As you can see, I went ahead and made this week’s threads but I didn’t do TFAS, TTCAL, or IF because I wasn’t sure if it was appropriate as I’m not apart of those threads. If no one is bothered if I post them, I’m happy to do that in the future.

@jackie_dunny I think skipping those makes sense. It’s not a huge deal either way but I do think threads with a GTKY probably makes more sense for someone in the thread to make them. Thanks for getting everything else started! I’m trying to be a better participant but the most I ever get to are the dailies and maybe the grad thread haha.

Huh... I just discovered that my friends @cleverasfock and @thatsrealclever have been banned. They didn't even say anything offensive. I wonder if TB figured out they were dupe accounts.

@acleverusername I wonder if they're cracking down on having "friends" waiting on the sidelines, which of course wouldn't be necessary if they weren't so ridiculous with the ban-hammer.

@acleverusername @gingermama29 on The Knot back when I got married it was definitely against the rules to have 2 accounts from the same IP address or whatever. It actually exposed a catfish that had 2 accounts without anyone knowing. So 2 active members, same catfish behind them. It was crazy.

I just found the thread where everything came out and the TK Gods even came and posted in it to add some explanation to what happened. That would never happen here!

I skimmed a lot of the middle pages but found the whole thing horrifying. For anyone also curious, there were 3 “people” on a board all being acted out by the same person—for a year, I guess. Two of the girls were supposedly married to each other. The catfish eventually got found out. She stole social media pics of other people and used them as her own. They found her in real life too, and the girl whose pics she stole. The sleuths on the case ended up being accused of also being in on the catfishing, but they supposedly weren’t. Here’s the main sleuth’s response, quoted by someone who thinks she’s in on it. This is the gist of the whole crazy sitch:

@sammygirl18 not to make you paranoid, but I had a (now ex-) friend that started TTC around the same time as me but was weirdly jealous or suspicious of my journey so she would routinely scour the baby forums (all of them) and try to figure out of any of the users was me then try to use it against me. It was fucked. We're not friends anymore, not even for that reason but because she was a raging bitch to me after she got KU, but people like that do exist.

I also had another friend who "found" a mutual friend on one of the forums and figured out shew was KU long before she announced to us. She then proceeded to act like she had no idea (so friend wouldn't know she was a super-creep lol), and that has stuck with me like 11 years later.

@kiki047 that's super creepy. I'm always super paranoid someone I personally know would be able to figure out who I was, so this freaks me out.

it's actually why I changed my username on TB recently because I thought my old one was too revealing

@pajamstagrams I think it's always better to be aware of the risks and be able to act accordingly. It is still a public forum so the onus is on each of us as individuals to decide how much we want to share.
