My world is currently kid-related chaos. My house is constantly just as wrecked as my sanity. Y'all know what I miss? The playground. Just being able to take my kids to the playground for a break from the house and a way for my little monsters to burn some of their bottomless energy.
Woke up feeling on the brink of tears today. I think it's just the Monday Blues, I'm never ready for the Monday cycle to begin at this point since there's not really a solid way to break up the week. I found some peace over the weekend and I miss it already. I got some weird news this weekend about family I am estranged from (and I'm the one who estranged them, and it was done for really good reason) and I'm still kind of processing that a bit too I think. I'm hoping that maybe in a bit the child will decide she'd like to play some cards or focus on a game together, right now she's very deep into coloring and I don't want to pull her away from it.
If anyone is looking for previous product spotlights, the links are all listed nicely in the spreadsheet in the *Board Org* stickied thread. I don't know who has been saving the links there but they are a God-send.

I'm back to work today. It's the first time in 5 weeks that I'm not staying in sweatpants for most of the morning. I actually put on real clothes and did my makeup. I'm not seeing any clients today (need to call and schedule everyone) but I need to play around with my webcam and make sure I look somewhat presentable and that the lighting in my room is good enough for all of these appointments. I'm happy to be back at work getting a steady paycheck and I'm looking forward to seeing my students, but I am not excited to do teletherapy with preschoolers and toddlers. These next 9 weeks of the school year are going to drag on forever.
I am super excited for DDs new toddler mattress to come in today! The rest of the crib won't be here till later this week, (and that reminds me, I think I need to call about the rail) but I'm hoping since it's supposed to be a nice natural material one, that it shouldn't need to really off-gas too much, either. I'd love to have her on the bigger floor bed for a night or two before we give her her new big girl bed!
We're also going to have to take some measurements and figure out floor coverings i.e play mats for a new family room, and maybe a rug for the top of the stairs, which should be fun...
I know it's been a pain for everybody with all these delays in shipping. I hope everybody's got things are excited about around the house stuff starting to happen, too... 🤗 So far, in terms of rearranging the family room, we haven't had to spend anything, except DH had to buy an inexpensive new light fixture, because the other one was just garbage, which I know he's not happy about! Lol
@wednesdaygirl1019 Nice work, woman! I am still trying to get myself into real clothes - makeup is next level! To be fair, DH has been working on the bathroom lights, so I haven't been able to get in there. :/. I'm sure your kids will be happy to see you!
@ziggymama06 oh, that's wonderful! I wasn't sure if we had gotten that far in our board organization, but that is truly amazing! 😁
@RedBaramid oof, I'm sorry for the weird family news. I hope you're able to get back to that happy, peaceful place again. ((((Hugs)))) coloring sounds wonderful tho! I have been wanting to look for a little craft project or something to do with DD.... Maybe that will be my push. ;)
@lachnessmomster playground sounds amazing right now.... We are going to try and get out in the side yard to pick some more fiddleheads before the rain comes. Do you guys have any garden space the kids can poke around in?
@BusinessWife That is so exciting!! Let us know how YD likes her new bed!
@RedBaramid I'm sorry you're having a rough day. I feel ya. Mondays are the worst and I always get the Sunday night blues. Times are strange now and the anxiety comes in waves. Hang in there. Hoping the coloring helps you too
Exciting news... Our realtor sent us a sneak-peek for a house coming on the market tomorrow. Guys, it's legit perfect! We are going to see it tomorrow and are able to be the first ones in to limit exposure. I'm feeling a little nuts doing so in the current climate, but its mandatory to wear mask, gloves, and booties for our protection as well as the seller. They are also having potential buyers and sellers sign something stating that they have no covid symptoms. I realize people can be asymptomatic or lie, but at least it's something. If we are going to move it really needs to be soon, or we will be here for another year or so... which we have the space. I just don't want to have to continue to commute an hr each way to work once baby is here.
We decided not to go to BBB over the weekend as the registry is almost complete. I'd like to test out a rocker/glider but honestly don't want to sit in them now to test anyways. We will need to just read reviews and purchase blindly! We've been very spoiled in that our only outings have been to the dr (with hubs waiting in the car). We get groceries delivered, so I didn't want to risk exposure for something that I can do online. Even though I really wanted to walk around with that little gun! Our bridal registry was a honeyfund, so we never got to use the gun then either. Oh well.

