September 2021 Moms

PGAL 1/11

This is a check in for those of us who are experiencing pregnancy after a loss (miscarriage, chemical pregnancy, stillbirth, child loss, to name a few). Hopefully we can all lend support to each other through the hormone filled craziness that is pregnancy!

Just a reminder: there is a general loss trigger warning on this entire thread.

1. How far along are you? Any milestones?

2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?

3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?

4. When is your next appointment?

5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)

6. GTKY: What’s the last book you read? What book do you plan to read next?

    1. How far along are you? Any milestones?  4w4d; my next milestone is going to the first US and seeing if there is a SCH. Then 15 weeks is my next milestone.

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? I feel fine the last few days. No real nausea since the other night. It’s likely right around the corner since I’m coming up on 5 weeks. I could feel the bloat yesterday because I wore jeans that are actually my size. It’s amazing how you don’t notice the bloat when you’re wearing leggings and jeans a size too big.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Yesterday my anxiety went up. My temps are trending down and so is my RHR. I took a test yesterday and the line was much darker which helped me relax some. I plan to temp tomorrow and hopefully my temp goes up. If it does I will stop because the anxiety it is causing me isn’t good. I have also gone running to the bathroom to make sure I haven’t started bleeding. I’m so terrified I’m going to see blood. Luckily I haven’t and I hope it stays that way.

    4. When is your next appointment? January 25th or 26th. I can’t remember which one. It’s just for an US to assess what’s going on.

    5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)  We have a leak in a pipe in our attic. We thought it was the roof but it isn’t thankfully. From the state of the warped wood it appears to be a recurring leak and the previous owners didn’t disclose it to us which really pisses me off. From what we have gathered it isn’t even that big of a problem to fix so I’m not sure why they never did it. If this house didn’t have the view of the mountains I was looking for, we would have walked away from the sell.

    6. GTKY: What’s the last book you read? What book do you plan to read next? I am reading a Charlotte Mason Companion and I plan to read Volume 1 of her educational series that she wrote. I am a traditional, non-COVID, homeschooler I use the Charlotte Mason Method to educate my kids. So these books are relevant to our daily lives.

  • @emeraldcity1214 Owning a house can be such a pain sometimes. At least it isn't a huge problem that you got stuck with!

    1. How far along are you? Any milestones?  5w4d - We've made it past my 1st loss, 2nd loss was at about 6w so only a few days away

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?  Sore boobs. Bloat isn't as bas as when I started progesterone last week but it is still there, wearing sweatpants most days since so nothing is tight on the tummy. Appetite is picking up a little but not much sounds good. DRY mouth in the morning.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Had some anxiety this weekend, I was a bit crampy on Saturday night and then didn't sleep well. I almost feel like I'm imagining it though because they go away pretty fast, so I'm hoping it is just things stretching down there. Getting anxiety every time I use the bathroom, always afraid I am going to see spotting.

    4. When is your next appointment? Next Monday we have our dating/viability ultrasound. This will hopefully be a major milestone to get past. My last loss we had a weak heartbeat and were measuring behind at 7w.

    5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)  I wish we lived in a warmer climate right now. I don't like spending a TON of time outside during winter, every once in a while is nice, but I just feel bored right now and wish it was warmer out. We usually go to concerts, the casino, and sporting events a lot during the winter and we can't do any of that with covid.

    6. GTKY: What’s the last book you read? What book do you plan to read next? I am currently reading Crazy Rich Asians. I've thought about re-reading the Harry Potter series (yet again) but I'm not sure what I will read next yet.

  • @cheers28 I hope your upcoming US goes well and you see a strong HB. Every time I think of the US my anxiety starts to rise.
  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones? 6W3D

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?  Very sore boobs, like it hurts taking my shirt off. Feeling nauseous, I threw up for the first time yesterday and it wasn't fun. Mild cramping around my belly button and some lower back pain.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? I found a chart online that shows miscarriage rates by day. I don't know how accurate it is but it seems to be helping

    4. When is your next appointment? Not for two more weeks! I hate it such a long way.

    5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here) Nothing really. Just wish I had some energy to clean my house!!

    6. GTKY: What’s the last book you read? What book do you plan to read next? I wish I had time to read books! I used to LOVE it but having a four year old and a full time job makes it hard

  • @emeraldcity1214 I can’t believe they hid that from y’all - and never got it fixed to begin with. Ridiculous.
@cheers28 seasonal mood changes are SO real! I feel ya on the warm weather. Also, keep us updated on your US - that’s a huge milestone! I’m holding you in my heart!
@ladylynn222 I also used to love being an avid reader, but unless “Nibble the book monster” counts, it’s been months since I read anything. Kids are hard on personal interest time LOL.

    1. How far along are you? Any milestones? 6w6d

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Overwhelmingly exhausted. Work is kicking my ass as we prepare to open the college to students again, which doesn’t help the exhaustion. 8 pm is my new bedtime, for real.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? I’ve still been peeing on sticks every day and got REALLY anxious that the line looked a little lighter the last couple days. I remembered reading somewhere that you can have more hormone in your urine than a home test can pick up which can cause false results. It was suggested to me to dilate my pee and retest and sure enough - it was as dark as it had ever been. It caused a lot of unneeded anxiety, so I’m going to stop testing now - for REAL.

