@viola_mama Nah, I think the "questions" prompt is a fair place. But there's also a "Questions for STMs" thread you can try for more responses. I'm sure someone here has personal experience that could be helpful!
@viola_mama My former practice was planning to induce me at 39 weeks; I switched practices. :D Now that is no longer the plan, so... I just think it may be different schools of thought, but I am also induction averse. 🤷 I'm not sure if you look at the research if it's the kind of thing where you may find studies to support a case for either? For me, that's not so important, as I prefer to go with my gut, for lack of a better way to put it. And for me, it made more sense to go with a practice that seems more willing to let my body do its thing.
@emiliadkay I'm sorry that you cancelled your trip, that's a bummer.... but I think that's a good idea. I heard that many St Patrick's Day parades will be cancelled. Glad YH is getting along better on the crutches, they are just no fun. We completely splurged on the furniture as I fell in love with a pottery barn crib and nothing at bbb came close in comparison after that... we ordered a convertible crib so the back will become a full sized bed, and we plan for her to have the furniture for ~10 yrs, hopefully lol... here's a pic of the crib and toddler bed

I totally get it, I had been planning on letting my body do its thing too, before I found out I have to return to work on a certain day no matter what and that there are arguments that were pro-early induction. At least I have plenty of time to figure it out still.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: NIPT said boy but waiting for 20 week scan to confirm visually. My MD tried to check at 15+1 but baby was hiding way down low in my pelvis.
Baby is the size of a(n): navel orange
Upcoming appointments: on April 13, I have my 20 week ultrasound and visit to my OB.
How are you feeling? Some cramping which my doctor noted on my last ultrasound on 15+1. My MD says it's Braxton Hicks which is quite early as it's my first pregnancy, she told me to stay well hydrated and that should help but I am drinking 3 liters a day of water on average. It feels a bit like period cramps at this point
Raves/Rants: Found out I'm being categorized as high risk, which my doctor did not talk to me about. I think it's my age (over 35), and the fact that I have Hashimotos (thyroid disease with an autoimmune factor).
Questions: when should I feel my baby move? My husband swears he can feel it sometimes when he puts his hand on my stomach. Sometimes I think I feel something but it's hard to know exactly what.
GTKY: What spring activity are you most looking forward to? Going to Hawaii tomorrow for 10 days! My MD cleared me to fly and told me to just be conscious of who may be sick around me and avoid them. Airports and planes are empty right now so not too worried.
@viola_mama I am being induced at 39 weeks at the latest voluntarily. First time around a doctor at the practice wouldn't even talk to me about it at 39 weeks but at my next appointment with my delivery doctor we got it scheduled right away for 40+2. I will be induced this time because I had an 8 lbs baby that no one was expecting that ended up being a traumatic vaginal birth. I had to discuss my fears with my doctor and they volunteered a third trimester growth scan and early induction for me. I am all for labor induction honestly, there hasn't been a women in my family go into labor unassisted in 4 generations, and I come from a history of very big babies with myself being 10 lbs at 36 weeks. Talk it out with your doctor but it will come down to their policies and hospital policy.
Raves/Rants: I am excited for our AS and I kind of do want to know but I just dont want to tell anyone who I know will bug us about what we are having, which is basically everyone. Everyone assumes we will have a girl, so I am planning for it to be a boy (same thing happened with DS1) and I do not want to deal with the nosy people asking if we are disappointed/plan to keep trying for a girl/etc. We have also waited so long to announce on social media (still havent), I almost dont want to do it at all now. Obviously people will post about it once the baby comes but at this point we have told the people we want to know in person so I have no desire to share with anyone outside of our main circle. For a rave, we told DS1 last night he is becoming a big cousin this year. He is excited and is already planning to watch all the babies. We found out DH brother is due with his first a couple of months after us which is exciting since DS1 has been the only kid in both of our families up until now.
Questions: How do you deal with other people and their opinions during your pregnancy? Last time I wasnt so moody and took it better (plus being a FTM I wanted the advice), this time I want to punch anyone who tries to give me advice/comments on our family/pregnancy.
GTKY: What spring activity are you most looking forward to? nicer weather and getting to be outside to enjoy it. I cant wait to be able to take a walk outside in the evenings while DS gets to ride his bike.
@mrswheeler812 Sorry you had such a traumatic birth! Thanks for sharing with me. Also never occurred to me to ask my grandmother how big all hers were at birth, so thanks for putting that in my head!

Sorry, I didn't mean to make you stress! My family told me all about their babies last time around and it stressed me out. Family history doesn't dictate how yours will be it's just something to keep in mind. I wanted to share my experience because most of the responses were induction averse. Everyone and every birth is different, this is your body and child to make decisions for. But talk to your doctor explain your reasoning and if that doesn't work try SAFE natural labor inducing methods on your own AFTER you get full term.
@mrswheeler812 No worries, not stressing! That was a genuine thank you for giving me the idea to ask my gram about her three pregnancies. I will definitely be doing whatever my doctor thinks is best, she’s the expert of course.
Due Aug. 1. Team Green. Next appointment in April.
How are you feeling? Good
Raves/Rants: Rave - almost done with a sewing project! Rant - all the things being canceled. Ugh!
GTKY: What spring activity are you most looking forward to? Everything! I like winter and snow, but, man, is it hard to get out and enjoy it. Yesterday, I bundled up my kids - snowpants, boots, mittens, hats, coats. Probably took close to 15 minutes to get them all ready, and then we're outside for maybe 20 before they need to come back in because it's cold. I'm looking forward to going outside being easier with them only needing sneakers (if that) and a jacket.
Family history is one data point, and can be an indicator of how things will go, but it shouldn't dictate labor choices because it's not an absolute. My grandma had all small babies - less than 7 pounds - and long 18+ hour labors. My mom and all my sisters and I so far have had larger babies (the only two smaller than 7 and a half pounds were induced at 38 weeks and had IUGR, respectively, and some have been over 9 pounds) and relatively quick labors (less than 10 hours).
Forgive me for doing a lazy check in this week....This was my first week back at work after a year-long mat leave! My daughter turned one yesterday and we had her birthday party today. I’m EXHAUSTED. I honestly don’t know how I got through my first week back at work in a long time, plus the new routine of getting two kids ready for daycare every morning and getting them home and fed whey night after work, plus planning and executing a big party - all while pregnant. I seriously want to curl up in a ball and sleep for a week. But all I can think of is that these are the “easy” days because in a few months I’ll have ANOTHER KID. Oh man. How am I going to cope?! Haha sorry for the negativity, I’m just super tired.
Anyways, I’m 16.5 weeks, not sure how big baby is, no appointments scheduled until my midwife appt at the end of the month (also waiting for a date for my AS scan). We all have colds in my house. Ugh.
I’m trying to keep up to date but it’s tough now that I’m back at work! I apologize if my comments / check ins are fashionably late from now on...
