R/R: I hope everyone had a nice weekend! We cancelled our pumpkin patch trip yesterday, DH’s stomach is bothering him and we didn’t know what the bathroom situation would be. So instead we got some things handled that we have been meaning to (returns, etc) and had a nice visit with my in-laws. We were there for so long though so I didn’t get the laundry finished when we got home and now I’m feeling flustered today. Loving the work from home life so I can get it finished today!

@bows22 Jealous of the work from home life, my laundry is perpetually unfinished. It sounds like you had a productive weekend, I hope that makes for a pleasant and unflustered week!

    Month/Cycle: 10/3 AL

    CD: 8

    WAYDTGKU: BBT and OPKs

R/R: I had a lovely weekend visiting with family, so I’m keeping that chill energy going into the week. I saw everyone except my KU brother and SIL, and I think the rest of the family got the hint that I’m not ready to talk about it because no one brought it up.

    CS/Q: None
  • @bows22 sorry you had to cancel your pumpkin patch plans, but it sounds like you still had a nice weekend! Good luck getting all your laundry done today.

@fitzfizz I’m glad that the conversation didn’t steer towards your brother and SIL this weekend. Hopefully your good chill energy does continue throughout the week!

    Month/Cycle: 11/10

    CD: 12

    WAYDTGKU: clomid, ovidrel, IUI

R/R: We had the best weekend!! We visited with family on Saturday basically all day, and spent the weekend enjoying the beautiful weather outside. I unfortunately immediately lost my weekend good mood at my RE monitoring appointment this morning, when they told me that I have literally no good follicles growing at the moment. Keeping my FX for growth and heading back on Thursday. I was so hoping that the clomid would shorten my cycles but the RE said it could look more like a normal length cycle this month. Ugh. If that’s the case I’ll have to go back quite a few more times before we can schedule the IUI.

    CS/Q:

  • @bows22 If I don't finish my laundry it will bother me until it gets done. Even if that means staying up a little later just to have that peace of mind.
@fitzfizz that sounds like at the perfect tone to head into the week. And kudos to your family for getting the hint about and not brining topics up.

    Month/Cycle: 3/3

    CD: 5

    WAYDTGKU: PNV, HIO, OPK

R/R: Nothing too much here - just getting ready to head into a busy work with with inventory on the horizon next Monday, so that will be a lot of fun prep work this week. But this overcast weather makes me just want to stay home and read on the couch.

CS/Q: What is the best way to check CM? I've read a few options from Dr. Google, but what has actually worked? I'd like to add that to my tracking this month.

  • @bows22 I’m sorry you didn’t get your pumpkin patch weekend, but your relaxing weekend sounds just as great!
@fitzfizz I’m glad everyone kept their mouths shut. Family weekends are always nice!
@runningoncookies I’m sorry your RE appointment didn’t go well this morning. 🤞🏼 For some follicle growth soon!
@And846 *TMI* I use two fingers (my middle and ring fingers) and sweep around the outer sides of my cervix so I can “collect” some to examine. While I’m doing it, I also measure my cervix position and check the opening and texture of the cervix. Might as well try it all while up there, is my thinking.

    Month/Cycle: 4/5

    CD: 2

WAYDTGKU: vitex prenatals (new this cycle), vitamins C and E, BBT, CM, CP, OPKs, EOD HIO starting CD15

R/R: We went to the apple orchard this weekend and picked apples and played a bunch of games. It was absolutely packed but we were masks and used sanitizer often. I am virtually teaching again this week, as COVID cases have only gone up. Of course, WI is the new epicenter of the virus in the country, so I don’t expect to go back anytime soon.

    CS/Q: boring, but why not.

  • @bows22 Sounds like a really nice weekend, despite the change in plans! I hear you on "work from home" life, as much as I miss my colleagues it's been really nice working from home full-time. Really reduces stress to know that if I don't get something done over the weekend I'll be able to do it during the week

@fitzfizz Glad they picked up that you aren't ready and you had a nice visit

@runningoncookies Ugh, I'm sorry for the bad appointment

@And846 I avoid laundry like the plague, only doing it when it's absolutely necessary (i.e. no more underwear and no time to buy more). This is one reason my husband and I do our laundry separately, he'd run out of clothes way before I do.

    Month/Cycle: 28/2 AL

    CD: 14

    WAYDTGKU: OPKs, vitamins

R/R: Usual rant that it's Monday, but overall doing ok. Had a Zoom call with some close friends, which was the first time I've spoken with them since my most recent loss (they know about it). Did ok, a lot of the conversation revolved around kids since that dominates their lives these days, but thankfully wasn't as upsetting as I'd feared.

