  • @_orchid_ haha I love how you practice yelling the name.
  • We won’t name until he’s born, but DD1 is Isabelle and DD2 is Emilia. Our fur baby is Oliver, so we’re going with an A first name to keep with the vowel trend. Accepting suggestions!

Middle name is Christopher after our dear BIL who passed away last month.

If somehow he’s a girl, my front runner for a girl is Adelaide. I’d have to work hard to convince DH, though. Middle name would be Christine, again, after BIL.

  • @_orchid_ I like the practicing yelling thing. My mom has always called me by my first and middle name. Not just when I was in trouble but also as a term of endearment and not every time she called my name. with DD I would play her name through my head as if I was talking to her to make sure I liked how it sounded.
  • @tooraloorah
A few names that go with yours that come to mind
    Alexander
    Abraham
    Atticus
  • @angelz429 Atticus is on my name list for boys 😀
  • @mindyb2019 I actually think it’s a great name. But we’re trying to stick to 2 syllables.
  • Now that we officially know the sex, we restarted name discussions. My husband says I make it not fun by not just picking a name 🙄

with my first son, his name was picked before conceived (Draken)

With my daughter, I heard the name and was like “that’s it” (Brielle)

I have found a lot of names I like... but nothing that I LOVE. This one is harder to name for some reason 😕

doesn’t help when my hubs is throwing out names like Steele or Brant. Neither is my style then he turns around and says I take the fun out of it 😡

the names still on the list right now (again that I like but aren’t in love with)
    easton
    kellan
    zander
    rhys
  • I love boys names for girls. I love unique names. Grandparents of course want to voice their opinions so we’ve kept tight lipped on the name this time around to avoid opinions. Once kids are born I feel they end up fitting their names, but people are not shy to tell you other options when you tell them the name you’ve chosen...and my in-laws today listed a bunch of names from their families of people I never met...way back in their family tree. My SIL named both of her kids after family names. So they don’t understand why we don’t do the same. We pick names we like not because someone in the family had the same name. Nothing wrong with naming after family members. My son’s middle name is after my dad, but first names are names we (my husband and I) love and that fit our family. Even after we told them we had names picked out they just kept saying “well, here are some other options...my so and so was named ____”. Lol. Names are so personal I don’t like when people tell me what they think we should name our child. Maybe this should be in the venting category. Lol. Sorry guys if you’ve read this far.
  • @it_is_a_baby I won’t entertain name conversations with anyone. I don’t care about anyone else’s opinion and I’m not at all willing to share the names we are considering. Someone will always say something inappropriate and insensitive and you will never forget it.

  • I don't even know if the baby is a girl or not but I CANNOT get the name Izzy out of my head lately... Like I'm so so so set on it idk what I'll do if it's a boy 😅
  • @klj0228 that's a good way to do it too. Ive never done this before but we're talking about picking out a few we can agree on, then waiting till it's born to see who it looks like.

@mrsrundmc yeah I like all of those too. I wish I had a girl to name. Camilla is a favorite. So elegant yet cute and homey.
  • @megggosaurusrex we have an Isabelle who goes by Izzie sometimes. We prefer to call her Belle, but had intentions of calling her Izzie, so others do. You could do Israel for a boy! I’ve known a few boy Izzys.

     BabyFruit Ticker
  • @megggosaurusrex second tooraloorah, Izzy works for a boy too! A friend of mine has an Isaiah that is Izzy
  • @megggosaurusrex I was convinced he was a girl (my 4yo had me convinced and I had a weird dream) and was 100% set on the name Emlyn. I don’t have another name like that for a boy that I love 😭 still in discussions. Husband’s vote is Easton. And I guess it’s growing on me, but still doesn’t feel like that’s “it” either.... but I’ve also read the top 1000 names 4 times and can’t find anything that I love, so I’m not sure what I’m going to do lol
  • @angelz429 I know that feeling all too well. Lol I dont know what I'm going to do either. I've read the top 1000 boy names a million times over too and there is nothing I love 😩😢I have a couple of girls names that I LOVE and I cant find anything I like as much as those names. It sucks.
  • I decided on a name and now I don’t know anymore 🙈 Ugh. I’m hoping it’ll just come to me one day.
  • We're also having a hard time thinking of baby boy's name. We have two boys already and both have large, mostly male families so a lot of our favorite names are already used! Our boys have very traditional names and I'm wanting to go less traditional this round. Felix, Fenix, Charlie are on our list and I'm trying to get DH to budge on either Quinn or Orion.
  • @disgruntled_pelican that's so annoying. I know the grandparents are excited, my mom always asks, but if you have chosen not to share, they should respect that.

@mindyb2019 and @angelz429 I felt the same way when we started talking about boys names. We had two that we had picked out after DS was born, but after five years plus neither of us felt too enthused about them anymore. DH had a bunch of names that he liked, but none of them got me excited like when we had picked DS's name. We talked him through made a list of top picks, mostly ones that I liked but didn't love. Over time though one of the ones on the list grew on me, and that is what we have decided. Adding a middle name to the discussion also helped me decide on the first names as well because of the way things sounded all together. Good luck! I'm sure you will find that right name eventually!

