My to do list: - Wash and put away premie, NB and 0-3 month clothes - Reorganize our kitchen cupboards to make room for bottles - Clean and put away bottles - Make room on kitchen counters for bottle drying rack - Pack hospital bag (will do at 30 weeks... maybe 32 if my blood pressure stays stable) - Raise crib mattress to high setting - Take apart and wash stroller - Wash car seat fabric - Make some frozen meals -Figure out which postpartum supplies I need
I'm sure there are more things I should probably have one the list, but these are the ones that stand out to me!
I’m not quite third trimester - I think it starts next week!
But the majority of my to do list right now is finding room in our house for baby brother. What will be his nursery is now the school room/play room. The school year will still be going when he’s born obviously, so we need a new home for the table/board/supplies. We think that’ll go in the room downstairs...which means we need to make room for it in there 😂 And some of the toys in the school room will need to find a home in the girls’ room. So lots of that to do before I can even start the baby stuff. Otherwise, my basic list:
- buy DD1 new dresser
- move DD1’s dresser in to nursery
- get baby boy clothes from my cousin
- buy new infant car seat
- buy nursing bras/tanks
- pack hospital bag
- get pack and play back from my parents
- buy bottles
I *think* if I get those things done I’ll feel ready enough. I’m not even pretending his nursery will be ready by the time he’s born and that’s fine with me. DD2 didn’t have her own room for a few months and we were perfectly fine. In my dream world, my nesting energy will take over and he’ll have a beautiful room to come home to buuut I’m not counting on that. 😁
ETA now that I’ve bought a few things for him, I do need to find a space in his future nursery to store it. That needs to happen soon. The girls keep playing with it and while that’s sweet they’re not the most gentle people ever and I don’t want things broken before he’s even born 😂
We are just now finally getting our house put back together after months of major renovations, so I have SO much to do.
First, I need to finish moving DS from the nursery to his new room. Then I can pull out all the NB and 0-3mo clothes, blankets, bottles, etc. and take inventory and wash/sterilize as needed. After that I can organize my brain to making an actual list to tackle.
My to-do list gets my anxiety going big time. We’re days from finishing our refinancing, which took foreeeever so I feel behind on everything. We had several house projects we wanted to get done beforehand, like replacing some areas of tile, a few windows that need glass replacement, and blackout blinds. All of that is waiting for the refinance. My goal for today and this weekend is to go through the kitchen. I ordered some drawers for the cabinets I need to install and then make room for all of the baby stuff, and ideally move DS’ stuff where he can reach. He’s recently gotten really excited about helping with dishes (I don’t get it, but I’m thankful), so I’d like his stuff where he can be more helpful. And then... buy the stuff on the registry list I made and put it all away. I’m a bit ocd and really need the nursery done ASAP, otherwise walking by stresses me out.
-finish buying baby items from registry -finish stocking the nursery -schedule remaining ultrasounds -take labor/delivery classes -take milkology class -take taking cara babies class -notify FMLA of maternity leave -finish making wills/POA/estate planning -wash/sterilize bottles -wash/sterilize pumping equipment -make freezer meals -install carseats/have them checked -buy hospital/going home clothes for me -buy post partum things for me -pack hospital bags -finish deep cleaning the house (so far I'm a leeetle ahead of schedule on this one)
I feel like theres soo much to do still. And my energy is failing lol
I definitely need to get the nursing and bottles/sanitizer stuff sorted through. I need to buy some stuff-- sound machine, another car seat mirror, little nail file, etc. I feel like I will be amazon-ing a lot the first few weeks!
Its almost laughable how little effort I’m putting in this time around... I was feeling a bit guilty when I realized I haven’t/don’t plan to buy a single new thing for this baby since our girls will be 15 months apart... but then I realized most of the things we do to “prepare” are for us and not actually for baby. They really don’t need much in the beginning. Everything is already still out from dd1 and the move. So my to do list is order a new breast pump, and open the pack and play next to our bed. I guess I’ll pack a bag. Maybe make hubby read The Birth Partner by Peggy Simkin again. That’s it 🤷🏼♀️
@Serenamarr feeling same to you- I was feeling a little guilty then realized I will just amazon whatever I need and all we really need is the bassinet set up, car seat in, and a sound machine!
@Serenamarr, DH and I just had this exact conversation the other day! I was like, I guess I could buy him a blanket that's just for him (i.e. that his big sisters didn't poop/pee/spit up on), and he agreed that would be nice. But then we were saying how all of the nursery stuff is totally just for parents. The baby literally needs fed, needs help sleeping, needs to be kept safe in the car, needs to be kept clean and warm...and his needs pretty much stop there!
