Product Spotlight: Newborn Apparel

Re: Product Spotlight: Newborn Apparel

  • @babywiik I just looked up Patpat and they have super cute stuff! Did you buy clothes? I'm curious how they hold up after washing!

I second buying second hand stuff! I didnt start buying second hand stuff for DS until he was like 1.5 years old and I have no idea what took me so long! Everything I've ever bought (always from Once Upon a Child) has been AMAZING quality. I actually think I might head up there today to see if I can buy anything for baby. Just not sure if they have winter stuff out right now.

  • @1MommyRunner I've never heard of Mercari. Is it a store? *runs to google*
  • @dumbledoredies it is an app for used stuff! I am a big Mercari fan, I actually discovered it recently and got lots of used maternity stuff on there.

@babywiik Good to hear! I placed an order with patpat last week and was kinda worried about quality... But everything looked so cute, and it's so cheap!!!
  • @mia80 @babywiik I got a couple of things from PatPat, and one was ok, but the other was supposed to be like 6 month and it was huge! Like, it finally fits my 2 year old. Anyways, it was hit or miss for me.

@1MommyRunner @bserena and others, it's because of y'all that I just discovered Mercari and bought DS a pair of shoes! Thanks!

  • I agree with @hedgepig on items being hit or miss. I bought mostly cotton/linen items and they so far seem like they're true to size. I held them up along side other baby clothes I had. I mostly ordered 3-6 month sizes so if they shrunk when I washed them, they could fit a newborn and if they're too big then I can save until baby grows.
@mia80 the cuteness and the price is exactly why I took the chance also! I'm already in love with the blankets I got and if the material is nice, I don't think you can really go wrong with them!
  • Random question: I’m noticing a lot of the zippers and other closures tend to be on the right side (for example, https://www.woolino.com/collections/basic-sleeping-bags/products/4-season-basic-baby-sleeping-bag-merino-wool-stars). I’m left-handed and while still quite useful, I can see how these right-sided closures would be annoying for me, especially when I’m sleep-deprived.

Does anyone know of brands that make southpaw-friendly baby clothes with asymmetrical zippers on the left side?

Of course, a lot of the zippers are in the middle, but I do like to support companies that design things for lefties. Life is so much easier when it doesn’t feel like you’re doing things backwards!
  • @csardaszz I can't help you with your question (although I do hope you find some!), but I can say that I LOVE our Woolino sleep sack like the one you linked!

  • @hedgepig I was looking at it thanks to your suggestion above! ☺️
