@catana15 Literally no reason they shouldn't have a better system in place by now. I'm surprised everyone wasn't required to wear masks, especially if they were hacking all over the place. They shouldn't have had expectant mothers in that kind of environment, and it's for sure worth a complaint to the office. I'm sorry!
@catana15 I could cry for you. That’s so awful! I would’ve said something straight away and waited outside/in my car! What a scary situation to be in. I’m putting off my GD test in fear of being exposed. I have heard from other ladies who go to the same lab I’ll be going too, that they do allow us to sit in our car. I’m just afraid if I start to feel sick or faint. I have no idea what to expect and I’m trying to muster up the courage to just go and get it done. ((Hugs to you))
Had to leave work early yesterday because little dude wasn't moving all day. He has been moving like clockwork for weeks but nothing yesterday so they had me come in for a check. Everything was fine they said he was probably just doing a lot of growing and sleeping more as a result. Movement is back to normal this morning so I'm not worried it was just weird to make it to 9am and have zero movement even after coffee a muffin and 40 oz of ice cold water which normally gets him going crazy.
@charhar0820 Ugh. I can't stand the GD screening. I have never had an issue, so I just drink the chemical cocktail for no reason. The first time it made me so sick, and ever since that experience, I dread it every pregnancy. I had to do it twice last time, because I was bouncing between doctor's offices, and the initial test was given too early.
@catana15 I'm sorry that was your experience and that they didn't have a better set up. That seems extremely inappropriate to not have a better system to protect patients. @mrswheeler812 I'm glad everything is okay! I'm going through similar anxiety as I've felt less movement the last few days as well. I still am experiencing occasional flutters or movements, but I felt like it's definitely less than what it had been. I keep telling myself that the baby has just repositioned in a way that's making the movements less apparent. My appointment is not until next Wednesday, and I'm trying to hold off until then, but each day I consider calling to see if I can come in earlier.
@catana15 I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I agree that you should absolutely call you dr and complain. Try to take the next few days easy. Hugs
@charhar0820 That's great that you can wait in your car. Any chance you SO can come with you in case you feel ill?
@mrswheeler812 Glad everything is okay with baby boy. That must have been frightening.

Thanks @lachnessmomster passed. Barely! 1 of the readings was above and the rest were high but under the cutoff so they said nope. I forgot my book at home so was so bored!

@coldlife2 Seriously!? I've always felt like I'd be branded with a black mark if I even mentioned a desire to skip it. I figured I'd get the, "But it's for the good of you and your baby," lecture and have always just complied. 😬
@whl1013 You can always call and ask for a nurse visit that's what I had and then I still have my normal appointment in a few weeks. Its a quick check in and they can do the heart Doppler to find baby and they have a few tricks to see if they can get baby to respond. They have a little buzzer that makes noises to startle baby into moving. My son just burrowed further from the Doppler but we could tell he was moving thank goodness. She said 24 weeks is a normal time for less movement because they are doing a lot of growing. If you are worried just call, no harm done.

You might. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I think that would depend on your practice and your providers. I've definitely considered skipping it, but so far, I haven't. My birth practice is definitely more relaxed with the attitude of "these are the risks that go alone with that choice. We just want to make sure you're fully informed. Ok, next."
@lachnessmomster you can ask for an alternative option too. I know some have done the finger prick testing for a week and sent the record to their doctor as a way to test GD instead of the drink. I know another person who got approval from their doctor to eat skittles before the test instead of the drink. I cannot do the drink this time around so they are doing extra A1C checks during each trimester bloodwork this pregnancy since I had GD with DS1. So there is alternative options out there.
Good appointment today, got the full report from the anatomy scan since we had to do it in two sittings and baby girl looks great, no markers for anything to be concerned about at all, no reason to think I have anything other than a happy healthy little girl in there. They told me if I ever started to feel like I was really having to gasp for air, to give them a call just to check in, but for now to not be too worried about it. They are happy with the weight gain and told me they would do the GD test at my next appointment at the end of May. They told me at this time to expect that I'll either be sat in an exam room isolated for the whole hour, or be sent to my car to wait. I'm glad I don't have to fast.

Since I'm in GA and they are opening everything back up I asked them what they considered safe, especially since my child's Karate instructor is hoping to have the studio open in a couple of weeks. I was told that while I wasn't at more risk of catching Covid-19 their biggest concern would be if I do catch it going into early labor at this point. Their suggestion was that our whole family continue to operate as if we are under shelter in place and continue to avoid large groups of people. They also said I should feel free to call them with questions and concerns as things develop and they would be happy to give their best advice at the time given what they know. I kind of expected that answer, but when I inevitably end up calling to cancel my kid's enrollment I kind of wanted to be able to say, "Also my doctor said this is best for my family." Her teacher is of the mindset that the whole world is living in fear and is over-blowing this. He's in general not a very politically correct person and doesn't really hesitate to step on toes.
