No meal plan this week 😬 But just devoured a berry toaster strudel and a bowl of strawberries with whipped cream. Felt queasy all day and happy to have some relief with these food choices lol. I'm somewhere in the middle, but lean a little more on the extroverted side.
No meal plans. I'm sick of coming up with dinner ideas, so I went on strike. There are two other adults in the house. This week, I'm craving salad, which is also my fa favorite food.
I'm an extroverted introvert. Who knew that was actually a thing? It means I can be sociable when I need to (work function, presentations, etc), but I have to build up to it and have serious recharge time afterwards. I'm basically emotionally drained after and need the weekend alone to recharge.
Whats your meal plan for the week OR what have you been craving/loving/wanting/hating lately? My body still wants celery and peanut butter, and I have been eating these amazing popsicles I found, non-stop. Nothing else sounds good, but I still force myself to eat it or my nausea gets worse.
GTKY: Are you an extrovert or introvert? +1 for outgoing introvert! It really depends on the day, the situation and my mood.
No real meal plan this week. I had a craving for falafel yesterday, so we got that. I think I'm making pasta for dinner for MH, so we'll see if that sounds good to me. I had a craving for Fruity Pebbles, so definitely making a Target run after work. I wish I could eat a vegetable, but my body is like no, thank you.
Another one for extroverted introvert over here! I HATE small talk and networking type functions; I can do it but I HATE it and need some serious recharging after.
Yesterday DH and I had to go into NYC to run an errand and I haven't been into the city since Covid, soooo of course I had to get ALL of my favorite foods that I've been wanting for months. Got my favorite pasta from our fav italian place, then fav pizza slices, then banana pudding from fav bakery #1 and the most amazing choc pb cookies from fav bakery #2. Yesterday was seriously a (pregnant girl's) dream come true hahah
@theblondebump whoa that sounds like a total WIN kind of day!!! I totally get you tho - we're out in the suburbs and really haven't been in to the "city" much during covid, but the few times I have lately I've absolutely stopped at my favorite places and gotten fav things! @bbrahmbhatt I'm getting major "no" on veggies too, which is killing me because I normally love them and I'm also realizing how poorly I'm really eating lately. @BuckeyeNut05 celery & pb sounds delish! love the popsicles too! @aisukurimsarang okay love the extroverted introvert thing! I've always thought I was more of an extrovert because I love people and talking (and I had to do it a ton for my old job - lots of events and chit chat with reps), but I always felt SO drained after that stuff. Over covid I realized that I actually really must be an introvert because I love being alone hahaha! @runsoncoffeestrawberries w/ whipped cream sounds AMAZING. Now I need that. And really, you're just doing what you need to for the baby, you know? So good life choices right there!
Realized I never actually answered myself, so here goes: Still meal planning but food is to hit or miss for me. Today I had hummus and tabbouleh with pita for lunch (i had a dentist appt & it happened to be RIGHT by an amazing mediterranean place and I just had to stop, you feel me @theblondebump!?) but then tonight dinner smells awful so I'll probably skip everything everyone else is eating and just have plain pasta.
No meal plan, no cravings, just aversions. I was able to eat some guac which was huge for me, though. Then I had takeout form this great italian place with ravioli in a kale cream sauce...kale is healthy so I'm calling it a win. Also, I think I've figured out what I can eat and I haven't lost weight at the same pace as the first few weeks.
I am an introvert. I suppose I'm also an extroverted introvert b/c sometimes people are surprised to hear that I'm an introvert. I don't dislike being around people but I prefer smaller groups and need a break to read or mindlessly watch TV. My boss was actually SHOCKED I was an introvert after working for her for 5 or so years. I can be a social butterfly at work events but I like the people I work with. DH and I have been together since I was 16 and he was 18 - he sometimes gets introvert and sometimes extrovert when he takes the Meyers Briggs test but he didn't understand that an introvert is recharged from quiet time or time alone until he took that test for the first time in Org. Behavior in his MBA program. So after dating for 6 or 7 years, he said "I just realized that when you wanted to read it wasn't because you were mad at me, you were just recharging."
Right now I’m really craving Jimmy John’s. It started when I saw a Subway commercial yesterday...I said to DH “I want Subway. No! Jimmy John’s!” 😂 I’m tired of food. I feel hungry on occasion but it’s just such a chore. If money grew on trees I’d order breakfast, lunch, and dinner from out every day. That’s all I want right now - food that’s not in our house already.
