Randoms w/o 3/30

I’ve officially not left my house for 2 weeks.... I’ve watched so much Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Paw Patrol.
Despite being home, my house is not clean and we ordered pizza for dinner 🤷🏻‍♀️

Re: Randoms w/o 3/30

  • @profmcgonagall I'm on day 12 without leaving the house (outside of walking the neighborhood 2-3x per day). We've watched frozen 1.5 times today already, so I feel ya. DH wasn't home this morning and I was throwing up and trying to participate in a zoom meeting for work so Elsa became the babysitter real quick.

  • Same over here. We’re in day 16 today. We celebrated our five year anniversary this weekend by ordering pizza. Didn’t feel like cooking and DD has watched more tv these past few weeks than ever. It’s just part of our new normal.
  • I think it’s funny hearing people talk about having all this free time to do projects around the house now that they are staying home, but I don’t have anymore free time with a toddler to care for!
  • I’ve lost count on the days we’ve been at home, they all run together 🙈 It’s finally a beautiful day outside so this morning Im finishing some cleaning and then later today I’m taking our golden for a walk because she’s been as lazy as I have 😂
  • Hey did ya’ll hear audible announced that as long as schools are closed, kids can stream stories for free... Not sure if your kids would be interested but it might be a nice time consumer for littles

  • I’ve left my house once in the last 2.5 weeks and that was to go to my first OB appointment. Thankfully, it’s finally sunny and nice outside. The first two weeks it was dreadfully cloudy/rainy and depressing.
  • @mckjacks it's supposed to be sunny and almost 70 tomorrow and I'm so excited to have an appointment and get some sun on the drive there!
It's the small things amidst all this mess that count!
  • I have been so busy! Not complaining that my job is hectic especially during these times, but I have not had a moment to breathe between everything going on!
I have my NT scan today and I am excited. I am going alone but oh well. I think my next appointment will be in 4 weeks so that's going to be a long time...hopefully by then things in the world will start looking up :(
  • @morethanamama FX your NT scan goes great today!

I, too, haven't left the house much since the 18th. I've gone to the office twice to work on stuff that I can't take care of at home, and left the house for our first US on the 23rd, and that's it. Thankfully, it was sunny and gorgeous over the weekend, so we were able to do a bunch of stuff outside. It was nice to change it up a bit. We were starting to get crabby with each other.

I hate to say it, but I'm kind glad this is taking place in early-Spring and not early-Fall or Winter, because that would make it so much more difficult to remain positive. It's nice having the option to go hang out in our backyard or on our front porch from time to time.

  • @babyodo I was just thinking the same thing. So glad this is early spring. I have been spending time outside and I think that is the only thing keeping me sane.

@fitfizz I've been thinking of you. Have you still been able to work remotely for now? ETA: or were you seeing non-sick patients in person? I can't remember what you said they had you doing.
  • @carrotsandpeas3 I have been seeing patients almost entirely virtually, but still having to go into clinic. By next week, I will at least partially be working from home. I still see occasional non-sick people in person, but that is becoming increasingly rare. They are starting to send more and more people to work in the hospital, and I think being pregnant means I am protected from that. I’m struggling right now with feeling guilty as I have a lot more critical care experience than the people who are being sent to the hospital, but I have to do what feels safe.

@fitzfizz they are asking for resident volunteers to go help at the hospital, but I'm protected for that because of pregnancy as well. I have very little critical care experience though so I don't really think they mind not having me. I do wish I could at least go help triage or with testing centers or something because I'm feeling so helpless, but I know I shouldn't. There's a good chance my husband gets pulled in though. Glad you are staying safe!
  • Thinking of both of you @carrotsandpeas3 and @fitzfizz. Anyone in the medical field is a hero to me no matter what.
  • In good news, starting on Monday I will be working half from home. I'll be going in to the office and seeing patients on Mondays and Wednesdays and at home on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Brought all my computer stuff home today and I'll test to make sure my VPN is cool a little later this evening. The boy and I have also agreed that, outside of my work time, I will largely not leave the house and he will run all the errands.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • Just found out that I will be working weekends inpatient and the acute rehab unit at the hospital. I will have to work every 3 weeks because we are down 2 SLPs right now. I guess they moved all the Covid suspected and positive cases to the outpatient surgery area of the hospital so at least they are no longer mixed within the Medsurge and ICU units. I know I have to do this so my co-workers aren’t working every other weekend, but it does suck. I can’t imagine those of you that are working with patients full time and providing way more risky care procedures than I will have to provide!
  • Love to see some good news. It seems we have a lot of mamas here are in the medical field, so I just want to express gratitude to all of you. I cannot even fathom going through something like this in the front lines. Even if you are only working part time or sporadically, you are still a hero to me! Please stay safe!

