  • @asf0613 woohoo for more bump time!
  • @gusgus14 Yeah..... hard pass. Not only is everything you mentioned a good reason not to move it, have you ever waiting for a 2pm appointment? EVERYTHING gets delayed the further back in the day you get, so by the time you make it to 2pm, it's more like 2:45.

    *Loss 8/2014*
    *Rainbow 8/2015*
    *Expected Rainbows 12/2018*
    *Loss of Twin 5/2018*

  • @texas_t yep! I always try to get morning appointments to avoid that. The only afternoon appointments I've been making are at MFM but that's been their only availability and those appointments are so long that I basically have to take the afternoon off anyway so if they're delayed it doesn't really matter. But I can't start doing that in back to back weeks.

@gusgus14 yes, no need for two vaginal ultrasounds in a row. How awkward is it when they ask (with words or their face) "are we in the right place?"
  • @gusgus14 weird question--are you getting glucose test this early because of twins? i dont have mine til end of march.  and boo to afternoon appointments!!!  also sorry i didnt post the TTGP thread last week, barely even lurked last week! or did i post it and forget? completely unsure as the days have blurred together over here.  i feel like i should just personally apologize to you since its just us in that little bubble lol
  • @mimser or "just let me know if I'm in the wrong spot!" Like what?? Please don't shove that thing up my butt.
@asf0613 nope, it's because of my BMI being over 30 this time (for the record, it's 30.4 *eyeroll*) but the chance of GD is higher with twins so it's probably not the worst thing plus I can just get it over with. My OB already told me most people carrying twins fail the first glucose test so I'm already preparing myself to have to take the 3 hour test (I only had to do the 1 hour test last time and passed fine!). And it's okay! Don't feel obligated to keep posting it! It's just the two of us and we have so many other check ins  :)
  • @gusgus14 fingers crossed that you only have to do this one once too (even if it is assumed you will fail it) but boo i hate that its so cut and dry that .4 makes you have to take it so early!
  • Wooooo boy. We took the dogs on a walk today to help them burn some pent up energy since I can finally spend some time off the couch and it was fine during but now my pelvic bone feels like it’s going to snap in half every time I take a step. Resting up on the couch for the rest of the night!
  • @asf0613 if it makes you feel better @yellingbanana keepa posting the week 1 check in and it's mostly just been me and her😂

We have a busy week of all the holiday things. Drive through zoo lights, baking cookies, sending out cards, and watching 500 movies. How is Christmas next week?

I know at least one bumpie had posted about Hanukkah (I believe @mrosek91 but could definitely be wrong) I hope you are able to celebrate even though everything is so different this year!

  • @nbcarlson yep it's me!! Work has been a little crazy, so I wasn't able to take time off like usual, but since I usually use that time to travel to family, it's ok. My synagogue has been doing a lot of nice programing, one night last week they had prepackaged bags of ingredients, and then did a zoom bake-along we made parmesan pesto rugalach, and then they also gave out mold your own chocolate supplies, so I hope to do that one night this week with the boys.
Sunday they did a "How well do you know your neighbor" drive around scavenger hunt. Each house had a sign in the yard with a hint to take you to the next house. Then they had prepackaged latkes and donuts for us to pick up, and we got to visit with our friends outside (with masks and socially distanced).
Tonight another family from our bubble is coming over, and we're going to make our own latkes, I'm really excited.

I feel bad, every time one of these events happens I think of coming on, and telling you ladies, but work has just been so crazy. Hopefully after this week thinks will start to slow down a little.
  • @mrosek91 that sounds awesome!!! Seriously! What an awesome synagogue!
We used to have a church that we loved, with a great neighborhood and pastor. But we moved and haven’t been able to find one that is for us. Ok, we haven’t tried that hard, but we’ve been to 4 or 5 churches in the area, they just weren’t for us. I guess it doesn’t matter too much, usually our weekends are full of kids soccer!

@gusgus14 oh heck no. It sounds like they’re either trying to get more things to bill, or just to follow protocol without looking at your schedule.

I have an mfm ultrasound on Friday morning at 7:45, DH has to wait in the lobby. I feel so bad he can’t see the baby. But right afterwards, we are going downtown so DH can get surgery on his sinuses. And his recovery time is during our Christmas vacation. I just saw that he was prescribed amoxicillin, which I am very allergic to. So we have to be super careful for 10 days about that too. (Can’t even dtd without protection!🙄). Amoxicillin is my enemy.