Hmm this is a tough question! I used to be 100% an extrovert but I’m definitely not anymore. I still like being around people, but sometimes I really have to force myself to go be people-y. I really started to value alone time after having kids, and if I don’t have enough of it I get overwhelmed and stressed and anxious.
Still many food aversions so not eating that well. However, with the nausea down I've been sliding in some healthy stuff. Delicata squash with apples and kale on Sunday. So good, and felt like it was fall. I have a meal plan, but having a tough time following through. Hoping to make sweet potato roll ups and pad thai this week.
Whats your meal plan for the week OR what have you been craving/loving/wanting/hating lately? No plans for the week. I want everything cinnamon lately. I had a cinnamon crunch bagel from Panera this morning and it was AMAZING. I should have ordered one for every day this week.
GTKY: Are you an extrovert or introvert? Extroverted introvert. I used to be more extroverted, and definitely have no problem being that person at events, with friends, or work, but I need time to recharge. I am much happier on the couch in sweats with a glass of wine than out at a bar or social event. Summers generally wear me out, then i hibernate and recharge in the fall and winter
The past few days have been mildly better than last week so I am back to cooking part time.
Monday: TJ’s orange chicken and veg fried rice Tuesday: pulled pork in the instant pot, steamed green beans and fruit Wednesday: takeout veggie sushi and chicken rice bowls Thursday: leftover pork. Either bbq sandwiches again or I’ll turn it into street tacos Friday: pizza Saturday: eggplant parm. I’ll make and deliver an extra for my friend who just gave birth last week!
@bblair24 I wish I could just go eat out for every meal too. I basically just don’t want anything to do with meal prep whatsoever.
That being said, no meal prep. I’m still just so nauseous, today was a rough day, I just make what I think I can stomach. It makes grocery shopping pretty tough. I figure if I just make basic simple meals for my kids I can just pick at that and call it good.
For cravings though, I caved this week. I’ve been vegan for 4.5 years, but within the last year started eating eggs occasionally. I’ve gotten an egg sandwich from subway like four times in the last week. And I’ve also weirdly had cravings for steak and shrimp. I’m really not sure if I could stomach red meat, but I got a tray of a cooked shrimp cocktail (since it requires no prep work besides opening it!) and I have consumed the entire thing in a couple of days. I’m not sure if it’s the omega fats, the extra protein or what, but I seriously enjoyed it. I might just add some fish into my week a couple of times because I’m struggling with food so so much.
Another extroverted introvert here! I think people always just assume I’m an extrovert because I will be social and can get along with just about anyone. But I value my own alone time way more. We live with family and with Covid I have truly had a hard time coping because someone is always with me and with kids that won’t leave you alone it’s tough!
@theletlers oh man, we're about to move in with my mom and sister indefinitely (at least 2 months). The most I've stayed there since college was 3 weeks and I guess technically we went to the ILS for a while (although my mom's is a break from them for sure). Luckily we're all introverts, including my 3yo...unsure on the 16mo. Plus my mom works the evening shift usually now (got into that so she can help us with watching the girls when we move) plus working at target over the holidays she'll be gone a lot. My sister is absolutely an introverted introvert. No one would ever confuse her for an extrovert 😂
@cagncoo12 I’ve been craving cinnamon too! It’s funny because I haven’t wanted bread. Not even a little. I couldn’t even touch it to make the girls sandwiches. But yesterday I started thinking about the toast my mom used to make me when I was sick - she put butter and cinnamon and sugar on it. I ate several pieces of that yesterday and then put cinnamon and sugar on my bagel this morning. And had DH buy me cinnamon toothpaste because I can’t tolerate mint anymore. 😂
@cagncoo12 omg I haven't had a cin crunch bagel in years but those are soooo good! I ate panera 4 times in the last 8 days! hahaha. Sometimes their soup is literally all I want.
@goldpolkadot@runsoncoffee The spontaneous food favs run was honestly the highlight of my day/week/month/pregnancy thus far. hahaha
Our town fair is hosting a "taste of the fair" take out only event today through Saturday and I'm so excited to devour some fair food!!! All I know for sure is a funnel cake is happening.
