I think where this is stemming from is the fact that the placenta has a spike protein (I’m not even sure if you would call it a spike protein) similar to the spike protein on COVID. The thing is, unless those proteins are the exact same protein, it should have zero affect on it.
I’m definitely in the group of individuals who won’t be the first to jump in line for this vaccine. I need to read more research about it and I want to see how the first round plays out. However, I’m not willing to just believe everything I read about this vaccine. The anti-Vaxxers are out in full force. I have always been on the side of making sure my kids are fully vaccinated and I will eventually be getting the COVID vaccine. I just want to make sure I know as much as possible about it before I do. My husband is on the frontline and asthmatic (although we both had it last month) he has told me he doesn’t want to get it again.
TW: COVID and pregnancy... I’ve been MIA the last couple of days. I got sick Monday night and COVID tested on Tuesday. I’m waiting on results, but based on my symptoms (fever, chills, body aches, headache, diarrhea), I’m pretty sure I have it. Plus, I’m a teacher, and we had two confirmed cases at our school last week. Honestly, the anxiety over my COVID results has overshadowed my PGAL anxiety. Plus, I don’t isolate from my parents because my mom helps with my daycare needs. And my mom is sick too. I’m just feeling VERY overwhelmed and anxious. My parents are 61 and 64 with no underlying health issues, but I just feel gutted that I exposed them to this. Not to mention, the unknown of what COVID can do in the early stages of pregnancy. Lots and LOTS of emotions over here...
@cyanope I am sorry you are going through that. I have been exposed to Covid so many times this past few months. I just go with the flow now. We have a limited circle we hang out with and social distance out in public. But I work in Family Health Care and we have a COVID drive through line. Before I found out I was pregnant I was over there helping out constantly. (Always in full PPE, but still). I'd had friends that we have opened up our circle to, that have texted several days later saying they tested positive. Heck, my brother had it over thanksgiving and was with my 90 year grandmother in the car for 4 hours. He had no idea he had it. She amazingly didn't get it nor did my parents.

@cyanope I'm sorry! It's so random who gets super sick or not, so hoping you all stay ok and are on the side of milder cases. But it's everywhere, you can't make yourself feel too bad about it. It's just tough to stay away from if you are out in the world!

@cyanope wow that is a lot. I hope your covid test is negative and you feel better soon. How are you feeling? Did you get your results yet? How is your mom?
Any other athletes in the group? I work out with a HR monitor and I’m already seeing a big jump in my HR. My pulse is normally very low. I know that a jump occurs in later pregnancy because your heart is pumping more blood, I’m just shocked to see it already.
Thanks, everyone. I got my results back last night. As expected, I have COVID. Besides the first day, things have been pretty mild. Same with my parents. I’m just praying they stay that way!
