the way through. Having the Mirror with dedicated prenatal classes has been extremely helpful and makes it much, much easier for me to get it done. I actually feel much more in tune with my body (breathing+core work+pelvic floor work) and what it's doing because of the prenatal classes and wish I had done this with my other pregnancies.

  • @bbrahmbhatt I would not be concerned about those BH. That sounds about the norm for my BH. When I had my spell of true contractions a couple weeks ago I now see a VERY clear difference in the two. My BH are whole-belly tightness that starts easy but spreads and gets more intense before relaxing, but the true contractions were low and almost immediately painful; they also stretched around to my back and I had to focus on breathing through them to try to relax. However, it is definitely still good you called your OB. Mine likes to know of these things happening, even if nothing comes of it, just so they have all the information possible in caring for me and baby.

@bblair24 I so feel you on the weather. I'm also in NC and am so over the 40* temps with just rain. It's miserable.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 4/6; 31wk today

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: something bigger than it used to be that likes to dig into my ribs

Upcoming appointments: Next week for the usual 32wk check up. My growth scan was pushed back since so far my measurements seem good.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good overall; the usual hip pain/back aches/BH/fatigue but nothing I haven't expected.

Rants/Raves: I cannot believe its only about 9wk until we meet this babe! We really need to get on top of picking out a boy name..

    Questions: none!

GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment with regards to this pregnancy? Definitely recognizing my mental health struggles, speaking up, and getting the help I needed. I definitely felt pressure to "just deal" with the stigma that tends to still follow mental health, but I'm glad I didn't fall to it. Also proud of keeping up with my 2yr old while working full time and taking on additional coaching responsibilities.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an Macbook Air Keyboard?

Upcoming appointments: None scheduled which is weird...Just had my glucose test last week.

How are you feeling?: Ok - generally achy and tired (I feel like that's my constant refrain). I'm peeing every hour or two during the night, so it's hard to feel well rested ever.

Rants/Raves: I passed my glucose test! But found out I was slightly anemic (which may explain part of the tiredness? So 50/50 lol.

Questions: Anyone have tips on how to get a dog acclimatized to a new baby? We have an almost 3 year old golden doodle who, while very good, can get a bit rambunctious and is definitely an attention hog. We're worried about her with new baby. Any advice would be very welcome!

GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment with regards to this pregnancy?: I worked out every day in January! First time since before I got pregnant that I was able to make that happen. I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to keep it up, but I'm hoping that having started a good pattern at the beginning of the year I can keep it up until I deliver.

@bbrahmbhatt re: BH - I've felt them a decent amount when I exercise, especially if I'm not hydrated as you mentioned. When I went to the doctor last week I asked about it, and she indicated that I "might just have a more irritable uterus than most." (Seriously, irritable uterus? That's a medical term?? Clearly invented by men. UGH) Maybe that's the same thing you're experiencing? It sucks and is definitely scary for me every time I feel it, but it doesn't seem to be concerning to the medical professionals I've talked to so *shrug emoji*.

  • @juliebird6 there are definitely days I wonder what in the world I was/am thinking 😂 fortunately my hubby is WFH and gives me mini breaks in the day if he can! Also jealous of your haircut... its been over a year for me too and is looking bad!! I keep putting it off. Also, also... I just heard of the mirror for the first time recently and am intrigued, do you like it and think it's worth it?!

@riff323 I am so sorry you are having a hard time with your body right now. Try to remember bodies and babies grow the way they want to, doesn't necessarily have anything to do with you! And please be careful with the dieting during pregnancy. Just because you are unhappy with how your body is right now doesn't mean you will always feel that way. Be gentle on yourself, your body is growing a human! Hugs to you!
  • Thanks for all the feedback, ladies! I definitely feel better about the BH. The fall in baby's growth still has me concerned, even though the MFM isn't concerned at all apparently. I don't know if it's because I'm not eating enough, even though I feel like I'm eating a lot. I haven't had any steady weight gain since November, just gaining and losing the same 2-5 lbs which I am guessing is just fluid fluctuations. I've thought about adding in some more protein/fiber snacks to my diet to see if that helps in the next 4 weeks. I'm having scans every 4 weeks at this point.

