How are your other kids doing this week? Halloween + the clocks going back were a bit of a challenge here but he is fine.  We rarely ever give him candy and he's asking for it all the time now.
Rants/Raves: I'm pretty stressed out about the election tomorrow.
    Concerns/Questions:
GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.?  The second we get back from Thanksgiving I drag all my shit out.  I can't wait.

  • @marebear15 thank you!! That sounds fun. My cousin's birthday is the same day as DS and I always remembered my aunt was adamant that her birthday and Christmas were separate. So I started doing that. But he is just so darn excited about Christmas this year, not sure why as we usually are very low key in celebrating, so I'm letting him lead this year.

@kristah2 I was hoping to hold off telling DS about this baby because we told him early on the last pregnancy which ended in MC. It was tough to explain to a 3 year a MC. My plan was to not say anything to him for quite a while (and more so he doesn't tell anyone at preschool) but MH told him already so it's been interesting. I haven't heard anything from his teachers but I expect when we do tell them, they will say they already knew. 🤣
  • @Lisa3379 - Oh, that is such a tough choice. I have a neighbor couple who are elderly, and when their grandkids went back to school, they don't see them anymore (parent's decision, not theirs). Their were tears in their eyes as they looked at my kids just missing their own so badly. This year just sucks for everyone, and there's never a one right choice.
I have a jumper in my living room that I can't wait to replace with the tree. Such an eyesore and DD2 rarely uses it anymore.
  • How far along are you? 7.5 weeks

How many kids do you already have? 1 Ages? 4 in dec

How are your other kids doing this week? He's doing pretty well.  The time change was a bit rough and he hates that it is dark so early now... he is definitely mine 😆

Rants/Raves: @laurad75 I'm in the same boat, the election is really stressing me out.  Being an exhausted/nauseas mess has left doomscrolling political twitter more than I should and I really need to stop lol

Concerns/Questions: Not that I can think of.

GTKY: We usually put up Christmas after Thanksgiving.  DS is a Christmas baby so he knows that Christmas decorations means his birthday is close lol. I'm thinking that we may actually put up decorations before Thanksgiving this year,  just to cheer everyone up. Especially since we aren't really doing Thanksgiving this year.

@Lisa3379 We kept DS out of preschool this year hoping to put him back in mid year if things calmed down,  but have decided just to keep him out all year.  Like you said he gets to continue seeing his grandparents and now that I'm pregnant I just don't want to risk it.  I'm extremely grateful that is something we can do.
  • @artsiefartsie That's another thing too: the pregnancy. The timing just seems less than ideal. Oh, another thing: we've been paying 10% of tuition since March to keep our spot, so that's another bit of pressure on us to figure things out. Sigh.

  • @laurad75, me too. I’m not even American but I work in US immigration and policy so it has a pretty big impact on my job.

  • @AKuzReve 😣 so sorry about your DS and his allergies, teething, and eczema! Mine is almost 13 months and we’ve had him allergy tested for a bunch of stuff so I feel you on the stalling in the growth department. I work myself into a ball like today and yesterday when he just wouldn’t eat. The only thing that’s worked for eczema for him has been Protopic Rx cream and Tubby Todd all over ointment.
  • @mc0303, did he end up having any? DS has 8 food allergies and is anaphylactic to 7 of them. It’s terrifying to be honest. His eczema is usually managed but we had a dairy allergy challenge in September and then the soy so his body/immune system has been under a lot of stress. We use la roche posay and it really helps. And then hydrocortisone for the really bad flares like now. Thankfully it’s just on his back right now so it’s not his face.

    *Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*

  • @AKuzReve yeah, he’s allergic to eggs, dairy, and peanut butter (anaphylactic to eggs and PB). It’s really scary. We always have his Auvi-Q and Benadryl on hand. I’m terrified of him eating anywhere but home. Your poor guy and his flare ups! My son’s eczema def got worse during the tests. I’ll have to try la roche posay- love the brand for sunscreen! Before we found the Protopic, we were using hydrocortisone like every day. It was awful. We’re thinking of going to the SoCal Food Allergy Institute for their food tolerance program 🤷🏻‍♀️ Came highly recommended from my OB whose son is going there for nut allergies
  • @AKuzReve and @mc0303 have you looked into oral immunotherapy treatments? DS has a peanut allergy. We found out when he was 10 months old and tried peanut butter for the first time. We ended up in the pediatric emergency unit. Very scary. We started oral immunotherapy for peanuts in 2019 and in January of 2020 he passed his final challenge and can now eat freely (including peanut  products). He eats the equivalent of 8 peanuts every day to keep up his immunity. It has been life changing for our family!

