Upcoming Appointments: Midwife visit + glucose test in two weeks!
Rave: I didn’t have to get up to pee in the middle of the night last night for the first time in honestly 5 months 🙌🏻 I was shocked when I woke up 😂 Also, I finally order the diaper bag I’ve been wanting forever (Freshly Picked Classic Diaper Bag) and it came the other day and I am obsessed. It’s the perfect size and so cute/fashionable. Can’t wait to start using it!
Questions? Any recommendations on maternity/postpartum underwear? I have my eyes on the under-the-bump bikini underwear from Kindred Bravely. Does anyone have these?
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay ) Ooooo I love them all, but if I had to choose, I would choose the beach! I find the beach sooo relaxing and calming. I can’t lay out in the sun for too long, but laying under an umbrella with a nice breeze off the ocean and a good book is heavenly! ☀️
Rant/Rave: I feel like the third trimester is settling in, even though I still have a couple weeks left in the second. Swollen legs and difficulty getting out of a laying or sitting position. My rave is that I’ve been able walk and work out without much discomfort due to my chiropractic adjustments I think. So at least I’m getting some exercise.
Questions?
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay ) ooh I love all of them. If it’s London I choose city, otherwise probably the beach. Or mountains. Haha.
@lalarose22 jealous of your night with no pee wake-ups. The other night I was up three times 😑. I had a c section and wore the biggest waist-high underwear I could find. Then threw them away after a couple weeks. I’ve been wearing motherhood maternity under the bump undies this pregnancy and last time around I just kept wearing them for awhile after I was done with the granny undies.
Baby is the size of: random: as tall as a mockingbird today?
Upcoming Appointments: Friday for my glucose screen. Dreading it.
Rant/Rave: Still up in the air about work and school. Teachers are supposed to report 2 weeks from today but we still have no signed contract so I have no clue what's actually happening.
Questions?
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay ) Beach. 100% beach.
Rant/Rave: I was supposed to have court this week but I got a subpoena in the mail for september?? So I have no clue if the date was changed, and my state’s attorney won’t call back. So I’m a bit frustrated. But on the bright side I’ve officially decided on Lily Mae as babygirl’s name 😊😊😊
Questions? none!
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay ) Oof that’s tough. I like all the options but I’d probably say beach! I’m crazy pale so I burn easy but I’m a sucker for the ocean.
@surlyjaneausten not yet! in IL they won’t do custody agreements until after the baby is born unfortunately. All of the court stuff now is still for the domestic battery case.
Upcoming Appointments: In two for OB and glucose test
Rant/Rave: I am taking DS to a Drive through animal safari thing tomorrow. He is going to love it! Also he is going to be two next Tuesday 😭😭😭 How is that possible?!?
Questions?
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay ) Hmmm I am going to say Mountain because I go to the beach ever year so it would be nice to try something different. 😉
Rant/Rave: Rave: I've been nervous about my blood pressure since I have been getting the worst headaches recently, but it was normal at the OBs during my checkup! I had preeclampsia last pregnancy - getting my BP checked is always the most stressful parts of my appointments. Rant: DH is on a rotation with his coworkers, so he works every other week. His boss, who is on the other rotation, just found out that someone in his son's grade tested positive for Covid, so they are all quarantined just in case. It is just scary how many places have already had positive cases.
Questions? To go along with the GTKY, is anyone planning on travelling before baby gets here? We will be driving out to Yellowstone in September.
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay ) Although I really loved beach vacations when I was younger, I think I prefer the solitude/beauty of the mountains. DH can't swim and we prefer to get out hiking anyways. 🙂
@1sttimemomma98 that sucks about court being pushed back but congrats on settling on a name!
Upcoming Appointments: First week in September (28 weeks)
Rant/Rave: Rave: It's finally cooled down enough here that I'm not sweating 24/7 🙌
Questions?
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay ) I can't decide between beach and mountains! My parents have a cabin in the mountains near a lake and I love going there, but I went to the beach every summer with my grandparents while growing up so each place is special to me.
@windywoman You're in PA, right? Are you going to Lake Tobias?
@kerriec93 We're going to my parents cabin labor day weekend which is a 2.5 hour drive so kinda traveling. Have fun at Yellowstone! I've always wanted to go there!
@acdc1109 I will trade you the drive time! I'm in Ohio so we will have roughly 20 hours of driving 😭 plus stopping every 1.5 hours to get out and stretch. We flew out to South Dakota last year and loved it, but this is the first time out to Yellowstone!
@kerriec93 Oh, I've been there! A few years ago I went to Montana and we drove (located in PA, eastern side). It was 24 hours of drive time and then added stops I think it was like 36 hours total (and that was just the drive there!). It will be worth it in the end! I've always heard how beautiful Yellowstone is so I'm sure you'll have a great time!
Estimated due date (EDD): 11/26 but current goal is 36 weeks!
Week of pregnancy: 25+5
Baby is the size of: Cauliflowers!
Upcoming Appointments: Had our doppler appt yesterday AM, updated the MFM thread about it if you're interested. Otherwise next appt is Monday, 11/24 for dopplers again
Rant/Rave: Rant: stressing about work also I want a nap -- Rave: left over Chinese food for lunch is pretty much the best thing ever
Questions? have any of you ordered your pumps yet? I'm debating between getting a 2nd Spectra (I still have my Spectra from DD) or getting a Freemie Liberty for the convenience factor
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay )
Like many of you I'm stuck between beach & mountains. Nothing beats going swimming in the ocean, lake swimming just can't compare, BUT as many of you have said I'm hella pasty and burn easily, also hiking and the views in the mountains makes me vote mountains. Eff the city, I like visiting cities, and they're cool esp historical ones, but nahh... too many people/too tourist-y.
@crizz13 ugh... that is so bonkers that they still don't know what's going on I know SDs school STILL hasn't announced what exactly they're doing
@1sttimemomma98 that's frustrating about court being pushed back but hooray for deciding on a name
@windywoman OOO! Have fun with the drive through safari! That sounds so fun! My DD turn 2 on 11/9 and I'm so not okay with it.

