I found out I was pregnant yesterday and am excited / bit nervous. I did one of those Sainsbury's tests the day before and it was really faint and I couldn't tell if it was an evaporation line or not.
So I did a clear blue digital, which was so much easier to read, and here we are! My bf was v shocked but vv pleased 😊
Am dedicated to making my body a temple and learning to drink almost zero coffee (may have one every now and again for a treat)
Re: Is anyone having their first child in December?
I am switching to 1-2 cups of decaf a day, but I can't cut out coffee all together!
I'm curious how some of you are getting your HCG levels (are they called Betas?) Is that something your doctor does? Mine doesn't want me to come in until I'm 10 weeks along. Is there a home testing kit you buy? I'd love to know.
I'm also trying to eat very clean and do everything by the book - not cutting out coffee completely, but sticking to a max of 200mg - only 1 cup of coffee a day in the mornings, and maybe a soda or latte in the afternoon if I need it.
I have noticed that I don't really have much of an appetite lately (which isn't normal) and I'm extremely thirsty all of the time, but otherwise haven't noticed any common symptoms.
I always said I hope I don't have a baby around the holidays but now I don't care lol my husband, mom, and a cousin all have birthdays around that time and all vent that their birthdays were overshadowed by the holidays. I am just so excited to be pregnant and didn't think it would happen this quickly so I will take anything! This past Christmas we were bored and I told my husband it made me realize more that I am ready to have kids, so I am excited to have a little babe this Christmas! It is my favorite holiday and it makes things so much more special.
I know it's super early but... most of my friends have toddlers and are starting to get rid of baby stuff, so I feel like I need to strike while the iron is hot. One friend gave me her crib back in December so I have that. She needed it out of her house. Same friend is saving me her breast pump that she used just once and a bunch of clothes. Another friend (who doesn't know I'm pregnant but knows I've been trying) has dropped off a big bin of cloth diapers and newborn clothes. Then today, I just picked up a free changing table that someone posted on a local neighborhood forum. It's a really nice changing table and I traded a dozen fresh eggs from my chickens for it.
For both economical and environmental reasons, I'm trying to score as much free and pre-owned stuff as I can. Except a car seat, I'll buy that new when the time is much closer. We aren't poor but we do have a tight budget! So I'm starting to keep my eyes and ears open for people letting go of their baby accessories :-)
My husband was kind of upset when I broke it to him yesterday that he can't go with me. Partially because he wants to be there and is very excited, but also to support me because it's going to be hard emotionally. I'm actually going to ask the office if I can call him on Zoom or something while I'm there.
This is also my first pregnancy and the little one is due Dec 12th from my random guess. Still waiting on my first doc appt and feeling VERY excited. Noticed a bit of blood today in my pee so feeling a bit anxious but from what I read this is "normal" so hoping that to be true! Only time will tell. How has everyone been feeling physically?