@riff323 @juliebird6 I hear you guys too. I've had a slight B belly for as long as I can remember, even though I think I am still considered "average" at a size 12-14 prepregnancy. It got worse with my jumbo fibroid, based on it's location. I have felt self-conscious about it since getting pregnant and noticing I don't have a nice round D belly like a lot of others.

How are you feeling?: Babe is kicking me in the nether regions and it hurts sooo bad.  Having a lot of lower uterine/bladder pain and don't know if it is BH or a UTI. Cravings have been unreal and feeling very pregnant in general.

Rants/Raves: Feeling like my pelvic floor and body is just overall week and squishy.  5 years older than my last pregnancy and my body feels like it is deteriorating.  On the plus side...there isn't one right now lol

Questions: #1 Water went down the wrong pipe this weekend and I had a coughing fit that led me to wet myself. (Never happened in 1st pregnancy) Anyone else have this issue yet?  A pseudo mom friend of mine told me I have a week pelvic floor and that I had to do the "Bloom Method".  #2 I have been seeing talk about growth scans but my MD isn't planning on doing one for me (as far as I know).  Should I be concerned? With my first pregnancy they did growth scans but only because I was in a Zika zone during my first trimester and they wanted to make sure babe didn't have microcephaly.

GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment with regards to this pregnancy? Working full time, parenting a 4 year old, managing to keep up on basic cleaning in my house (most of the time).

  • @BuckeyeNut05 yay for avoiding the thrombosed hemorrhoid! Me too! I have hemorrhoids but I can live with them this time. Hope they stay that was for the next 10 weeks.

GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment with regards to this pregnancy? Keeping up with powerzone challenge on the peloton. I did not expect to be doing this level of output on the bike this far in to my pregnancy.

  • @aguamala I only had growth scans after my anatomy scan with DS because he measured 2.5wk ahead and my fundal height was far ahead. I ended up being induced because he was so big. I’m having one growth scan around 34-36wk with this baby because DS’s size caused a lot of major issues for me in delivery and obviously we want to avoid that this time, so my OB will check in on baby’s estimated size and then we’ll discuss and make any decisions that may need to be made re: induction, planned c-section, etc.

@theblondebump GD is SO hard. I have zero advice, but just want to send internet hugs. It can be so frustrating when we do everything we can but our bodies don’t cooperate.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @aguamala I only get growth scans because of a high risk condition (IBD on an immunosuppressant). I don't think they're standard practice unless a concern pops up!
  • @theblondebump my friend got her peloton for the first time while pregnant and finds that the advanced beginner rides and low impact rides are good choices! Would definitely recommend Robin's prenatal classes, but they're surprisingly tough despite their title (specifically the "recovery" ride - WOOF!). I also just do a lot of the 30 minute fun rides (like 80s and 90s music rides) and modify where I need to (lowering my leg speed or the resistance, not running out of the saddle, etc).

You're going to love it! My LB name is preggoMYeggo421 - would love another pregnant riding friend :)
  • @aguamala I am having growth scans because of my age (35) and I have a very large fibroid at my fundus that makes measuring my fundal height so inaccurate as far as baby growing is concerned. I agree with @rexnie in that I don't think it is standard practice unless there is another factor that they need to monitor babe more closely.
  • @aquamala, growth scans aren't typical. I didn't even have one when I was AMA with my 2nd baby. I got them with 3 and 4 because I'm over 40, have pregnancy related hypertension, and with 3 had GD.

@aguamala I definitely had to change my underwear the other day after I sneezed. That also never happened to me during my first pregnancy.  Weakened pelvic floors I guess?  ETA Also I was in Mexico (in a Zika zone) the day before I got my BFP the first time and was sooo anxious about Zika. I got tested and it came back negative though, so they didn't do growth scans for that.  I did wind up with two growth scans because I was measuring behind (fundal height).   I think most people don't get any more scans after the anatomy scan.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @kadeephd It's funny to think how we were so concerned about Zika (be it way less scary than Covid-19) and now we are just trying to survive during Covid times.  DH asked if I wanted him to buy me adult diapers  :D
  • Thank you for the support @mamabee1113 !

