Clothes!

Re: Clothes!

  • Man that is so disappointing! I'm sorry to hear that. My LeTote came yesterday and was semi-successful. The dresses are wide in the boobs and will need tanks under. That's more my body than anything, with a J cup wrap dresses just don't fit right. I thought the "v neck" dress wasn't a wrap on top but turned out to be. The dark green top was overly large but will def work. The other two tops were totally cute. I'm glad I bought the floral print ladder top, definitely going to be a staple. I might buy outright the grey sweater-y top and the dog necklace, they were cute. (Anything you rent on LeTote you can just buy instead of sending back for a pretty cheap price, under $20. You can also buy a lot of the stuff on their site for the same price without bothering with the tote part.)

  • @claireloSC I’m glad you found some pieces you like! I’m going to check out Le Tote today.
  • Ok, also, what's up with the maternity overalls everywhere? Maybe for the taller ladies but that would be very unflattering on me.

  • @claireloSC so over jumpsuits. I don't want to to get naked when I need to pee, thank you very much.

I also checked out some sites last night, very unsatisfactory. I have some clothes leftover from when I was a little heavier so hopefully I'll be able to manage with a lot of that.

I really don't think I'll be comfortable in anything with a huge band over the belly, so that will take some trial and error. Fortunately I'm FTM and have no semblance of a bump yet.
  • @doodlemom131 Over the bump is SO HOT in the summer. Def going to be a pain in the heat. If you can't stand anything restrictive on your stomach, it's also a mark against it. On the flip side, under the bump falls down when you start getting bigger.

  • @claireloSC taller lady here, overalls are not for me! They never get the torso proportions right and I end up with a wedgie and a camel toe. Same with rompers.
  • @surrenderdorothy yeah I’m hoping spring stuff starts showing up in stores soon!

I did order a pair of jeans from H&M to test out. We shall see how they go.

Otherwise I’m hoping I can just wear maxi dresses and skirts all summer.

Oh I’m def on team overall. Guess that is my UO for the week. 🤣

ETA- team overall not preg. Ordered a maternity pair and will report back.
  • Rolling over this overall discussion. Even when not pregnant, overalls are not for me.
  • I LOVE overalls too.
Got my Stitch Fix box yesterday. Everything is *okay,* but I’m not in love with any of it? I feel obligated to pick something so I don’t lose the $20 subscription fee. But it’s SO hard for me to spend $45 on a pair of maternity leggings. Ugh.
  • I got my Stitch Fix box today and I’m so annoyed. I specifically put in all my feedback that I hate floral prints and stripes. I wear mostly solids, and need stuff that looks professional. I made clear that the purpose of this box is work clothes. This is what they sent me. You can’t tell from the pic but that thin SUNDRESS is a double whammy of vertical AND horizontal stripes. 😑😑😑😑

This is exactly why I stopped Stitch Fix awhile ago. No matter what feedback I gave them, they sent me exactly what I didn’t ask for. Ugh.

Oh my gosh! That's the worst. They literally sent you exactly what you said you didn't want. What a waste.

With my first I bought several sweaters from H&M that were stretchy/flowy so I could wear them during pregnancy but also after. I'd like to do something similar for this one, but I feel like it might be more difficult to find summer clothes that work for both pregnancy and non-pregnancy. I bought one pair of maternity jeans, one pair of maternity black leggings, and one pair of maternity workout pants from Old navy and just wore those all the time. I mostly swam for exercise in later stages of pregnancy so didn't need much in the way of work out clothes. I was able to wear my non maternity tank tops the whole time. Pink Blush is a good brand for cute dresses and swimsuits, and I used Rent the Runway for holidays and for our Babymoon.
  • @katj10 Yes- I am also concerned about finding summer clothes. Dresses and skirts are a no-go because it gets hot and I walk a lot outside and get chub-rub (I have tried everything). I suspect I will need a lot of mat bermuda shorts for the summer.

A Gab Factory blouse I got somehow shrank in the cold wash 🙄 Also, nothing V neck is going to work for me, yet all I see are V neck blouse and T shirts!!!!

  • I keep getting ads for the same maternity/nursing brands.  Anyone try anything from kindred bravely?
  • @bonanza1226 I've had their nursing pads and nursing bras in the past. Good quality. I wanna try their robe and nursing pj/nightgown. Will probably get more nursing bra too.
  • When did you all start showing? I started at 11 weeks! I have been wearing layers or flowy tops and I already started to feel my belly pushing on my winter jacket a bit when I have layers on, so that was my big purchase. I am outside often and prefer not to feel like a stuffed sausage or michelin man haha

Yaaay maxi dresses seem like the way to go this summer! Anything not restrictive. Im so looking forward to spring weather!

Re overalls, Ive never really thought about this but I think they look really cute on short women! Would be a pain with hpw often we pee!

  • I would say about then, at least a bit! And transitioned to mat clothes about then. I'm 14 weeks.

  • I ended up buying all of my StitchFix stuff, even the stripes, because with the completion discount it was worth it and DW really liked me in the top. It was also a pretty comfy shirt. I got the best jeans from them that I'm obsessed with, and some cute tops too. The jeans are so comfortable and fit perfectly. I am so over wearing leggings just because it's really damn cold so I need real pants. So even though I thought I didn't want over the bump, I have to admit these are the best.

  • Cute! Good maternity clothes- especially jeans- are worth the investment. Do you feel like the bloating is any better week 13 compared to week 12?

  • @bobbyflies2020 Yeah, my stomach is hard and not having too many bloating/gas issues as this point in week 14. So I think it did get better.

  • @claireloSC, awesome on finding some good jeans! I SPECIFICALLY put in my Stitch Fix instructions that I was looking solely for jeans and shirts. I got zero jeans and one shirt. They sent me leggings, a bra, a cardigan, and a sweater. I’m like, come on! I don’t particularly want any of it, but I feel like I have to pick at least one piece so I don’t waste the “stylist” fee! 🙄
  • @claireloSC my stitch fix had the same jeans and green cardigan!  I’m only keeping the jeans though.
  • My stitch fix is on the way!

  • @cyanope that's so annoying. What the heck. @emily1052 I just thought the cardigan was so soft but I don't really need it. Just liked it. :)

  • @claireloSC glad your box was a hit! I think having a pair of jeans you like and feel comfortable in is key.

I’m giving it another go next month after some very pointed comments about my last box. Will report back... in the meantime I found a dress from target that I love and can wear for work so that is a win.

  • Just bought these. I don't like any of my pajamas/sweats right now and have been stealing DH's sweatpants, but I wanted something a little more "cute." Will report back, but they had some pretty stellar reviews.

  • I've heard great things about this brand from my colleagues at work, so hopefully they're great! @cyanope
