Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o 5/11

This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (if you've been):

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):

How are things going?:

Any questions?:

GTKY: what's a positive thing that has happened to you during the quarantine/pandemic?

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o 5/11

  • Hi All, I’m linking a resource here for anyone who is interested in exploring. I am definitely not suggesting that anyone here has these issues. It’s just another path to look into for those of us who are Unexplained.
  • Loading the player...
  • @misshelen86 I trust my doctor and am willing to try it. My mixed emotions really come from being disappointed and a little anxious about going back on BC. I went off it at the end of 2014 so it's been awhile! Sorry there's a delay in waiting for YH's SA. I can imagine that's incredibly frustrating. Your baked goods sound amazing!

@shoogapoff it's been awhile since I was on BC but aside from some weight gain (which could've also been a result of bad eating habits in college) I think I handled it okay. I'm a little anxious about it though. Congrats on the new position! I hope it's a smooth transition! Glad you're getting more quality time with YH too.
  • @misshelen86 The brand I just started getting into is The Ordinary! They have some really great stuff for cheap! Most stuff is maybe $13 or less

@shoogapoff congrats on the new job! I'm also enjoy the extra time with DH. We're both probably going to working from home a bit more once all this is over. Also afternoon romps make for good FW timing haha.

@ramzlau Ugh I'm so sorry your back is hurting! I know it sounds weird, but are you stretching your IT band? It's not the first thing you think, but if your IT band is tight sometimes it pulls all the way to your back! https://belymbr.com/low-back-pain-your-it-band/ I started incorporating IT band stretches and it helped immensely!

@inthewoods23 @misshelen86 I just started using The Ordinary too! I did the AHA BHA peel last night!

@shoogapoff Congrats on the new job!!!

  • @mvt2003 that peel is THE BOMB!! I do it every weekend! I bought that and the niacinamide but I'm not sure the niacinamide is doing anything for me. I have their glycolic acid too but I don't think it does much compared to the Pixi Glow Tonic I originally tried when I started using chemical exfoliants. What's a good TO product for evening skin tone? That's what I really need.

@ramzlau we have our good days and bad days being stuck at home too. Hope we all get a little more freedom soon

@bluetickgal I rarely got lunch with DH when we were both in the office since it's at least 20-25 minutes apart so the lunches at home are definitely nice! DH has taken to having a nap as part of an extended lunch break every day. He says it helps him be even more productive in the afternoons.

@inthewoods23 I have to reorder, but I have been super happy with just the plain old Vitamin C serum I found on Amazon! I use the TruSkin brand, and love it. My big splurge was Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair at Christmas, I used that through my entire stim cycle religiously (with the TruSkin Vitamin C and Tatcha Water Cream moisturizer) and did not have a ton of skin issues.

  • @ramzlau thank you friend 💕. It's definitely bittersweet to be over here. So sorry for the BFN. Being stuck at home for so long makes everything harder. Sending hugs!

@bluetickgal I'm sorry you're already feeling out this cycle. Sending positive thoughts your way and crossing fingers for you. That's awesome that you and YH have gotten so much extra time together and daily lunch dates.
  • @misshelen86 I'm so sorry you're still in the waiting game. I feel like the pandemic has just added insult to injury with infertility. Like, we already had this sense of no control over our bodies and then this just put another layer of that on top! Hopefully YH can get in for his testing soon. You're right to feel like that should be something they could get back to.
@kpearse99 I'm glad you're feeling optimistic. :) And I agree that the slower pace of life has been nice. My hour long commute each way to work was just such a beat-down, and while that went away with my transition to my new job, it was nice for traffic to be much less for my last few weeks at my old job.
@bluetickgal I'm sorry you're not feeling good about your IUI. But I am so glad that you were able to have it done, and I am hopeful for you! I think you're in that phase of the TWW where I also get pretty pessimistic. So it's normal. But I am crossing everything that this is it for you!
@ramzlau Yay! So glad you're getting started with your RE. Keep us updated!

  • @inthewoods23 @misshelen86 @mvt2003 OMG, I think we need to have a skincare side-bar, because I need all the recommendations I can get! I used to poke around a lot on the skincareaddict subreddit, but it's mostly people dealing with acne, and I am wanting help with anti-aging etc. I have a few things from The Ordinary. I wanted to try the peel, so I might just bite the bullet and order it. I just get a little overwhelmed with all of the options! Gotta love their pricing, though!
  • @emeraldduchess sorry your BBT is causing frustration and anxiety. I'm glad you and YH are getting so much time together through this though!

@kpearse99 thank you friend 💕. Your TTC plan sounds good! I'm glad you're feeling optimistic about things.
  • @ramzlau yay I'm so happy to see more people beginning to start treatment again!

@emeraldduchess sorry your BBT has been dumb. Hopefully you just missed a positive OPK because of the time you took the tests. I expect to see lots of cool stuff from you in the crafting thread with those new crochet stitches! I really need to pick that back up and learn it. My grandma had gifted me some yarn and a beginners kit with a book and a partially started scarf to get me going... and then one day I decided I wanted to start fresh and unraveled the whole thing  :#

@kpearse99 I wish my life had a slower pace! Work is making that hard. I definitely feel I have more time for things now though and it's so nice. Sounds like you and I are thinking the same with giving ourselves the summer to try on our own. The pandemic sucks, but I do appreciate the break it has given us, especially in financial terms. I'm actually not better about my routine (I barely "take it off" at night still, whoops), but I am using products better suited to my skin! I just want to go out without feeling I need foundation on!