@anarmillay92918 ok, thanks! I will def add you! I am so sad - our delivery was supposed to happen this morning and because of the snow (36 inches here!), it got delayed :( I haven't even been able to reschedule yet so who knows when it'll get here! I'll probably have a baby by then, haha.
  • @runsoncoffee I totally think it has been worth it so far. DH got it for me (us really) for Christmas and we have been using it regularly. Having the on-demand prenatal workouts available at any time and very easily accessed has made it much, much easier for me to stay active this time. I was running and doing YouTube Zumba videos in our basement and this just really streamlines everything. They have lots of categories of exercise and live classes too so I’m excited to check out more after baby is born!
  • @aguamala adult diapers sound nice...I’m really tired of walking up or downstairs to pee a million times a day 😂 Although I’m not sure I could willingly pee in my pants, so there is that.
  • @aguamala I have definitely peed myself sneezing before. Not saying I don't have a weak pelvic floor....I don't really know! But it's also normal-ish I think. The worst was when I had a stomach bug 3rd trimester and was throwing up while also peeing all over the floor 😂😭

@theblondebump I bet your pics turned out gorgeous!!! We did snow pics with my second pregnancy and they are most def my fav maternity pics!!! Worth it!
  • @runsoncoffee, oh, man. I had HG with DS1 and there were definite times throughout my WHOLE pregnancy, I leaked as I puked. It was awful. I got to where I just wore a pad all the time.
  • @kadeephd I got formula samples with both. The hospital also gave me some with my first (not sure if they did with my second). I didn't do anything but sign up for registries so I'm guessing that's how. I actually never ended up using formula for either baby so haven't sought it out specifically.

@bbrahmbhatt their estimates are really inaccurate at this point for size. My first kept rising a bit in percentiles while in utero and my second kept declining. I had a growth scan with her just to make sure there was no IUGR or anything else to be concerned about but all was well. She was 30th percentile and then born at 6lbs 11oz 5 days late so I think smaller than 30th. Hovered around the teens for height and weight percentiles for the first few months after birth and eventually got up to 30s where she has been hanging out for over a year.

@bblair24 I'm glad you're in such a great place mentally this pregnancy! I get that it can sound bad to say but that totally makes sense and I know plenty of people who have had the same experience as your first two.

    @runsoncoffee I'm only dealing with 2 under 3. I'm seriously impressed.

@anarmillay92918 I had to stop running at 28-30 weeks with my first despite constantly exercising b/c the Braxton Hicks contractions were too intense. They literally only happened when I would run, and later when I walked. I had no BH that pregnancy at ALL except when running or walking. It happening while working out is pretty normal from everyone I've talked to.

@bbrahmbhatt I don't think I had BH this early last pregnancy but after ONLY having them while active (and then they would immediately stop if I stopped walking/running), I think I timed contractions a dozen times last pregnancy. So much BH it was ridiculous. It's a little early so keep an eye on it and keep talking to your doctor but pretty normal. I think others mentioned but pay more attention if it wraps around to your back.

@aguamala I only had a growth scan b/c my OB thought baby felt small when she felt my stomach. She was smallER but not too small but good to have it checked out. I never had one with my first (she was 8lbs at 39+6). I'd say they're more the exception than the norm but we have a lot of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time moms so the odds that we've all had a growth scan go up a bit. And good for you on keeping the house clean. I am WAY behind there lol so definitely envious. Also, a weak pelvic floor is pretty common in pregnancy. Nothing to be concerned about but looking into something to do while pregnant and postpartum might help. The Vagina Whisperer on Instagram is a good resource. I also got the One Strong Mama and Restore Your Core programs (ones for pregnancy and one is for forever after). But there are plenty of resources out there that are free. I actually got that program for another issue but their information on ways to breathe, stand, and work your core and pelvic floor (not just with kegels) is super helpful. They're also on IG.

@pelorunningmama @anarmillay92918 and @theblondebump I'm ChasnKidsNCarbs on Peloton! I actually like the HIIT and Arm + Interval rides best but I think that aligns with my workout style. I have non-pregnant friends from my BMB with my second who hate those lol. @theblondebump to start, I'd do Robin's Prenatal classes as she gives good input on how to adjust (both the bike and the workout in general) for pregnancy. If you haven't already, you can start doing the strength and other programs too. I love her prenatal strength and prenatal core classes to supplement on days I don't make it to the bike or sometimes I'll do one before or after a short ride.

