Baby is the size of: a kale...kale leaf? Head of kale?
Upcoming Appointments: First in person apt really — August 14th
Rant/Rave: Hurricane Douglass was thankfully a non event yesterday. We spent the days prepping and then nothing! Rave...I finally got inspiration for baby’s sex announcement. Now on to the wait game for baby. Things have gotten pretty exhausting and tiring!
Questions? Anyone else struggling to do things like walk outside? ...so exhausting!
GTKY: If you won the lottery, what would be your first purchase? I’d buy a home here and rent it out.
Week of pregnancy: 25+2 (I can't believe how far along we are!)
Baby is the size of: A head of cauliflower
Upcoming Appointments: 8/19 - will be taking glucose test and getting blood work + TDAP and Rhogam shots
Rant/Rave: Rave: Working from home is just so nice, I am so grateful I am not in the office right now. Also, my birthday was last Thursday and while we didn't go out or anything I really enjoyed it! MH got me a tiramisu cake and some gorgeous flowers and we just relaxed and spent some quality time together, it was really nice. Rant: Our tentative closing date is next Friday, 8/7, and we STILL haven't heard anything about the appraisal... so MH and I are really nervous, especially as first time home buyers, and we can't bring ourselves to really pack or get excited. I reached out to our lender last Monday and he said the appraiser had gone to the house but they were waiting on the report... Friday still nothing so I emailed again and he sent a really rude reply basically saying to stop bothering him and they'd let us know, like damn.... so I am feeling a bit frustrated with all of that. Hanging in there though.
Questions? None right now!
GTKY: If you won the lottery, what would be your first purchase? Definitely a home for us and a home for my mom, which is my dream to be able to do for her. We'd then pay off our cars and debt and then I would probably go shopping and buy myself something I never would normally!
@name1109 so glad to hear the hurricane ended up not affecting you guys! I was living in South FL when hurricane Matthew came through and was supposed to hit right on top of us, we spent a week boarding up the house and it was chaos, only for nothing but some rain in our area, lol. Love the sex announcement photo! And I am definitely with you, especially with this heat I feel like I am dying every time I have to go outside.
@name1109 first in person appt ever of your pregnancy? A little bit surprised but I also have a friend who has had very few appts total. I'm glad you were not affected by the hurricane. It's been so hot and humid around here and I feel like I'm breathing thicker air when I go for walks. The hills around here are getting so much more difficult too. Is it humid where you are also?
@bserena Happy belated birthday! I'm glad you were able to enjoy it. Good luck with the waiting game on the house. I don't have any experience with house buying, but it sounds stressful. I hope you hear back about the appraisal soon.
Upcoming Appointments: phone appt next week, then I'm onto appts every two weeks! I can't believe we're already there!
Rant/Rave: Just frustrated that DS won't nap today 🙄 Rave: I canned 50 lbs of peaches yesterday! I made 6 flavors of jam and did a bunch of sliced peaches in syrup too.
GTKY: If you won the lottery, what would be your first purchase? Build a big house addition, buy new vehicles and splurge on a bunch of nice kids stuff!

Questions? I want to start preparing freezer meals for when this nugget arrives. I think I'll start a thread if people are interested?
GTKY: If you won the lottery, what would be your first purchase? Pay off student loan debts and then with the remaining $10 go out for ice cream haha

@name1109 Walking outside in this heat has been struggle city for me, too! Glad the hurricane missed you!
@bserena FX for your appraisal! Buying a home is so stressful, but ultimately the best advice I can give you (as an ex-real estate agent) is to control the control-able in the situation. Happy Belated!!!! I love tiramisu.
@hedgepig I love peaches and got some in my farm share last week. So delicious!!!
@ksdelong20 A shared recipe thread would be awesome! I have limited freezer space, but have soooooo many recipes to share since I spend like 50% of my time on earth either cooking or baking!
@bserena Happy belated Birthday! Now I totally want tiramisu 😍😍😍 Any news on the house? That sounds so frustrating. @ksdelong20 I am always down for sharing recipes - our freezer is minuscule, but my mom and dad have a chest freezer that we can put some stuff in if we need to. @laurenmicheley Sunburnt feet are the worst! Hopefully you don't have to put on real shoes anytime soon...