CS/Q: none, though OPKs seem to indicate that I'll be ovulating tomorrow

  • @And846 I check cm when I check cp, using 1 finger to see postition and texture. I have heard of checking on the toilet paper, but that method doesn't work for me. I start checking after AF ends.
@fitzfizz sounds like a nice weekend. So glad your family seemed to understand and avoid the subject.
@runningoncookies sorry for the news of no follicle growth. FX for good growth by Thursday
@bows glad you had a nice weekend despite the change of plans. And yay for being able to catch up laundry today.

R/R: had a productive weekend. Only thing I didn't seem to get done was baking. There's always today. DW family was supposed to bring us her grandmother's hutch this morning, but their truck broke down so we'll it that happens this week.

  • @bows22 That's a bummer about the pumpkin patch but it's nice to have a productive weekend. The covid bathroom issue is one I feel like is often problematic.

@fitzfizz That's nice-- I feel like it's so rare for a whole family to have that kind of tact!

@runningoncookies Oh I'm sorry-- that is disappointing. fx for good growth at the next appt!

@chindimples04 We went to an orchard a few weeks ago and it was also packed, but it's my favorite part of fall. And outside with masks is generally fine, but i feel like we all have crowd anxiety now. I literally have dreams about it.

@akoros That sounds nice-- I also have some fears about talking to friends and getting upset re: loss, but usually once I do it I'm glad I did.

@Kenneylynn3 Yay for productive weekend. Not sure what the weather is like near you, but it's a rainy and cool here so a great day for baking.

    Month/Cycle: 5/1 AL

    CD: 8

    WAYDTGKU: opks, temps

R/R: My brother and sister in law are visiting tonight, which is fun-- she is in residency in Chicago so even without covid we would not get to see them much. Had a really nice weekend seeing friends (outside, of course-- worried what will happen in new england when being outside gets less pleasant).

CS/Q: Temps are crazy and opks have been *almost* positive for days. Chalking it up to crazy first AL cycle.
    Details in spoiler, *tw* loss/pg

Also still having VERY faint positive hpts so I spent some time googling whether you can actually ovulate with hcg in your system. If any of you are interested, this is one of those places where the conventional wisdom seems to be pretty wrong. All of the like standard places say "when your hcg goes to zero/gets below 5 your cycle will start", but looking at papers where they actually followed women after miscarriage, many of them did ovulate with hcg levels as high as 35 in their system (and this was small N, like 18 or 20 so totally possible with more). So just an FYI-- still don't know if O will be easy to track, even if it happens.

@And846 CM thoughts in spoiler, in case it grosses people out.

I think this depends on how much you have. My sense is that some women have a LOT of cm, and so it's either super obvious every time they wipe, or very easy to just swipe around the outside of the vagina to check. I don't have as much, so for a while I was actually like swiping around the cervix to check, but some people don't recommend this (tbh I'm not sure why). I have actually found the most reliable method, which is big it TCOYF and also the easiest, is just to look for a "slippery" sensation when I wipe.

  • @bumblebee0210 great insight! I think I’ll try that method first this month. Also wondering how you’d social distance is winter in NE - is it back to zoom?

@akoros i used that method once upon a time. Just buy new undies when needed. I’m better now abs do laundry weekly but my DH is always doing his laundry in small batches. He never has an empty hanger and 100% clean clothes

Wow -- thread's hopping this morning!

@bows22 it's too bad YH wasn't feeling well enough to go to the pumpkin patch; MH also has occasional issues with his stomach so we've had to cancel plans in the past, or just I went.
@fitzfizz glad to hear that people stayed away from touchy subjects during your family gathering. I also hope your workload is lower this week, so you can take some of that weekend "awwww" feeling as far into the week as possible.
@runningoncookies oh I'm so sorry that your monitoring appointment didn't go well! FX for Thursday. I am in disbelief at how Clomid affects everyone so differently.
@And846 Good luck with your work week; even though it sounds like it'll be a busy one, I hope it flies by.
@chindimples04 I'm sorry to see you back on this side of the equation. Your trip to the apple orchard sounds amazing and good for you for taking all the necessary precautions. I hope you get into the virtual teaching groove; I can only imagine how stressful that can be.
@akoros Glad to hear that a conversation dominated by the subject of kids didn't bother you too much. I have strong feelings about this... I've recently started "Unfollowing" Facebook friends that only post photos of their kids (though not unfriending). I have a few friends that have chosen to post child photos to private groups they've created / invited ppl to and I'm a big fan of this approach.
@Kenneylynn3 I hope you get that hutch soon; good luck with your baking projects!
@bumblebee0210 Hopefully you get a "sure" positive OPK soon. Also thanks for sharing that research in your spoiler. I'm a big research nerd when it comes to all things TTC.

