I have an u/s tomorrow. I’m excited but nervous. Hopefully we will see a baby with a heartbeat. And then Thursday I have a zoom intake appointment with one of the PAs.
November 10 is my first appointment and I am both excited and extremely nervous. I’m not super happy about going alone but it is what it is. It can’t come fast enough yet I’m also gonna be so stressed until the moment I see that ultrasound.
My first US is on 11/17. I decided that I want MH (and LO) to come because I’m so anxious. I almost booked a private ultrasound for next week and then got a grip 😬
My first ultrasound is this Friday 11/6. I’ve had such mild symptoms I swear I don’t even feel pregnant but I had very mild symptoms with my son too. I just want to see the heartbeat and see there’s actually a baby in there. Then it will start feeling real.
November 16 is my 12 week appointment. We are going to do the genetic testing. It will help me feel better. Also, as a bonus, we will find out the sex of the baby! Hoping to get the result in an envelop and set up something so DS can do the reveal and feel involved in the process.

I have my 8 week appointment tomorrow morning. It was supposed to be telehealth but they need me to sign some paperwork. Nervous to step on the scale. I gained a ton of weight after my traumatic MCs and I'm the heaviest I've ever been. Ugh
I have my first u/s in 8 days. Nov 9th. It can't come fast enough. Im excited to go but crazy nervous and anxious. Ultrasounds for me have never gone well in the past as I always hear bad news at them so im a ball of nerves. I just want to hear a HB and actually see a baby in there so it will finally feel more real and I can feel some relief.
@ruemcclanahan GL with your 8 week appt tommrow. Hope all goes well.
@MelissaMay82 GL with your u/s Tomorrow. FX everything is good. I understand being excited and nervous.
I have an apt with my PCP on Friday in person. I’m nervous because I’ll only be 10+2. I imagine she will try to find a HB with the Doppler but the likelihood of finding it will be slim and that just makes me nervous.
Then I have to wait until I’m 12 weeks for an ultrasound which is going to seem forever if she can’t find something on Friday.
I have tv us tomorrow. As soon as I am done with that I have my first OB visit and a pap smear. I’m excited because my H is supposed to go with me. He didn’t get to attend any appointments with our first due to work so I’m excited for him to see the baby and hear the heartbeat.
Wow it sounds like a lot of us are heading to the doctor tomorrow! I have my 8 week US appointment tomorrow since we found out I was a tad off on my calculations when I showed up only 5 weeks 6 days pregnant at my last one haha. So I’m really anxious to see how things have progressed and that the heartbeat is still going strong!
Poll Q for the group - I live in Illinois and our COVID restrictions are ramping up again (rightly so!) As a result, my hubby can’t come to the appointments for the foreseeable future. So I planned to ask my doctor tomorrow if it would be okay to take a short video of the ultrasound and heartbeat as she’s pointing out all the good stuff so I can show him later. I want him to feel involved, and there’s only so much I can reiterate from the grainy photo of an ultrasound. Anyone else doing appointments solo? Is it crazy to sneak a video?!
@ashleyjillian15 I went to my appointment solo as well and my Dr told me I couldn't record, but could FaceTime. I gave MH a heads up when I was called back to the room so he'd be ready.
Good luck to everyone with appointments tomorrow! I'm going in too and hoping to have a better us than last week's (too early)
My doctors office is letting my husband go to the first visit (which is this Friday and I’ll get a TV ultrasound) but then that’s it until the anatomy scan. It’s such a bummer. He went to every appointment with me when I was pregnant with our son.
We are on the downswing side of Covid right now In my area so for now MH is allowed to attend ultrasounds only. Not regular appointments though.
I’m getting my NIPT drawn this Thursday! I’m crazy nervous about the wait to get results. Like the TWW on steroids lol. For those that have done Natera before, do you remember how long it took to get results back?
GL to everyone with appointments today. I'm looking forward to seeing lots of good updates.
My next appointment is 11/9 (lots of us going next Monday). I'm so anxious for it to get here. All my symptoms are strong right now and certainly feel pregnant but I need to see a strong hb.
*TW* last year I had a loss and the first sign of problems was a very low hb at my 7w appointment. I just can't re-live that. H can't come with me so if something goes wrong I'll be alone. I'm really nervous but feel so strongly that this baby is healthy.