@ziggymama06 that is awesome about the house! It sounds like people are being as careful as they can be, I would try not to worry too much past that. As strange as it is, I'm sure it could really be a blessing for you both (seller included) to be able to work something out during such uncertain times. FWIW, I purchased my rocker blindly and it was fine. I went sitting on chairs and fell in love with what would have been like a $1600 or so (maybe more, I can't remember) custom chair... 🤦 Needless to say, we did not go that route lol
@ziggymama06 I’m going to order everything for the nursery blindly this week too 😬😬 I’m nervous, but things seem like things I order won’t be in until mid-June as it is, so I’m afraid of waiting much longer
I had a very vivid dream the other night that there was a girl talking and said her birthday was August 10- I remembered the date when I woke up and now wonder if that will be her birthday. I’m due the 16th so it’s possible? I’m putting it here in writing for bump history!!
@lachnessmomster YES! I miss the playground and the zoo and just anything to mix life up over here! Good luck with the chaos at home. I am over here in solidarity.
@wednesdaygirl1019 Good luck! I am doing reading interventions with elementary kids while the school buildings are closed. I haven't had the opportunity to work with kindergarten and first grade yet, so you'll have to tell me how it goes!
@RedBaramid I hope your day improves 🙂 Mondays truly are tough especially right now.
@ziggymama06 So exciting about the house!!! I think I remember you saying that you and your husband are going to fix it up? My husband and I are really into home renovation and I cannot wait to live vicariously through you since we have no plans to buy a new house soon. Keep us posted on how the walk through goes!
@MrsWheeler I now also have Cheetos on the brain. 🤤
Chiming in with the Monday blues. The weekend was great and relaxing - but starting my work week after a rough night with not more then 4 hours of sleep didn't had me in the most motivated place. But I feel I am coming along - especially with the sun being outside.
My coupon for 40% off two nursing bras or camis from my Target registry bag expires the same day as my GD test appointment. So I think I just figured out what I'm going to do for the wait between the blood draws! Hopefull, I don't feel too terrible (I usually feel a little sick after), and hpefully, I can find some I like. I have such a hard time finding bras that are underwire and don't have thick foam.
I'm actually doing research on bra sewing and considering making some of my own (nursing and non) going forward. I'm always so disappointed in commercially-made offerings because we have VASTLY different opinions on what constitutes "thin" foam. A molded cup is not "thin," period, end of story.
It took until about 3pm today, but I'm finally shaking the slump off. Kid basically NEVER stopped coloring today, I offered all matter of games to her because I was kind of bored and the chores that needed done where not things I could do while DH was on conference calls on and off all day... I ended up vegging on the couch next to the kid watching old movies. It was actually kind of nice. She would occasionally pause to watch and ask questions, I got some intermittent snuggling. During a brief break in conference calls at 3:15 my husband was able to let me hop on the stationary bike for a half hour so I could at least get some movement in, and though now I'm a little sweaty and gross I feel a lot better having moved around some. I'm gonna hold out hope that maybe we can sit down as a family tonight and work on a puzzle or a game the three of us once the work day ends.
We've also been looking at starting to shift around furniture and make space for the baby stuff we'll order in another month or so. I'm getting antsy to buy a rocker/recliner and move out the couch we are getting rid of, but I know that's going to be a little tricky right now. I'm really feeling how small our apartment is, I know we'll be fine and that once things get shifted things will be great, but I just really feel it as I'm looking around and making plans.
@coldlife2 I converted some bras to nursing bras last time. I'm
blessed/cursed with a very large bust so with nursing I was huge and only had a
choice of 3 bras anyway. I got a kit on etsy UK but there were quite a lot of
options from small sellers so I'm sure you'll be able to find one. It didn’t
take long and its' held up well through lots of washes. I would get your bra
first in black, white or beige and then get the kit so you can make sure the
clips are the right size for your straps.
Ugh, and of course, they've closed their fitting rooms. Never mind then.
@cornichonmam, I've thought about that. But, I don't necessarily have regular ones I like. The ones I liked are no longer made. They're still made in non-wired, but not wired. *eyeroll* So all of my regular bras are super worn out, and I've just put off replacing them. I just had an underwire pop out on one side yesterday, and I've already fixed the other side when it happened a few months ago!
