Frustrated with my health

I have been having issues for the past three months.  AF showed up in November right after I weaned.  I went on Yaz in December.  Started having some symptoms like nausea, dizziness, headaches, rapid weight gain, total exhaustion. Thought it might be the BC but took a pg test just in case.  Negative.

Symptoms persisted so I called OB who said to make an appt. to get thyroid tested with my PCP.  I went two weeks ago.  Told him all about my symptoms.  Asked if it might be Yaz, to which he replied that Yaz is generally well-tolerated with few side effects.  He ordered blood tests.  Received a letter stating that the levels were normal.  That is great but I still feel like poo on a daily basis.

I'm so very frustrated.  I haven't really been sick.  It's just a general "Oh my God, I feel awful feeling."  I have literally no energy to do anything.

What would your next move be?  Go back to the doctor and whine some more?

  • switch BCs, talk to your therapist--maybe you need to try that anti-depressant cymbalta or something?

Seeing a new therapist next week.  Very excited about that!  However, having suffered from depression pretty much my whole life I know my body well enough to know that something is off.  And it's not just my brain this time ; )

  • Definitely get off Yaz.  Just cause its well tolerated by most doesnt mean you're one of them.  The only way to know if its the cause is to go off it

  • I agree- stop Yaz.  I'm sure your symptoms are 100% caused by your birth control, especially since they are text book symptoms for hormonal BC...regardless of how "most" tolerate Yaz.
  • I would stop the BCP, too, just to see what happens. Hopefull that is the culrpit and you'll feel better soon.

    Love your siggy pic, BTW.

  • I would get off the yaz, and take it from there.  HTH
  • Just last night I saw a commercial on tv saying if you were on yaz or nuvo-ring to call a specific lawyer (they named his name). ?Looks like there are a bunch of women who have been having issues with these two bc's.?

Just stating what i saw on tv... i don't know more than that... if it were me I would stop the yaz.

Hope you start feeling better soon!?

  • Maybe see a regular doc to have more tests ordered?
