Upcoming Appointments: 6/24 for anatomy scan (so excited!)
Rant/Rave: Rave: Had a nice weekend with MH and our girls. We had a pool day on Saturday with pizza and family time, which we all really enjoyed. They are teenagers and don't often want to spend time with us anymore so it was really great to get some quality time in. MH even got into the pool which he normally refuses to do.
GTKY: What is the best vacation you've ever been on? My honeymoon would definitely be at the top of the list!! It actually is the only time MH and I have ever taken a vacation that wasn't with family or to see family. It was amazing to just relax together for a week and leave everything else behind.
Baby is the size of: a delicious pomagrenate/croissant
Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy scan on June 15 and tele appointment on June 22
Rant/Rave: Both a rant and a rave - we are starting to move out today! We are taking it slow, our first night in our new place is in 3 weeks, but there is some work to be done and I hate living in boxes so we will do a car trip with some of our stuff every day. It's probably more a rave than a rant because I am still very excited!
GTKY: What is the best vacation you've ever been on? We went to Greece last summer and also got engaged over there. We spent a few days in Athens visiting and then spent a whole week at the beach at the family house in Kalamata. It was the best food we've ever eaten, there was plenty of time for intimacy 😅 and it was overall the perfect balance between a relaxing vacation and an active vacation.
Baby is the size of: an artichoke, weighs as much as a hamster
Upcoming Appointments: AS with MFM this Friday! That came quickly
Rant/Rave: I'm back to my pre-covid schedule and I shouldn't have to work any more Fridays
GTKY: What is the best vacation you've ever been on? DH and I did a 3 week guided tour of Europe after he graduated grad school(London, Paris, Amsterdam, Heidelberg region, Lucerne, Lake Como, Venice and Rome). We had been to a few of the places before separately (study abroad and soccer trip) but it was our first to Europe together. It was busy but a great way to get an overview and plan future trips to specific places.
Upcoming Appointments: June 19th for the anatomy scan
Rant/Rave: Rave: I just found out my sister is pregnant with her rainbow baby!!! 🥰🥰🥰. Rantish (TW maybe?) Our two year old was scheduled for surgery in July which was pushed up unexpectedly to today. It was a cyst removal on her neck. All went well. I am physically and emotionally drained.
GTKY: What is the best vacation you've ever been on? Our family trip to Bali was amazing. The flights from Japan at the time were affordable. We had a sitter (recommended by friends) watch the kids every night for $3/hr. I’m not sure if it was the kid free nights that made it AMAZING or not...Our oldest talks about going back so they had fun too.
Rant/Rave: Our US on Friday went really well! Finally feeling that this baby is going to be sticking around, so I'm getting excited! Also, I had a bag of apples that weren't great for eating as is, so I baked them into a cobbler which turned out delicious.
GTKY: What is the best vacation you've ever been on? Honeymoon! 2-weeks in Hawai'i (Big Island, Maui and Kauai). We were actually planning on going back in August for our 5-year anniversary/babymoon, but had to put that plan on ice because of Covid-19.
@mimser Good luck with the move! @name1109 So glad that your DD's surgery went well! Wishing her a speedy recovery!
Upcoming Appointments: Monday for my AS and Tuesday for my OB check-up
Rant/Rave: Little one is moving like craaaazy and even with my anterior placenta I feel her swimming around in there a lot throughout the day. I am pretty excited for that to get even more consistent the bigger she gets!
GTKY: What is the best vacation you've ever been on? Oh gosh that is hard! I suppose I should say Vegas because that was wedding/honeymoon all in one for me and MH, but I also have LOVED my trips to The Atlantis in the Bahamas and St. John/Thomas USVI!
Rant/Rave: I’m so obsessed with all of these baby kicks! He is a strong little fella already apparently bc I have NEVER felt such strong and frequent kicks this early on. It is the best.
GTKY: What is the best vacation you've ever been on? Our annual week long bday (mine) trip to a little secluded family island in the Bahamas. It is my most favorite place other than home, and I hope to call it home one day!
me 32 | dh 45
married 11.11.17 mama. epicurean. plant lover. wine enthusiast.
Upcoming appointments: Anatomy scan 6/9. Next visit with OB is 6/29
Rant/Rave: My DH and I have an appt Sat 6/6 at a 3D/4D ultrasound place to do a gender determination. While it’s only 3 days before we would normally find out at least this way we are both able to go and find out together which is exciting as being a FTM it’s been hard with my DH unable to accompany me to any visits
GTKY: What is the best vacation I’ve ever been on? We spent a week in Raleigh and drove down to Carolina Beach a few years ago. We’ve discussed moving there in the future after I finish grad school (I’m a public health student). I love it down there and while I’ve been there a few times it was nice to take my DH with me to check it out.
Coming in so late this week! @mimser Yay for moving! That's great that you're giving yourselves so long to do it. Are you loving taking stuff over to your new place? @ksdelong20 A/S today! Omg, so exciting! How did you get yours so early? @name1109 That's great news about your sister! When is she due? Does she live close by? It's exciting that your babies will be so close in age. And yay for successful surgery - how is she recovering? @laurenmicheley Hmmmm, apple cobbler sounds good! @jaclyn0405 Your A/S is so soon too! So exciting! -- Estimated due date (EDD): 11/4
Week of pregnancy: 18w2d
Baby is the size of: seemingly everything this week - NES controller, artichoke, bell pepper, sweet potato and more!
Upcoming Appointments: next week with the midwife and A/S on 6/17!
Rant/Rave: It's the last week of school! This school year has been so weird and stressful, I'm really happy to be done. I just have to get through graduation next week, and I'll be so relieved.