@runsoncoffee omg yesss, our town did something similar earlier this month and I was so bummed I missed it. I would loveee a funnel cake right now!! haha.
@theletlers I'm vegetarian usually but have started eating fish recently, so now pescatarian. Shrimp cocktail sounds sooo good right now, and almost nothing sounds good. We have no shrimp in the house and I'm afraid I won't want it by the time I make the effort to go out and find some.
No meal plan, just trying to get by. We have had pita pizzas, takeout, and leftovers of a pasta bake and curry I made last weekend so far this week. Sometimes I can stomach dinner and sometimes I can't. I don't know what we are going to do tonight. I'm thinking maybe just frozen dumpings, pan fried, and shrimp cocktail
Yum @cagncoo12! I hope this craving sticks around for a while. I’m not counting on it - I tend to get tired of things rather quickly these days. For now I’m loving it though!
DH took the girls for a ride tonight and brought home Jimmy Johns. It did not disappoint. Delicious!
ETA that DH is my absolute hero. My cravings have been so much stronger this time around (maybe because I’ve felt so much sicker than previous pregnancies?) that it’s like I HAVE to have the thing and he’s been so great about getting it for me!
@bblair24@cagncoo12 growing up we just called this cinnamon toast. We had a little spice shaker with a mix of cinnamon and sugar to make it. I've had it a good amount this pregnancy. Is this not a normal thing? DH had never had it until I made it. I was like "why do you think cinnamon toast crunch was called that?" and he actually forgets to shorten it and says he's making cinnamon toast crunch sometimes. Am I the only one who calls it "cinnamon toast" and had it frequently growing up?
Whats your meal plan for the week OR what have you been craving/loving/wanting/hating lately? Monday - Linguine Alfredo with spinach & we had tempeh with it. I ended up eating Shreddies lol. Tuesday - Tacos. I did a bowl for myself.
Saturday: Maybe a “pizza” esque sheet pan dish Sunday: I’ll whip up something on the fly
Okay so cravings / aversions. Ladies, my body is NOT my own. I feel like a week or two ago I was worried about overeating, well now I’m going hungry because my body seems to accept nothing. I am cutting dairy for a bit & making sure I stick to whole/multi grain (which is what we normally do..but I was craving white bread earlier - whaat). Shreddies seem to help my stomach (with soy milk).
GTKY: Are you an extrovert or introvert?
I think I’m officially an ambivert - where I’m kinda both. A lot of people assume I’m an extrovert, but I need that time of solace to recharge & rejuvenate. I do get excited and hyper around people though lol. So I decided ambivert!
Hubby & Me: Born 1993 Married: August 2013 Son: December 2018 Baby in heaven: February 2020, was due Sept
@juliebird6 lol I was feeling bad for thinking it was strange that DH hadn't had it or didn't call it that like maybe I was the only one who did that.
Ugh DH made salmon and brussels sprouts and my stomach is super off and I think I might throw up from the smell. And DD1 is resisting sitting at the table and I don't think I can go sit there. My prior pregnancies I could at least sit there but that hasn't been the case some nights this time.
@kvh22 we grew up calling it cinnamon toast and had it all the time as well. I completely forgot about it until my SIL said she had cinnamon toast for breakfast like 3 months ago and it was like a lightbulb turned on in my head and all the cinnamon toast memories came rushing back 😂
Ladies now I want a cinnamon bagel. I’ll be very close to Panera when I go for a doctor appointment tomorrow morning so I might just need to make an extra stop.
I get the honey walnut cream cheese from panera and keep it at home. currently enjoying a mini cin raisin bagel with the panera cream cheese - yum
Two days ago, DH and I had to head back into NYC for another errand and while we were gone, I was watching my dog on our security camera haha. He was crying so much and I felt terrible, so my mom went over to pick him up. To thank her, yesterday DH and I brought her to lunch at this beautiful vineyard near us. It was so nice to sit outside and they have a special fall menu right now. Really wish that I could've had a glass of wine, buttt I did eat allllll the fall things: sweet potato fries with pancetta and fontina cheese, wood fired white pizza with grapes and red wine glaze, salad with apples/walnuts, pumpkin fettuccine and dessert - pumpkin cannoli dip! (all of this was shared among us all, not me on my own lolol). It was delish!
