Upcoming appointments:
I have an US tomorrow. I found out last week that I have pityriasis rosea, a relatively harmless and non contagious rash that is the outward sign of a virus that in one study showed a potential very high risk in pregnancy. I will have more frequent ultrasounds going forward and will meet with a MFM at 20 weeks to monitor further.

How are you feeling?: last week was rough with the pityriasis diagnosis, but I’m much more at peace this week. I have weird random things happen every pregnancy so I’m trying to just set it aside and move forward. I found the baby’s HB on the Doppler this morning which was exciting! My nausea is off and on as is exhaustion, but overall doing ok.

Rants/Raves: can’t think of anything

Questions: anyone else ever have this rash? I had PUPPs with my last two which is awful but very different than this.

How are you feeling?: Overall pretty good. Mainly just nausea, fatigue and bloating. And an occasional headache if I don't drink enough water

Rants/Raves: My son's daycare isn't planning to reopen until the end of the month, so I'm now trying to figure out a schedule to still work and make sure he is taken care of. At least I get to be home more during this trimester and spend some time with just my son.

How are you feeling?: Still really sick and nauseas but zofran is helping some.

Rants/Raves: I am feeling so uncomfortable in my body I had lost 15 lbs more than my current weight this past fall and wanted to lose more before I got pregnant but I ended up gaining 20 after I went of BC and just feel so self conscious and weight conscious.

@HappyFeet34 hope your ultrasound goes well tomorrow! So sorry about the virus and hope it turns out to be just fine and a nonissue with baby and you. How are you holding up knowing all of this? No experience with the rash just psoriasis here. I also had pupps with my first and man did that suck!

@amm126 so sorry about the daycare sitch that sounds so stressful!

@aels12 any foods in particular helping your nausea?

@marynog I wish we were doing the harmony test but DH doesn’t think we should due to the cost and we have no history. I’m hoping we will still do the N/T scan that we did with our other kiddos because I just want the reassurance that everything is looking okay so far.

How are you feeling?: Okay, I've been getting mild headaches but they're manageable. I'm prone to headaches at certain times in my cycle and always imagined/hoped pregnancy hormones would be what gave me a break from them since it's a break from my cycle....but nope.

Rants/Raves: I got panicky/proactive about childcare over the weekend and contacted two places about getting on a waiting list. Our city/state is apparently known as a "childcare desert" but hopefully getting a jump start will help everything work out!

How are you feeling?: So tired and a little nauseous today. Was up at 5:30 for no reason, today is going to drag on.

Rants/Raves: One of my managers keeps saying we are going to be back in the office any time now, while the company as a whole has taken a stance that we won't be back until restrictions have eased significantly in the area. We're just starting to see places open up in the province, but the city I work in is staying where it is until we see cases drop more. I just wish he would stop talking about us going in any time now when there is no reason we should go back in too early. I'm also able to completely work from home with no impact to my job so why the rush? Ugh.

How are you feeling?: Feeling pretty rough... on and off nausea all day... intense exhaustion sets in around 3pm until bedtime. Lots of food aversions to meat. I can hardly even talk about it right now. Lol

Rants/Raves: I’ve decided to just embrace my blump (bloat bump). Even though I know it’s too early to be showing I can’t keep trying to suck in my stomach or hold it in with high wasted pants etc. If I do that I get a crazy stomach ache/ gas issues. Just letting it hang out now and trying to wear dresses more. Good bye pants! Haha

@stillcozy we’re definitely the kind of people that need to know as much as possible. I have a genetic predisposition (though no confirmed family history) to a ton of things, so we want as much information as we can get early on.

I hope you’re able to get the NT ultrasound! At our facility the ultrasound is done at the hospital, so there’s a strong desire to limit contact. I’m not sure whether more of the cost will be covered since we didn’t technically chose to do it, it was the only option given to us during the pandemic. Hopefully we won’t have a large bill coming our way!

@krisspy22 we told our toddler with our last one after the first tri but he was only 18 months then so didn’t really get it. This time we planned to tell them after we get the NIPT results back but my now 3 year old started randomly coming up to me a few days ago pointing at my belly and telling me there’s a baby in there. Sooo I guess he already knows. Seriously, do kids somehow know? It’s so weird, we haven’t said anything and I don’t have an obvious bump or anything.

The ultrasound went really well! Baby was measuring 4 days ahead with a HB of 162. I got to see it moving and dancing around, and even got some video. The rash is already appearing to fade after only a few weeks (it apparently usually takes 2-3 months) so that’s promising. I feel much better now, I would assume if it was going to effect baby it would have by now. I feel a lot of peace that things will be fine, but will still have my AS at the maternal fetal specialist as per my OBs recommendation.

@aels12 our 3-year old is in a big “I/you have a baby in my/your belly.” She doesn’t know about this pregnancy, though, I think she just sees it a lot in books and is really fascinated by babies. We won’t tell her for a while, maybe after we get the NIPT results back.

@krisspy22 With our second, we told our oldest around 8 weeks? I wanted to wait longer but DH blurted it out. I hated telling her that early because it made the wait seem like FOREVER. She basically asked every single day if the baby was ready to come out yet. This time we’re going to wait longer. I’ll probably tell her as close to 20 weeks as I can get without her figuring it out. She is almost 5, so once I start showing she will start asking. DS is only 12 months so he has no idea wtf is going on.
