    Age(s) of other kid(s)?
    18 months DD

    Rant/Rave:
I'm attempting to study for one of the biggest exams of my life, and I'm so distracted by all things pregnancy related. Not focused at all!

    Questions:
Not really--my symptoms are all whacky but I think that's normal. Just ready for my appointment but I have 3.5 more weeks.

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)?
    Being late and laziness.

How far along are you? 5+4

    Age(s) of other kid(s)? 5 and 3

Rant/Rave: I seem to be really nauseated until noon and then good until evening. I’ll take having a window to eat!

Questions: What are you drinking besides plain water to stay hydrated?

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)? People who chew loudly is #1. I also can’t stand people who don’t say please/thank you.
  • How far along are you? 5+2

    Age(s) of other kid(s)? 23m son

Rant/Rave: I usually do our taxes, but asked my husband to do it this year. It’s not hard, we use an accountant and all we have to do is fill in a few blanks on a form. He acted like it was in a foreign language. He is not a dumb person normally. He kept showing me a form and saying things like, “This says 200. Does this say 200?” I was like did you forget how to read??? I felt like crap and wanted to punch his face.

Questions: Anyone else potty training a toddler before the next one gets here? It’s actually going well at home, but I can’t seem to get my mom (my main childcare) to take it seriously.

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)? How many can I list?? I’ll just start with the most recent: people (husbands) who ask very stupid questions.

Rant/Rave: My coworkers have been bringing me in second breakfasts and ginger ales, unsolicited.  I have one coworker who insists on heating my lunch for me because he doesn't want me in front of the microwave.  I told him that's not a thing, but he does it anyway.  But not in a creepy misogynistic way, they are all being incredible to me.

Questions: How do you intend to do bedroom configurations for those in smaller homes?  We have a 3/2 with one of the secondary bedrooms slightly larger than the other.  My older two will share for a while, but I don't think it's sustainable.

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)? I'll have to come back to this.  I know I have many but I am having a hard time thinking.

I have been drinking powerade zero mixed berry flavor and ginger ale if I need a change from water.  I am still not drinking nearly enough.

Rant/Rave: rant - I’m annoyed by my mood. I feel very in limbo lately. Not happy, not sad, just neutral. It’s an annoying feeling. Rave - my numbers from my lab test came back good! Just gotta get through the weekend to find out what the repeats were.

Questions: not that I can think of.

pet peeves: poor grammar. Yeah, I’m one of those people. I have learned not to correct people, though.

  • How far along are you? 6+3

    Age(s) of other kid(s)? 4

Rant/Rave: Just gonna be a broken record. I’m tired of being sick!!

    Questions:

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)? When people ask “Has anyone [thing that literally thousands have done]?” For example: some lady recently asked a local moms group (4K members) “has anyone ever ordered from Wish?” No Karen, no one has ever ordered from Wish before. 🙄

  • 7+3 today! Inching closer to my appointment, now 2 weeks away! My DS is 19mo. And he's amazing but also very active!

My rave is that I got a great performance review and a raise, which is perfect timing. My Rant is that one of our customers is having a ton of issues and is ruining my Friday.

Also wondering about room set up. @smg2302 we are also in a 3/2 and I've been thinking about arrangements because I work from home and need the 3rd bedroom. But I only have one kid so I think he'll share his (small) room until we move again and unless we have a girl potentially for longer!

My pet peeve is when someone messages me (on whatever media), I respond right away, and then they ghost. Particularly annoying at work when the message is about something they need me to do. BS!

  • How far along are you?
    7 (+0 - is that a thing or is it just 7?)

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?
    4 yo DS

    Rant/Rave:
DS is a master procrastinator when it comes to bedtime, then when he is forced to wake up for preschool, he's a disagreeable grump who refuses to follow directions. I've made him cry twice this week over breakfast/getting dressed. Now I have terrible mom guilt, and I just want to give him cuddles.

    Questions:
Anyone have suggestions of good books for kids to let them know they are going to be an older sibling?

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)?
slow walkers, loud chewers, loud phone talkers, people who insist on driving speed limit in the fast lane when there is no one in front of them, people who don't even attempt to use punctuation when they type...so many more that I can't think of right now.
  • We have a 3/3 house. Currently our 3rd bedroom is a “play room” because we don’t really have space anywhere else for it. We’ll probably keep it that way until the baby moves out of our room and then probably will need to move.

Rant: when women don’t empower other women. If you see someone being successful don’t try to bring them down. Especially if they are higher up on the command chain... ugh

Rave: My hubby has been great this time around. After two losses, this was a huge surprise and he has been making sure I’m emotionally ok.