@lurvleybunchococonuts Which spectra pumps are you looking at/what do you have already? I have 2 different spectra pumps and I like both! One is more portable that the other one so that will probably be my work one like last time. I'm not planning to get anymore pumps.
@acdc1109 I have the Spectra s2 from DD which was my main pump and I loved, and I also have a Bellababy off of Amazon. It's a good back up and small/portable. One of the settings is nicknamed the nipple ripper though, so users beware. I got it during a great Amazon lightning sale for like $40. https://www.amazon.com/Bellababy-Electric-Feeding-Suction-Definition/dp/B07CZZN1VX The one I'm looking at/debating getting is the Freemie Liberty. I want to try the Freemie cups (I think they'd be easier than flanges sticking out/getting caught on things) and I like the beltclip/compact size. https://freemie.com/products/freemie-liberty-mobile-hands-free-breast-pump
Ultimately I'd LOVE to do the Elvie or Willow, but I just cannot justify spending $400-500 on a pump that may or may not work for me.

@lurvleybunchococonuts I completely agree about the Elvie/Willow! I've heard so many good things about them both but I already have 2 electric and 1 manual pump, plus I got a hand me down madela pump in style a few weeks ago. So many pumps! 😬
@lurvleybunchococonuts So I had a Medela Freestyle with DD1 and liked it fine. I decided to try the Spectra S1 Plus for DD2 which I really liked. I decided this time to order the Motif Luna. My rationale was that I know that I had really great success with the Spectra and it's still working fine, I have all the parts and could just order new membranes if need be.
ETA - I got the Freemie and it was super uncomfortable for me/ not discreet at all and didn't have great suction. I didn't end up using it really at all.
@kerriec93@acdc1109 have fun at yellowstone and the lakhouse! I won’t be traveling anywhere so I’ll be living vicariously through everyone else’s mini vacays 😉
re: breast pumps. I know there’s a thread, but it didn’t really go into specifics. But I also know everyone/every body is different but does any have any general pro/cons about the models they’ve tried? I’m getting mine through my insurance so I don’t know if I even have a say in which model I get but I’d like to know my options!
Upcoming Appointments: September 2nd for glucose ugh
Rant/Rave: I’m impartial this week . No raves no rants hope it stays that way lol
Questions? none this week
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay ) well I live in the mountains so I would always choose that because I love them ... BUT my mom asked me today if she booked family Christmas in Mexico this year if I would be ok traveling and it was an immediate yes! My Family (I have 5 siblings and 12 grand babies including my kids (and this bump) ) and we get together every year for a it trip . This year has obviously been all jacked up . So the last time we did a trip we went to ecquador when the twins were about 6 mo this ish . Then we went to Mexico in Jan with half of us . My biggest obstacle if Covid is still around is getting a passport for this little bug because I would only have 2-3 weeks before we left . We will see but I think I’m up for the challenge . Babies travel so well and the twins will be 3 so I think the trip would actually be ok but maybe I’m just stir crazy because I have been home so much haha
@kerriec93 I love Yellowstone . Montana is my jam , and we are actually in the process of potentially buying a second home there . I’m not sure if I am up for driving there after jay season ( 30 ish weeks ) to find a place or if we will just wait until next summer we will see . The places where we are looking are 15-17 hours away. Not sure how fun that car ride would be with a 4 yr old , 2 2 year olds and a pregnant lady lol .
@ecolton01 we flew to Custer, SD last year and ever since then DH swears we will have a vacation home out there one day 😅 at this point in my pregnancy I wish we could just teleport. Interested to see how the crowds are at Yellowstone with the pandemic going on.
Estimated due date (EDD): Nov 27 Week of pregnancy: 25
Baby is the size of: cauliflower
Upcoming Appointments: Friday!
Rant/Rave: Excited! My best friend is throwing me a virtual baby shower this weekend! It's a little early, but schedules are crazy. All of my family lives out of state, so this is just for my lovely Louisiana people!