In other news...WHY AM I GETTING NAUSEA AGAIN 3 DAYS BEFORE I ENTER 2ND TRI?? WHY??? I woke up with a SPLITTING headache and was hoping a coffee would wake me up (after chugging a good amount of water) but NOPE now I actually want to puke.
  • @morethanamama my nausea has remained steady too! I was expecting (praying for) it to taper off this week, but here I am at 13w+1d and every. Single. smell still makes me gag. Also, I have started to get headaches on a nightly basis.

My MIL is still expecting us to come over for Easter. I am trying to do everything in my power to stay locked in, only one weekly trip to the grocery store. We told her we would rather not get together this year given the circumstances. I wouldn't feel right if we were to unknowingly transmit the virus to them. She took it so personally and is really upset. She thinks that we are scared they are going to get us sick and really we just want to protect them! We want to do whatever we can to keep the entire family as safe as possible. They're both over 60 and you just never know! It's certainly not for lack of wanting to spend time together, we suggested video chatting but that didn't ease her anger. I feel awful about it and I'm not really sure what to do now.
  • @ginevere, I’m sorry your MIL is being difficult. I think you are absolutely in the right by saying no. I wouldn’t go either

@morethanamama, My nausea went away for 3 days and it was awesome but the last two days have sucked. I have 10 more days until 2nd tri and I really hope it goes away

MH is finally working fully from home starting Monday! His job is fairly chill so it’s nice having him home more during the day and my toddler is loving it.
Also, pregnancy hormones are crazy. I binged the Toy Story movies on Disney+ today and seriously bawled so many times because I love the characters so much. 😂

  • @ginevere that sucks. They should be more understanding. Not mention they should be worried about getting you sick as well. It goes both ways. Hopefully she can adjust her expectations.

@morethanamama I’m about two weeks from the second trimester. My nausea has good and bad days, but I’ve started getting headaches daily. I read in one of the pregnancy books that this is normal. It can be many things from dehydration to low blood sugar.

We got news there might be a repatriation flight coming to Chad on Wednesday- trying to hold it lightly because so many have been canceled in the last 3 weeks. Yesterday, we told my parents (who have been incredible advocates and so supportive in all of this) we would need to quarantine away from them (for at least 14 days before joining them in isolation)...they’re in their 60’s and have health problems. They didn’t take it well either @ginevere It’s so hard to balance expectations of our families with what is being medically advised!
  • @morethanamama - That exact same thing happened to me on Monday and lasted till Wednesday. I figured LO is having a growth spurt or something. Thankfully, it passed by Thursday morning and I was able to feel somewhat normal again. Now, every time I wake up with even the slightest tinge of a headache, I worry that I'm going to feel upchucky again, though.

  • @courtneyjoy247 fingers crossed that the flight doesn't get cancelled this time and you make it home safe!!!
  • I had my first scan on Tuesday and I saw that I have an anterior placenta which I've dreaded each pregnancy. My sonographer told me it looks like it's growing fundal, but I'm still so sad and everyone I hear from tells me how horrible it is and I feel even worse. I know it might seem silly because at least it's not a low lying or previa, but I was hoping everything would just go normally and smoothly with everything I've been through and I hate the wild card aspect of the placenta doesn't end up growing fundal.
If any moms here have had an anterior that moved, tell me hopeful positive stories because I can't handle another "you won't be able to feel any movement" comments I keep getting.
  • @kalesix3 I had an anterior placenta last pregnancy and this time too. It is true that it seems to cushion some of the early movements when the baby is still small and I really didn’t feel any movement until I was 21 weeks along. Once I started to feel him kicking it wasn’t an issue and I was able to feel him consistently throughout the rest of the pregnancy. Just a heads up, sometimes it is hard to get a hb using a Doppler with an anterior placenta, so if that happens to you, don’t assume the worst. Other than that, I had no issues with the pregnancy or labor due to having an anterior placenta. I feel like I’ll probably feel movement earlier this time since I know what it feels like now.
  • @westslopemama thank you so much, that's really encouraging, I appreciate it.
I've already been feeling movement, I'm 12 weeks tomorrow, and that seems like it's a good sign to feel anything at all. I really hope it gets stronger and more frequent normally and isn't completely delayed until 20-ish weeks. My placenta last pregnancy was left/fundal, so the sonographer told me there's a good chance that it also started out as anterior but now I'm just worried this one won't move the same way. Thank you for the doppler tips, and it's nice to know anteriors don't always effect labor and delivery, I keep hearing how it causes OP babies/failure to progress/increased risk of hemorrhage 😩

