Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A cantaloupe
    Upcoming appointments: OB tomorrow
How are you feeling?: Overall good.  Starting to notice some calf cramping at night so trying to drink more water during the day to see if it goes away.
    Rants/Raves: Nope.
    Questions: None.
GTKY: (suggested by lavenderclouds!) Do you have any creative hobbies or have you in the past? Photography/writing/playing an instrument/etc? I do almost any crafty thing.  Quilting, needlepoint, crochet, knitting.  In the fall/winter (not this year because of COVID :( ) I participate in local craft fairs/holiday markets selling knit stuff.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a coconut. I have a what in there? I've reach the stage of alarming food sizes.
Upcoming appointments: This Thurs check in and glucose test
How are you feeling?:  The poor sleep has begun. And, in fact, I vomited for the first time in pregnancy last week due to waking up in the middle of the night with such terrible acid reflux...barely made it to the bathroom in time. Didn't expect to make it through the 1st tri w/o vomiting just to have it hit me bc of acid reflux in the 3rd. Started taking more Tums, but worried about exceeding the 24 hour limit, so am going to ask my Dr. for alternatives. Also starting to sleep more upright--again. Had to sleep upright in 1st tri bc of pregnancy rhinitis. But if not acid reflux, baby kicks and very vivid dreams getting my heart rate up are waking me. Not sure I'll have good sleep again, ever.
Rants/Raves: I think I ranted enough about my newfound symptoms above. A rave is Amazon Prime days--stock up, ladies! Of course it's hard to decide what to get for baby right now before anyone has a chance to look at our registry. Maybe some big-ticket items, maybe only things for us.
GTKY: Oh yes, the creative outlet question. For me, I'm part of a choir. Singing and having the community of a chorus has always been important to me. I'm not so talented in the other art forms, though I used to be more into photography. Now everything is just a phone photo...

@hp242 That's amazing that you're so crafty. Sad that you can't participate in the fair this year. Are you on Etsy?
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 1/28/24 weeks 5 days

    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: team green
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: eggplant
Upcoming appointments: glucose screening on 11/2
How are you feeling?: eh. Lots of aches and pains
Rants/Raves: Work is stressing me out, I can't even describe everything going on. I have a countdown on my phone until my PTO starts.
Questions: At my appointment on Thursday, doctor mentioned another ultrasound at my 32 week appointment. I didn't have that last time. Anyone else have a 3rd trimester ultrasound? When do they typically discuss actually scheduling your c-section. My doctor keeps mentioning that we will be doing a c-section this time, but we haven't officially scheduled it. I'm a planner and just want to know when it will be.
GTKY: (suggested by lavenderclouds!) Do you have any creative hobbies or have you in the past? Photography/writing/playing an instrument/etc?
I used to play the piano. I haven't played in years though. I don't have much time for creative hobbies.

    as tall as a mockingbird

    Upcoming appointments:
    10/20 & 3D US this Saturday!!!
Also going for glucose test this week..🤞🏼

How are you feeling?: tiredddd, over this semester

Rants/Raves: I think this weekend we should be done w the nursery and my mom comes to town!

Questions: I’ve seen things on babycenter about rhogram shots? Will I need this? Are you all getting flu shots as well? What should I/we expect at 28 week appointment?

GTKY: (suggested by lavenderclouds!) Do you have any creative hobbies or have you in the past? Photography/writing/playing an instrument/etc?

i used to play piano. I also like to knit sometimes and trying to learn to crochet! I was super crafty when DH was deployed always making the best/cute care packages- so glad deployments are behind us 😅🙏🏼
  • 24+3 💚 Stm+

    Appointment next week!

feeling a little more tired, a little more sore. I need to start doing some stretching or yoga because my hamstrings are getting tight. I should also take walks at lunch because it's good for me and my dog needs to lose 2 lbs 😂

rave: met a few coworkers in the park to say hi last night and it felt really good to see and talk to people
rant: one coworker touched my belly before I could block her 🤬 also my finance class is hard 😭

No questions but I think I have some answers I'll post below!

gtky: as a serial hobbiest I love this question!!!! Hobbies on hold: piano (we should all start a piano bar 😉), sewing, dog agility, coaching volleyball and track, playing sand volleyball, trail running, curling. Current hobbies: chickens, getting an MBA. Upcoming hobby: I just ordered a small loom to weave scarfs and towels and things!!!