How far along are you? 9w 6d
How many kids do you already have? Ages? DS is 6 years old.
How are your other kids doing this week? DS has been tired after a busy Halloween weekend in a late night Saturday. He's always happy on his in school days for kindergarten.
Rants/Raves: still catching up at work but things will go back to normal soon!
    Concerns/Questions: NATM
GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? We go to cut down our tree the day after Thanksgiving. This year we have to go on Saturday due to DH's work, but I'll probably get the other decorations out on Friday. My birthday is at the end of December, and I usually try to have the tree down and decorations before the new year. So I like putting the tree up early.

How many kids do you already have? Ages?DD is 1.5

How are your other kids doing this week? She is doing well overall. She is still teething so occasionally cranky and so much drool.

    Rants: Time change is annoying
Raves: I had an u/s today! It was a relief to see the heartbeat.

    Concerns/Questions: NATM

GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? Usually the day/weekend after thanksgiving but since this year has been so shitty I might put my tree up this weekend.

@laurad75 I am also stressed/anxious for the election tomorrow. I really hope we have a clear idea of who the winner is tomorrow night, I don’t think that I can handle it being draw out for days.

How far along are you? 9+3
How many kids do you already have? Ages? DS - 2
How are your other kids doing this week? Halloween was so much fun! He’s been asking to wear his “pumpkin jacket” (pumpkin costume) nonstop since. Daylight savings was a bear, though. I’m tired.
Rants/Raves: It’s so hard to focus at work right now. Followup emails are killing me.
    Concerns/Questions: NATM
GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? First weekend in December. We usually do a big thing and host thanksgiving, though it’ll be just us this year. Might decorate a bit earlier this year!
  • How far along are you? 8+3
How many kids do you already have? Ages? 1 DD who is 2
How are your other kids doing this week? Not bad other than waking up early after the time change so hope her body adjusts soon
    Rants/Raves:
Rant: I had SPD with my last pregnancy and am so scared to have it again. It was so awful. So today I went on a 3 mile walk and can feel the slightest discomfort in the right side of my pelvis. Seems way too early. Makes me super sad that it might start affecting me sooner than I was expecting.
Rave: Had my 8 wk ultrasound on Friday and got to see the baby and its heartbeat. Was very exciting and a relief. I go back in in a couple weeks to get the blood test to find out what we're having!
Concerns/Questions:  Is anyone on their 3rd or more pregnancy who had SPD? Was the 2nd (or subsequent) pregnancy worse than the first? Trying to brace myself and prepare.
GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? I normally always wait until the day after Thanksgiving to dive in. May start earlier this year depending on how I'm feeling

  • How far along are you? 9 + 2

How are your other kids doing this week? Climbing up the walls as usual 🤪
Rants/Raves: ready to get past this first trimester. I need my energy back! Kids are doing whatever they want and I don’t even care.
    Concerns/Questions:
GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? Usually right after Thanksgiving
  • @AKuzReve - Go you! Someone's post on my Instagram feed said that 2020 has been bad enough, don't judge anyone who wants to put up decorations early this year. I'm totally here for it 👏 Also 22 miles on the bike! Beast!

@kaw726 - I've never had SPD, but I cringe just thinking about it. I hope that yours isn't starting this early again.

  • @mrs_massie aww your son's reaction must've been tough for you. It sounds like you handled it really well though and it's a great indicator of your parenting that he was comfortable and able to react honestly.
@kristah2 we're going to wait till the end of 1st tri- right around the end of December- to tell our kids. I'd wait longer if I could (ideally after anatomy scan) but I think it's going to be hard enough to hide from DS1 (7) that long. He is very sensitive and emotional and with my loss history I'm too nervous to tell him any earlier. He's had major baby fever for the past year so he'll be very excited.
@Lisa3379 ds2 (3.5) is back at daycare part time. I don't feel great about it but we really have no choice. We have no family around that helps and already have made the decision we are not traveling or getting together with anyone for the holidays. The days he was home with us in the spring he was just in front of the TV for hours bc MH and I were both working and ds1 was doing k on the computer. It's really a tough decision, especially now.
@laurad75 @artsiefartsie also nervous about the election. It's scary to see so many businesses boarding up bc the anxiety over rioting.
@AKuzReve I hope DS is feeling better soon!
@DoubleUp8 @mrs_massie @marebear15 December birthdays unite! Mine is the 9th

