@raesky1111 what a sweet gift! My aunt made me a quilt too for my first son! It was so pretty! I used it on the back of the recliner and then used it on the floor for tummy time and playing.
You guys make good points about it getting ruined by spit up or blowouts, even better points with the safety concerns. As much as I want her to be able to love her blankie from the start, it'll be better to have it for decor until she's old enough to actually use it.
@momofmiracles31889 definitely!! They look comfy for lounging but like you said I don’t really see a point in it especially since it’s so expensive. I can get a Boppy newborn lounger for $35 lol so much baby stuff is crazy $$ and people get it because they think it’s a must have.
@raesky1111 that’s a super sweet gift! I think she will still love her blankie even if she’s not sleeping with it right away. I would definitely suggest all the great uses PPs have said! Also maybe you can use it as the backdrop for her milestone photos if you won’t have another blanket? I’m sure the quilt will get a lot of love once she can carry it around and snuggle with it when it’s safe 🤍
@greyl I completely agree! I put a boppy lounger on my list too bc it’s soo much cheaper and since it’ll only be used for occasional awake lounging why spend a fortune! We learned with DS how little you really NEED bc we had to borrow a lot at first since we had so little time to prepare, didn’t have a shower until much later etc
@momofmiracles31889 for sure!! I really hope we use every thing we get. H doesn’t want me adding anything superfluous to ours so I’m really trying to narrow it down to what I think we will use and nothing that’s insanely expensive.
I'm late to this game. But this topic has been on my mind so much this time around.
We have moved since our other children were babies. We now live in a 2 story house. I don't do nurseries so baby will be in our room with no real plan of kicking him/her out until they are ready.
I homeschool our older children so I'm thinking a pack n play for downstairs. We've never had a pack n play before but again, we never had a two-story home in the past. --- Would love thoughts on this!
For our bedroom - we usually bedshare. From reading everyone else's comments I know we are in the minority & I'm okay with that However, I found this bassinet/bedside sleeper and would love to get it!
@pai314 I watch my nieces at their house during the week so an extra sleep surface in an accessible area is needed. My plan is to buy an extra bassinet for him to sleep in I’m not positive on where I will put it yet. I like the idea of being able to move him easy if the older kids are being too loud. Their house is two story and they do have a guest room my oldest uses so it’s possible I’ll use that space for this one too.
We use a pack and play for diaper changes in the main living area so I would totally recommend that! Then you could use the sleep part for naps for baby when doing work with your older kiddos. Other than that I used a bouncer and play mat a lot when my son was young and I’d have to entertain my older niece. As a side note my son and younger niece are 6 weeks apart so bouncers/play mats were a must to keep them busy while the older niece needed some one on one time.
@pai314 We’ve only just started moving 2.5 to his own room and really only because he overheats when he sleeps and sleeps better on his own now that he’s been weaned for a few months. This babe will probably be the same and I’m ok with that. Bed sharing just plain makes sense to me especially when you are breastfeeding.
@beaandthebabes Yes! I totally get it doesn't work/isn't for everyone but for my family it is.
I love that bassinet too. I definitely want that one or the one I posted. With DD1 we had the arm's reach co-sleeper and got no use of it. I didn't like how it lined up with our bed and it was HUGE! I love the look of these two so much more!
I saw someone got that one for a steal on ebay (may have been you, I don't recall and I'm too lazy to look back through) so I keep looking for either of them and hoping maybe by July/August I'll find a good deal. If not, I'll make the splurge!
How about the Newton breatheable/washable Mattress? Anyone use one before? It looks awesome; it’s also $300 and I already own a Crib mattress so it’s not a necessity, but boy does it look nice!
