  • @ashleyhj29 yes! Mine was at 5w5d, and I was so scared. Everything looked good, though, and that helped a lot with my overall anxiety. Fx for you!
  • I'm so sad they had to move mine to Monday! I wanted that reassurance sooner. :( Odds are all is well but definitely still stressin'!

  • @claireloSC that’s when mine is too!
@shoogapoff that’s how far along I will be for mine. Were they just checking for the sac?
  • @lrynwnab if you check at 6 weeks or later you miiiiight get a heartbeat. At - 6 weeks, likely just a sac, yeah.
    Baby Birthday Ticker TickerMarried DW <3 08.2013; AI 2x; IUI 6x; IUI #7 05.2015; DD born 2.2016 o:); Reciprocal IVF FET #1 on 11.18.2020
  • @lrynwnab We didn't hear the heartbeat, but we were able to see the waveform of it, so there was some circulation. They measured the embryo too.

So I called the midwife I want to use today to see if I could get on her schedule. She wants to see me next week! I explained that I hadn't graduated from my RE yet, and she didn't care. She really likes to do a scan between 7 and 9 weeks herself, so I guess I'm getting another ultrasound after all.
  • @shoogapoff thank you, that is cool.
  • Hi, thanks for starting this thread...

I don't know how long I will be here. I got a faint positive this morning 5dp6dt (5 days post 6 day transfer). My HCG trigger for my embryo transfer was just 12 days ago and I read that FRER's can pick up 1/1,000th of an IU.

I will be so disappointed if this doesn't work after 2 surgeries, 2 egg retrievals and the side effects and stress of a transfer. I am so happy to have hope! It makes me feel so good again.. I think I was in a really dark place for the past 2 years. I hope if there are other IVF graduates, maybe they can relate.

  • So, today is 6dp6dt and my line is still there, but more faint than yesterday. I drank more water yesterday, but also wondering if I never tested the trigger out? I have been reassured by my nausea, but also *just* remembered that I started taking extra folate, which tends to make me nauseous. *palm to the head* I am going to have a talk with my body now and tell it to quit giving me mixed signals.

  • Don't worry about the line. A line is a line. Mine got lighter too and I have had two good betas. I would just wait for the beta. Fwiw my trigger didn't give me a positive, I made sure to test before the FET to get a negative, and then tested after the FET and started getting positives.

  • @claireloSC Wow, that is really interesting..... That was smart of you to test during the trigger. Today's FRER line turned out a bit darker compared to yesterdays. But I still have had period cramps all night and today, so not very optimistic. DH is calling to get my beta moved up. FX! Waiting until Sunday will stink.

  • I am freaking out today. I have my 1st US and I’m 5w6d. I feel like my symptoms have gone away. It may be bc my anxiety has taken over 🤦🏼‍♀️
I’m so afraid of bad news today. Shouldn’t I be having more symptoms at 6w??

  • @ashleyhj29 I didn't have any symptoms at all with my son.  My daughter I was SUPER nauseated but not until after 6 weeks.  Probably closer to 8, I don't remember exactly but it wasn't that early.

  • I'm so sick of these progesterone shots! They hurt! Can't wait to wean off them, they are killing me.

  • I hear you @claireloSC. I dread it every night.
  • Good news! Everything went well at my US yesterday! We even saw a little flicker of a heartbeat! It was too early to hear/measure so I have another US next week! It definitely calmed my nerves. Prior to the US, I was LITERALLY SHAKING in the office. So much so the nurse taking my blood couldn't do it until after the US :D

@ashleyhj29 yay! What a relief! When do you go back?

@ashleyhj29 That makes me tear up a little bit. I am so happy for you. Is this your 1st or 2nd US? Edited: I saw this was your second and read what you posted in the other thread. I can't imagine going through multiple rounds of IVF transfers. 2 surgeries+2 retrievals+1 transfer was really hard! I am enjoying this reprieve and totally get it!

  • @ashleyhj29 Don't panic yet! "if a heartbeat is seen on ultrasound, over 90% of women who experience first trimester vaginal bleeding will not miscarry." From WebMD. Hope it's nothing!

  • @ashleyhj29 It is probably things shifting around in there or a small hematoma. Spotting is more common in women who have had IVF and usually resolves on its own. Let us know what your doctor says!

  • @ashleyhj29 spotting can happen after a trans vaginal us too. I’d call to double check but I hope it’s normal.
  • Hi everyone! I’d like to jump in! I am 4w today and after having my DD suffered secondary infertility for almost 5 years.  We had 6-7(maybe 8?) failed iui attempts and just decided to leave it all alone.

    **TW**

We had a surprise pregnancy in April that didn’t make it past 8w unfortunately.
  • Nice to meet you!! @mrspants0809 Sorry to hear about your loss and all of the anxiety that comes with it. My husband and I also have secondary IF.  Are you on progesterone?

  • @bobbyflies2020 no I am not. My numbers have always been good. The loss was a genetic issue (either the egg had 2 sets of chromosomes or 2 sperm fertilized one normal egg) and had 3 sets of all chromosomes.  We had actually stopped all treatments a couple of years ago and have joked that neither of us needed to do anything to prevent pregnancy because of the secondary IF. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️  Coping skills at work there lol
  • @ashleyhj29 just checking in on you... were you able to talk to your doc?
  • @ashleyhj29 I'm glad to hear it! I really think it was probably from your ultrasound. I had brown spotting a couple days after my scan, and it went away pretty quickly.
  • how are you feeling, @ashleyhj29?

Just got back from my 6w u/s. Everything was normal, except no heartbeat could be seen yet. So, another week of crippling anxiety until my next appointment :) I know this is normal. Was just hoping to be able to see it. They'll call with my bloodwork later today.

Mondays are pretty packed at my RE and I had to wait 45 min for my u/s, which is long for them. As I was walking into the room the nurse said "is it OK if we have a male resident do the exam?" I was like hell. no. Sorry but I couldn't even sleep last night I was so worried for this ultrasound, then I had to wait 45 min; I'm not having a rookie who might say the wrong thing do my u/s. They were probably annoyed but whatev.

@lrynwnab Ha! I would have been caught off guard by that question, too. Sorry they didn't catch the heartbeat. Your little embryo is probably developing its heart right now.

  • Good news, my beta yesterday was positive! HCG was 350, so just have to see if it doubles tomorrow. I know things can change, but in this moment, I am happy. Yesterday I napped from 9-12PM and from 2-4. I only got up to slam down some cheeseburgers. At this early stage, I am not pushing myself to do anything. Just rest, eat amd drink lots of water. ☺💤🌸

Good for you for advocating for yourself I you weren't comfortable. I had a similar situation when my son was born. He was due at the very beginning of July. Fresh baby residents start July 1. I was already super weary of getting and epidural due to complications I had with a spinal tap in high school. I refused to let a residents one month out of medical stick something in my back. I made it really clear to the nurse and also refused to sign the consent forms for residents performing the procedure. Anyway, they had the head of the department do it when I finally got my epi. I am a huge supporter of teaching in a profession (my office always has interns) however, I'm not looking to be the guinea pig when I'm already anxious and in pain.