@kalesix3 I'm 99% sure that's not true about anterior placentas. They are super common. I had one last pregnancy. I'm in medicine (not OB) and was super surprised to hear you say those things since I have never heard mention of it. Did a (quick) literature search and found nothing about increased risk unless it's anterior placenta previa or placenta increta/accreta/percreta spectrum which are different than just having an anterior placenta.
  • @kalesix3 I had an anterior with my second pregnancy and I felt him early and with even bigger movements than my first. I had the whole foot sticking out of my belly videos with him. Also zero complications! Easy delivery. Would have never known it was anterior if they hadn’t told me.
  • @kalesix3 anterior placenta doesn't cause any complications at all, it just pads movement a bit. It took me until 18 weeks with my first to feel him but then I felt him just fine. As far as I know it doesn't move once it's there. Mine is anterior again, but also previa this time, which is definitely more of a concern. However since I haven't had any bleeding I'm hoping that it will resolve itself by the anatomy scan in 6 weeks.
  • @morethanamama hope the previa resolved itself! My mom and grandma both had previa with all their pregnancies so I’ve been so relieved that I didn’t seem to get that gene if it is genetic.
  • @JLaVO888 I don't think it's genetic but who knows. Apparently it's more common with second/subsequent pregnancies. This is my first time having it and no one in my family had it so I think it's just coincidence 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • @kalesix3 I had an anterior placenta and if you’re already feeling movement that’s a good sign it may not affect your ability to feel movement as much as it does others. If you get to third tri and have trouble feeling movement you can request NSTs to verify baby is moving like it should. They’re quick and noninvasive.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Thank you everybody! You're awesome.
The risks and complications I cited are from women I've talked to who personally had these issues, when I Google it I can find some similar info but the personal stories and experiences are mainly what's scaring me..
I know placentas will move because mine certainly did last time, I'm hoping this time is the same and the placenta will move or rather grow with my uterus and end up fundal again because I haven't heard anything bad about fundal placentas and it's familiar to me.
I'm glad to hear from you guys that had anteriors and have been fine and still felt movement normally, that's such a relief.
I'll be getting NSTs regularly in my third trimester anyways, so if movement isn't consistent that will be great to help ease my mind.
Hopefully it's good news at my 20 week scan as well!
  • Yeah that's so weird about the information online. I never even googled it. They told me it wasn't a concern so I just went with it🤷🏻‍♀️ definitely not feeling movement yet and I'll be 14 weeks on Tuesday. I'm not going to even worry about it until closer to 19 and fingers crossed it's like last time
  • Fingers crossed you feel movement soon @morethanamama ! I didn't know a previa could cause later movements but I guess it makes sense it baby hangs out in your pelvis longer..?
  • @kalesix3 no it doesn't, I was talking about anterior. I had it last time too and didn't feel movement until 19 weeks. So I won't worry about movement until then. And this time I'll also see around then if it's still previa, Hopefully not!
  • Only about 8 weeks left till I can see whether mine moved 😂
  • We got our NIPT results today! Everything looked great. Do we plan to do a thread for those finding out the sex?
  • @kalesix3 please don’t worry about having an anterior placenta. They are extremely common and the location of the placenta has no bearing on health of the pregnancy or delivery. I had an anterior placenta with both my boys and they were totally textbook pregnancies. Felt movement with my first at 19 weeks, second at 15 weeks. There’s probably a higher incidence of abruption if you get hit in the belly/fall on your belly since the placenta is front and center but even that is rare.