We got our appraisal report back yesterday afternoon, finally! It came back above purchase, so yay! There are some lender required repairs though that we hadn't realized during inspection (nothing major, just peeling paint and some wood on the shed that FHA requires be fixed). I am worried our closing date will have to be pushed out since it took so long to get the appraisal in, but we shall see. Thankfully this is the last hurdle/hoop to jump through!
@warmwinter I’ve had most of my appointments to date over the phone. Usually they’re like ...do you know how much you weigh? Any questions/concerns? No? We’ll see you in a month. My in person have been the two ultrasounds (dating and anatomy scan) and the initial intake. Other than that everything has been phone. Going forward my understanding is it’s in person.
Estimated due date (EDD): 11/8/20 > Week of pregnancy: 25 > Baby is the size of: Head of Cauliflower? > Upcoming Appointments: Friday morning before I leave for out of town. > Rant/Rave: Heartburn is bad, But I'm getting baby's crib and beginning to work on it (Will be painting it) And then leaving for a little vacation on Fri. Also ultrasound. > Questions? None > GTKY: If you won the lottery, what would be your first purchase? An SUV. I'm getting my moms car when she buys a van here in a few weeks and I'm greatful but it is a very small compact car and it just reminds me of a clown car. So small.
@elliemoo Welcome! What are you doing for vacation? I know how you feel about the clown car - my first car was a Ford Festiva hatchback that was basically a tin can with wheels, and it was always comical watching all us college students climbing in and out. But, it was a great car for us, and so fuel efficient! And so easy to park!

@elliemoo Welcome! So nice that your mom is giving you her car. My friends had the tiny-tiniest car with their first baby, but a small car is always been than no car!

Mines a Pontiac Vibe, An 04? 05? It's not NEW but it's gonna be my first car thats actually mine, Sooo thats great. I'm just wondering where i'm going to fit a baby! But it gets nearly 30 MPG Soooo, I'll take it.
We're going to a pretty Rual area that has alot of trails. It's legit the least Vacationy Vacation ever, But it's Family time and I get to have smores every night that we're there. (Two nights, I Think?) So I'm IN even if i cant hike or bike this trip.

For sure! if i was just an average YA it wouldnt be such a thing, But i just kinda have to figure out where to put a baby between now and November.
Ladiesssss I MISS you! Gah life has been INSANE lately!

Rant/Rave: Rave/Rant all in one! Selling a house is HARD. There is so much to do and then on top of it we need to pack. Our settlement is (2) weeks from tomorrow. I AM SO EXCITED but also so stressed about getting everything packed. Rave: I signed up a rep for a newish Activwear company and I am PUMPED! I signed up a week and 1/2 ago and I am close to making $400 in commission by tomorrow. I will take it LOL! And what is one extra thing to add to the plate, right?! LOL. At least it is fun and the clothes are amazing!
Questions? None at the moment.
GTKY: If you won the lottery, what would be your first purchase? Hmmm, DEFINITELY a shore house!
Upcoming Appointments: it's the week of 8/11 but not sure what day, just a midwife appt
Rant/Rave: Rave--MIL isn't giving me the silent treatment! So that's good. We didn't talk about it, but we did talk regularly after the incident I mentioned last week. Maybe we were just both having a bad day... oh another rave! DH put in another AC on the main floor and and I feel so much better dealing with the heat. Rant-- Covid cases are started to go up again around here and I'm just so tired of this. I feel like it's never going to end...
Questions? Does anyone have experience with a doula? Does health insurance ever cover it or is it a big expense?
GTKY: If you won the lottery, what would be your first purchase? First purchase would be a newer car. Right now I have a '98!
@warmwinter I don't have experience with a doula, but I have friends that have. I actually had always intended on using a doula, but because I was laid off, it's not an expense I want to add at the moment. A doula will not be covered for insurance. Their job is to essentially be your advocate during pregnancy and l&d. They cannot advice you, but can explain things in a clearer way in order for you to make informed decisions. Many times, they come to the hospital with all the things to make your l&d experience as pleasant as possible and make sure that you are taken care of in the way you want. Doulas can range in price depending on what market you are in (literally, in NYC they can be around $5K; but in other areas of the country they are much less), their experience (how many live births they have attended), and demand. There are also postpartum doulas that come after the baby is born to cook and help you with the baby (my BFF is one in LA). I do think there is a ton of benefit to having a doula, especially for FTMs, but it isn't a necessary expense.
@laurenmicheley Thanks for the info! One of my friends recommended I look into it, but I'm afraid of the expense. I've seen some statistics on benefits, but it's one of those things where I wonder if certain people who decide on doulas would have those outcomes either way...
@hedgepig Ah, sorry to hear that. I've heard of quite a few people fail the 1 hr and pass the 3 hr, so I hope it all works out for you. Sucks that you have to go through the 3 hr too.
@name1109@warmwinter Thanks ladies. I failed the 1 hr last time and passed the 3 hr no problem, so I am hoping that will be the case this time too. The water fast before the 3 hr was the most miserable part of my whole pregnancy.
