is this normal?? ... first shot of follistim

wow ... the shot didn't hurt at all, but within 20 seconds, i developed a HUGE bruise around the injection site.

it is raised and pretty tender.  is this normal?  did i do something wrong??? i'm a little nervous ...

    I wonder if you are having an allergic reaction?  I didn't have any swelling.  That sounds wrong.  I hope you'll keep us posted! 
    About me: A pixie in the city, 41, TTC #1 since May 2010, married 18 years. Diagnosed with, surgically removed, endometrioma Aug.2010 Sept 2010 IUI #1=BFN, Oct=cyst/bfn, Nov 2010 IUI #2 = bfn. Had to postpone IUI #3 b/c of a cyst natural=BFN. Skipped IUI #3, decided to go for IVF. Found/removed uterine polyps Jan 2011. IVF cancelled, no follicles. IVF #2: 3 great embies put in on Easter Sunday = BFN. Hoping for another chance at IVF in July. TTC is NOT for wimps. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ticker/2fab90/ttc.png

    Gosh, I don't know.  Do they have an advice nurse you could call?  (Doctor or insurance provider)

    I bruised quite a bit when I was doing Gonal F and Lupron - not sure which shots made me bruise.  I also once hit a blood vessel and blood shot out like a bad horror movie. Maybe you hit a blood vessel and it's just under the skin.  Wouldn't hurt to check with your RE or even the pharmacists.
