Tomorrow afternoon! Check up with MFM and early a/s. I think they are also going to measure my cervix since early labor is a concern with multiples. Really wishing I had tried to get a morning appointment though. Getting through the first half of work tomorrow is going to be a struggle!
Had my first in person ob appointment at 13w 6d which was short and good. Next appointment will be 4 weeks again televisit as long as I can get a blood pressure monitor.
My appointment went well this morning. It turned out to be only an abdominal ultrasound. So I'm slightly disappointed that we didn't look at my cervix from up close, but the tech checked with the doctor and it wasn't necessary since I had a good lenght measurement abdominally.
Amniotic fluid was in a good quantity, cervix was long, cerclage looked good and my little baby was doing good! We looked at him from all angles, saw all limbs, a nice heartbeat, stomach and bladder. He kept "eating" it seemed, always had his mouth opened 😅
I'm looking forward to my Thursday appointment with my doc.
Had a great appointment at MFM today. Got to find out we're having two boys and they looked great. Measuring right on target and already kicking each other in the head (again lol). After the a/s we switched to a transvaginal ultrasound to check my cervix which was deemed "beautiful" Super long and apparently I got the gold star cervix award of the day hahaha
Haha @gusgus14 I'm jealous of your vaginal scan 😅 My cervix was long too, but I just feel like it's less official since it was abdominal 🤷♀️😂 I'm glad all looked good though 😊
So happy for you @mimser! Can’t get over how cute your ultrasound pic is. And glad you also get to see your regular doctor this week.
I wasn’t supposed to go in till Monday but today I called because I’ve had a lot of pressure after urinating. So I went in to rule out a UTI or other infection, and also get a vaginal u/s to check cervical length. Cervical length is fine...baby is fine! But I have complete placenta previa. So now I’m on modified bed rest—no exercise, sex, lifting anything heavy, etc. And then if placenta stays previa (which the on call doctor seemed to think was likely) I’ll need a c-section as vaginal birth is not possible.
I’m feeling ok about this to be honest, and trying not to worry. I will follow modified bed rest and hope that I don’t bleed. If anyone has experienced this though and has tips, I’d love to hear them!
@mimser I don’t know why for sure! But I asked and he said it’s unlikely. When I googled at home, I realized maybe it’s because apparently the placenta is less likely to move when the diagnosis is complete previa, and mine is. They were able to measure my cervix but couldn’t actually see it all because the placenta was just all the way over it. But it sounds like you had the same thing at 12w and it moved so I’m keeping my hopes up.
Had a quick OB appt today. He said everything looked great for me being almost 17w! Baby girl's HB was loud and clear ♡ tomorrow I meet with my hematologist to make sure platelets look good!
Completely forgot to mention yesterday that we found out Baby B has a marginal cord insertion. MFM isn’t concerned at this point but it could cause growth issues later on. I’m not worried about it as of right now.
I had my appointment with my high risk OB today, it went well, I was able to ask all my questions as usual. Did I say I love her? She's just always ahead of all my worries, it's so nice.
She said she was satisfied with my ultrasound this week and cervical lenght. She officially changed my due date for May 17. I had my anatomy scan scheduled at 21w3, but she wants me to get it the week before, so she called to make a request. Hopefully they can move me. My next appointment with her is in 6 weeks, when she said that I was like "Ok" (OMG in 6 weeks?!?!). Then she was like, what do you think if we do another cervical lenght ultrasound in 2-3 weeks to check on things as we approach 20 weeks? I said that would really reassure me! She also did some swabs and is sending me to do a urine culture so we can rule out any infection. We'll do that every 6 weeks or so.
Other than that my BP was still on the higher end of normal (132/87) in the office when I've been taking optimal BPs at home for 3 weeks 😅 So she just has me keep tracking it at home.
Finally, we listened to baby's heartbeat, strong at 153 BPM. 😍
I don’t remember where we were talking about the AFP test (for spina bifida) but I got my results from Monday back this morning and they’re within normal levels. Will wait ‘til they get a good luck at the 20 wk scan but feeling thankful for that.
I had 2 appointments yesterday. My first appointment was with my new obgyn. It went well for the most part. The wait was a while, but overall it went well. I really like her nurse. She asked me about genetic testing and said she saw I declined and I told her I declined because my old ob didn’t really give me any info on it and she explained exactly what they would be testing for. I still decided against, but I just like to know what I’m doing. I asked my obgyn about vbac. She seemed more open to it than my last ob and explained it more to me. She said that with having diabetes and being controlled with insulin now or being uncontrolled later because the placenta makes it more difficult to manage. If that’s the case they would want to induce by 39 weeks. She said if I have to be induced my chances of a successful vbac go down. If I go into labor naturally I have a good change on a successful vbac. So all that to say I’ll probably end up with a section, but if I do go into labor on my own I’ll try for a vbac. I asked about the covid vaccine and she said they don’t have the information to be able to give a recommendation at this time. She also said that she likes questions and to bring a list and we can talk about any questions at my next appointment or to call the office if it can’t wait until the next appointment. I feel so good about my decision to switch now. I was a bit worried at first but I feel better now. Oh and when they took out the Doppler to check for heartbeat the nurse couldn’t find it, so she sent me in for a quick ultrasound to get the heartbeat. All was good
My second appointment with with the np and my mfm’s office. I got my ultrasound but not many pics to take home. Found out little one is a boy! He looks so much like a little person now. Mostly his skeleton looks just like a halloween costume, lol. It was cool to see something that looked more recognizable. My blood pressure was a little high when the nurse took it with the machine but when she did the manual it was fine. They want me to do a 24hoir urine collection to get a baseline of kidney function or is pre eclampsia comes up. So I’ll be doing that soon. All in all it was a good day of appointments.

@mkc3888 I'm glad to hear both appointments were good.and that you are happy with the decision to change your OB. I also asked about the COVID vaccine and was told the same thing. She said it was approved in europe for pregnant women but not breastfeeding moms which we both found a bit odd but who knows. I was curious what the ruling will be because since I work in a hospital, I will likely be offered the vaccine within the next couple of weeks. She did say tho that she would encourage anyone around me to get it for herd immunity at least with my close family and friends.
@spartan4life I expect to be offered it too. I work for a hospital system, but not in the main hospital, so who knows if I’ll get offered it, but it’s a possibility. I asked about it at my mfm appointment and she said they didn’t have a recommendation from ACOG at this time but most people are going based on how they feel. I think it’s really weird that Europe approved for pregnancy but not breastfeeding.

@mkc3888@spartan4life maybe the vaccine transfers more directly from your blood to baby through breastmilk? I’ve seen differing things too & was curious if pregnant women would be offered it.
@mkc3888 FWIW, I have a friend who had a successful VBAC after getting induced this summer, hers was at 41 weeks.
Where I live I probably won't be offered the COVID vaccine until baby is here, so I'm not thinking about this too much. Afterwards, I'll have to ask my doctor and do some reading. Honestly I'm not super excited about it but we'll see then. I probably have at least until summer to think about all this
