Scaredy cat here too! The other night MH started watching New Mutants (which is described as a superhero horror film) while I was in the basement with him. I had to get him to walk me up to our bedroom because I was too scared to go up alone. And that was just being in the same room as a scary movie, I was looking at my phone and eating snacks.

100% fell off the wagon and disappeared from this board over the past few weeks. Things have been crazy at work and my PGAL anxiety was off the charts. Starting to feel a little bit of comfort now that we've heard a heartbeat twice, but still on edge. Ugh.
ANYWAY. I've missed this space. Talking freely about the ups and downs of pregnancy isn't something you really get anywhere else!
Contracts are with our lawyer for a house we are buying. Very excited to see this process through and become homeowners! We almost bought a house in October but had to walk away like a week before closing because the sellers lost their certificate of occupancy due to non-permitted work. It's close to town, closer to work than where we live now, and a great school district. It needs a good bit of work but we're excited to take on the project and it's a very good price even in this crazy market because it's been sitting for a while and it's january. Fingers crossed it all works out this time!

Thank you @cyanope and @the_most_happy! We signed today and awaiting on the seller to sign their side. Market is sooooo crazy here for sure. Even in winter it's 20% higher than last winter. We made 7 offers over the summer and only had one accepted. Every house was going like 50k over asking. Just pure insanity.

That’s exciting @claireloSC! We just moved in august. I sold my house, moved, and got married in the same week! We had 9 showings in 9 days and had an offer on the 9th day. Bummer was it took 2 months to close just because the banks are all backlogged from covid. It took 2 months to close on our new house too. I certainly didn’t get 50k over asking, but I made a profit nonetheless.

Not sure how to feel about this guidance, but wanted to share for those considering the vaccine. Not that I've been offered it yet, but I am not sure which way I will go. Would love to have it but it makes me uncomfortable that kids aren't able to get it but I would be giving it to my baby.

@claireloSC I saw that report as well. So many unknowns with the vaccine, I wouldn't feel comfortable receiving it while pregnant. Not that I've been offered. Now, if I were not pregnant? Sign me up!
@claireloSC The amount of conflicting information is so frustrating. I just had my 12 week appt today and my doc cleared me to get the vaccine. I've been trying to schedule an appointment online all day since. I'm still inclined to get it if and when I can. Pregnant women classify as a high risk group, so I'm able to register.
@surrenderdorothy same, and i actually got the moderna vaccine already at 9 weeks. it stressed me out but i'm in southern california where the numbers are crazy, and i'm waiting to begin a job in a hospital soon, so i talked to my OB and decided to get it. this new info doesn't make me feel great but ultimately i was more concerned about the unknowns of COVID vs the vaccine. but yea it's highly highly personal.
But even reading that article, there’s no negative evidence against it. Just lack of evidence in pregnant humans, but they know how the mRNA vaccine works and it doesn’t attack the fetus or placenta like some early tinfoil-hatters exclaimed.
My OB agreed that the ACOG recommended it be offered to pregnant women based in risk. The WSJ article also says to weigh risk. Right now, I’m not frontline in the ER, but had I been, I would be more inclined to take it. I canceled my appointment when I found out I was pregnant bc MH wanted to talk to the OB. I honestly wish my OB would’ve been more proactive one was or another but she was very PC on it. If I wanted it, take it. 🤷🏻♀️
@claireloSC thanks for posting it. its so hard to know what to do. i cancelled my dose in December. I might get my first one in second or early third trimester. I know people go both ways on it. No right answer.
Yeah, it's a very personal decision. I think if you are a healthcare worker, it's an easier decision or at least for me it would be. But I have a white collar job and literally don't go anywhere, so I'm more on the fence and again, haven't been offered it yet anyway. I really really want the vaccine, DW is nervous about giving it to kids without more testing so haven't made a decision yet. From the science as far as I understand it I think it should be fine, but I just wish we had more data on it.

So it's not like they changed recommendations based on new data. Nothing has changed. ACOG/SMFM in US interpreted it as "no evidence of harm and possible benefit so do not WITHHOLD from pregnant women" given that women are at higher risk of complications (which the WHO article posted above also acknowledges). Now WHO is using the same data and interpreting it as "no evidence of harm so far but no known evidence of benefit (bc it hasn't been tested specifically in pregnant women)" so hold off for now. So thats basically how most people are making decisions - we obviously see the difference in opinion in this group and how people calculate risk/benefit. It's not gonna be required for anyone bc the vaccines are all under emergency approval only and everyone is gonna make to make their own decision (hopefully after talking with their trusted docs).
Just here to say I’m glad we can have a respectful conversation about this. I’m seeing the opposite in a lot of other groups I’m a part of. I appreciate the insight and thoughtful comments.

I'm stringing along three different banks so I have to decide today who I'm going with. Wells is cheapest but the paperwork was hell last time. Loan Depot is slowwwww and their portal is a nightmare. TD is easy peasy but their APR is a tiny bit higher. Leaning towards them anyway though because I know it's just going to be so much less hassle overall. ETA we're planning to pay off the mortgage (30 year) in 10 years, so it works out to only be like a 5k difference. If it was 30years it would be 20k. So it makes a difference but not a huge one.

I’ve decided I’m going to wait on the Covid-19 vaccine, I’m a SAHM and I don’t go anywhere. But I just learned that my rubella antibodies didn’t show up on my blood work (which I had no idea they were checking for). So the doctor asked if I wanted to do another test that’s more sensitive (assuming she means a titer?) but if that’s negative I’ll need the series after baby arrives. Which now I have more questions would I need to get the MMR series again or is there a booster?

I am also holding off on getting the vaccine. My cousin (who is trying to get pregnant) keeps sending me all of these articles about how it's fine for pregnant women to get the vaccine. I already told her I wasn't getting it so it's starting to get on my nerves. My GP and my OB both advised me not to get it (I exclusively work from home) and I feel more comfortable making decisions with them than what my cousin gets from the internet. I've started ignoring her texts when she sends them hoping she'll get the hint.
