Day after vaccine update: my arm is hardly sore at all today, but I did wake up with a decent headache. Nothing some Tylenol couldn’t help. Now I feel pretty much normal.

I thought I’d update here, my dad is an ER nurse in Florida and just got the first dose of the vaccine about a week ago. He either ended up having a bad reaction or contracted COVID right after in my opinion (but he did a rapid test and it came back negative but those aren’t the most reliable test). Either way he’s been quarantined from work for 14 days and is on hazard pay.
A few days after the reaction he got a fever, headache, and apparently ended up with the worst diarrhea for days. He now doesn’t really have a sense of smell and just overall doesn’t feel great. I’m curious if it was a vaccine reaction, or he got COVID after and now his body is in the weird fight of hey.. I got the first dose so I’m kinda fighting you off, but not really, but trying, etc.
anyway I thought that was interesting! My dad is SUPER stubborn and “tough” when it comes to this stuff. He’s not one to complain about being sick. In a family of nurses and firefighters we have grown up with the mentality.. you don’t go to the doctor unless you’re dying. Slap a bandaid on it lol.
@ckmb_1250 I don’t think he plans to since he is quarantining and treating like Covid anyway you know? @asf0613 thank you! He is all around a pretty healthy and very active guy so I’m sure he will he just fine I hope!
Yes @brynn_mamaof4 - prayers for a quick and safe recovery for your dad! He might have just gotten a bad bout of cold/flu too. So hard to tell these days.
@mrosek91oh wow exact same deal! I think that’s exactly what happened to him. I don’t think it’s a cold since he lost his smell and taste, and I believe the rapid test was a false negative.
He’s doing good though! Already seems to be on the upswing. 🙏🏻
@mkc3888 let us know how it goes...excited for you!!
Yesterday was a bunch of mixed emotions for me regarding the vaccine. We carefully and thoughtfully weighed our options, but when I arrived, I was flooded with emotion. I was excited for the opportunity to receive the vaccine but also overwhelmed by the idea of something happening to the baby. I got the shot and have felt fine since. I did cry when I got in my car because I was so happy to have received the vaccine but also so mad that I even had to make the decision because of the pandemic.
My arm is sore today but I am always sore the day after any vaccine. The baby was moving a lot last night but she was pretty quiet this morning which obviously made me worry. But I had some breakfast and coffee, and she is now pretty active. Just hoping things stay this way! Thanks for listening 😆
@spartan4life I had my AS yesterday 2 1/2 weeks after my first shot and everything looked perfect, which made me feel a bit better about it. Also my shot this morning wasn't bad. No soreness yet. I'm just tired because I didn't sleep well last night. My mfm said since I had mild side effects with the first injection that I could expect mild side effects this time too. He also said that people usually have a stronger immunological response to the second shot, so hopefully it's not too bad. I'll update here as time goes on.

@mkc3888 that's great to hear! I'm glad the AS went well. I scheduled my second dose 2 day before my next scan. I have to have a second one because little miss wouldn't let us confirm she was a girl and they couldn't get all the clear pictures because she was sleeping so that actually works out really good. I feel like I will feel better then too.
1 day post vaccine and only symptom is soreness at injection site. Same as last time and it started last night. I’m expecting it to me sore for a few days.

@mkc3888 or anyone else who has received the vaccine...have you signed up for any studies tracking pregnant women who got the vaccine? My friend and I were both looking for ones to participate in but the only one I know of is the CDC one and it is not specific to pregnancy.
@spartan4life these were shared by @dr.martaperez on IG. She said Pfizer was planning upcoming studies, while Moderna plans “observations” but no formal studies.
I haven’t signed up but would like to. I’ll have to look into it. Update on shot #2 same symptoms as last time. Day after I had a headache. Took Tylenol and all was fine. Arm was sore and is now barely sore. My only advice is if you sleep on your left side, don’t get it in your left arm.
