@coldbrew@baseballismyfavoriteseason I registered for the K’tan, one for me and one for DH since we are different sizes. But I have a friend who just texted me wondering if I wanted her Tula carrier but I’m pretty set on a wrap. Any thoughts on the Tula that might make change my mind?
@mamahosch I can’t give you any info on that one. I’ve been using the ergobaby Omni 360 with our oldest (even on our vacation in February when he was 14mos) and will use it for baby two when he gets big enough... but I want to try the wrap style for when baby is little. Is she offering to give you the Tula or sell you the Tula? If the former, I am always of the mind to accept free baby gear! Then if I don’t like it, I don’t have guilt over spending money on something else.
This has sent me down a wrap rabbit hole. We were handed down a baby ktan but I didn't use it. If I can find it and it fits, I may try with this baby. But I'm wondering if I should buy a backup. I like the idea of a wrap but it's so intimidating...
I got a moby wrap from my SIL and I had such a hard time with it. DH was able to use it without any complaints, but it made me crazy because I couldn’t figure out how to make it fit well and then my son would be screaming and I’d just give up. I’m thinking of getting something like the baby k’tan this time.
I love the Solly because my baby was born during a heat wave and the Moby was wayyyy too hot. I heard great things about the Tula but I love my Lille as a more structured carrier so I'll just save money and stick with what I have 😄 never heard of the Konny but I'll go research now!
I'm pretty handy with a sewing machine so I'm making myself a wrap for the newborn stages (a friend gifted me some adorable fabric) and then registering for a structured carrier for once their bigger.
@baseballismyfavoriteseason she’s selling it, which I don’t blame her because they run like $175 😳 I probably won’t buy it since I’m not entirely convinced on a structured carrier. She is giving me her Boppy pillow with the extra covers for free though 😄
@mamahosch I have to say I LOVE my Tula. I used a wrap when DS was little and it was great, but it definitely takes a minute to get on and really didn't given me as much support as a structured carrier did. The Tula was super comfortable, easy to adjust for both myself and DH- and my son liked it a lot better than the wraps. I also found mine on clearance at Target for about $60. I'm planning to get another structured carrier (probably a Lillebaby) this time in addition to the Tula.
Agreed with @wineren, @mamahosch. My wrap was great the first two months or so but then baby was too heavy for it to be very supportive after that. I used the tula regularly after that, especially to walk my dog. My dog is pretty well behaved it's hard to walk her and push a stroller at the same time.
The wraps are only good for the first few months, but they’re GREAT if you figure out how to use them. With DD1 my BMB was huge on babywearing and I had an expensive woven wrap instead which I got good enough to wrap her up on my back. I have a Tula for a SSC and love it. It’s not good when they’re tiny though, but once they’re bitter they’re awesome. I prefer to BW on my back over my front though for support reasons. Tula’s are pricey and it’s more so just for the unique prints, so if you want something cheaper Ergo is great too!
wraps really are awesome the first few months. I really want to figure out a sling wrap this time too, H's coworker's wife made us one but I never told the time to figure it out and it never worked well.
I also have an ergo that was a hand me down and it stayed in H's car as a backup from the Lille.
I used my Tula from the beginning with the infant insert and it worked great. It’s kind of pricey for what is basically a little bump of foam but I just never got into wraps.
Have any of you tried the happy baby carrier? I couldn't get ergo to work well for me with ds. We never figured out the Lillie we had borrowed and the k'tan worked 1x. Trying to figure out a different carrier option this time since theyll be about 20 mths apart im sure how I'll do 2 without getting into babywearing.
@jgrodo, I haven’t used it myself by the Happy baby carrier was so popular in my last BMB. I swear around half of the people who came to the Facebook group bought one and they all loved it.

Do kicks/movements tend to happen more often in specific locations, in your experience? Most of the time I feel the Fetal Occupant in my lower left.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
@kboydbowman My little guy is more active down low and center right now, kicking me in the bladder most often. The first time I felt him was kind of right smack in the middle of my belly. It seems to go in phases, and of course it will change as baby grows and changes positions!
Has anyone raised a bilingual or trilingual kid? We are planning on doing 2 languages at home (boyfriend exclusively speaks one and I speak the other one) and then English when going out friends, library story time, daycare...
Boyfriend is trilingual in the 3 languages and I'm fluent/native in 2 and conversational in 1 so I'll be able to understand if the kid decides to use daddy's language more.
@glupglup I'm not but my nephew is trilingual in English, Spanish, and Russian. I think it's amazing and wish I was fluent or even conversational in another language and could do that for my kiddos. We've definitely considered doing one of the immersion schools in our town when DS is old enough. One thing to keep in mind as you're doing it is that babies raised with multiple languages often speak later (from what I've read). It's not a negative thing at all but I know I was all worried about milestones. But seriously, that's awesome!
@glupglup That's awesome! It is easier to learn different languages at a young age. I am currently trying to raise DS as bilingual. He's only 2.5 years old, so it is kind of tough to tell how well it is working so far especially since I don't speak the other language. DH and I speak English around DS; however, my in-laws and the rest of DH's relatives will only speak the other language around DS. My in-laws will soon be watching DS every day when I work, so I'm hoping that he'll make more progress. We also plan to start more formal lessons when he is older, but that will be more for reading and writing the other language.
@glupglup I’ve tried raising DD as bilingual. I was bilingual growing up and husbands parents were adamantly against raising him the same. He hates that he doesn’t know Spanish so technically he’s learning with her. She was doing great until about a year ago she put her foot down. She understands Spanish but refuses to speak it back to us or anyone. She also pretends to not understand but I’ve caught her translating for my friend’s mom who only speaks Spanish when she watches our kiddos during our workouts. Totally doable even if your toddler decides to she doesn’t want to anymore.
For those of you who have PPB bags, do any of you have the Intermix Deluxe Kit? It’s like an organizer tote. My grandma ended up ordering me the Boxy bag for my shower gift and she sent me a video of it (it’s the metallic Mickey print 😍) and they have the intermix kit that has the mini print to match... I was wondering if it’s worth it? I kind of want it for my Medela pump and supplies at work because I saw a photo where they fit. Either that or I would keep it in the car for organization...
@wineren@AB518@babycakesday thanks for the insights! I am (as of now) not worried about baby not speaking soon as long as he's able to communicate his needs somehow and most importantly he can understand.
I have heard of some people giving up on a second and third language and I would hate to waste the opportunity. I have also seen kids that perfectly understand other languages and refuse to speak them unless they really need too (just loke @babycakesday described).
I am a bit more worried about how to identify real issues or delays not linked to the fact that there are more languages to learn but due to an actual problem that could have been caught before if there was only one language.