@lachnessmomster We are missing playgrounds over here too! I’m sorry you’re struggling with the kid chaos.
@BusinessWife It’s exciting that your space is starting to come together! I hope your daughter enjoys her big girl bed!
@RedBaramid I’m glad you were able to shake the blues and get on the bike today. Since lockdown started my bad days seem to come towards the end of the week. I think I just crash from all of the stress and anxiety that builds up over the week, and I actually feel better on Mondays when it feels like I can have a fresh start.
@ziggymama06 So excited for you to see the house! It sounds like you’re doing it as safely as you possibly can, so try to just enjoy it!
@lachnessmomster I feel this so hard. Our neighborhood loop takes us right by our park, and yesterday for the first time DS saw the swings and lost his mind. Just sobbing as I carried him a full block away and even then kept trying to run back. Broke my heart.
@ziggymama06 The product spotlight thing is my job to update, and I definitely get behind now and then so always feel free to tag me and yell, "keep up!" Fingers crossed so hard for this house -- please report back!
@RedBaramid While I'm sure it got old, a whole day of focused attention on coloring sounds dreamy. I'll hope she repeats tomorrow and you can continue your movie marathon.
Maybe more for the covid thread, but Texas is apparently now fully on the opening up train, starting this Friday. I'm so disappointed but already crossing over into resigned territory. I guess DH and I now need to have that conversation about whether we're going to send DS back to daycare or do this work+childcare tradeoff thing indefinitely. We've been watching all the stats waiting for the magic number where it would feel safe to send him back into the world, but with the stay at home lifted I don't see cases falling more for a long time yet.
Totally been in a funk all Monday. Hoping for a better day tomorrow. I have 2 appointments, one follow up anatomy ultrasound, so fingers crossed all is well.
@cornichonmam I'm totally going to try to convert some of my bras this time. Thanks for the etsy tip. I bought two super comfy Wacoal bras last pregnancy and I'm wearing them again now. They are 3 sizes larger than my regular bras though so I'm totally going to try and convert them so I can wear them while nursing.
@riatortillaxo What a great memory you have! MH and I were looking for a fixer upper, but this house is actually move-in ready with some minor projects we can do down the road when we want! I feel better about that at this point with the baby coming in a few months, ah!
@emiliadkay I thought it may have been you updated the sheet. Thank you for doing that, so freaking helpful!! I tried to update the recent spotlight links, but I don't have access and figured it, oh well lol. I really cannot believe that TX is opening everything up all at once. I'm sorry that you have to deal with all of that. Does this mean you and YH offices are opening up as well?

Okay, so I am super glad they posted the Disney singalong they aired on TV to Disney + because DD and I have been really enjoying that this morning. I've been able to be super productive in getting chores done while she's been singing and dancing along in the living room and I'm able to singalong with her.
Also, anyone have experience with ordering from Wayfair? We have a friend who works for Wayfair, and I don't really wanna ask him what his opinion is because they pay his bills... We found a recliner we really kind of like and the price seems right.. but I've never ordered something like this online before so I'm leery of pulling the trigger.. (and yet I ordered a purple mattress in November and love that thing so I dunno maybe I shouldn't be so leery?)
@RedBaramid we ordered an office chair from there when we realized we would both be working from home for the foreseeable future and needed another one. It came quickly (at that time, probably before the major delays started so not sure about how...) we ended up returning it because my dad was able to bring us a nicer extra one he had around the house. Had to pay the return shipping which was kinda pricey since it was heavy, but since I’ve been looking at nursery furniture it doesn’t seem that unusual for furniture. I’d feel fine ordering from it if the reviews for the product seem good!
@BusinessWife Did y'all get a good amount of fiddleheads? That sounds so fun! We have a few wooded areas on-post that we escape to quite a bit. We went yesterday, and I didn't even try to hike with the kids. I just messed around with my camera and let them wander and hit things with sticks. Lol. It's nice to take them somewhere I don't have to say, "No, no!" every thirty seconds.
@riatortillaxo Ugh. I would give anything to go to the zoo right now. One of my favorite warm weather activities!