    4. When is your next appointment? Jan. 21. First appointment and an US. I can hardly wait. I am just praying for a strong healthy heartbeat...

    5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): I’m seriously jealous of all the WFH people/people able to wear sweatpants and leggings to work. Seriously jealous. I am struggling to find comfortable clothes to wear right now. Also... I need to tell my team I’m preggers. January is a REALLY rough time at work and I need them to step up and take some stuff off my plate. I hate pulling the “boss card” and telling them to do anything that I wouldn’t do with them, so they really should have the context here... but with my history of miscarriages, I also don’t want to tell them until at least this first US... I just can’t decide.

    6. GTKY: What’s the last book you read? What book do you plan to read next? I THINK the last non-children’s book I read was “Know My Name” - the common read for the college I work for. It was very good.

  • @ladylynn222 I keep saying I’m going to make a cleaning schedule. I have done that in the past and it helps me stay focused on what needs to be cleaned next. Otherwise, I just get overwhelmed and nothing gets cleaned.

@JustAnotherUsername16 I need to stop testing too. I’m driving myself crazy.
  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones?  5w4d. No milestones, really, but I am officially the farther along than I was with both losses.

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Pretty good. Just sore/itchy boobs.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? I go back and forth. I think my anxiety is because I am not feeling many symptoms yet.

    4. When is your next appointment? U/S and virtual appointment on 1/28.

    5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)

    6. GTKY: What’s the last book you read? What book do you plan to read next? I read "My Dear Hamilton" last spring. I don't have a ton of time to read for fun because I am always grading papers. I really don't know what I want to read next! I'll take any recommendations.

  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones?  7w1d.  Saw the hearts beating on both twins on Tuesday

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?  Exhausted and crampy.  Can only really function by taking tylenol daily otherwise I just hurt.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Anxious that I may not get any real updates on the babies until my 12 week appt now that I'm discharged from the fertility clinic

    4. When is your next appointment? 2/8

    5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)

Honestly I'm really hating this pregnancy and I hate that I feel that way.  We tried for almost 4 years for this and I've been miserable most the time for the past 2 weeks (feels like longer).  I barely sleep and am super sore most of the time.  I just feel useless.  With my first I remember being nauseous, but I was still active.  Heck I milked cows for my parents in the mornings before work until I was 6 months pregnant.  There's no way that would be happening with this pregnancy.  Really hoping things turn around soon as this is my last pregnancy as long as both twins survive and I would like to enjoy some of it.

    6. GTKY: What’s the last book you read? What book do you plan to read next? I'm not sure of the last book I actually read, but the last audio book I listened too was "The Tattooist of Auschwitz".  I plan on listening to "The Great Alone" next.

  • @Centralmnmom - Yay for heart beats! Be kind to yourself, twin pregnancy symptoms definitely hit harder.
  • @emeraldduchess I’m 5w3d and I’m not really feeling any consistent symptoms. I literally get a wave of mild nausea randomly in the day (and most days it doesn’t happen) and then nothing. The other night I was having dinner with friends and we were sitting there with the food after we were done eating and I had to ask that we move the food. The smell was making my stomach turn. Then, 3 of the ladies turned and asked if I was pregnant. Oops! Lol!

@Centralmnmom I’m so sorry that you’re so miserable right now. Hopefully it passes as you move into the second trimester and you can enjoy it until the end.

@emeraldcity1214 I was just saying to another TTGP alum that I blame pop culture for the assumption that symptoms should be all day, every day. Especially morning sickness. TV and movies show the woman vomiting as soon as sperm meets egg, for crying out loud.
And I blame the "Phoebe has her brother's triplets" storyline for a lot of misconceptions about IVF. She gets 5 embryos transferred, lies upside down for a few hours, then gets a bfp the same day. Nope. That's not how it works.
  • @emeraldduchess I haven’t watched Friends in so long I don’t even remember the details of that episode. I don’t think any doctor would transfer 5 embryos either. That’s a little octomom-ish.
  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones? 4+6

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Some mild cramping and nausea. I’m exhausted. I’ve been going to bed before 9 all week!

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Ok. My 2 previous CP’s happened before 5 weeks, so I’m happy to be at 5 weeks tomorrow. Taking it one day at a time and trying not to stress.

    4. When is your next appointment? I have a phone appointment on Feb 11 at 8 weeks. My first office visit isn’t until March 9 at 12 weeks. It feels so far away.

    5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)  none right now.

    6. GTKY: What’s the last book you read? What book do you plan to read next? I just finished The Wilding Sisters by Eve Chaseand am about to start Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate

  • @ladylynn222 I saved that “chance you won’t have a miscarriage” chart when I was on my last BMB. It is reassuring to look at!

  • @emjeve No dating US? I guess they aren’t considering them necessary with COVID. I’m glad that chart brings you comfort. Sadly, those numbers don’t mean anything once you have fallen into the 1%.
  • @emeraldcity1214 they actually called me today after getting my second blood test results and wanted to set up a dating US. I was not expecting to have one, but I’m excited- it’s on Thursday!