Questions? Anyone else super unmotivated lately? All of my hobbies have been on the backburner. Cleaning has been such a chore ( i mean..it is, but still..). Even posting here has been lacking the past few weeks. Just feel so blarg. Might just be the quarantine...
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? Mountains! I lived in Oregon for 2 1/2 years and I miss it every day. Would love to go back, even for a little vacay.
@reirei84 I'm right there with you on being unmotivated. We have vacation in a few weeks and I've done nothing to prep for that. Normally cleaning around the house is relaxing for me - I know, weird - but lately I'm just a couch potato. I wish I could snap my fingers and the house be clean :P hopefully the nesting phase isnt too far off
Rant/Rave:@reirei84 i second the lack of motivation/drive. Ive picked back up A LITTLE, but not much and I too have been pretty dormant here.
I also found myself getting overly wrapped up in little/random things.
I’m still trying to change my name from when I got married last September. I spent HOURS on the phone trying to track down the appropriate documents to send. Social Security was telling me one thing over the phone, their forms said another, and the county courts another. I finally figured it all out and got ready to head to the post office to mail everything out and then my little dog falls out in what I think had to have been a seizure. Needless to say I didn’t get that done today, but I can go tomorrow during lunch. I’d rather have stayed home with him than risked anything leaving him home alone for a stinkin name change. ALL so my name matched my husband and our daughter on her birth certificate haha. Little things...
Questions? I posted in August Symptoms, but today I noticed I was leaking from my nipples. I know it can happen before baby, but this early?? I’m a little nervous what this could mean for my supply when she comes, but I guess it’s a good thing that it’s happening to begin with? Anyone else have this?
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? I would say BEACH! I’ve been to Salt Lake City and it’s beautiful, and we live out in the “country” in VA so there’s mountains all around, but there’s something about the sand and the waves. It is happy place for sure. If I’m picking a beach, I’d pick Folly Beach, SC (Charleston). 🥰🥰 you’ll have to keep us posted on what you picked!!!
kerriec93 That's exactly how I feel about cleaning! Haha. I love to put a podcast in, zone out, and just clean for a couple of hours of productivity. I totally need a nesting phase to get by butt into gear!
@mama-buckets yep I’m leaking here too. I did the first time around and nothing was weird with my supply. I think your body is just practicing making colostrum for when baby gets here. Also I remember how ridiculously long it took to get my name changed! So frustrating!
@mama-buckets I got married last October and have changed my social but that's it 😬 MH keeps bothering me about it lol but it's such a ridiculous process! However i definitely want to change it before LO is born that way ill have my married name on his BC so I need to get on it. I hope your pup is okay!! Thats scary!
@crizz13 Oh, well that's good to know about the Freemie! Did the cups not have great suction? Or was it the pump itself? I can't imagine it'd be very discreet, despite their attempts at marketing it that way. My hope was it'd be a little less awkward and I'd be able to do more vs worrying about bumping my flanges/bottles. Weird question if you're okay answering it, do you have small or large breasts & how elastic are your nipples? (Weirdest thing I've ever asked anyone ) A friend of mine got the Freemie cups and hacked her Spectra to use them and she had great success with them, so curious if it's just your body type didn't work well the the cups or if it was the pump. Also, that's why I'm shying away from getting a 2nd Spectra, since I still have my S2 and the majority of the parts. Just need to get new tubing & duckbill membranes.
@1sttimemomma98 I'd say hands down if you want to get a pump through insurance with $0 extra cost the Spectra S2 is that way to go. It has a bit of a learning curve to it, but it's a GREAT pump. I exclusively pumped with DD for over a year and it was my go to. I tried out the Medela PISA and while it's also a good pump, it's more plug & play vs fine tweaking with the Spectra (if that makes sense). If you can BF and don't end up pumping much that PISA would be fine (IMO), but if you'll be spending much time pumping or are unsure I'd vote Spectra.