GTKY: What is the best vacation you've ever been on? Eh, we don't really do vacations, and most I have found pretty stressful. The best was when we were in our mid twenties we rented a house on a lake with a bunch of our idiot friends and just swam and got drunk for 3 days. It was the first (and only?) truly relaxing vacation I've ever had.

@hedgepig yes I like bringing stuff to the new place although we are not placing it yet, but it's nice to clear out our old place! I hate cleaning the new place though! We've been scrubbing the kitchen and bathroom all week...
@hedgepig not only do we have the same due date, but my A/S is scheduled on the same day! Estimated due date (EDD): 11/4
Week of pregnancy: 18w2d
Baby is the size of: the weight of a hamster
Upcoming Appointments: a/s and midwife appt on 6/17
Rant/Rave: both a rant and a rave-- went out to get maternity shorts yesterday bc nothing fits anymore! I think I'll be wearing maxi skirts most days because everything else is uncomfortable. Also, I'm stressed out by everything going on lately in the US. Rioting and looting in our state this week. I understand why, but just concerned for the safety of people in the city and my students who are nervous about everything lately.
GTKY: What is the best vacation you've ever been on? A few years ago, we road tripped out from New England to Arizona. I had never left the east coast before then, so my mind was blown by a lot of things. We visited the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and Vegas. Also stopped in Oklahoma along the way to visit a friend and her family.
@mimser Your new place didn't come to you clean? That sucks! @warmwinter Hey there edd and a/s buddy! There's something satisfying about having the 20 week u/s at 20 weeks exactly 😊 I just got my first pairs of maternity shorts too! Everywhere I looked was sold out, but I did find a couple at Target (online) and am happy with them so far.

@hedgepig i don't have a LMP and at my dating US (~8weeks) they found a small cyst near the umbilical cord so I was referred to MFM for the AS. They scheduled it (aim for 19-22 weeks) and I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow (EDD 10/31) based off the dating US.
@hedgepig i am so stupid excited my sister is expecting. She struggles with fertility so this was such welcome news. Pretty much when she found out she lost her last baby we found out we were expecting. It’s been hard but she’s been such an amazing support despite her own pain. She’s due in January. I’m afraid none of my family lives near by 😳🤣. Closest is a 6(?) hour flight away? That’s what it’s been since college for me. I’m building a community where I live now though. It's SO exciting that our babies will be so close in age.
And yay for successful surgery - how is she recovering? Eye roll to that toddler. She thinks I hurt her because I took her bandage off. She has no recollection of surgery. Now to keep her out of sand and water. Then either a hat or suntan lotion for a year to prevent scarring.
I’m not going to lie your vacation sounds like fun.
@name1109 I'm happy for your sister! Hopefully you can still keep in touch with family, at least as much as you'd like, even though they're physically farther away.
@hedgepig I got my shorts from Target too! Ended up getting the longer ones with the over-the-belly support. They're very comfortable so far. I also got a pair of black pants, just in case I ever need to dress formally or for work (if we ever go back to the school building), but I haven't tried them on yet.
Hey, Mamas!! I've missed you all. It was impossible to find the community tab after a Bump update. Ugh! I'm so happy to be back and to hear updates on how you're all doing. So grateful we're in this together.
Estimated due date (EDD): 11/1
Week of pregnancy: 18+6
Baby is the size of: A piece of string cheese (makes this Midwestern mama proud!)
Upcoming Appointments: Midwife on Monday and anatomy scan next Friday (6/12), same as many of you!
Rant/Rave: Anyone else hit hard by nosebleeds or backaches yet? They came out of nowhere this week. I'm constantly congested, it seems. On a much more important note, I'm getting more involved in anti-racist organizing in my community. It's deeply personal to me since my son is biracial. I've got to do my part to make this world a more just, equitable place. And there is no one fiercer on the planet than a mama on a mission!!
GTKY: What is the best vacation you've ever been on? I'm with @hedgepig who finds vacations to be draining (I think it's because I'm an introvert and need lots of quiet, alone time), but I love every minute I spend camping in Joshua Tree National Park. Vietnam and South Korea are tied for second place - the fooood!!
@36anditsmyfirst Amazing! So happy to hear you are standing up to racism! I have a lot of book recommendations (for adults and children) if you are looking.
@name1109 Here are a few I can think of, of hand. They are for various ages! The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats (an absolute classic, and more for inclusion for your littlest child. I LOVE THIS BOOK! Gives me all the nostalgia!), A is for Activist by Innosanto Negara, Malcom Little: The Boy who Grew up to be Malcom X by Ilyasah Shabazz, Not My Idea: A Book About Whiteness by Anastasia Higginbotham (lovely illusstrations, too), Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History by Vashti Harrison, New Kid by Jerry Craft, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas (obviously, for older kids, but so impactful).
@laurenmicheley I'm actually interested in the adult book recommendations @36anditsmyfirst I am biracial myself so baby will have some African heritage and strangely, I feel so clueless on how to approach this as we raise him. Obviously the current situation is raising a lot of questions! Good job on standing up 🤗
@mimser@bserena First place to start is How to be an AntiRacist by Ibram X. Kendi and White Fragility by Robin Diangelo. As a white, Jewish, and extremely privileged woman, these two books were a great foundation to start doing the work to understand and unlearn racism, for me.
Some other books that are wonderful resources are: Black Feminist Thought by Patricia Hill Collins, Heavy: An American Memoir by Kiese Laymon, Me and White Supremacy by Layla F. Saad, and So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oulu. Also, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou (if you haven't already read these two classic pieces of literature). Always open to other recommendations, too.
