Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:
    Avocado

    Upcoming appointments:
had my 2nd tri blood draw today, and then next checkup is 6/29

    How are you feeling:
I felt good last week! Worked out a lot, had lots of energy, was productive...then over the weekend all I did was nap and lay on the couch it feels like. Had a killer headache on Friday/Saturday.
Also, my heart palpitations have been hitting me super hard. I think I'll bring them up again at my next appt.

    Rants/Raves:
Rant: These clusters of heart palpitations are driving me crazy. They happened a lot last pregnancy as well, and my Dr never seemed too concerned with them. I had a full cardio work up about 10 years ago because my heart palpitations were a main source of my anxiety/panic attacks. They found nothing wrong with my heart, I guess I'm just more susceptible to them. But they really take over my whole thought process when they keep happening for hours at a time. Plus I feel like they're making me dizzy. I think I'll bring them up.
Rave: I picked up falafel on my way home from my blood draw for lunch and they were sooo good!

    Questions:

GTKY: What did you want to be when you were little?

GTKY: What did you want to be when you were little?  Architect!!  Then I took my first CAD class in high school and was like absolutely not.  Medicine is great, I get to talk to people!
  • @gh1219 I'm dental hygienist so I wanted to chime in on your question! I had this problem with my second pregnancy and it was so hard. It does get better as time goes on, usually when the 2nd trimester is in full swing (so hopefully a few more weeks) that symptom seems to die down. Have you tried an electric toothbrush? They work so much more efficiently so even if you aren't able to brush the full 2 minutes because of gagging you're still getting some good brushing in for the time you can brush. A little salt on the tip of your tongue also helps with the gag reflex.
My only other tidbit is some advice I give to patients that gag during X-rays, and it always seems to help (for some reason, not sure the science behind it). Make a fist with your left hand and tuck your thumb down into your other fingers, it helps negate the gag reflex for over 90% of people so you could try that while brushing with your right hand (hopefully you're right handed lol). Good luck, and just do the best you can!

  • @bearmomma1 absolutely! You can’t go wrong with a Crest Oral-B or Phillips Sonicare. The differences between them are minimal, but I personally use and love the Sonicare. I could go on and on about how great they are, but honestly it is night and day in comparison to a manual toothbrush. I recommend them to patients daily and everyone that has purchased one comes and sees me 6 months later telling me how they wished they switched sooner. I bought my mom one for Christmas and she said the same thing. If you are considering it, 100% go for it!

P.S. you and your husband can just purchase one brush and each have your own toothbrush head that you pop on when you’re ready to use it so you don’t have to buy 2 brushes!