Then last night I was pretty stuffed but by 9:30 pm I was needed a little something but not in the mood for anything. DH was an angel and went to the grocery store to get the exact veggies I wanted and made me a veggie stir fry with brown rice at 10 pm haha.
@theblondebump does your hubby want to lead some sort of husband training? I guess by baby #3, my DH figures he doesn't have to do anything at all...........he would laugh his damn head off if I asked him to do anything even remotely like that. He won't even go to the grocery store, let alone go to the store, come home & put it away, and then cook something with it!
@kvh22 I think it is a normal thing! Although my DH wasn't familiar with it either and he keeps calling it cinnamon toast crunch too, haha! I had forgotten about it. It was one of those things that my mom really only made when I was sick, so I didn't think about it as a normal everyday thing until this week for some reason.
@bblair24 lol at cinnamon toast crunch. It gets me every time.
@theblondebump lol YH sounds like mine during my first pregnancy. Now he's picking up so much of my slack (definitely exacerbating having them home with us b/c of covid) that I wouldn't ask him to do that but he does get me snacks from the kitchen and make me toast and such still when I ask for that. I generally do the groceries but have done lots of online orders during Covid. I need to make another one or go to the store but I almost threw up when I went in person last week. I had to suck on a ginger candy the whole time b/c thinking about food makes me want to vomit. I quickly skimmed your description of your meal and in a couple of weeks that would sound like heaven to me. It did remind me I have some really low sodium sweet potato fries in the freezer that I now want to make.
hahaha @juliebird6 ! I don't know how I got so lucky to marry a guy who genuinely loves things like mopping, but I am especially grateful during pregnancy for his cooking and cleaning skills! But yes @kvh22 he is no doubt extra enthusiastic since its only baby #1! DH hates grocery shopping and pre-pregnancy that was definitely my arena but DH thinks its better that I don't go to places like grocery stores right now and I'm totally fine with that!! haha. I'm spoiled for sure and just going to appreciate it while it lasts! lol
@theblondebump lol being pregnant with no kids was so nice! DH just had to fend for himself and take care of me. Last pregnancy with just a 1yo wasn't too bad but now with a 3yo and a 1yo it's a lot and we get no break b/c of covid and no family nearby. He's doing way more now than he was just taking care of me the first time and he has to work in the evenings after the kids are in bed to make up the hours he missed during the day by helping them with things (I don't have to track my hours but also have to catch up some evenings). I don't know if 2 is *actually* that much harder than one or if it's b/c the kids aren't in daycare (DD1's daycare is currently only open part time but that means one of us has to leave in the middle of the day to pick her up). It didn't seem all that much worse in my prior pregnancy and I definitely sent DH to the grocery store. He is not a chef, though. Meal delivery kits have saved us during this b/c I can't even look at a lot of food, let alone cook it.
Tonight is pizza and movie night but I need to roll out the dough into balls and put it in the refrigerator. It might be overproofed.
@kvh22 sme- no cravings but definite aversions. Nothing sounds good to me.. today I actually started crying because I couldn't do the meal planning I usually do before we grocery shop because everything sounded terrible. So cliche lol.
@bblair24 so I went to my appointment and then I sat in a waiting room for lab work for 50 minutes for them to say they didn’t know if they would be able to do my draw before they closed for lunch in 40 minutes (there were exactly two other people in the waiting room...) so I annoyedly left and drove to Panera that was 2 minutes away to find out they were sold out of the cinnamon crunch bagels 😩 as well as the blueberry 😩 so I settled for a plain toasted sesame one because I needed something to eat.
But my mom baked apple pie today so I had a slice of that.
@kvh22 ugh yes, definitely a lot more on your plate with 2 kiddos! DH only has to deal with one high maintenance pregnant lady and a doggo over here. Plus my mom lives 15 minutes away and is always on call - yesterday I told her I was happy it was fall because it meant she'd be making pumpkin pie soon and this morning I woke up to a text from her with a picture of a pumpkin pie that said "your pumpkin pie is ready" haha, she literally baked me a pie this morning. She would do that even if I wasn't pregnant, she's the best.
@runsoncoffee they are so good - you know how there are bagels out there covered in asiago cheese on the top? This is covered in like caramelized sugar and cinnamon.
