We had a fun Halloween, although DD1 got tired part way through TOTing and told me "Three more houses and I'm done." We went to three more, and she really was done. She was so cute and sweetly asked everyone for candy for her and her sister and then said thank you.
She's also been precious to me. I was sick last night and laid my head on her pillow when I was putting her to bed and she asks "Does the sick hurt you?" I said yes, and then she told me I need to go outside and get something to eat and drink and I would feel better.
Rants/Raves:
Rant: I'm sick as a dog. Literally laid around as much as I could on the weekend.
Rave: DH has been great. Even though he had a splitting headache most of the day, he did laundry, dishes, got me food, took care of the kids so I could nap, and even went grocery shopping.

We usually put up the tree on Dec 1st, but I let myself start listening to music before that.
@mc0303 Sorry about the GTKY, I edited it to me more inclusive. 🙂 We've had a time with separation anxiety here too. Not the most fun, but you can get through it!
He is at preschool, thankfully.
DS' birthday is in December so I like to wait until his birthday happens before decorating. Well yesterday when I came home he proclaimed we must put the tree up right now. So we have the tree up. I'm not planning anything else until after his birthday.
How many kids do you already have? Ages? DS1 5, DS2 2.5
How are your other kids doing this week? We just told our oldest son that we were pregnant and it was twins. He has a better understanding now of what it actually means to have a baby in the house so when we told him it was two babies, he was understandably upset and cried for almost an hour. I explained it to him his feelings are valid and I was scared too when I first found out. He's taking it better today and has shown some signs of excitement now. Our youngest smiled when we told him, but he doesn't really understand yet.

Concerns/Questions: Our oldest son as started being tested for ADHD right at the beginning of COVID, so we had to put a hold on things, but our house is really crazy with him and though our second is our much calmer and easy going child, our oldest eggs him on and together they can be a lot. I'm really stressing about adding two babies to this mix.
GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? My Birthday is in early December so growing up we always had the house decorated for Christmas by my birthday. I'm just used to it that way so I start decorating December 1.

Pretty good. DS was up early this morning with the time change but they managed pretty well.

Concerns/Questions: when are you all planning to tell your kids? With my second my oldest was only 1.5 so we told him right away since he didn’t really understand but now he’s 4 and he will get it. DH asked him if he wanted a new brother or sister the other day and he was like “no I already have one”

@mrs_massie what a sweetheart to react like that to new news. He obviously feels big feelings. I’m glad he’s coming around now. You’re obviously doing a good job to have such an empathetic child.
@kristah - I'm not planning on telling DD1 until we are ready for the world to know. She adores her little sister and talks about her all the time, and I'm sure she'll be over the moon for another one. So we'll let her know around the time we announce. I'd like to see if I can get her reaction on video.
Rants/Raves: We pulled our kids out of preschool/day care back in March because of Covid, and we're now starting to talk about taking them back. It's so hard. I've been trying to homeschool the older one, and we've done ok I think, but he's definitely missing out on some growth he could be having with kids his age and older. I'm pretty adamant that we won't take them back until next spring to avoid the winter sickness shit show, but then when they go back, they won't be able to see grandparents at all until Covid is under control with vaccines and all that. They see their grandparents all the time now. It's such a horrible choice to make... and I'm saying this with all the understanding in the world for those that haven't really had a choice in the matter to have their kids at home or at day care. I know we're lucky that I've been able to stay at home with them.

@kristah2 We probably won't tell our kids until we're past the NT scan and related bloodwork. (TW loss: We told the kids around 11 weeks last time, and luckily they were just barely young enough to not be affected too much when we lost the baby around 14 weeks. Since my oldest is almost 4 now, I really would rather be clear of that milestone before I have to do any explaining if something goes wrong again. But that's just me.)

How are your other kids doing this week? Halloween + the clocks going back were a bit of a challenge here but he is fine. We rarely ever give him candy and he's asking for it all the time now.