@windywoman I LOVE Pittsburgh! It's literally one of my favorite cities (and I don't really like many cities), but it could be because we're very into Pittsburgh sports at my house! I ran the Penguins 6.6k last year and it was so fun!
@1sttimemomma98 I went through a site called areoflow breastpumps both times and it was super easy! I contacted them, sent my prescription for a pump and my insurance info and they told me which pumps I could choose from! I have a spectra S2 and a spectra 9plus (this one is more portable with a rechargeable battery, but the suction wasn't as good). I love both of them for different reasons so I definitely vote spectra if it's covered!
@lurvleybunchococonuts@acdc1109 okay thank you so much!! I’ll definitely be pumping as I go back to school pretty soon after I’m due. I’ve seen ads for aeroflow so I’ll definitely look into that!
@1sttimemomma98 Warning about using aeroflow (unless they've changed it since DD was born), the pump was covered by my insurance, but they only sold them in bundles with a pump bag which the cheapest one at the time was like $70 (again, may be different now). When I asked them about getting JUST the pump it wasn't an option. So I ended up ordering mine through a medical supply company that my insurance uses (just call your insurance and ask where you can order from, a lot of insurances have the info online also).

@1sttimemomma98 I was a total slacker on getting a breast pump. It didnt help that I developed preeclampsia and had a surprise induction at 37 weeks. BUT the lactation consultant at the hospital was soooooooo helpful. Filled out all the paperwork to get a pump and discussed which options were covered by insurance and the pros and cons of each pump. They had a medela pump at the hospital that I was able to use until my spectra pump arrived. I definitely liked my spectra pump, I think my only hang up (and this would be for any pump) is the washing of all the little parts after each use. When I was pumping every 2 hours it just felt like this vicious cycle, I felt like I had just put the parts on the drying rack and then it was time to pump again. So this go around I'm definitely going to try and get more parts so I can rotate using them.
@kerriec93 That is such a good point! I think having extra sets of parts is key for EPing, especially right at the beginning. It IS a vicious cycle otherwise.