@hp242 if you are getting cramps make sure you are not only drinking water but also an electrolyte drink (Gatorade or whatever brand/mix). I would get wicked foot cramps curling and no amount of water was helping, swapping some water for an electrolyte drink was a game changer!!! Bonus points if your beverage is magnesium based because it will help keep you regular 💩

@amm126 the extra ultrasound isn't typically standard but could be related to the need of a c-section

@briemo you will only need a rhogam shot of you have a negative blood type (technically if you're partner is also negative you shouldn't need one, but I don't know if they rely on that). If the baby has a positive blood type  and your blood mixes you could develop antibodies to positive blood and have future pregnancy complications. The rhogam shot prevents this from happening and is very effective. So, if you need it, you will get a shot sometime in the third trimester and again at birth. I think they will also test your blood at some point after delivery to check for those antibodies.
  • Sorry I listed all my hobbies and not just the creative ones!!! I'll follow directions better next time ❤️
  • @lavenderclouds yes I am on Etsy, but I've never really spend the time to have a very big following.  Planning on trying to get everything I have listed, its just time consuming and I always find other things to do when I could be making listings.  I really need to though, the babys room has been my yarn/craft room for 4+ years, need to make space!   Also, laughing hysterically at 'alarming food sizes' hahaha.  I bought myself a massive U shaped pillow through prime days to hopefully help with the sleeping, I'm also starting to wake up more.
@amm126 Sorry about the work stress :(
@briemo I'm getting a flu shot at the same time as the whooping cough shot
@jumpy57 good idea on the electrolytes, I have blue BioSteel, just have to get back to drinking it.  Weaving is a great hobby, my mom learned a few years ago and I borrowed her small loom when she got a floor loom.  Great activity to not have to stand for (as long as you have a good height table).

  • @whitealbum29 your dress and cake look lovely!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Bunch of kale

Upcoming appointments: Glucose test this week, midwife Oct 27

How are you feeling?: Feeling really good. My achey pelvis and round ligament pain are getting worse by the week. I’ve ordered a support belt. Hopeful for some relief.

Rants/Raves: My rave is that I’m loving how the leaves in my area have totally exploded with colour this week. So stunning! It makes our evening walks even more beautiful. My rant is how sad I’m starting to feel that the days are getting shorter and shorter.

    Questions: None

GTKY: (suggested by lavenderclouds!) Do you have any creative hobbies or have you in the past? Photography/writing/playing an instrument/etc? I don’t think these are considered creative hobbies but I love vegetable gardening and planning trips and traveling (pre-Covid).

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Lettuce

Upcoming appointments: Growth scan next Wednesday

How are you feeling?: Big. OK, not that big. But at the end of the day I feel bigger. Not as easy to get up the stairs, getting up from sitting on the floor (which you do a lot of when you have a toddler). Other than that, no real complaints.

Rants/Raves: House stuff is coming along! Closet doors will all be installed by tomorrow and then painting should be done by early next week. Then I feel like I can start nesting.

    Questions: None

GTKY: (suggested by lavenderclouds!) Do you have any creative hobbies or have you in the past? I took piano lessons as a kid, and I also had an online magazine for a few years when I was a teen.

@lavendarclouds I also woke up and vomited from acid reflux. I made it to the sink. This was also me last pregnancy during the third trimester. And you will sleep again! Newborns sleep a lot, so there's opportunity for naps. We sleep trained our daughter at 6 months and she's been sleeping like a champ ever since (minus when she had colds or was teething). Hopefully we have the same luck this time.
@amm126 Sorry to hear about the work stress. That sucks.
@briemo I got my flu shot a couple of weeks ago.
@jumpy57 NO! That is completely unacceptable. No touchy the belly!
    @whitealbum29 Congratulations!!!

  • @amm126 I have a 32 week ultrasound. I was thinking that I haven't asked many questions yet at my doctor's appointments about labor/delivery so I might focus on that next week and was going to ask what their protocol is for inducing if you go past your due date...maybe your doctor has a plan for a c-section date and just hasn't mentioned but I'm sure they would tell you at this point!
@briemo I got my flu shot last month and as jumpy57 mentioned, you get the rhogam shot if you have a negative blood type. I'm getting one next week I think.
@jumpy57 grr the belly touching! I've always heard about people randomly touching pregnant women's bellies and never believed it was a widespread thing because it's so absurd. The only person who's touched mine was my mom and she asked first. I suppose since I've been mostly at home for my pregnancy I could be avoiding a lot of that! Haha no I love that you put all your hobbies and I love when people have lots of them! I should have made it a broader question so I would have a better answer!  <3

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Eggplant
Upcoming appointments: Check-up/glucose test 11/4, u/s for growth check 11/2
How are you feeling?: Still good. I also have started getting feet/calf cramps at night and I notice it's on days where I'm working out longer so I probably just need to be better about replacing that water loss.
Rants/Raves: We did a trip to Buy Buy Baby since they were going out of business and got several big things (our Dock-a-tot and stroller) and Prime had our baby carrier marked way down. We also got a few other smaller things. I feel productive scoring so many things on sale!
Questions: Has anyone gone the doula route but also not been set on med-free? I think it would be nice to have the support for me/my husband but I'm also not diehard on going med-free. I have no idea how I'm going to handle the pain so I don't want to set myself up to feel disappointed. I don't know if that's common or not? I set up a few initial consults with a few to see if it sounds like we would be a good fit for each other.