Questions: we gave all of our baby things away after our last loss, we weren’t going to try anymore. Now, we have to start over and I’m not sure where I should start?

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)? When I have to repeat things... at work, at home.
  • @lilbubb check to see if there are any consignment sales in your area. Just Between Friends hosts events nationwide, and I've been to the one in my area a few times. The gear and toys can be hit or miss, the books are usually pretty decent, but you can get some great deals on clothes that are still in really good condition (and not infrequently, new with tags). As for gear, I'd wait for major holidays in hopes of finding some good sales. I'm a frugal Frannie, if you couldn't tell...

    🙌🏽 Yess, it’s so infuriating!

re: starting over - consignment/second hand stores can be great. Once Upon a Child is one that has stores across the US. We need to get a bassinet, play yard, and a few other big things. We’ll likely get them second hand.

Rant/Rave:  Today wasn't a good day at work.  I'm just glad that it is finally going to be the weekend!

    Questions: nope

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)?  Everything that @aztecash wrote; it was like you read my mind.  Basically, most of my pet peeves involve people being clueless or just not caring about what is happening around them.  I got stuck behind two slow walkers today at work while walking in a tunnel that connects the parking garage to the hospital.  They were walking next to each other without leaving any room to pass by them.  I finally asked politely to let me through, but they were just too unaware of the fact that they were blocking the entire  hallway and unaware of their surroundings.  They didn't move out of the way.

@mkp0903  I am definitely going to potty train my son prior to this baby.  I have had one failed attempt already because I don't think he was ready.  He also thought his training toilet was a toy box to store his toys.  I am going to try again in May when I have a week off from work.

  • @mkp0903, we actually just potty trained our 26 mo. We followed the method laid out in “Oh Crap! Potty Training.” It’s worked like a charm for the first two. The third took a little longer but 2 weeks in and I think she’s got it!

Rant/Rave: My son is finally sleeping through the night!

Questions: none I can think of

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)? Loud chewing, people who tailgate, but then don’t pass when there is a passing lane, people who talk on FaceTime in public and people who listen to videos or let their kids listen to videos without headphones at restaurants, on airplanes, etc.

    Rant/Rave:
It has been an up and down roller coaster of a week with this pregnancy so I’m glad to be ending the week with mostly positives.

    Questions:
    Nope.

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)?
Late. Like if I’m not ten minutes early, I’m late. People who say right meow. And I’m following a missing kid case right now and am sick to death of “that’s a part of the investigation” so we can’t tell you anything. 🙄

@carrotsandpeas3 good luck with the exam!

    @coldbrew sweet tea.

@smg2302 my boys already share a room and will be for a while. They like it. And are slowly getting better about going to sleep instead of chatting.

@aztecash Daniel Tiger books about getting a new baby.

@mkp0903 I second Oh Crap Potty Training. It definitely worked for us. It just took longer than I liked.
  • @mdfarmchick so glad to hear things are looking positive! That's excellent news!

@westslopemama omg people who FaceTime or watch videos in public drive me crazy. My dad does it all the time which doesn't help. He always tries to FaceTime me from his break room at work, and I continually tell him how rude that is.
  • @NME44 and @mdfarmchick we’ve been using Oh Crap. It worked really well for when we are at home and if either DH or I takes him somewhere. I was surprised b/c he’s not even 2. He goes to day care 2 days per week, and they insist they wear pull ups or diapers until they are in the 2 year old class (next school year). Then my mom just puts him in a pull-up when she has him. She at least takes him regularly but when I have a stretch of days off work, I feel like I am starting over 😩
  • @mkp0903, that’s a bummer. We’ve done all of our kids at 26 months so I didn’t have to deal with an under 2 class. It’s definitely harder if not everyone is on board! I wish you luck and hope it clicks for him soon!
  • I'm undecided about potty training. My son is not interested and not nearly ready but he's still only 19 months. I think I heard before that it's not a good idea to do it at the same time the new baby comes. Which makes me wonder if I should give it a go this summer. He has amazing receptive language and is bilingual but we are working on adding more words as his expressive language is not as good. He didn't quality for full speech therapy because he IS talking but we will still get some of the services. Maybe I'll see where he is at in a couple of months and take it from there. Would your advice be to wait until after baby?

I found this super cute book by Caroline Church called "I'm a big brother". I think it's still too soon for him to get it but we'll start reading it at some point.