@ashleyjillian15 I know here they aren’t allowing video but they are allowing FaceTime. I would talk to your tech, I’m sure there’s something they can work out. You won’t be the only one.
Had my appointment this morning- everything looked good! Sac and baby were measuring right on and it looks like the heart just started beating. My Dr didn't measure since it is so early (5w6d) but I'll be going in again next week so expect they'll measure it then. I went by myself but was able to video chat DH so he could see too.
@ashleyjillian15 my clinic also only allows him in for the first appointment and they do not allow recording. I’m hoping that as more time passes he will be able to come down the road but we also have tightening COVID restrictions where I live so I’m not super hopeful on that one.
Good luck to everyone on your appointments! Can’t wait to see more ultrasound pics!
First appointment is Nov 12th. Trying to not think too much about it, though I'm sure I'll be super nervous as it gets closer
@ashleyjillian15 My husband also can't come with me. As luck would have it, this is my second pandemic pregnancy (*TW loss* I was pregnant earlier this spring/summer), my husband couldn't come for the appointments last time either. From what I remember a lot of women were using Facetime (or a similar app) to call their husbands during the ultrasound, so ask your doctor about that.
@laurad75 I feel you. Could he maybe drive you and wait in the car? That way at least he's there if something goes wrong *TW loss*
My second pregnancy was towards the beginning of the pandemic (April-July), and it was definitely hard going alone since we had lost my first pregnancy last December (yes, this means I was alone at my 16-week appointment when I realized we'd lost the second pregnancy, too). I did find it helpful to be very direct with the nurses/techs at the outset, telling them that I'd recently had a loss and was very anxious/scared. After my first appointment (when the nurse accidentally made me break down) I also asked the office to add a post-it or some note up front in my chart saying that I've had pregnancy loss so that they know to be a bit more sensitive
Had a follow up ultrasound today and the twins look great. Ill post pictures in the US thread. I "graduated" from my RE today and will start seeing my OB this week. OB appointment is Thursday 11/5. Im sure while Im there Ill end up getting on the books with the MFM as well for NIPTs/NT scans. That should be all for this month though, I cant imagine they would need to do much more so soon.

@laurad75 I think @akoros offers some great advice. Having YH close by and in the car on the way there might help you too. I always am very verbal about my anxiety and being pgal with the drs and nurses as soon as they walk into the room, which helps my anxiety bc it takes away the anxiety I have about whether or not they might make an insensitive comment. So many layers of anxiety!
Thanks ladies for all your feedback! I was nervous but asked my doctor if she wouldn’t mind me taking a teeny tiny video and she was like “sure no problem, everyone is doing that!” So I got to take a couple clips and send them to my H today, it made it so much more real seeing the heartbeat! Everything is looking good so far, 166 heart beat but My EDD got pushed another three days out because of size, but she said nothing to be concerned about. My first OB appt will be Nov. 30th and am going to do the Panorama screening, but had a very confusing call with their estimated billing dept. today. Apparently the “cash price” is $249, but w/ insurance I could end up paying somewhere between $300-$500? My OB had said the cost could really be about $1,200 if it’s not covered! So needless to say... won’t be doing any Black Friday shopping until that bill comes through haha.
Hoping to see lots more positive appointment results from everyone!
Had my first appointment today, it went well, almost everything is the same as it was with my son 5 years ago except for some covid information. Got some zofran for my puking so hopefully that helps at work! All in all I feel very good and hopeful about this pregnancy. I have another ultrasound scheduled for 12 weeks and then another appointment with the high risk OB but it might be the last one with them!
@ashleyjillian15 yeah they’re billing is so confusing. I chose to NOT go through insurance and pay the cash price of $249 (you select on the form). It’s up to you whether you want it credited towards your deductible on your insurance.
First appointment is November 3 for u/s and with NP. Nervous as I hope to hear the hb and see the little gummy bear. Fortunately, MH is allowed to come with me. Although, I'm not sure if he is allowed for any others. Will need to double check.
@mc0303 I think I’m going to follow in your footsteps and do the same! Thank you for the info, I was skeptical that the cash price could be cheaper than the insurance, but it sounds like so much less of a hassle.
@ruemcclanahan glad everything went well and hope the zofran makes you feel better!
@_orchid_@akoros Thank you for the suggestion and it is a good idea. I would need to make arrangements for DS to be picked up from school at 11:30 in case we aren't home on time so I need to think about it.

I think I’m gonna skip the American NIPT this time and just do the dutch one as it’s a significant cost difference and we want to be on team green this time.
@AKuzReve what does that mean? American NIPT vs Dutch one?
All of my NIPT have been to test for chromosomal concerns, sex is a bonus detail but not the reason, and thus has always been covered 100% by insurance. Ive never had a out of pocket cost associated.

@ashleyjillian15 Sometimes the companies that do NIPT testing also have "Compassionate Care Discounts based on household size and income level. Natera's: https://www.natera.com/womens-health/pricing-billing It can give you a discount on the cash price if you qualify. I also believe the household size includes the baby you are pregnant with. Worth investigating!
