@mc0303 and @llamamamawearspajamapants I had a rise in BP at 36 weeks with DD so they induced at 37 weeks. It was 5 days of labor. Not ideal because I couldn't eat for 3 of the days since I had an epidural, by the time I was pushing I was exhausted. I am on baby aspirin this time around again, hoping I don't get another SCH, because that is why I went off of it last time. OB has already said for me to be ready to go at 36 weeks just in case another BP rise.
AFM: Had appointment today! We tried hearing heartbeat with doppler but she/he was sitting too low still. Then tried to do an ultrasound, but it showed the uterus sitting pretty low behind the pelvic bone, so we switched to TV and got a nice pretty picture and video. Baby was dancing away with arms and legs moving all around! I do my NIPT either tomorrow or Monday. Next appointment is in 2 weeks, then no more ultrasounds until anatomy scan at 18 weeks. Love that we have got to see her/him 3 times already, but it will be so long for that 6 week wait.
@Omie_Wise I totally brought food with me in my hospital bag. I was told that I couldn't eat all day so I kept sneaking in snacks when the nurse wasn't there. That was so helpful. I'm glad they are letting you eat. We need our strength to push.
@llamamamawearspajamapants oh I still have nightmares over pitocin. I wasn't progressing in labor 12 hours after my water broke so I needed it to jump start contractions. It jump started vomiting and not contractions. I ended up with an epidural about 4 hours later in order for me to progress, sleep and stop vomiting.
@Omie_Wise and @mc0303 I wish I could have eaten during labor. I ate on the way to the hospital, but I was only allowed popsicles. Probably a good thing since the pain of the contractions had me throwing up before I got my epidural. DS was born at 2 a.m. and the cafeteria at the hospital was closed. I hadn't eaten since 8:30 a.m., and the nurses had some sandwiches that have been delivered at dinnertime for moms like me. I did not care that it was dry (no mayo or anything) and probably 8 to 10 hours old, it was the BEST sandwich I have ever eaten!!

My second baby, I pushed out 15 minutes before dinner closed. My nurse rang me up an order and I was able to eat it about an hour later when I got into my recovery room. I was so thankful for that! I also ate breakfast before I checked into the hospital, against orders because I was getting induced. But there was no way I was going into an induction without eating.
Hospital turkey sandwich ftw! With my 3rd, I remember saying between contractions, “don’t judge me - but is the kitchen going to be closed when I’m done because I know I’m going to be ravenous!” Lol it was an intense and precipitous labor and (7:30PM-10:00PM all told) and I hadn’t eaten since an early lunch. Kitchen was closed but that turkey sandwich was magnificent.

I just had my 2 appts today. One with my GP which went great and he said my ultrasound results and baby look great. He’s happy. He’s doing up the NIPT paperwork for me, so once I get that I’ll have the blood draw done this week sometime. I told him about my constipation. He recommended that I take restorolax which is safe for pregnancy. I can also take Metamucil but it’s just fibre he said and if you don’t drink a butt load of water daily it can plug you up more and just cause a jam in there. He also suggested milk of magnesium and lactulose. If none of those work then I can call him and we can find an alternative.
Appt with the OB went alright. It was a really long appt. Had everything under the sun done. Had to pee in a cup to test for proteins and sugars in my pee. She also gave me a full physical today. Nothing like getting buck ass naked in an office 😆 She checked my Blood pressure and that was perfect and good. She also checked and felt my breasts, everything looks good with no lumps, bumps or cancer. Yay. She also did a quick kind of pap down below but just checked my cervix to make sure all was ok. She said it looked good and healed but I apparently have a polyp now 🤷♀️ She said it was a cyst before and now it’s turned into polyp. Oh goody. Like I need anything else. I feel like every time I go in I just hear something else new about my insides. Stupid janky cervix 😢 Does anyone else have polyps or have had them and they went away? I know nothing about them. What do they do? Should I be worried? She says from sex it can bleed lots. That scares me. She swabbed my insides to test for yeast and bacteria vaginosis. She will send those to the lab. FX I don’t have any of that or will have to go on antibiotics for a bit. I got a crap ton of paperwork for blood tests to do this week. She wants me to check for toxoplasmosis cause I have a cat. If I’m positive for that it’s not good as it can cause serious birth defects. Shes also getting a blood panel done to check all of my red/white blood cells, thyroid levels, iron levels etc along with all the HIV, hepatitis and all the infectious diseases. oh the joys of pregnancy and being poked and prodded. I also go for an ultrasound on Dec 21st for my 15 week to check my cervix length. I’m nervous for that. FX it’s normal length. She did use the Doppler today but couldn’t find the baby’s heartbeat I’m only 10 weeks today so she said it’s too early still but can do it next time as I’ll be 13 weeks then so should be able to hear it.
@mindyb2019 I'm glad you had good appointments. I had a polyp with DS they are really common in pregnancy from all the estrogen. They are benign, just annoying because any irritation can cause bleeding. Mine cleared up on its own after a while. I definitely wouldn't worry
I have my first ultrasound and intake appointment tomorrow. Fx it all goes well
@artsiefartsie oh ok thank you. Ya I heard they are caused from all the estrogen. I sure hope it goes away like yours did. FX. Did yours bleed at all from sex or irritation of any kind?? I guess everything was ok with baby in the end? How long did it take to go away for you? My OB said its rare that they go away on its own which makes me worry I worry about it growing bigger and bigger and causing issues. I hope your first ultrasound goes well tomorrow.
@mindyb2019 I have a cat and my Dr has never told me I'm being tested for toxoplasmosis... But I know they usually take a shot ton of blood at the first appointment so I'm assuming it's in there. From what I've read/heard if you've had a cat at any time in your life you've probably been exposed already... I think the worry is if you're exposed to it for the first time ever during pregnancy, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. I totally use it as an excuse to not change the cat box during pregnancy (my Dr said not necessary but I'm not telling DH!), but odds are you're ok I hope the suggestions your GP gave you help!!
@mindyb2019 My doc said they are common and rarely cause problems. She said some women have them until after delivery and some just go away. I had a bit of spotting with it after exams, and once after sex that led to us basically not doing anything penetrative anymore lol because it freaked me out. But yeah, DS was always completely fine. He's almost 4 now ❤
On the toxoplasmosis topic, it also depends on if the cat is inside only or both. Inside only cats aren't really issues, because like @_orchid_ said the issue is if you get it for the first time during pregnancy. I also use it as the excuse for not cleaning out the litter box 😄
So interesting @_orchid_! My Dr made a point at our last appointment that I was not to touch the litter box and directly told MH it was his job now. She was very concerned.
@_orchid_@artsiefartsie weird cause my Dr has strictly told me as well to not change the litter box and to make my husband do it. Our cat is strictly indoor only so im pretty sure ill be negative for toxoplasmosis. I'd be shocked if I wasn't.
@tilournextadventure I think it might be bc of what @artsiefartsie said- I had multiple indoor/outdoor cats growing up, until early 20s, so my Dr said I was likely exposed. My cat now is indoors only, and she just told me to make sure I thoroughly wash hands afterwards. Keep in mind our conversation about it was in 2013, so I might not be remembering all the details, but def remember getting the ok.
@_orchid_ gotcha! Any excuse to be out of doing the litter box I'll take. I've also had cats my entire life (both indoor and outdoor), so now that you say that I might have been exposed to it as well.
I do remember my Dr making a point to tell me to wear gloves when gardening and wash hands thoroughly bc of toxoplasmosis (for stray cat poop) so just FYI. Highly doubt I'll be planting anything this round though
My doctor didn’t even ask if we had a cat. We have two that are inside only. I’ve had cats my whole life so I’m sure I’ve already been exposed to it. My husband was adamant that I can not clean the cat box. It’s now our 7 year old son’s job which is good cause he needs to pitch in more on chores anyways.
None of my OBs or REs have ever asked if we had a cat. I know from general knowledge not to change the litter box, but seems weird to actually be tested unless she suspects exposure. Maybe just covering all the bases.
@mindyb2019 Glad your appointment went well! Although it sounds very thorough!
I had my dating ultrasound this morning. My EDD based on my last period was June 2 (11+6 today) and they dated me for May 31 at 12+1 so progressing right along.
I’m curious to see if my doctor will change my due date or leave it since it’s so close anyway. I won’t find out until my next apt second week of dec. please don’t kick me out if they make me a May DD 😂
@kristah2 - personally if I had the choice to “choose my EDD” I would always go with the later one. Most babies come “late” and the frustration built in those few days can be a lot! Also, with my 3rd I was very close to having to be induced. My MW gets antsy around 10 days post dates, but I pushed for 14. Baby came on her own at 10 days post dates and I avoided any induction measures just good for thought, especially if you are hoping to avoid induction.