@kristah2 I was hoping to hold off telling DS about this baby because we told him early on the last pregnancy which ended in MC. It was tough to explain to a 3 year a MC. My plan was to not say anything to him for quite a while (and more so he doesn't tell anyone at preschool) but MH told him already so it's been interesting. I haven't heard anything from his teachers but I expect when we do tell them, they will say they already knew. 🤣
I have a jumper in my living room that I can't wait to replace with the tree. Such an eyesore and DD2 rarely uses it anymore.

GTKY: We usually put up Christmas after Thanksgiving. DS is a Christmas baby so he knows that Christmas decorations means his birthday is close lol. I'm thinking that we may actually put up decorations before Thanksgiving this year, just to cheer everyone up. Especially since we aren't really doing Thanksgiving this year.
@Lisa3379 We kept DS out of preschool this year hoping to put him back in mid year if things calmed down, but have decided just to keep him out all year. Like you said he gets to continue seeing his grandparents and now that I'm pregnant I just don't want to risk it. I'm extremely grateful that is something we can do.

How are your other kids doing this week? He’s good. He’s getting canines so he’s not been eating as much. We have a long history of health struggles due to undiagnosed allergies, which meant he barely grew for months. So the everlasting anxiety from that never goes away. Anyways he has a bad bout of eczema right now due to eating soy without us realizing and he tends to burn extra calories when he has eczema flares so it worries me to see him eating so little when usually he eats so much. Otherwise he’s in good spirits outside of eating time.
Rants/Raves: see above haha. I did a ton of bike riding this weekend (35kms/almost 22miles) and everything hurts. I also really need to go get my thyroid tested but I’ve been so busy! I’m going to try to go tomorrow. Luckily my internist gave me the upped prescription dose in anticipation of a future pregnancy so I’ve been taking that since I found out.

@kaw726 - I've never had SPD, but I cringe just thinking about it. I hope that yours isn't starting this early again.
@kristah2 we're going to wait till the end of 1st tri- right around the end of December- to tell our kids. I'd wait longer if I could (ideally after anatomy scan) but I think it's going to be hard enough to hide from DS1 (7) that long. He is very sensitive and emotional and with my loss history I'm too nervous to tell him any earlier. He's had major baby fever for the past year so he'll be very excited.
@Lisa3379 ds2 (3.5) is back at daycare part time. I don't feel great about it but we really have no choice. We have no family around that helps and already have made the decision we are not traveling or getting together with anyone for the holidays. The days he was home with us in the spring he was just in front of the TV for hours bc MH and I were both working and ds1 was doing k on the computer. It's really a tough decision, especially now.
@laurad75 @artsiefartsie also nervous about the election. It's scary to see so many businesses boarding up bc the anxiety over rioting.

How are your other kids doing this week? They loooved Halloween- I had a bunch of different activities for them and then we trick or treated in the neighborhood for about an hour. One of the activities was to make Thanksgiving decorations for the grandparents we usually spend the holiday with, so I need to get to the post office to mail them since we won't be with them this year.
Rants/Raves: they're both home from daycare and school today bc of election day. I'm trying to work upstairs and they've been downstairs howling like wolves for at least 10 minutes 😂 I'll take it over them fighting!

How are your other kids doing this week? Pretty good, their school was closed Monday & Tuesday so they only have a three day week this week. My little one goes to MDO twice a week and has that today, so I get 5 hours to myself which is nice after a long four day weekend.

@angelz429 we moved our boys into one bedroom this summer- it went better than we thought (7 + 3.5). We made a big deal about it and DS1 got to pick out a lot of things for it, which made him feel better about sharing his room. Are you thinking about moving yours in together while the baby is small or moving the baby in with one of them once you find out the sex?

How are your other kids doing this week? We are finally potty training, and she doing surprisingly well! She does great at home, but had a bad day at the sitters this week.
Rants/Raves: I am heartbroken I won't get to see my parents this Christmas. They live in Alberta and with Covid restrictions they would have to self-isolate for 14 days...and they just don't have that much time off. Char is their only grandchild and they haven't seen her for a year. My mom is devastated

We could all use some exTra joy around here. This is a new house for us (moved from NYC due to the pandemic back in July) so I’m excited to do outdoor decorations this year as we’ve lived in the city in apartments for the last decade.