R/R: It was my birthday weekend and even though our plans changed last minute (cancelled our camping trip to Tahoe due to poor air quality), it was a wonderful weekend. I started my day yesterday by picking up my free bday drink from Starbucks and then did some groceries; then proceeded to relaxation and feasting. We made a leg of lamb on our Big Green Egg with a side of greek-style potatoes and a simple salad with balsamic. MH was super awesome all day. He didn't mention how much older I am than him even once (it's our most popular inside joke; I'm only 17 months older). It was a really good bday. 🙂

No rants today! (Well, one... but I'll save it for the IF thread)

CS/Q: Bbt is kind of messing with me. It's been on the rise for the past 2 days, even though my OPKs just turned positive overnight. RHR also started to increase yesterday/is higher today which signals O is coming. But also had EWCM yesterday. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I'll O tonight.

@runningoncookies come on follies! I would have been like you and thought/hoped it would speed things up. Hopefully you won’t have to go back too many times.

@and846 I usually will stay up but I do at least 5 loads (I’m picky about how things are washed so I separate a lot) and only had 1 done before we left (I didn’t realize we were going to stay there allllll day) so it would have been too late and I didn’t want to start Monday off on a bad (tired) foot! Good luck with inventory prep! Going to do inventory test counts is probably my least favorite part of my job

@ch@chindimples04 ugh, I’m sorry about the virtual teaching. I did realize things were so bad there. I hope it goes smoothly!

@ak@akoros Im glad your zoom call was good. I wish your friends could have been a little more sensitive but I’m sure it’s hard these days when there isn’t as much going on in any of our lives.

    @kenneyl@Kenneylynn3 what are you baking??

@bumbleb@bumblebee0210 oh wow that is really interesting about the HCg. Either way though I hope you start seeing negative HPTs soon so that you can for sure move on ❤️

@acleveruse@acleverusername happy belated birthday! I’m glad you had a great day!

  • Hi everyone - RE told me I am ready to trigger today (Monday), meaning I should ovulate sometime tomorrow (Tuesday). We had sex yesterday (Sunday). Given all of this timing, when are the best times for us to have sex?
  • @bows22 Honestly, they don't even realize it. I did notice that they tried to bring up other topics, but considering that one has an infant, another has a 2-year-old, and the third has a 4-year-old and an almost-2-year-old I get that it's hard for them to really focus on anything else. This is where I get a little jealous of my husband, the guys always seem happy to talk about other things.
  • @akoros I missed your post. I was laughing at it because laundry is probably my favorite chores to do.
@acleverusername thanks, we do too! So glad you got to enjoy your birthday despite the change of plans.
@bows22 so I need to make more molasses cookies, since we are them all. And I would like to get df cinnamon rolls started. FX
@bumblebee0210 weather is a little too nice to be baking, so I think I might put together cinnamon rolls to put in the freezer for as cooler day.
    On your spoiler...

I am 99% sure I ovulated shortly after, about 2 weeks,my miscarriage judging by my cm. I did wait until my 1st AF though so I could time appropriately since we use a AI with a known donor.

  • So busy here today!!

@bows22 the wfh life for being able to get stuff done is amazing. Sorry about the pumpkin patch cancelation!
@fitzfizz glad you had a nice visit!
@runningoncookies sorry about your follicles but FX for growth!
@And846 overcast weather makes me want to curl up on the couch and not be productive at all!
@chindimples04 the apple orchard sounds nice, even if too busy.
@akoros I’m like you with laundry. I avoid it unless necessary.
@Kenneylynn3 I’ll post some recipes in the baking thread! Didn’t want to bump the other thread.
@acleverusername, happy birthday weekend! Sounds like a nice weekend.

R/R:  I have a sore throat today and I am really hoping it goes away. Feeling pretty sad about my H’s nana and how weird it is to know we FaceTimed last week and that was it. Doesn’t feel real.

Anyways. Weather is super rainy here so we had a very low key working day.

    CS/Q:

Slept not so great last night and woke up around 5:30. Took my temp because I knew I’d struggle falling asleep again and I didn’t. I tossed and turned until 6:30 so I used the 5:30 temp but it was an hour earlier than normal. 🤷🏽‍♀️ But OPK was high. So I’m hoping to O tmr and then we hit O-1. With my sore throat not sure I’ll feel up to HIO tmr.