How many kids do you already have? Ages? 2 DS - 7 and 3.5
How are your other kids doing this week? They loooved Halloween- I had a bunch of different activities for them and then we trick or treated in the neighborhood for about an hour. One of the activities was to make Thanksgiving decorations for the grandparents we usually spend the holiday with, so I need to get to the post office to mail them since we won't be with them this year.
Rants/Raves: they're both home from daycare and school today bc of election day. I'm trying to work upstairs and they've been downstairs howling like wolves for at least 10 minutes 😂 I'll take it over them fighting!
    Concerns/Questions:
GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? Usually early - mid December bc DH doesnt like having a live tree in the house more than 3 weeks
  • How far along are you? 7 and some change
How many kids do you already have? Ages?  2; aged 10 (DS), 4 (DD)
How are your other kids doing this week? Good! Good spirits as grandma is visiting. And Halloween.
Rants/Raves: kids are hard. But this week has been good.
Concerns/Questions: I’m worried about rearranging my house for kid bedrooms :/
GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? When my husband does it lol. I usually am the one that does the Christmas tree, but it’s only after I get him to finally pull the tree out. Thanksgiving weekend is my deadline. Anything else is 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • @angelz429 I’m worried about my house situation too. We’re hoping to get our house on the market in Jan or feb and have it move quick to get into a new house with 4 bedrooms by May. It’s going to be tight.

How many kids do you already have? Ages? 3 little boys - oldest will be 9 next month, 5 & 3
How are your other kids doing this week? Pretty good, their school was closed Monday & Tuesday so they only have a three day week this week. My little one goes to MDO twice a week and has that today, so I get 5 hours to myself which is nice after a long four day weekend.

GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? Christmas! Usually the day after thanksgiving, but it may be earlier this year, because...well, Covid. Lol.

  • @mrsrundmc fingers crossed for a job offer for you!
  • @mrsrundmc good luck!! 🤞

@angelz429 we moved our boys into one bedroom this summer- it went better than we thought (7 + 3.5). We made a big deal about it and DS1 got to pick out a lot of things for it, which made him feel better about sharing his room. Are you thinking about moving yours in together while the baby is small or moving the baby in with one of them once you find out the sex?
  • @sugarcoateddonut solidarity. MIL is in Ontario and also would have to isolate for 14 days. She saw my youngest when she was 2 months old and hasn’t been down since as her Easter trip was cancelled.
  • How far along are you? 6 weeks today

How many kids do you already have? Ages? DD is 5 & DS is 2.5

How are your other kids doing this week? Doing fine, just being their normal, crazy selves!

Rants/Raves: My first appointment is on Monday and I’m so ready!

    Concerns/Questions:

GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? Usually right after Thanksgiving, sometimes the weekend before if Thanksgiving falls really late or we’re going to be traveling. I’m not one of the people that decorates when Halloween is over... I have to have thanksgiving before moving on to Christmas 🎄

  • @hollyk224 Our Thanksgiving is in October, but I think if we celebrated in late November the USA, I would also wait and decorate then as well! :)

It has already snowed a little bit here (it has melted at least lol), so I am ready to get into the Christmas spirit lol!

How many kids do you already have? Ages? 1 DD age 3
How are your other kids doing this week? Extremely clingy. But loving it
Rants/Raves: not really a rant just annoying- whatever kindergarten wheel tool that my midwife uses to track how far a long I am is behind by 2 days. Even though we agree on my due date (June 2) her tool is behind by 2 days. I correct her eVery time. Just annoying lol
    Concerns/Questions:
GTKY: When do you start decorating for Christmas, the holidays, Hanukkah, etc.? Christmas here. Usually dec 1, but this year will probably decorate before thanksgiving. We could all use some exTra joy around here. This is a new house for us (moved from NYC due to the pandemic back in July) so I’m excited to do outdoor decorations this year as we’ve lived in the city in apartments for the last decade.

  • @MelissaMay82 we are similar with the holidays. Working in healthcare is a good excuse to not see people, but because I work in healthcare I trust other people much less.
  • @MelissaMay82 @klj0228 we are also not seeing family for the holidays. We have big families so trying to figure out how to still make it special for my kids when they're going to be upset about not seeing their cousins.