  • @yellingbanana exactly! The OB said today during my appointment (without the cervical length check) that MFM wants serial cervical checks and that those would be every 2 weeks but nobody at MFM or the OB has ever said anything about doing anything every 2 weeks sooooo nope!

I'm even more annoyed with the OB's office today because I got there and left a urine sample per usual (I've actually had the worst time leaving samples because I pee as soon as I wake up and never have to go again in time for my appointment so I've been having to do it at the end of each appointment so this was the first time I've actually been able to leave one straight away) and then during the appointment the OB was like "Oh we should do a urine culture since you had that UTI (TWO MONTHS AGO and I've had an appointment since then but I guess they didn't think to recheck it then) so hopefully you can leave another sample." Dude, I just emptied my bladder like 2 minutes ago, wtf? You looked at my chart yesterday, could you not have noted it then? So she brings me this giant cup of water which I chug and then after a few minutes I try to go to the bathroom but nothing. I ended up drinking 6 dixie cups of water after that and sitting on the toilet for 20 minutes before I finally said screw it and checked out and left. I told the lady at check out that I was supposed to leave one but it wasn't happening and I couldn't sit there all day waiting to pee so I'd come back another time. So now I have to drive across town in the morning just to go pee.
  • @mrosek91 that sounds like such an amazing community you have!

  • @gusgus14 If your cervix was looking good last time I don't think you require a check every 2 weeks either. Plus they'll get a good look at your A/S and if they need to double check they will. I had 2 in 2 weeks because of my history but now I don't have anything else scheduled aside from my A/S in 2 weeks, 3 weeks after my last cervical lenght.

I also wish I had your ability to not pee for so long! For me water goes straight from my mouth to my bladder these days it's ridiculous. When my fiancé calls me to come eat dinner, he plans for time for me to go pee even if I tell him I just went because as soon as I stand up I have to go 😅
  • Hey if anyone wants to start the STM check in tomorrow feel free! I’m not going to be able to get on until later in the morning since I have to go back to the OB’s office just to pee in the morning and then I’ve got some stuff I’ve got to tackle at work. If it’s not up when I can finally check in I’ll start it  :)
  • @mrosek91 That sounds like a lot of fun.

On Sunday the other leaders of a youth group I participate in decided to visit all of the teens who have been actively participating in zoom this year and dropping off a small gift. Spur of the moment I decided to go crazy baking cookies, 10 dozen I think in the end, gingersnaps, snickerdoodles and red and green butter cookies.

When they came by the house, (one of those teens lives at my house) I forgot how much I missed them all. I hadn't seen some in person since last year when we finished the year in December. And I really missed baking for the teens. Zoom is a great way to keep in contact but it just isn't the same.
  • What is everyone’s favorite prenatal they are taking? I only gave the smartie pants gummies left and I just can’t stomach them, I have to take 4 and they don’t taste great! Here is what I’m looking for:

    Pill form
2 x day max, 1 x day would be awesome!
Would like it to have Choline
    no fishy burps lol
    Easy on the stomach/nausea

*really cautious/nervous about the natural organic ones and how they may smell lol. I found one I was almost going to get on Amazon, the Actif Organic Prenatal but some reviews said the pills arrived with a few burst making the rest oily, or an odd smell, etc.

@brynn_mamaof4 Not my favourite, my least favourite was from Walmart, equate prenatal + DHA multivitamin softgels. They weren't bad, but I had a strong food aversion to them.
The fish oil seeping out, the fishy aftertaste. It was the worst moment of my day. I had to drink tons of water to wash them down and would take them before the meal so I wasn't tasting them for hours. 🤢
  • I actually took a bump pic this week so I'm ready for HDBD😂 20 weeks seemed important.

  • @brynn_mamaof4 so it doesnt have Choline, but i take the naturemade prenatals with DHA.  its one pill per day and i never had issues with nausea

I haven't had any issues with this one.  I don't know if it as choline in it, but it's 1 pill and no funny taste.  I take it at night and haven't noticed any issues with nausea when taking it.

  • @littlelibelula that sounds awful!! I don’t blame you. Prenatals are so tricky and it’s so awful to feel terrible from something that is supposed to be great lol!

