I wasn't sure where to put this (in my weekly group check-in, etc), so I figured I'd post here: we've started working on the nursery! The bedroom closest to our master bedroom was MH's "man cave" where he kept all of his collectibles like action figures, baseball memorabilia, comic books, etc. We're in the process of selling off some of the stuff he no longer wants and storing the rest in tubs until we can figure out what to do with them as far as displaying them goes since we have two other guest rooms, but there's still a ton of stuff, so decisions need to be made.
Anyway, without further ado, here is the start of our Wookiee the Chew themed nursery. We chose this theme since it works well for a boy or a girl, so regardless of what we're having, it'll be cute. Sorry if the pics are huge, I wanted to be able to show the detail.
Step 1 - We used a projector to display the picture on the wall, then traced the outline of the figures onto the wall in pencil.
Step 2 - Painting the main characters and features.
Step 3 - Filling in the details. We're leaving the balloon holding Eeyore the AT-AT blank until we know the baby's sex, then we'll use that as our announcement.
That's as far as we got yesterday. MH is up there working on it right now, so I'm about to go join him. He's put me in charge of filling in the sky and the leaves on the trees for today. Oh, and here's what we hope it looks like once this wall is finished.
And this is what one of the opposing walls will have, we just haven't decided which wall to put it on yet since we're undecided on where the crib is going.
@babyodo I love it!! Such talent! My husband loves Star Wars and I love Winnie the Pooh our nursery is going to be the classic Winnie the Pooh! I literally registered on Amazon for everything I could find that was Classic Pooh for our nursery (not the Disneyfied version, but I still love Disney regardless lol)! Your nursery will be so original!
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
Thanks, ladies! If it weren't for the quarantine, I'm not sure we'd have the time to do it (at least do it ourselves instead of just buying prints). It's a fun little thing we can do together instead of just sitting on the couch watching television.
I have been playing with the idea of painting a mural in the nursery and now that there's definitely I am at a loss of what to do! But you've definitely inspired me, I might have to so some research now.
@babyodo that's adorable. We only have 3 bedrooms and one is an office so the kids will have to share. We are waiting to decorate our son's room until they start sharing, probably in a year.
I have an appointment tomorrow at 12+5. I know I'm already over 12 weeks but I told my mom I was waiting until after that appointment to tell our extended family. I told her I was not planning on posting about it on social media or anything so I was fine with her spreading the news to the family AFTER my appointment--I have 24 aunts and uncles and >40 first cousins so I wasn't planning on contacting them all myself. However, after one of my aunts just posted on my Facebook wall, I just found out that apparently my parents told everyone today. Feels like a total jinx on my appointment tomorrow. And I just found this all out at 10pm so now I'm wide awake when I should be going to sleep. Ugh.

@carrotsandpeas3 I feel for you. My husband told his aunt a month or so ago. She has the biggest mouth. I was livid. All I could do was tell my husband that wasn’t cool. I didn’t appreciate what he did and move on. No use for me at that point stewing over it. Hopefully you can make peace with it and be okay. Good luck with your appointment! Should be a bright spot in your day 🌞
Thanks everyone! All good at my appointment so I am feeling a lot more secure with how things are going. Still doesn't mean I'm not frustrated with my parents, but can't change it now.
@carrotsandpeas3 I'm glad that your appointment went well. I also just found out yesterday that my parents told everyone that I was pregnant even after I told them multiple times that I wasn't planning on telling anyone else until later. I kept saying not to tell anyone. They said that they "forgot." I was actually kind of mad about it, so I understand the frustration.
@babyodo wow, that wall looks amazing! Good job being productive during quarantine. Lord knows I haven’t done anything.
@carrotsandpeas3 I’m sorry your mom told everyone before you wanted her to. I hate when people share news that isn’t theirs to share. Glad your appointment went well though!
