What was the reason for your first c-section? ?I had one because I only dialated 1 centimeter in 14 hours. ?I was maxed out on pitocin and having strong contractions, switching positions, using the birth ball, doing visualizations, and still wasn't progressing. ?I want to do a VBAC, but I'm worried that my next labor will go the same way.
Evie was sunny-side up, and the doctor said that he thought that my pelvic outlet just wasn't big enough to deliver her that way. ?He gave me 40% odds of a successful VBAC if this baby is positioned correctly.
I want to beat the odds, and I'm hoping for some inspirational stories to keep my morale up:).
Re: If you had a VBAC
Hey Coreen! I was fully dilated with Hannah, pushed for 2 1/2 hours, but she was sunny side up, with her head cocked at the top of my pelvis. She wasn't going anywhere. My OB said that she couldn't use a vacuum on her, so we decided to go ahead with the C.
As you know, I had a VBAC with Gavin. I was told I was borderline risk for the vbac to work. I always had this feeling that I could do it. And even if it didn't end up working, I just wanted to try! I felt like if I didn't try, I would always wonder. Even when I was in labor, there was a time where I was worried he was stuck, but he wasn't! I am so thankful that I tried for the VBAC. I feel very fortunate that I had a lot of people in my corner rooting for me. Since I also had GD, there was one doc that wanted to take the baby early instead of letting me go into labor on my own, but I fought her on it, and I won! What I am trying to say is that it is your pregnancy and you should have the birth that you want to have!
I don't know if this helps your decision making, but feel free to ask me any questions. I'm still working on Gavin's birth story. As soon as it's posted I'll let you know!
I had almost the exact same birthing experience as you!

lol I'll take that anyday though!
but on the other hand, you're not a failure if you end up having another c/s...
I was induced with Jacob (42 weeks)
Never dilated until given pitocin
I would only dilate 1 cm ever 3-4 hours
3 epidurals
maxed out on pitocin
...finally got to a 10
pushed for 4 hours
nada.
c/s
This time around, my new dr was willing to let me try. I was not an ideal candiate b/c the chances of that happening to me again were pretty high.
I was determined to have a vbac but also aware that babies will come however they want
When I got to 42 weeks, I was a little less optimistic that I was going to get the vbac but my Dr was still ok with me trying...
I actually started dilating on my own this time around 35 weeks..I think that made a HUGE difference! I was shocked when my Dr said she would still allow a vbac even in an induction, which ultimatley happened. Long story short, the morning of my induction i was at 3 and once they considered me in active labor, Norah was out less than 7 hours later...
After birthing Norah, my Dr thinks that the reason Jacobs birth was unsuccessful was 100% the position of his head...I had no problem pushing Norah out (except for the 3rd degree tear
Her head was in the perfect position...which is why I dilated on my own.
I really really hope you are successful!!! It's an amazing experience
::sending you all my extra vbac dust!::
