Re: Weekly randoms

  • @gadzooks_3 Thinking of you and hoping for a great US on Friday. I’m sorry they were not very informative with the first US, the uncertainty is hard.

@marikkita12 Definitely freezing over here. But also craving ice water. And sweating at night because I’m soo HOT. My body doesn’t seem to know how to handle the hormones lol.

  • Thanks for the well wishes, I will shift the conversation to the spotting thread
  • I heard back from my ob/gyn office and I’m a little disappointed. They don’t want to see me until I’m 8 weeks along so I’m scheduled for 12-4 for my first US. The scheduler didn’t seem to care too much when I told her I ovulated really late in my cycle and I’m worried because by my calculations I’d be in week 6 for the appointment so might not be able to hear baby’s heart beat. I guess we’ll just have to see how it goes.
  • @pharmd93 I was on the same boat as you with my first pregnancy. Based on lmp I was 8 weeks but was only 6w1d. We were able to hear a nice strong heartbeat. Upside of going in earlier is that they will probably have you come back sooner than the usual 4 weeks
  • @marikkita12 thanks for easing some of my worries! I’m a FTM so I just feel like I have no clue what’s going on even though I’ve been doing as much research as I possibly can along the way.
  • I can’t get enough scrambled eggs and breakfast burritos in my life right now. I’m constantly in the mood for them. Very odd craving😆
  • @daisy528 me too!!! There’s a taco shop by my parents house so I get a burrito on days that I work: scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, potatoes and refríed beans. It’s so good. I could literally live on that and Caesar salad
  • I’m a little bummed because I’m sure Black Friday would be a great time to take advantage of deals and buy stuff for baby but I wouldn’t even know where to start plus it’s just getting way ahead of myself. Oh well, I’m sure there will be good sales later on as well 🤷‍♀️
  • @pharmd93 If you feel like you're getting ahead of yourself you might be able to do rainchecks for Black Friday sales.  We did this on Boxing Day for our stroller for DS from Babies R' Us  - didn't end up buying the stroller until that spring but got the Boxing Day price!

  • @canucklehead123 I’m totally getting way too ahead of myself. I’m a planner/worry wart by nature so I’ve been spiraling a bit the past couple days. I need to figure out a way to slow down my brain and live in the present. Thanks for letting me know about the rain check though, I’d never thought of that!
  • omg @daisy528 a breakfast burrito sounds SO FREAKING GOOD. I cannot find a decent burrito of any kind where I live  but get them every time I go home first thing.
  • I know it's early, but is anyone going the midwife/homebirth route?

  • v stupid rant: my partner offered to do laundry bc I am so tired and dried my favorite pair of LINE DRY pants and now they don’t fit. I know it’s SO stupid to be upset about something so trivial but being hormonal I’m like 😭😤😭 and now I’m just going to go to bed so I don’t overreact irl
  • @nopegoat, not a homebirth but midwives. It’s the first line of care here. I will switch to an OB around 36 weeks as I have to have a hospital birth.

  • @bkjade oh no! I'd be upset too. So sorry girl.

@AKuzReve do you mind if I ask where you are?

My others were all hospital births with an OB. We don't have a good support system here so it was a nightmare trying to find someone to stay with my other 4 and our animals. My husband had to leave immediately after to go get our boys and with Covid that's not possible this time. A homebirth would be so much less stressful in that regard.

  • @nopegoat, I’m in the Netherlands! I know many, many people who have had home births. If you’re a candidate, I would 100% go for it. I’ve heard nothing but good stories. Actually here I think something like 30% of births are home births. I’m also worried about figuring out care. Hopefully my mom can fly in and stay here for 4 weeks as I’ll be having a c/section.

  • @AKuzReve ahh the Netherlands. So cool! I hope your mom come help you. Recovering from a c-section with other littles seems daunting without decent help.

I *think* I'm a candidate for one, excluding any unforseen events of course. Though I did have gestational diabetes with one pregnancy (#3 of 5) and had PTL with #1 though went to carry him full term. I'm not worried about pain management as I've had 3 med free births and crazy fast labors.

I need to call for a consult. I'm nervous though ha!

  • @nopegoat - I am hoping to have a midwife this time, but have to meet with my OB first. I had a midwife with my first two and loved it.
  • @bkjade awesome! I wanted to use a midwife last time but insurance wouldn't help cover it. Thankfully we changed carriers this time around.

That's another thing, I have to find a new OB for my intake appt. The one I had last time moved. 😞

  • @nopegoat no home birth here, but I went the midwife route for my last birth and will for
this one. It was so different from my OB birth, and I honestly loved it. They are so caring (at least mine were) and seemed generally supportive of me and my delivery.
  • @nopegoat the idea of a home birth terrifies me because things can go from perfect to really bad really fast. Im
hoping to have a midwife this time around because I really want a vbac. I had my first appointment on Friday with a midwife and she recommended I see an OB for the rest of my pregnancy because I’m technically high risk (previous C-section, over 35, overweight and have a septum in my uterus). After the next appointment I’m still going to try and switch back to a midwife
  • @daisy528 I've only heard good things about midwives so I am excited to possibly see one this go around.

@marikkita12 that does scare me as well which is why I've had 5 hospital births so far. Possibly giving birth without my husband or giving birth on the way to the hospital scares me too ha!

  • @nopegoat, I am back with the same midwives again and I just love them. Even at the hospital, you actually have midwives and then there’s an OB that floats. Great experience with them. Our midwife practice was just the best.