Also, he's been waking up past 7 the whole week, and of course on Saturday morning he's up and running at 630 am. Thankful for snacks and a new baby shark puzzle that I also got at the consignment sale -he loves it.
  • @morethanamama I'm in the same sort of boat with DD who is 18 months. Didn't really want to attempt before 2 but new baby is coming when she will be 26 months. Daycare won't help until she's in the 2 year old room. She is already showing signs though (tells me when she poops, sits on a little play potty), so I don't know if I should try in the 2 months before baby or what. It seems like a lot of pressure to put such a strict and quick deadline on it though.
  • Anyone have experience baby wearing during pregnancy? If so, is there a specific type of carrier or brand that you recommend? I hope to be able to do short hikes during the week with my son once the trails dry out. I will definitely plan on having my husband carry him when we do hikes together on the weekend. I need something to slow DH down or I’m already dragging ass behind him!
  • @morethanamama, I wouldn’t wait until after baby if you don’t have to, because that’s just one more thing to worry about. Beginning of the summer would probably be a great time for him to start and be in a routine before the baby comes. My son barely spoke when we trained him, too. He was in ST for expressive delays.

@carrotsandpeas3, I’m not sure what I would do in your situation if daycare won’t help until 2.
  • @westslopemama, I do. I use wraps almost exclusively, so I’m probably biased, but I find a long wrap gives the best support.
  • @NME44 thank you! That makes me feel better about it. I agree that it would be fantastic to only have one kid in diapers! Even if he still has to wear a diaper at night, I'd take that!
  • @morethanamama my 18 month old now tells us when she poops and thinks it is hilarious when she sees us on the toilet. I think she is ready to be potty trained but I am so tired and nauseous. Like you I want to have one kid in diapers but wish I could have a specialist do it😭. Hopefully in the coming months there is enough time to be patient with the kiddos so that by the time we have newborn's we have potty trained toddlers.
  • Mine are both potty trained. However, since about Christmas my DD who will be 3 in 2 weeks, has a tendency to pee herself and not tell anyone. It happens at least once a day. Idk how to help her not pee herself. We think she’s to engrossed in whatever she’s doing to stop and go to the potty.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)? Tailgaters.

DD has peed on the potty at home like 10 times. But 9 of those were in one night. 😂 I'd like her to be potty trained but I'm not ready to put too much energy into it, lol.

@profmcgonagall people who don’t use their turn signal are super irritating!

@lilbubb We weren’t planning on another either and are starting over. We possibly still have a crib but that’s it. Dh and I are planning on getting one “big budget” item a month. Target has a really cool section of their baby registry that lists all of the essentials! Super helpful because I seriously forgot everything 😂
  • @sjomomma for DD2 we put DD1 in a big sis shirt. For this one we are taking a family pic with a onesie in Disney to announce because I can’t pass that opportunity up. I don’t care if it’s cringey lol
  • Are there any other preemie moms in here?  As I was sitting here thinking about the future when this baby gets here I’m feeling a bit of worry and uncertainty.  My daughter was born at 31 weeks.  She spent a month in the nicu.  So my milk dried up quickly because she wasn’t with me.   And essentially I was able to heal physically from her birth while she was still in the hospital.   I guess I’m feeling a bit like a first time mom in a sense.  If I’m able to carry this one to term and it comes right home with us I’m going to experience so many things for the first time ... if that makes sense.  Do other preemie moms have those worries?
  • @anitamargarita_82 my son was born at 30 weeks and I have those exact same thoughts. I will have a planned csection and I’m already worried about healing with a toddler and a newborn. But at the same time, I won’t be trekking back and forth from home to the NICU. I think being able to heal and relax at home will help.

  • @anitamargarita_82 not a preemie mom but DD2 spent her first 6 months in NICU and CICU with only a few weeks home. She could never eat by mouth so I had to EP. I feel like a FTM for all of the new baby/BFing stuff again.
  • @anitamargarita_82, technically my son wasn’t a preemie (38 weeks), but he was in the NICU for two weeks for breathing issues, and I had such a hard time with him being in there, but it did give me the opportunity to recover from my c-section. I have a lot of anxiety around another NICU baby, but also feel like a FTM- like, how do I recover/rest with a baby at home? People do it all the time, but would be totally new for me.

Rant/Rave: We we’re seeing a fertility specialist, and even though we didn’t end up going with treatments to get pregnant, I still get weekly ultrasounds (til 9 weeks). I love it. But I’m still so anxious, and drive myself crazy regularly about it.

Questions: Most of our baby stuff was purchased 6 years ago- is there a good guide for what can still be used and what needs to be purchased new?

GTKY: What is/are your pet peeve(s)? When people say “I seen”. I can ignore other grammar issues most of the time, but that one drives me insane.
