Upcoming Appointments: Today! We were able to finish the A/S and Fetal Echo this morning!
Rant/Rave: 3rd attempt at the A/S and 2nd attempt at the Fetal Echo proved to be successful this morning! Baby girl is in the 52nd percentile, measuring a few days ahead for an EDD of 10/29 and weighs an estimated 1lb8oz. Her heart also was PERFECT!
Questions?
GTKY: What's your best / favorite childhood memory? Hmm that is a tough one...I would probably go with the Disney Cruise I did when I was 5. I still remember going to Disney's private island and wading in the crystal clear water with my teal sparkly bathing suit
Baby is the size of: Grapefruit/Furby/Magnifying glass from Honey I Shrunk the Kids (lol)
Upcoming Appointments: July 22nd for OB checkup
Rant/Rave: Rant: I am starting to get really uncomfortable, especially at night. Backaches have started and baby boy kicks my bladder constantly. I have to get up to pee 3 times a night it seems! I know it'll be worth it but damn lol! Rave: Working from home as of today and I am so glad. My company brought us back literally the day our city began opening back up and I knew it was too soon. So I am just really happy they decided to send us back home to work remotely. I can do my job from home just as well as at work, so I don't see why I should risk my (and the babies) health just to be in the office.
Questions? Nope
GTKY: What's your best / favorite childhood memory? I have a lot of good childhood memories, but I can't really pinpoint a best or favorite. Some of my favorites though would definitely be running around and exploring with my cousins (not actually blood related, just raised to call them that) in the commune I grew up in. (Fun fact: Don't think I have shared this yet, but my mom grew up in a hippie commune and I lived there when I was young). Also, I have a lot of great memories with my grandfather just watching movies on VHS and spending time together. And holidays were always the best as my mom always made it feel so special, even when we were super broke.
@jaclyn0405 So glad to hear the a/s and echo went great!! I know that must be such a relief and I am so happy to hear the good news
@bserena thank you so much love! I was honestly freaking out more than I realized and today I was able to breathe again! And OMG I don't think you shared the commune info before, but that is honestly awesome.
@jaclyn0405 I can imagine! I bet it felt like a weight off of your shoulders And yeah it was pretty awesome and although I don't have much blood related family I have a huge "family" from the commune. Most people have moved away now but we all keep in touch and they hold a big reunion back home every August! It was definitely unconventional and of course wasn't all rainbows, but I am so grateful to be from there!
Rant/Rave: Rave is...TWENTY FOUR WEEKS!!!! That is so crazy.
Rant. I freaked when our oldest had a fever. A COVID/flu/strep test later and a weekend of 100% quarantine—all is fine. COVID has me on edge for any fevers! That and the COVID symptoms are super similar to everything. She had 5-6 of the symptoms and I freaked out.
Rant 2. Sorry. I feel so ungrateful. My sister sent me MY newborn clothes. I swear I hate them all. I do this with each baby. I open the baby things and start panicking. I get anxious and angry. I don’t want to buy new clothes when I have a ton. I just hate them all. The muted prints...I get PPD/PPA and opening the clothes is triggering. I need to be prepping for good mental space....and maybe more baby clothes.

GTKY: What's your best / favorite childhood memory? Summers running around in the neighborhood playing tag with a ton of kids.
Upcoming Appointments: 7/24 OB + Glucose Challenge
Rant/Rave: This is both a rant and a rave! I was laid off way in the beginning of the pandemic. We've been making it work, but my husband's salary got cut by 25%, as well. My unemployment benefits will run out in November, and the CARES act will expire at the end of this month. We've been saving the extra $600 from CARES to get us to February without me needing to go back to work, but then I need to get a job immediately, especially if we are still in our apartment where we have a mortgage to pay (we are looking to buy, ad are all cash so we can cut our monthly expenses down). That being said, I had a call with an old colleague's successful Real Estate company here in NYC who is desperate for more help. I am waiting for a formal offer, but am pretty sure I will receive one today or tomorrow. I'm really excited to have something to do in order to earn an income rather than relaying on the state, however - I am grappling with when to tell them I'm KOed. I figure once they extend the offer, it's appropriate. I wouldn't want to take the job under false pretenses and this is 100% remote and can be very flexible.

GTKY: What's your best / favorite childhood memory? I grew up on a really amazing block! We had a dead end and so many kids around the same ages! We used to play dodgeballs, kickball and ride our bikes in the court all summer. Block parties and night swimming in my pool, too! It was such a fun place to grow up!
Upcoming appointments: 7/27 OB, glucose testing coming after that. 3rd AS tbd
Rant/Rave: Not necessarily a rant but after having a second AS the sonographer still couldn’t get all the measurements and can’t get a good look at babies heart as she doesn’t wanna move. They’ve discussed doing a 3rd AS or potentially sending me out to a specialist just to make sure everything looks good. While I know this is common it still makes me slightly nervous about possibility of needing to see a specialist to make sure the heart looks good and is all intact.

GTKY: What’s your best/favorite childhood memory? Driving down to Disney and spending a few days in the parks with my mom and brother
Upcoming Appointments: 7/29 for second AS for heart pics and OB appt
Rant/Rave: I recently took up Pilates and barre classes to try and help with gestational diabetes and I’m OBSESSED. I love the little studio I go to, and the fact that there are Six of us who are pregnant and doing the prenatal classes all together. Kind of crazy bc it’s a tiny studio anyway, and 6 is the class size max. So yay for more mama friends and we are all due within a 6 week timeframe.

GTKY: What's your best / favorite childhood memory? Man, hard to say just one. I feel very fortunate to have had what I perceive as a wonderful childhood. I remember many happy days with my siblings and parents and friends that were like family. No complaints!
@jaclyn0405 glad the third time was the charm and you got some relief and reassurance - yay for baby girl!
@bserena ok so this is way cool! I read this book called spiritual midwifery that is all about a commune and pregnancy and childbearing on the “farm” which is also a commune. Actually one of my friends is married to a guy who’s birth story was in the book! I love the whole concept of communal living and think it’s an amazing option!
@laurenmicheley fingers crossed for an offer - remote sound like a dream and I would think you being KO wouldn’t be a concern in that situation?

@laurenmicheley I’ve worked from home now for 5 years (three kids in that time frame). In my opinion, good firms want good people. If they’re good, they shouldn’t blink an eye. A man can’t plan on a sports injury or what not, I feel the more women working the more we normalize the conversation. With this pregnancy my work group aside from my bosses don’t know. It doesn’t impact my daily work. For me, I’ve defaulted to honesty. I will need time off here and there for kiddo sickness. I also need a company that supports that. It’s a two way street for me. When I got my last promotion I had to tell them we were moving to Japan within 6 months...when they didn’t blink an eye...I said where do I sign. I need a company that invests in me too. Sorry for the soapbox.
I also want to say that any parent deciding to do the stay at home option...I have the highest regard for that job. It’s an extremely hard one that I am not very good at. Love kids! But work for me makes me more balanced.
Baby is the size of: cantaloupe, length of a tray of Chips Ahoy cookies
Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow- midwife and glucose screening
Rant/Rave: rant- my back is so sore right now. Couldn't get comfortable all day. Rave- DH and I got a dog in February (before we got the big news lol) and we usually walk the dog together in the evening. This week we started taking occasional walks together without the dog (when dog gets other exercise), and it's been very nice!
Questions? I don't think so.
GTKY: What's your best / favorite childhood memory? Visiting my grandmother.
