Re: Check-in week of 3/9

  • @viola_mama Nah, I think the "questions" prompt is a fair place. But there's also a "Questions for STMs" thread you can try for more responses. I'm sure someone here has personal experience that could be helpful!

  • I totally get it, I had been planning on letting my body do its thing too, before I found out I have to return to work on a certain day no matter what and that there are arguments that were pro-early induction. At least I have plenty of time to figure it out still. :)
  • Wowsers! @ziggymama06
  • Married: August 2012
    TTC #1: July 2015
    BFP 1: October 30, 2015; EDD: July 6, 2016- Team Pink
    TTC #2: September 2019

  • EDD/weeks+days:  15+4

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green:  NIPT said boy but waiting for 20 week scan to confirm visually. My MD tried to check at 15+1 but baby was hiding way down low in my pelvis.

Baby is the size of a(n): navel orange

Upcoming appointments: on April 13, I have my 20 week ultrasound and visit to my OB.

How are you feeling? Some cramping which my doctor noted on my last ultrasound on 15+1. My MD says it's Braxton Hicks which is quite early as it's my first pregnancy, she told me to stay well hydrated and that should help but I am drinking 3 liters a day of water on average. It feels a bit like period cramps at this point

Raves/Rants: Found out I'm being categorized as high risk, which my doctor did not talk to me about. I think it's my age (over 35), and the fact that I have Hashimotos (thyroid disease with an autoimmune factor).

Questions: when should I feel my baby move? My husband swears he can feel it sometimes when he puts his hand on my stomach. Sometimes I think I feel something but it's hard to know exactly what.

GTKY: What spring activity are you most looking forward to? Going to Hawaii tomorrow for 10 days! My MD cleared me to fly and told me to just be conscious of who may be sick around me and avoid them. Airports and planes are empty right now so not too worried.
  • @viola_mama I am being induced at 39 weeks at the latest voluntarily. First time around a doctor at the practice wouldn't even talk to me about it at 39 weeks but at my next appointment with my delivery doctor we got it scheduled right away for 40+2. I will be induced this time because I had an 8 lbs baby that no one was expecting that ended up being a traumatic vaginal birth. I had to discuss my fears with my doctor and they volunteered a third trimester growth scan and early induction for me. I am all for labor induction honestly, there hasn't been a women in my family go into labor unassisted in 4 generations, and I come from a history of very big babies with myself being 10 lbs at 36 weeks. Talk it out with your doctor but it will come down to their policies and hospital policy.
  • @older1sttime_mom2b I also have hashimotos! have fun in Hawaii!
  • @mrswheeler812 Sorry you had such a traumatic birth! Thanks for sharing with me. Also never occurred to me to ask my grandmother how big all hers were at birth, so thanks for putting that in my head!

Sorry, I didn't mean to make you stress! My family told me all about their babies last time around and it stressed me out. Family history doesn't dictate how yours will be it's just something to keep in mind. I wanted to share my experience because most of the responses were induction averse. Everyone and every birth is different, this is your body and child to make decisions for. But talk to your doctor explain your reasoning and if that doesn't work try SAFE natural labor inducing methods on your own AFTER you get full term.
  • @mrswheeler812 No worries, not stressing! That was a genuine thank you for giving me the idea to ask my gram about her three pregnancies. I will definitely be doing whatever my doctor thinks is best, she’s the expert of course. :)
  • @ziggymama06 That crib is Gorgeous. I love the tufted back and it just seems perfect for a little girl's room.