@asf0613 those are ones I was looking at, good to hear! I’ve been finding that even the ones with choline have a very small percentage of the daily value so may not really be worth it as a ruler outer

@texas_t I’ll check them out! I like gummies but the ones I have taste very vitamin like. They are bad by trying to get down 4-6 per day is tough.

@mkc3888 awesome thanks! I will check them out. 1 pill per day is my jam lol.
  • I've been off in work/interview land this week and feel like I missed a lot in here these past couple days!!

@mrosek91 you mentioned you're slammed at work too...would you like me to post the product spotlight thread? I won't have your flair but I could get it started. LMK!

@brynn_mamaof4 if you get the Naturemade with DHA, don’t get them from Costco. Get them in smaller quantities from somewhere else. When I get them for Costco, after a month or so, they start smelling super fishy because the omega is leaking out. Then they do become hard to take!

Here is what I take instead, I like the prenatals because they include a superfood blend. They do have Choline too.

Also, I go with krill oil for omega because they don’t have any mercury. Otherwise I’ll grab a vegetarian omega pill.

  • I take the Rainbow Light prenatals and a separate DHA as well. Ive taken the prenatals for years and have never had an issue. I keep both in the fridge...the vitamins smell too vitamin-y to me when left out, and refrigerating omega/other fat supplements cuts down/eliminates on the burps they can cause.
  • @ec1212 I can't believe I totally forgot about the product spotlight!! Thanks for the reminder.
I actually am fairly uncreative, I steal all the prompts from the woman who did it for my A19 BMB (with her permission). I just posted it!
  • @brynn_mamaof4 I loooved the Smarty Pants! 😅 I could eat them all day. Now I take Materna, pretty basic, I've always done well on it. My OB didn't recommend I change it to one with DHA. It doesn't have choline but I eat eggs almost daily. I also have a spreadsheet with food that are natural sources for some of the vitamins and minerals we need 🤓 and I grocery shop and eat in consequence.

  • @brynn_mamaof4 I’ve been taking this brand,I had an Amazon subscription for a once/day version but it’s currently sold out so I’m subbing with this one, but it has choline! I don’t think they have a weird smell or flavor but I also keep in the fridge because my probiotic is refrigerated. This may be common among prenatals but it didn’t have much vit C or D so I also added a D supplement for winter and citrus bioflavonoids(C) which my midwife recommended, and calcium/magnesium too. I’m popping pills all day 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • @yellingbanana believe it or not I was actually checking those out! Glad to hear.

I would have never thought to keep in the fridge but I bet that is super helpful, I will try that!
  • Just went to the store and got one of these bad boys on sale. And then found out my mom bought me a Kringle from Trader Joe’s today too! I love them! Two of my kids do too, I’m so excited to eat so much Kringle 😆

  • I am so annoyed with my OB's office. They always say that we should use the portal, so I sent them a message on 2 days ago on the portal asking if I can combine the spina bifida test with the AS, crickets, so today I figured I need to get on the schedule before they fill up and just called. The scheduler couldn't book the AS without a doctor's order, so she forwarded me to the nurses' line. They specifically ask for the best time to call back, and I said afternoon, but she called me to 11:00 as I was wrapping up a client call, so I just missed it!
And she said that they can't combine the two visits. Why do I have to go in to see the doctor for 5 minutes and tell them I don't have any questions, and get my blood drawn only to go back a week later!!! And I know that getting on the schedule is going to be impossible and waiting another week and half to do that is going to make it worse.
Ugh, why are doctors so frustrating?!?!
  • @nbcarlson yeah that is a hard no from me too! Completely inappropriate

  • @nbcarlson yup that is not ok. There is some stuff like that on the May2021preggers subreddit as well. Also, it feels like most of those moms are very new or maybe very young. Because I feel like the old wise lady saying ‘no, you shouldn’t opt for a c-section even if birth scares you’.

    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers

  • @yellingbanana This time around, with my VBAC research I'm so surprised how many first time moms opt for csection because it's "easier" o they "don't want to go through natural birth". Hopefully I dont offend anyone but, if my body is designed for birth, why would I cut myself open if I didn't need to? it baffles my mind. (However it was amazing how fast a csection babies birth is)
  • I honestly didn't even know you could opt for a c-section. This will be my third c-section and I'm already freaking out. Also if they saw my abs before and after c-sections I bet they would reconsider real quick lol. The weird lower ab issue from it is nearly impossible to fix.