@forevertired yay on the nanny progress!

@theblondebump OMG those maternity photos will be amazing! That's going to be so pretty and it's awesome that you can do them where you had your wedding photos done. I'm sorry about the GD diet stress. I've had friends IRL and in BMBs with GD and they have felt the same.

Upcoming appointments: Had one last week so nothing until 2/24

How are you feeling?: Good! Harder to get up if I lean back while sitting (or from laying down obviously) now but otherwise still feeling like 2nd tri.

Rants/Raves: I am trying to get into crocheting and am oddly excited about it. I have dabbled in both crocheting and knitting but never gotten past buying a couple of needles/hooks and a few balls of yarn and have never even finished a practice project. I'm realizing that I was using much too small needles/hooks and yarn weight for a beginner which was causing everything to be too small and way more complicated than it needed to be so hopefully this time it sticks. I really just want to make a cute patchwork afghan I saw online. Not even baby related lol.

Also, sorry I've been MIA. Work has been busy but we also just finalized our reno contract for our massive kitchen remodel (idk how massive it is with no walls moving but we're doing a breakfast nook, coffee bar, built in hutch, island, and moving the range and sinks around). It won't be done until 4/30 which is 9 days after my due date but I'm hoping to go a bit late and then only have punch list items to knock out for the last week so nothing major (fingers crossed) once baby is here.

I also called the after hours line last night because...wait for it...baby was moving TOO MUCH and I got all freaked out about a potential placental abruption or other cord issue causing fetal distress. I'm a third time mom so you'd think I wouldn't freak out about this stuff but alas. Baby was active all day although I was in a virtual summit so sitting most of the day. I kind of freaked out once I googled (although had heard a sudden increase was bad somewhere during a previous pregnancy). The midwife on call told me to do kick counts when I could which seemed a bit unhelpful but I did and got to 38 in 30 minutes and it was basically what baby felt like all day. The second midwife when I called back said they don't really worry about baby being too active but this is when they start to get more active and I could come in if I wanted to check the HR or anything. I declined as I just wanted a medical professional not to be concerned lol. The first lady was also great but I probably never needed to do kick counts.

Questions: What is everyone taking for an iron supplement if anything? My iron levels are the best they've been of any pregnancy so far but still on the low end of normal so will become anemic most likely before birth (but was already anemic at this point in both prior pregnancies - worst with my first, actually).

GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment with regards to this pregnancy? I've started working out which I wasn't allowed to do last pregnancy and felt too horrible and then busy with the move and getting settled to for about the first 20 weeks so I'm thrilled to be in a good groove with the Peloton and other shorter strength workouts.

  • @kvh22  Thanks for the PF resources! I am trying to get back into strengthening PF/working out in general but I don't really have a good zen spot in our current home (I know, lame excuse). I will definitely look into those programs to start when we move (which will hopefully be by the end of the month!) As for cleaning, when I say keeping up with the basics I mean loading the dishwasher once a day so that we can function and doing laundry like twice a week so DD has clean clothes to wear lol.  I definitely wouldn't call my house tidy by any measure and am envious of those who do!
  • Thanks @kvh22! Can’t wait to check out those peloton recs! Good luck with the crocheting and the kitchen reno! :)
  • @kvh22 crocheting is my favorite thing! That’s what I do in my Etsy shop ☺️ Feel free to ask me any questions! I’m excited that you’re figuring it out...it can be so relaxing!

@pelorunningmama and @kvh22 following you both! Yay pelopreggos!

Also @kvh22 the blood draw they took at my glucose test indicated I was slightly anemic (which I think I always am) so they told me to take one iron pill daily with vitamin C** (said calcium before - baby brain oy) for absorption. I got one from the pharmacy at my local grocery store, so nothing fancy. I've been feeling SUPER tired lately - like first tri need a nap by 3 pm tired - so I'm hoping this might help a bit. I'm only taking 325 mg so we'll see if that's enough to get me up into the normal range by my next visit!
