  • Ugh, I just saw on the news there is a black bear in my neighborhood (specifically 3 blocks from my house). So that’s terrifying! Black bears are fairly common here, but not usually in the middle of town!

  • @chindimples04 eeek! I think the worst we get in my neck of the woods is coyotes. No bears in my area, thank goodness. My cousin lives in an area where bears are common, though. She caught one on her swing set once!

So who watched "Hamilton" this weekend?!?
  • kvh22kvh22 member
@chindimples04 Crazy! My friend who lives in Reno (so not rural - it's a city - but also lots of trees and bears) posted a video b/c she forgot to take food her MIL left on the door and her doorbell cam caught the bear coming up on their front steps eating it. We have mountain lions here. The worst I grew up with was skunks, raccoons, and turkeys (although not on my street for the turkeys - but on DH's a few miles away). A bit further north from where I grew up there's moose. They aren't scary unless you hit them with your car (more likely to hurt/kill you than them).

@emeraldduchess we are holding out on disney+ for a bit b/c it feels like rabbit hole but we did a one week trial to watch the mandalorian. We'll probably try another trial to watch Hamilton at some point but not in a rush. I totally would have if I had disney+ already though.

DH and I have done a 500 piece puzzle the past two days (so two puzzles this weekend) but this last one is missing a piece!!!! I can't find it. So it's still taking up space on the kitchen table while I hopefully find it. The first one was Amsterdam at night and this one missing a piece is a friends cartoon. It was really fun. Makes me want to rewatch friends episodes but we're in the middle of Schitt's Creek and Survivor.

  • @emeraldduchess I did!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
  • @kvh22 hope you find it. Two weeks after moving into our new house we did the puzzles in about 4 days...one was missing a piece, but our dog ate it 🤷.

@chindimples04 crazy for it to be in town. I grew up with bears and mountain lions (in the mountains). Still have never seen a mountain lion IRL

@emeraldduchess @gingermama29 I did too and loved it!! We did see it live when the tour came here but was so amazing to see the original cast. I can’t wait to watch it again but trying to hold out until next weekend.
  • @gingermama29 @bows22 I will have to watch it several times to catch everything. You know there are probably a ton of things that are missed the first time around! And can I just say, Christopher Jackson's voice...wow.
DH is not a theatre person at ALL and he enjoyed it. He was cracking me up because he kept google things, like whether or not Hamilton was extorted.
  • @bows22 and @emeraldduchess Leslie Odom Jr could sing me the phone book and I'd melt like butter. His voice is so incredible. Christopher Jackson too. Really there wasn't a voice I didn't love in it. I've seen it live with a touring cast twice but really enjoyed finally seeing the OBC this weekend.
  • @emeraldduchess @bows22 @gingermama29 I watched it too...it was seriously even better than I was expecting!! Agreeing that literally every voice was incredible. I had goosebumps with nearly every song! Now I just want real life to return to normal so that I can see it live.
  • bows22bows22 member
@emeraldduchess when we saw it live, we went to a bar after for drinks and were on Wikipedia the whole time to compare to the “real story” - DH also isn’t into theater that much either but he really enjoyed this too!
  • Me having never seen Hamilton

@inthewoods23 me too, and one of the leads from the original cast went to the elementary school I teach in (I didn't teach him though) so everyone I teach with has seen it too.

@kvh22 FX you find that piece, that would drive me nuts! We have a 1500 Disney villains puzzle in itching to do but it will take over our table for a week I'm sure. What season of Survivor?

Anyone else watch Big Brother (yes I'm embarrassed to ask bc I love it so much)? I keep thinking "we should be watching BB right now" - of all the summer routines that are thrown off bc 2020 that one is getting to me the most and it's making me reevaluate my life choices 🤣
  • kvh22kvh22 member
@inthewoods23 same boat - haven't seen it but would love to (but not enough to pay for Disney+ yet). I figure it'll be there for a while. I'm also not going anywhere anytime soon thanks to Coronavirus :D

@_orchid_ Lol DH is a huge Survivor fan so we've watched all of the seasons with Boston Rob (DH's favorite) which I think was 3 seasons we hadn't seen, then Amber's season (season 2), the season Yul won (Parvati was on that one), and just started the season that Parvati wins (fans vs. favorites I think?). My apologies if you are not as into Survivor as your question made me think and you have no clue what I'm talking about. I've only watched the past 5 or so years (so maybe 10 seasons?). I've never watched Big Brother but my uncle and our family friends watch it so I hear about it at holidays and in the summer when I'm visiting my family. I hadn't even thought about how that wouldn't be going on right now. Survivor just finished airing relatively recently but is filmed in advance, as are so many other shows so we haven't really experienced a drought in much besides sports so far. The survivor finale via video with Jeff Probst set up in his garage was pretty entertaining.

  • @inthewoods23 add me to the “haven’t seen Hamilton” train. I want to, though, just haven’t. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pretty sure my dog gave me a minor concussion today. I was sitting on the bottom step and she got spooked and started bolting upstairs. Except, I was in the way. She rammed head first into the side of my face/temple area and I have a swollen eyebrow, a swollen and bruised cheek, and my head has been pounding ever since, even after taking Tylenol for it. Great start to my week.

@_orchid_ I’ve watched every episode of every season of BB except for the celebrity one last year. We just couldn’t make it through! But I saw today that they are doing it this summer!! Just a little delayed.

@emeraldduchess @bows22 and @gingermama29 I watched it too!!! Twice, so far 😂 and I saw it live on Broadway, but not with the original cast so this was awesome to get to see! @emeraldduchess all of the singing and acting is outstanding but I think Christopher Jackson is my FAVORITE!!! Ugh his voice makes me melt! I told @bluetickgal this earlier, and while the whole show is amazing, there’s one moment towards the end that is the smallest gesture of Eliza holding Alexander’s hand as a sign of forgiveness and my heart drops every single time. Being able to see the raw emotion on their faces is chilling.

  • @kvh22 yes we're survivor fans!! I totally got all of that lol. You're starting a great season! Fans vs favorites was so much fun to watch. We're so interested to see what happens next season - it seems like they'll be in the US. Some of the old seasons are great too but once they started filming in HD it's hard to go back to watching noon-HD. Enjoy this season!!

@bows22 we couldn't finish the celebrity season either! Made it through like 60% and had to stop. I've seen every season except the first and second. Usually the worst part about summer vacation for us is coming back and having hours to catch up on. How do you feel about the casting rumors for this summer? I can't stand Paul and am hoping he's not coming back but have a feeling he was CBS's #1 choice
  • bows22bows22 member
@_orchid_ Not a huge Paul fan either but I think I’ll be so happy for new TV that I won’t care. Josh on the other hand, I may cry if he’s there.

I hadn’t looked at anything yet but just did. I would love for Janelle to be on it but BB is probably a past life for her now!
  • @bows22 same for Josh, and Frankie too. Would love to see Janelle, Britney (I don't think she'd do it now either), Dan, Derrick, or Brett. Looks like August 5 now for start date

  • @krash_ lol oh gosh do I want to type that out.... essentially, someone who had maybe participated a handful of times max and then just stopped posting, comes out of the blue and posts in the monthly grad CHECK-IN of all places at 4 weeks. My message was basically GTFO cuz if you're going to be stupid about it, at least post in the grad announcement thread. It was just a super inappropriate place to post. Also that was shortly after my failed FET at the end of September so I was especially ragey at the time.

I don't recall exactly what triggered the first warning, but both were due to "not allowing others to enjoy use of the site" since my message was along the lines of GTFO of here.