@gomillis Thanks, girl. It's been hard keeping kids quiet while DH tries to work, finding things to do when it's rainy, and keeping my own sanity throughout everything. I know everyone has their own hardships, though! Such strange territory we're navigating. Just getting a coffee and browsing Target would be like a vacation right now!
@emiliadkay Oh, man. That's rough. We have a million playgrounds in our area as well, one of which is just at the top of a hill that overlooks our house. They're all closed off with caution tape, and luckily DS understands that there's a virus going around and that's why we can't go. If I couldn't explain at least that part to him, it would be heartbreaking.
@RedBaramid I just ordered a rug from Wayfair, it should be here Thursday. I know @strawberryfields82 posted in the nursery progress group, a pic that had a rocker in it she ordered from Wayfair!
*edit* Update my rug i ordered yesterday from Wayfair, just arrived lol that was Fast!
@lachnessmomster yes! We did actually! I may go back out again tomorrow and keep working my way around the house; there're a lot available without overharvesting. Glad you guys got out to the woods to explore! Picking the fiddleheads with DD was actually kind of a bust because she won't listen enough yet to stay close by me and I can't exactly let her run off near the street while my face is in the ground. :/ But I'm sure it'll be more fun next year as she's a little older :)
@RedBaramid I have ordered a handful of pieces from Wayfair over the years, and always had good luck! We just now got DD's big girl crib / toddler bed from there, mattress, and toddler pillow + cases. Our bed frame and big six-drawer changing dresser came from there, as well. The shipping time really hasn't been bad, but I feel like it can vary a little bit from one day to the next tho lately. The home delivery service for the mattress was excellent; they even called when they were 15 minutes away. For the crib, I placed my order Friday and it was delivered today!
emiliadkay I'm sorry to hear that about Texas. I was just speaking to my husband about what we are going to do with our daughter. I see myself working from home until I deliver. We are not paying for daycare as long as the schools are closed/our governor says that they are to closed. In my perfect world we will be home with me until either my maternity leave is over and/or there is a major shift in this virus, because it's not going away anytime soon, imo. I told my husband and if she can stay home with me then she is. I would be so upset with myself with she or one of us got sick because we sent her back to daycare when she could have been home the whole time. I haven't checked the COVID thread at all because my anxiety cannot handle it. At some point we are going to have to pay the two week cancellation fee at some point, but I'm holding off pulling in case you never have to make the choice our-self.
@ziggymama06 I would our glider without testing it and I bought it from someone on-line used. It was great. The only thing I wished it had was pockets.

@RedBaramid I have ordered in the past and pretty recently from Wayfair. It think they can be hit and miss a little bit but if you pay attention to the reviews, you can get pretty good deals and products. I ordered furniture and rugs before.
In the last few weeks I ordered a rocking chair and a changing table. Both of them arrived within just a few days.
Sorry I was MIA all last week. I explained in the appointment thread. All kinds of negative feelings.
On a positive note, I just had the best salad from this teriyaki restaurant. Also, almost all of my Old Navy order got here last week. There is just one shirt that wasn't included that will be here on Friday. I am so excited after trying everything on, the clothes make me finally feel like I've got a bump and look pregnant not chubby. We also got our Chicco Bravo travel system last week. I'm trying to wait on ordering her crib because I hate paying sales tax on orders and I usually get around that by sending it to my work. So, we'll see if waiting will be realistic depending on if I end up going back to work before she's born.
I've been MIA. I was still recovering from being sick and spring break when I disappeared right as Covid became real here.
I've been really busy trying to homeschool my prek kid and 7th grader. Its been hard and I'm really struggling.
Just as we got into a groove my aunt passed away last friday from a freak car accident. I can't attend her funeral since its in wv amd funeral homes are only allowing 6 immediate family members to attend.
I hope you are all well and I plan tontry to catch up on post and be active again.

@psychobutthead I'm so sorry for your loss. These are such tough times. I have been thinking of you recently. Glad to hear you are doing okay. We are here for you ♥️
@psychobutthead I've been thinking of you here and there as I haven't seen your name pop up lately. I'm so sorry for the loss of your aunt. I hadn't considered funerals and how all this madness was affecting the grieving process and the amount of people who could be in attendance. How heartbreaking. You'll continue to be in my thoughts.
@psychobutthead I am so very sorry for your loss and I can't imagine how hard it is to loose someone during this time. thinking of you and your family.
