R/R: I hope everyone had a nice weekend! We cancelled our pumpkin patch trip yesterday, DH’s stomach is bothering him and we didn’t know what the bathroom situation would be. So instead we got some things handled that we have been meaning to (returns, etc) and had a nice visit with my in-laws. We were there for so long though so I didn’t get the laundry finished when we got home and now I’m feeling flustered today. Loving the work from home life so I can get it finished today!

@fitzfizz I’m glad that the conversation didn’t steer towards your brother and SIL this weekend. Hopefully your good chill energy does continue throughout the week!

WAYDTGKU: clomid, ovidrel, IUI
R/R: We had the best weekend!! We visited with family on Saturday basically all day, and spent the weekend enjoying the beautiful weather outside. I unfortunately immediately lost my weekend good mood at my RE monitoring appointment this morning, when they told me that I have literally no good follicles growing at the moment. Keeping my FX for growth and heading back on Thursday. I was so hoping that the clomid would shorten my cycles but the RE said it could look more like a normal length cycle this month. Ugh. If that’s the case I’ll have to go back quite a few more times before we can schedule the IUI.
CS/Q:
@fitzfizz that sounds like at the perfect tone to head into the week. And kudos to your family for getting the hint about and not brining topics up.

R/R: Nothing too much here - just getting ready to head into a busy work with with inventory on the horizon next Monday, so that will be a lot of fun prep work this week. But this overcast weather makes me just want to stay home and read on the couch.
CS/Q: What is the best way to check CM? I've read a few options from Dr. Google, but what has actually worked? I'd like to add that to my tracking this month.
@fitzfizz I’m glad everyone kept their mouths shut. Family weekends are always nice!
@runningoncookies I’m sorry your RE appointment didn’t go well this morning. 🤞🏼 For some follicle growth soon!
@And846 *TMI* I use two fingers (my middle and ring fingers) and sweep around the outer sides of my cervix so I can “collect” some to examine. While I’m doing it, I also measure my cervix position and check the opening and texture of the cervix. Might as well try it all while up there, is my thinking.

WAYDTGKU: vitex prenatals (new this cycle), vitamins C and E, BBT, CM, CP, OPKs, EOD HIO starting CD15
R/R: We went to the apple orchard this weekend and picked apples and played a bunch of games. It was absolutely packed but we were masks and used sanitizer often. I am virtually teaching again this week, as COVID cases have only gone up. Of course, WI is the new epicenter of the virus in the country, so I don’t expect to go back anytime soon.
CS/Q: boring, but why not.

@runningoncookies Ugh, I'm sorry for the bad appointment
@And846 I avoid laundry like the plague, only doing it when it's absolutely necessary (i.e. no more underwear and no time to buy more). This is one reason my husband and I do our laundry separately, he'd run out of clothes way before I do.

R/R: Usual rant that it's Monday, but overall doing ok. Had a Zoom call with some close friends, which was the first time I've spoken with them since my most recent loss (they know about it). Did ok, a lot of the conversation revolved around kids since that dominates their lives these days, but thankfully wasn't as upsetting as I'd feared.
CS/Q: none, though OPKs seem to indicate that I'll be ovulating tomorrow
@fitzfizz sounds like a nice weekend. So glad your family seemed to understand and avoid the subject.
@runningoncookies sorry for the news of no follicle growth. FX for good growth by Thursday

@runningoncookies Oh I'm sorry-- that is disappointing. fx for good growth at the next appt!
@chindimples04 We went to an orchard a few weeks ago and it was also packed, but it's my favorite part of fall. And outside with masks is generally fine, but i feel like we all have crowd anxiety now. I literally have dreams about it.
@akoros That sounds nice-- I also have some fears about talking to friends and getting upset re: loss, but usually once I do it I'm glad I did.

@And846 CM thoughts in spoiler, in case it grosses people out.
I think this depends on how much you have. My sense is that some women have a LOT of cm, and so it's either super obvious every time they wipe, or very easy to just swipe around the outside of the vagina to check. I don't have as much, so for a while I was actually like swiping around the cervix to check, but some people don't recommend this (tbh I'm not sure why). I have actually found the most reliable method, which is big it TCOYF and also the easiest, is just to look for a "slippery" sensation when I wipe.