@whitealbum29 congrats on your wedding! <3
  • @whitealbum29 with my first pregnancy I had so many random people strike up conversations with me because I was pregnant. A few coworkers that I otherwise had not talked to in the two years I worked there, and lots of random dad's when I was coaching high school track 🤷🏻‍♀️ people are really weird
  • @msjaay with my first I was really set on going med free... My induction decided otherwise and by the time I decided to get an epidural I had zero regrets. I think it's fine to prepare like you are going med free even if you think you might change your mind

How are you feeling?: pretty good, I have been having a ton of trouble sleeping so per my ob I’m trying unisom and Benadryl (separately). So far neither is amazing but Benadryl at least helps a little bit.
Rants/Raves: I wish I wasn’t gaining so much weight. I’m right on track with my other pregnancies so it seems to just be why my body does but it sucks. I don’t look forward to having to lose it all again after.
    Questions:
GTKY: (suggested by lavenderclouds!) Do you have any creative hobbies or have you in the past? Photography/writing/playing an instrument/etc? I have a silhouette cameo and I love to craft! I make signs and shirts mostly. I haven’t done anything since covid started since we turned my draft desk into my husbands work desk but hopefully I will have a chance to do a few things soon!

    Congratulations @whitealbum29!
  • @whitealbum29 congrats! You look gorgeous. And it looks like the weather worked out!
@amm126  lol the countdown on your phone. I've been thinking about doing this too. I'm stopping work after the first week of Dec. And re ultrasounds: I don't have anymore scheduled for the rest of pregnancy at the moment. I think bc now I'm low risk and have no reason to.
@briemo will be getting the flu shot at my appt today. Highly recommend. You can pass the antibodies to your baby who will be protected upon birth--in flu season.
@hp242 I can attest the u-shaped pillow really helps! For me, I can't imagine I'd be able to side-sleep--and now upright sleep--without it.
@oaktree6 Let us know how the support belt goes. I've been wondering if/when I might need that.
@supersara2 awe, thank you for the kind and inspiring words that I may one day sleep again!  :)
@msjaay I will look into doulas next month, but only if my hospital looks like they'll allow more than just my husband in the delivery room. Of course, Jan is ages away in healthcare/covid policy terms and anything can change. I'm trying to have an unmedicated birth, but also FTM, so leaving open the option of meds if/when I think I need them.
  • Work super crushed me this week so I'm so late I'm basically in next weeks post lol

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: cauliflower
Upcoming appointments: just some labs in the next three weeks
How are you feeling?: Still good! Trying to utilize this energy I still have for working out because I'm feeling very paranoid about weight gain. I am always hungry. I'm feeling a lot like Pam having her second kid on the Office while Angela stays super tiny ... there's another pregnant girl on kid #2 who is due in Feb but not showing so I just look humongous next to her.
Rants/Raves: Not really a rant or rave, but make sure you're staying in! This COVID surge is no joke and if you've been feeling complacent (like me - I definitely went to Target just to sniff candles last week) it's the time to lock it back up.
Questions: no, I don't think anyone will still be on this board to answer them  :D
GTKY: (suggested by lavenderclouds!) Do you have any creative hobbies or have you in the past? Photography/writing/playing an instrument/etc? Knitting! I'm making some matching teddy bears right now for my friend's son and my future daughter and this pattern is kicking my butt.

@whitealbum29 CONGRATULATIONS! It looks beautiful and perfect. And your cake sounds SO GOOD.
@lavenderclouds sorry to hear about the puking! what do you use for sleeping upright? I'm a back sleeper and I'm so uncomfortable on my side, even with my leg slung up on a big pillow.
@oaktree6 so jealous you get changing leaves :) must be gorgeous!

  • Thanks for the congrats all!  <3

@msjaay I know in my area in the Northeast there are a some doulas who are very vocally welcoming of all different birth experiences/plans and don't push the idea of going med-free. The doula who wrote one of the pregnancy books I got (called Nurture) is the same way. I'm sure it's worth talking to the doulas you're meeting about it and I would imagine (and hope) they'll say they're just there to advocate for you and support you regardless of what you want! I'm taking the same approach as you I think re: meds...not totally set on being med free just because I've never experienced labor before and am worried that if I get it in my head that meds are something to be avoided, I'll feel bad if it doesn't go that route.
@hanfam2021 Totally agree re: your rant! Our state got through the first couple of waves with relatively low numbers compared to other places but I'm proceeding as though it could blow up here any time (although a Target candle-sniffing excursion sounds amazing right now and I'm glad you got to do it before locking down again!). I'm super, super lucky that I can work from home and H works outside the house but in a very cautious workplace and I know not everyone is in that situation...but we're already preparing to be super hunkered down going into winter, just going to work, doctors appts and the grocery store - although H is thinking of continuing CrossFit since it's an open-air pace and everyone's spread out but we'll reassess if things get worse here.