@lurvleybunchococonuts I didn't know they only do bundles now. I only got the pump plus parts both times I used them, but if that's the case now, yuck! I'd hate to be forced into paying for something I didn't need just to use their services. For reference, I got my last pump from them about 2 years ago.
Thank you @lurvleybunchococonuts for asking your question about pumps! This is all amazingly helpful info!!! I have been researching pumps and reached out to my insurance company for info last week to see what was covered. I’ve been eyeing the spectra s2 plus for the portability honestly (we travel a lot typically so having that option to pump on the go is kinda nice). My insurance covers the S1 but I can “upgrade” for the out of pocket difference so I’ll honestly probably do that. I stuck on my list two extra sets of replacement parts just in case, but I see that that was probably the right thing to do for cleaning/rotation purposes! I think my insurance said at 28 weeks I can do the order. I see my dr Friday so I’ll talk to them about the prescription part so I can’t have that handled ASAP.
@acdc1109 I was just looking at their website some of their pumps you can order just the pump like the motif or the PISA, but the Spectra is one that you HAVE to do as a bundle for some reason. You may be able to talk to a sales rep and *maybe* there's an option to get just the pump now, but I remember not being able to with DD. I thought it was BS also, hence the reason I ordered from another place I ordered through Edgepark Medical Supply last time and likely will this time around also. It was easy peasy!
@mama-buckets glad it was helpful to you! Since the LONGEST the twins will stay in is 36 weeks which is only 10 weeks away for me I figured I should get that done. Especially since DD had a sh*t latch and I had to pump from the very start. BTW, another option is to get a car plug adapter vs getting the upgrade, although not being plugged into the wall would be nice I used to pump in the car ALL THE TIME and just got an adapter that allows wall plug-ins.

@lurvleybunchococonuts When nursing, my boobs are huge - DD. Not nursing C-D depending on my weight - pretty elastic nipples. I should say I used the Freemie cups with my Spectra not with the actual Freemie pump, so that could have been the issue with suction. I also have pretty decent production and I felt like the cups weren’t designed to hold a lot of milk.
+1 to extra parts and a pumping hack for anyone with access to a fridge at work, keep the parts in a ziploc bag in the fridge so you don’t have to wash them between use during the workday.
@mama-buckets this was me with the name change for before my daughter was born lol.. my drivers license picture I’m 38 weeks pregnant and a giant swollen cow . Everyone I show it to almost always says “wow you lost weight “ ... yeah like a whole baby .
But if you don’t change it their band on their arm will have your maiden name even though you can pick whatever name you want on the bc, everything that’s on them in the hospital will have your name on it and it was really important to DH to have his name . I had my temp paper drivers license at the hospital because I’m such a procrastinator lol so I get it !
@crizz13 I gotcha! Thanks for sharing I have mammoth boobs also and yes to the elastic nips. I was reading and it was recommended to have the cups pretty air tight to your chest so I wonder if that could have been a problem? Supposedly they're designed to hold like 8 oz each? But dunno if that's actually true lol. I dunno what to dooooo

Questions? have any of you ordered your pumps yet? I'm debating between getting a 2nd Spectra (I still have my Spectra from DD) or getting a Freemie Liberty for the convenience factor
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay

The one I'm looking at/debating getting is the Freemie Liberty. I want to try the Freemie cups (I think they'd be easier than flanges sticking out/getting caught on things) and I like the beltclip/compact size.

Ultimately I'd LOVE to do the Elvie or Willow, but I just cannot justify spending $400-500 on a pump that may or may not work for me.

ETA - I got the Freemie and it was super uncomfortable for me/ not discreet at all and didn't have great suction. I didn't end up using it really at all.
@kerriec93 @acdc1109 have fun at yellowstone and the lakhouse!
Week of pregnancy: 25
Baby is the size of:Cauliflower
Upcoming Appointments: September 2nd for glucose ugh
Rant/Rave: I’m impartial this week . No raves no rants hope it stays that way lol
Questions?
none this week
GTKY: Would you rather the beach, the mountains, or the city - why? (selfishly asking to plan my next vacay
well I live in the mountains so I would always choose that because I love them ...
Week of pregnancy: 25
Week of pregnancy: 26+2
Baby is the size of: 🥬 kale
Upcoming Appointments: Friday - glucose test
Rant/Rave: @reirei84 i second the lack of motivation/drive. Ive picked back up A LITTLE, but not much and I too have been pretty dormant here.

@kerriec93 Extra parts sound super helpful! I can’t imagine how overwhelming it must get to constantly wash them😅
@mama-buckets glad it was helpful to you! Since the LONGEST the twins will stay in is 36 weeks which is only 10 weeks away for me I figured I should get that done. Especially since DD had a sh*t latch and I had to pump from the very start. BTW, another option is to get a car plug adapter vs getting the upgrade, although not being plugged into the wall would be nice
