Rants/Raves: Found out today no visitors are allowed to appointments with me until further notice because of covid, so that's a bummer :(

    Questions:

GTKY: How did you meet your SO? Initially met in 3rd grade catechism, Met again when he switched to my high school in 11th grade.

  • @mkc3888 omg i love that you and YH have known each other for so long!  did you start dating in high school too?

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 8w1d
    FTM/STM/STM+:  FTM
Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Finding out for sure.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a grape!
Upcoming appointments: next up is on 10/29.  just a visit.  they will listen for heartbeat and we will do an US if needed.  i'm okay with that :)  and i have appointments lined up for my nuchal and a few others which is exciting!
Rants/Raves: just feeling super blah.  i need to eat every few hours or i start feeling foggy and nauseous.  otherwise, work is calm and i have been able to keep a very low profile relaxing (and lots of napping).
Questions: when does everyone intend to start announcing?  we've told our parents and siblings, and i've told a coworker at the restaurant so someone can keep an eye on me, but i'm having this internal struggle of if we will start telling friends after 12wks or waiting til 20wks.  PGAL brain wants me to wait, but i'm also so excited to share!  also wondering if we should have an announcement ideas thread and sticky it? my old BMB did that and i thought it was a great resource.
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? we started working together 11 years ago next month.  started dating two months later.
  • @asf0613 yep we started dating our senior year. His mom has our prom pic hanging in their hall

I’ve shared the news with 3 of my closest friends. I’m waiting to share with family until my first appointment (tomorrow). I’ll tell my daughter at that point and then the rest of family. I won’t tell anyone at work unless I have to (vomiting) or until 12 weeks minimum. I feel like I don’t even know how to do this. I guess an email to my boss, HR? Last time we had daily meetings and I just announced it in a meeting with all my coworkers. Only one knew at the time. This time I’m not really close to any of my coworkers so I probably won’t say anything until after I tell my boss

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an evil blueberry
    Upcoming appointments: 10/20
How are you feeling?: garbage. I’m on Zofran, unisom and B6 3x a day and still can barely eat and throwing up multiple times a day. I’ve already lost over 5lbs. Haven’t pooped in a week. This pregnancy has me so much sicker than my first. I described the first as waking up hungover every day. This one is like waking up with the stomach flu every day. By 3pm I need to be in bed each day. Thank goodness H is working from home and can log on to finish his day after bedtime.
Rants/Raves: We have no family around but MIL is hopefully flying out for a week to help watch the toddler so I can rest more.
Questions: Anyone else super miserable and hate being pregnant?
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? Match.com. The algorithm works!
  • @mkc3888 I’d meet with your boss by phone/zoom to tell them at 12 weeks. You can decide how you feel at that point about telling others. We are telling people after the 8 week u/s. Only people we are close with, like neighbors, not social media. If anything bad happened I’d want their support.
  • @mkc3888 my company is very small (i'm one of 4 employees).  last time, i told them at 8wks because i was worried it would involve EXTENSIVE planning to cover my role.  this time around, and since i dont see them much, i might wait well beyond 12wks (closer to 20wks) which puts me at the end of the calendar year.  thinking about things a lot differently this time around.  however, i would need to tell them before i do anything on social media, since not only do they follow me, their families do as well since ive been working for them for so long.
  • @asf0613 I definitely have to tell work before social media because I do have a few people from work on my Facebook. I also have to consider telling my clients and when is the right time to tell them based on their circumstance. Last time I was in more of a case/crisis management type role. Now there isn’t really anyone who can replace me per say. I don’t know if my work would hire another social worker to cover me or not, honestly we don’t have the space. However in the past they have talked about moving us to another building, so who knows. I do have to give clients a list of other therapists in the area that they can switch to or see in my absence. It’s totally up to them. I probably need to type a document with resources. I know a few clients will be nervous about abandonment so it’ll be something to work on. All that to say I’ll probably tell work around 12 weeks so I can start seeking guidance on telling clients without fear of work finding out before I’m ready.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Wild strawberry
Upcoming appointments: first one is 10/19 televisit to find out next steps
How are you feeling?: feeling good. Need to eat something small more often otherwise start to feel sick.
Rants/Raves: Last week I convinced the doctors to order a blood test to at least confirm I was actually pregnant before I told work so could put some precautions in place. The test came back and was way higher than my first pregnancy which had me playing the what if game. Also my close friend shared she is also pregant and we are a week and a half apart which is exciting, but our symptoms are polar opposite so we both in our feels.
    Questions: NATM
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? Through the close friend I mentioned above. They went to high school together and she introduced us.
  • @mkc3888 the no visitors thing is weighing heavily on me too, especially as first time parents after IF, my sweet husband has been waiting for this day for so long and instead he had to wait in the car :'( it's so unfair.
@asf0613 glad work has been quieter so you can take it easy on your extra blah days. I love the idea of an announcements thread! We're a little different because we did IVF so everyone knew we were doing our transfer. But we've only told our parents, my brother, my BFF, and MH has told the nurse (who's also a close friend) at work because I've been home sick with a cold AND on bedrest so she's been giving him some tips while also advising him on when he's allowed to return to the office following my negative covid test. If I had it my way we wouldn't tell anyone but he wants to shout it from the rooftops lol.
@alexandraseattle oh no, so sorry to hear you're so sick! Hopefully your MIL can help for a bit.
@Liz101015 That's so cool that you and your friend will be pregnancy buddies.

Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days:  May 27th-ish / Should be 7w6d but measuring ahead at 8w3d

    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Team definitely finding out

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Swedish berry gummy

Upcoming appointments: Just had our first U/S yesterday, follow up with RE today so we can figure out next steps

How are you feeling?: Great! A lot less anxious now that we've heard the heartbeat and the bleeding has stopped. Breast soreness came back after disappearing for a week, and had my first bout of nausea last night but it could've been from dinner. Otherwise thankful to still have a decent amount of energy and no MS yet.

Rants/Raves: Rant: I'm over this pandemic. Rave: We heard a heartbeat!!! Still on a high from that ultrasound.

Questions: I can never think of any when I'm actually filling this out lol.

GTKY: How did you meet your SO? We've been volunteering at the same non-profit org for the last 10+ years but he was married. My mom spent the better part of the first 7ish years bugging me that I needed to find someone like [MH] and as much as it pains me to admit it, turns out she was right.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Denise's pygmy sea horse
    Upcoming appointments:
How are you feeling?: OK I guess, mini nausea, but that's probably an indication I need to eat. I've felt my scar more often which makes me wonder how it's holding up.
Rants/Raves: So, I still haven't got the verifying blood test or gone to the doctor. I'm starting to be afraid I'm that person everyone thinks is crazy because they're avoiding doctors. I felt like my OB/GYN for my DS had me come in too often and now I feel like I'm trying to take too much control. I went to a workshop when I was about 6 weeks and they said I can get away with 4-7 visits in a pregnancy. And to have the first by at least 11 or 12 weeks. Covid really is allowing me to procrastinate this. Every outing seems like a big deal and even though my DS (12m) is my sidekick I can't take him anywhere, so I hesitate because after two or three hours he starts getting super fussy and his dad has to work online.
Rave: currently obsessed with researching knit newborn soakers. So cute!
    Questions:
GTKY: How did you meet your SO? I met my SO at work. I was taking over his classes so he could teach a different subject. He really helped me to get through the first couple of months. His mom though was the one trying to push us together. He's very reserved and it took a long time to get close. We were engaged 3 & 1/2 years after, never boyfriend/girlfriend, but definitely exclusive.