@shoogapoff I'm in The Skincare Connection FB group and that's what got me started on using chemical exfoliants and CeraVe products. I took the plunge on buying some of The Ordinary products after I got hooked on watching Skincare by Hyram on YouTube. I don't know what lead me to his channel, but I really like it! I was definitely overwhelmed at their options too. So many items with some seeming like they do the same things so of course which is best for me?! Maybe tomorrow we can set up a GTKY of our favorite skincare products and even give some product recs!

  • @bluetickgal we also have this ritual that after a meal he puts his head in my lap/on my leg as we continue to watch the TV. Currently we have most of our meals at the coffee table on the floor so it's easy for him to do. So he does the lap thing then curls up under a blanket with a pillow on the floor.

@mvt2003 Love your approach to “that’s a next week problem”. Hey, all things in moderation! Baby steps!😄

@gingermama29 FX the BC gets the job done!! Your hesitancy is totally understandable. If I were in your shoes I’d approach it as, I will try BC for these 3 months, then try naturally for 3 months after that, but if not successful then skip the plan for BC for the next 3 months & go straight to medicated cycles. Just my opinion that you did not ask for.😉

@inthewoods23 Woohoo for a blazing OPK! (Your update in the dailies.) That BBT article you mentioned sounds like the lady is just  practicing a basic FAM method? If only that were our problem...Yay for not needing makeup! #wokeuplikethis😊

@misshelen86 Sorry for the delay on YH’s SA—beyond annoying!!! And Ooooh, please share the GF cookie recipe! (Should I check the baking/craft thread?)

@shoogapoff Congrats on the new gig!! You made it happen. Hope it all starts to settle down soon. We are here whenever you have time to check in, no stress.

@ramzlau Sorry for the bfn, & that  it’s been a rough few weeks. Good for you for getting back into running. Hopefully your back heals quickly so the exercise can help you shake off some of the tension of recent times. Hooray for treatments starting back up for you!

@bluetickgal Try to think positively about implantation. Hopefully the nice weather will boost your spirits.

@emeraldduchess Sorry for the unclear bbt readings. That is frustrating. But yay for new crochet stitches to keep you occupied/ease anxiety with its soothing effect.

@kpearse99 Glad to hear you’re feeling optimistic about trying again, & just finding the positives in general during this crazy pandemic.

    *Edited to add spacing.

@keikilove I had heard about them finding covid DNA in sperm samples for some males, but not that clinics would want to screen for that. Then again, I'm not working with my RE at the moment. What happens if they find covid?? Tell you sorry, tough luck no treatment this cycle??

ETA: forgot I was going to add another comment... I realized if I ovulate in the next day or 2.... AF is going to be due right around my failed FETs due date and I'm not sure if I should be hopeful or sad about that. I would be pretty sweet to test and get a positive on such a significant date. For now though, I need to focus on HIO!

I wonder if they will test at the start of the cycle so they know if they should cancel the treatment or not and right before the procedure to make sure they're not using infected sperm. If they did I wonder what would happen.

@mvt2003 haha your gif. Somehow I've been reminded of your description of the time they tested you for the flu some months ago. I think the covid test is the same where they shove a swab up to your brain  :#  enjoy!  :D

@inthewoods23 yeppppp :# I'm only slightly comforted by the fact that my most recent flu test was much better than my first flu test, and I attribute it to my medical pain tolerance level being increased thanks to IF :D:D:D

  • @inthewoods23 I agree 100% on really appreciating the "break" that this pandemic has caused us to have. It really is a blessing in disguise, and one I think we all really needed.

    @bluetickgal Thanks, friend!! <3<3<3

@keikilove I am so sorry :( I hate that your eternal optimism is being challenged these days. But, I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.... even though we may not know or understand that reason at this time. I know that doesn't help much, but try and focus on that thought instead of focusing on the thought of the delays. You WILL be able to start treatment back up. Also, AMAZING job on losing weight!!! I am very proud of you, friend!!!

  • @keikilove It's so hard to watch time pass by during all of this. Time is such a precious commodity in the IF world. I definitely feel it too. But I am hoping that, just like @kpearse99 said, this is just leading up to the right timing for you to get your BFP! That's awesome about the weight loss. Not an easy thing to do under any circumstances.
  • @keikilove thanks, friend! I’m so sorry you feel blah about all this and that your upcoming birthday isn’t helping! Sending hugs & positive vibes your way! 💜 I hope you have a good Birthday and don’t let the thought of time passing get to you too much!! I definitely feel like your time is coming!! That doesn’t seem right that your clinic is starting to see new patients before the established ones! I’m crossing everything that you will be able to have your ER in June though!! My clinic didn’t test MH’s sperm for Covid for the IUI last week, so I’m guessing that’s not something they are doing at all. Although it seems like my clinic is very minimalistic with their treatments, which has me wondering a bit...
@pom9207 thanks lady! I’m glad they figured out what the infection was so you can get the correct meds now! Yay for a good lining and transfer set for the end of the month! Fingers crossed so hard for you!
  • @manillabar thanks lady, I really do appreciate everyone’s optimism! ☺️ Yay, hope those follies keep growing and you get a good update tomorrow!
@ramzlau glad your consult went well today and you feel good about the plan and your chances! Fingers crossed one of those IUI’s lines up perfectly with a great egg!!
