Babies: 0 - 3 Months

If DC sttn...for how long?

Mer goes to sleep between 8 and 9, and sleeps until between 7 and 9 the next morning (most nights). Do you think 12 hours is too long of a stretch at night? Most articles I read say that 3 month old babies only sleep 9 - 10 hour stretches overnight. She also takes 3 naps per day, AM, noon, and PM. Should I just be grateful for the sleep or do I have a lazy baby on my hands that I should talk to the pedi about?

Re: If DC sttn...for how long?

  • I'd be grateful. ?DS goes to bed at 7:30, gets up at 5ish for a bottle, then goes back down and sleeps til 8:30 am. ?He barely naps all day. ?

  • You should be grateful!!!  I would be if I were in your shoes!  DD is a horrible napper and just started sleeping a little better overnight (still not STTN tho).  Some babies are just sleepers; I apparently have a party animal on my hands.  LOL
  • All I can say I am jealous and I hope my DS will do that when he is 3 moths old!
  • I would be gracious for the sleep and how well she accomplishes it!! Sleep is good. Don't think of it as a bad thing, unless she starts sleeping less at night because of her daytime sleep or something like that.
  • Be grateful, dd goes to bed between 8 andn 830 and wakes around 5 to eat and goes right back down until 8 or so. She only takes two naps. One is about 45 minutes and then a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.
  • Be greatful! Not all babies are the same. I am so jealous Crying

  • Every baby is different, if he is happy, then everything is good. My DS sleeps from 8:30 pm - 7:00 am usually. He then takes 1 hour nap in the morning and 2 hours in the aftternoon. The most recent article I read on this said 12-15 hours of sleep a day is still normal for a 3-6 month old.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I know every baby is different, but I seem to obsess over every detail!!
  • that is what my DS did at 3 months old- bed by 8 pm up at 7am.  I also did a dream feed at 11 pm though.
  • My DS slept 12 hours at 3 months. Now he is back to waking at 3-4am for a bottle ever since he started teething (so just FYI it could change for you). It sounds like you lucked out and have a great sleeper!