@kristah2 I have an EDD of 6/2 but baby was measuring for a 5/31 date too. My dr doesn’t move it unless it is more than 5 days difference. Apparently our babies are moving along at the same pace.
@disgruntled_pelican this is baby 3 and will be a repeat section the week before so 2 days won’t make much of a difference. I’ll likely be sectioned between msg 24-28 depending. Not a huge rush as 2 babes and I’ve never gone into labour in my own.
Appt today went well, no ultrasound but got my NIPT results and heard the Hb with the Doppler. The nurse found it so fast! And I’m over here struggling to find it with my Doppler lol
my OB keeps the due date by LMP if it’s within 5 days as well.
I had my first appointment on Tuesday and it was okay. Ultrasound was good and baby had a strong heartbeat. But I can’t shake the feeling that my OB thinks something may be off.
I’m going back in 2 weeks for a repeat ultrasound because he said it was early in the pregnancy (7w+5d)...even though that’s how far along I was with my DS at my first appointment last time and wasn’t asked to come back in. I’m trying to chalk it up to not having had a full postpartum period. And he ordered a progesterone test, which didn’t happen last time either. It came back at 18. And apparently I have GBS in my urine.
I’m telling myself that I’m not going to read into but Im feeling really uneasy. That combined with feeling *good* symptoms-wise is really doing a number on my mental health.
@mc0303 Can you contact your OB's office and ask if there are any concerns? It doesn't hurt to reach out and maybe they are just being cautious.

@mc0303 I would guess it's because you didn't have a pp period that they could reference back to for how far along you should be. It can't hurt to call and talk to a nurse about it though!
@mc0303 im sorry you having those feelings and your brain is messing with you and your mental health. FX its nothing and just in your head. Hopefully 2 weeks comes fast for you.
@mc0303 if there is something wrong, they would likely tell you right away. They may be taking other measures as a precaution to make sure they get ahead of any potential issue. Your ultrasound was good and baby's heartbeat was strong, so I would take that as a huge win
I just got to see my little bean on the V-scan machine at my MW office. It was very active, rolling around- looked like it was trying to get comfy! I’m so relieved to have seen it and finally feel connected to this pregnancy.

Had my very last appointment at the RE today, just bloodwork to check my hormone levels as I'm now officially off all the IVF meds. I'm now officially 100% under my OB's care! What a relief, I'm so tired of shots!
@laurad75@_orchid_@mindyb2019@wendy838 thanks y’all! I messaged my OB and he said everything was looking perfectly normal 🤷🏻♀️ He said I was borderline too early for when he prefers the first ultrasound since I don’t have an LMP. But if we’re counting the days I spotted as a mini period then I am right on track. So I guess it’s just an abundance of caution.