@bows22 it's too bad YH wasn't feeling well enough to go to the pumpkin patch; MH also has occasional issues with his stomach so we've had to cancel plans in the past, or just I went.
@fitzfizz glad to hear that people stayed away from touchy subjects during your family gathering. I also hope your workload is lower this week, so you can take some of that weekend "awwww" feeling as far into the week as possible.
@runningoncookies oh I'm so sorry that your monitoring appointment didn't go well! FX for Thursday. I am in disbelief at how Clomid affects everyone so differently.
@And846 Good luck with your work week; even though it sounds like it'll be a busy one, I hope it flies by.
@chindimples04 I'm sorry to see you back on this side of the equation. Your trip to the apple orchard sounds amazing and good for you for taking all the necessary precautions. I hope you get into the virtual teaching groove; I can only imagine how stressful that can be.
@akoros Glad to hear that a conversation dominated by the subject of kids didn't bother you too much. I have strong feelings about this... I've recently started "Unfollowing" Facebook friends that only post photos of their kids (though not unfriending). I have a few friends that have chosen to post child photos to private groups they've created / invited ppl to and I'm a big fan of this approach.
@Kenneylynn3 I hope you get that hutch soon; good luck with your baking projects!
@bumblebee0210 Hopefully you get a "sure" positive OPK soon. Also thanks for sharing that research in your spoiler. I'm a big research nerd when it comes to all things TTC.

R/R: It was my birthday weekend and even though our plans changed last minute (cancelled our camping trip to Tahoe due to poor air quality), it was a wonderful weekend. I started my day yesterday by picking up my free bday drink from Starbucks and then did some groceries; then proceeded to relaxation and feasting. We made a leg of lamb on our Big Green Egg with a side of greek-style potatoes and a simple salad with balsamic. MH was super awesome all day. He didn't mention how much older I am than him even once (it's our most popular inside joke; I'm only 17 months older). It was a really good bday. 🙂
No rants today! (Well, one... but I'll save it for the IF thread)
CS/Q: Bbt is kind of messing with me. It's been on the rise for the past 2 days, even though my OPKs just turned positive overnight. RHR also started to increase yesterday/is higher today which signals O is coming. But also had EWCM yesterday. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I'll O tonight.

R/R: I have a sore throat today and I am really hoping it goes away. Feeling pretty sad about my H’s nana and how weird it is to know we FaceTimed last week and that was it. Doesn’t feel real.
Anyways. Weather is super rainy here so we had a very low key working day.
CS/Q:
Slept not so great last night and woke up around 5:30. Took my temp because I knew I’d struggle falling asleep again and I didn’t. I tossed and turned until 6:30 so I used the 5:30 temp but it was an hour earlier than normal. 🤷🏽♀️ But OPK was high. So I’m hoping to O tmr and then we hit O-1. With my sore throat not sure I’ll feel up to HIO tmr.

Thank you! I triggered today. We had had sex yesterday and did today as well. Will again tomorrow and Wednesday based on the feedback. My RE said to skip Wed, but have sex Thurs, which sounds odd to me. If I trigger today, I ovulate 36 hours later, and egg lives 12-24 hours, so Thursday is way too late it seems. Wednesday looks like the last viable day.
@fingerscrossed1 Seems to me like you just answered your own question. Go with your gut, and with whatever works best for you and YH. There is no exact science for TI. The basic principle is for there to be healthy, motile sperm available to meet the egg if/when it is released. There are various schools of thought on how to do this, some believe in every-other-day sex leading up to your LH surge, then everyday until O, then skip a day and HIO once more (look up SMEP, the Sperm Meets Egg Plan, if you haven't already). Sometimes you can nail the timing and it still doesn't result in a pregnancy.

@fingerscrossed1 I don't have a scientific answer for that, but in my experience ovulation timing is also not an exact science. Like you said, it could be anywhere within a 24-36hr window and the egg can live anywhere from 12-24hrs. Sperm can live up to, what, 5 days in the right environment? So in my entirely non-medical opinion, I would guess that skipping that one day has more to do with preventing burnout and just having an insurance plan to have one last go at it in case of very late ovulation and a stubborn egg that sticks around a little longer.
This chart has always stuck with me so every once in a while I'll pull it out again. Timing is a little different when you're triggering and doing TI or IUI but the concept is the same.

FWIW, I had read a bit about similar things and ended up taking an FRER the same day as my OPK was positive before the first cycle after my loss. I knew I was benched and I wanted to be certain that a negative after O was a true negative. I had a faint line on the FRER the same day as the positive OPK, and a couple days later FRER was negative.
@fitzfizz i always try to do my laundry each week on the night before my day off. That way I’m 100% clean and can enjoy day off. Now, towels and sheets. I avoid that laundry abs my DH dies it.