  • we have no clue what we are naming this kid this time around and really havent even talked too much about it...With our second son we had a list of names and then when he was born went with a name we thought of in the recovery room that was never even discussed previously, Elliot. IDK if the lack of motivation is coming from the loss we just had or because its our third kid, but I literally cant even make myself think of something I like.
  • @mrs_massie sorry you’re on the name struggle bus. The kid’s not going to college without a name. At least that’s what I keep telling myself 😂
  • @angelz429 I like Oakley!

Levi is a great name. Since you're interested in hebrew names, the boy name we had picked out for one of our twins (both are girls) was Taavi.

We just found out baby is a boy! I'm finding boy names much more difficult than girl names. My mom's father was Noah and she desperately wants us to use that name. It's number 2 in popularity, which gives me a lot of pause. Do you guys know a lot of little Noah's?
  • @bklynchica Noah is super cute!! That’s on my list too. I think I met one Noah at baby group...at the J. But that’s about it, surprisingly. My first is named Elijah and it was somehow on the top 10 list last year too, which I didn’t care for 🤷🏻‍♀️ I haven’t met any others.
  • @bklynchica there is a Noah in my August 18 group but I like the name! We also added to our consideration list Jonah which is kind of like Noah but less popular.

    IVF July 2020: 16 eggs retrieved, 14 mature, 12 fertilized, 3 blasts, 2 PGT-A normal

    FET 10/7/20: BFP on 10/12/20!!! (EDD 6/25/21); First beta 10/16/20 (9dpt): 148; Second beta 10/19/20 (12dpt): 621; Third beta 10/26/20 (19dpt): 4732; Fourth (and final!) beta 11/2/20 (26 dpt): 22,000+

  • @bklynchica I know a couple Noah’s. My friends son is named that and I know another older gentleman and his grandson is named Noah too.
  • @bklynchica, Noah was my #1 name with my son but the popularity was why we didn’t choose it. I do know 3-4 of them too so that also factored in. I’d consider your area and friend circle to see if it’s common.

    *Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*

  • I know 3 or 4 Noahs off the top of my head. I know an Elijah Noah brother duo too
  • @bklynchica I only know one Noah and he is 5 or 6.  I don’t think of it as super popular.  Can you use it as a middle name instead?
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @bklynchica I am an elementary librarian and have about 500 kids a year- I've only had 2 Noahs (different ages) in the past 6 years.

DS2 is James, which is super popular, and we don't know any others. I haven't taught any other James either. We live in a fairly diverse area (not too far from Brooklyn!) and the -adens are still really big here. I think Noah is a very sweet name!

    Names are HARD.

Our first is Cooper, and it was an immediate easy decision. I'd loved the name forever, and we'd both agreed on that for a boy from the moment we first discussed names. We could not agree on a girls name at all though. We finally had it narrowed down to two that I wasn't thrilled about, but ended up having a boy.

This time around we know it's another boy and cannot agree, and I'm definitely mourning the loss of not getting to use one of my loved girl names (Anne Merritt or Hollis Anne). I love names that are preppy/classic/southern/surname-style and DH doesn't like any of my suggestions. It also doesn't help that the names I tend to like have already been used by friends or are the names of close friends of us:

    Wells, Wyatt, Noah, Harrison

I want to honor my grandfather, who was George.

My front runner was George Shepherd, DH is totally against George as a first name. I'm also not a huge fan of calling a kid by their middle name. Unfortunately, every backup first name I like doesn't pair well with George as the middle name. I really tend to like short one-syllable names : Briggs, Hayes, Grant, Miles, Brooks. I do like the name Sullivan, and it's a family name for DH, but I absolutely HATE the nn Sully or Van.

Right now the only name we semi agree on is Sawyer George.

I'm just really not into trendy names or names that feel made up. No Caiden, Brayden, Braxton...or funky spellings. Nothing on people who loves those names but they're not for me. At one point DH was looking at names and threw out Braxton...I thought he'd lost his mind.
  • @bklynchica I don't personally know any Noahs.  I definitely get trying to avoid a popular name but you never know what is going to be popular at the time and in your area.  We named DS Duke which is a somewhat uncommon name.  He is at a small nursery school where there is one Jack in the school (a super popular name right now) and two Dukes.  You just never know.

@toesinthesand-2 Names are so hard.  H and I are miles apart on names in general.  We are currently settled on Quinn but there are literally no other options we agree on right now.

  • @toesinthesand-2 I think Miles George sounds nice! But you’re right, George is a tough flow for middle name.
  • And.... I was outvoted on Oakley 😭

so we settled on h’s favorite... Easton 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • @angelz429 awww im sorry you were out voted. That sucks :( I love the name Easton and my husband hated it so I didn't get to keep it :(
  • I need honest feedback. My son is Finn, and we found out we’re having another boy. I love the name Thatcher. It’s really one of the only names DH and I can agree on, however I’m wondering is it a problem that both names are in books “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn?” I did not even realize that Thatcher (Judge Thatcher and Becky Thatcher) were names in the books at the time I fell in love with the name. So, tell me...too strong of an association or who cares? I’m totally on the fence! Thanks in advance!