Thank you! I triggered today. We had had sex yesterday and did today as well. Will again tomorrow and Wednesday based on the feedback. My RE said to skip Wed, but have sex Thurs, which sounds odd to me. If I trigger today, I ovulate 36 hours later, and egg lives 12-24 hours, so Thursday is way too late it seems. Wednesday looks like the last viable day.

@fingerscrossed1 Seems to me like you just answered your own question. Go with your gut, and with whatever works best for you and YH. There is no exact science for TI. The basic principle is for there to be healthy, motile sperm available to meet the egg if/when it is released. There are various schools of thought on how to do this, some believe in every-other-day sex leading up to your LH surge, then everyday until O, then skip a day and HIO once more (look up SMEP, the Sperm Meets Egg Plan, if you haven't already). Sometimes you can nail the timing and it still doesn't result in a pregnancy.

  • @kiki047 Ooh thank you - no I hadn't heard of SMEP. I just looked into it and it looks like that's what my RE was going for. I guess I just don't understand why you skip 1 day on the SMEP plan (this is also what my RE said) and instead try on a later date, when that later date seems outside of the fertile window.
  • *lurking*

@fingerscrossed1 I don't have a scientific answer for that, but in my experience ovulation timing is also not an exact science. Like you said, it could be anywhere within a 24-36hr window and the egg can live anywhere from 12-24hrs. Sperm can live up to, what, 5 days in the right environment? So in my entirely non-medical opinion, I would guess that skipping that one day has more to do with preventing burnout and just having an insurance plan to have one last go at it in case of very late ovulation and a stubborn egg that sticks around a little longer.

This chart has always stuck with me so every once in a while I'll pull it out again. Timing is a little different when you're triggering and doing TI or IUI but the concept is the same.

  • @And846 I usually check for CM on the TP or see if there’s any in my underwear. There have been months where I don’t have as much and do more of a cervix “swipe”, but usually if I have watery or EW, I can tell from the outside checks.

@chindimples04 your weekend sounds so fun! How is teaching completely virtually going? I hope not TOO stressful.

@akoros I’m glad that you were able to talk to your friends and have a nice time

@Kenneylynn3 I’m glad you had a productive weekend! I know you were feeling stressed about your to do list. Did you get your baking done today?

@bumblebee0210 enjoy your family visit tonight!

@acleverusername I’m glad you were still able to have a nice birthday celebration!

@AKuzReve I hope you feel better physically and emotionally...I’m so sorry about YH’s nana ❤️
  • @kiki047 great chart! thanks for sharing.
  • @AKuzReve thanks. As for temps, an hour of shouldn't be bad. I try not to make the window greater than 2 hours, but I also know if I don't fall back asleep for at least 3 hours, my temps higher than normal.

@runningoncookies ha! Not yet. There's still daylight.... right?

  • @runningoncookies So sorry about your follicles. I hope they start maturing soon!
@And846 My CM plan is basically just to make a note of it if it is obvious, so I really don't rely on that. Your laundry skills are impressive to me. I don't think I have ever been at a point of having my laundry "done." Always some perpetual state of partially done.
@chindimples04 I hope you had fun at the apple orchard, sounds like a nice day.
@akoros I'm with you on the laundry. I have bought new clothes to avoid laundry more times than I care to think about.
@Kenneylynn3 An antique hutch sounds nice, is it something you are refinishing? Or already in good shape?
@acleverusername Weekend good feelings died when I worked for 12 hours today before giving up and deciding I'd rather go in early tomorrow than stay at work any longer. Womp womp. I hope you have some fun with O tonight!
@AKuzReve I find that if I temp earlier it is usually OK (later than usual not so much), so maybe it is just the pre-ovulation dip.

FWIW, I had read a bit about similar things and ended up taking an FRER the same day as my OPK was positive before the first cycle after my loss. I knew I was benched and I wanted to be certain that a negative after O was a true negative. I had a faint line on the FRER the same day as the positive OPK, and a couple days later FRER was negative.

  • Wow! I just got done with my weekly close and I’m surprised at how busy this board was today.

@fitzfizz i always try to do my laundry each week on the night before my day off. That way I’m 100% clean and can enjoy day off. Now, towels and sheets. I avoid that laundry abs my DH dies it.
  • @fitzfizz I believe it is in good shape. My desk cousins don't have room for it in their new place, so we are "inheriting" it.
