We met at one of MH's gigs just over seven years ago. We were friends for about six months before his drummer told me I should go for it, so I asked him to go to the Bodies Live exhibit at one of our local museums. Kind of a morbid first date, but looking back on it, it was totally fitting to us.
We don't really have a favorite date night, but I do like to mix in a fancy date every few months where we actually have a reservation and we dress up, the whole shebang. I don't want us to get into a rut of sweatpants and Netflix (which do most nights of the week already).
MH and I have been together for 13 years, married for almost 9 years. We met in college. We're both super competitive, so date nights for us are something we can "win" at, like a sport or a game or something.
I met officially met DH at a high school party when he brought me a beer. We are from a small town though so I always “knew” him. We’ve been dating for 14 years and married 5 of those.
We love food so that’s usually our go to date night. Now that we have kids (and I’m a teacher) we also really like to go to a bar or somewhere that no one under the age of 21 can go just so we can have a break from small people.
I met DH through high school friends but not until we were in college. I went to a big college football school so a friend of mine from home really wanted to come to a game and he brought DH with him. The rest is history! We've been together 10 years, married for 6.5.
As far as date nights, we tend to keep things basic. We like going to new restaurants or breweries. If we end up with a "date day" (which are rare with a toddler), we like to go hiking with our dog-she's in my photo!
I met DH at a bar on Valentines in 2009, through mutual friends. He was stupid drunk, but so cute and goofy, and tried dancing on me to the Cupid Shuffle. He had never heard the song before that night and didn't know it was a line dance. Been together ever since. We've been married for 5 years in March.
We do a lot of Disney and theme park dates, and love live music. My love language is Quality Time, so we try and do a date night or spend some time together as much as we can, at least once a month.
We've been together 5 years and married for 3! We met at a bar we were both there with coworkers and were supposed to be there with other dates who stood both of us up! So I'd say it was meant to be
We love food so fave date night involves some kind of yummies. We also love movies, music, and karaoke so that's usually in the mix too. I miss going to concerts, we used to do that a lot more!
Met my DH at college working in the dining commons. We’ve been together 15 years next month, married 9.5. My favorite date night is staying in, sharing a bottle of wine, and watching a movie. We do periodically go out to see comedians, though.
Met my DH on a group hike with a meetup group. We had both recently moved to Colorado and instantly connected. We’ve been together 7.5 years and married for 3.5 years.
Before we had our son our dates would be crazy running adventures in the mountains, plus the occasional dinner out. We haven’t really had a real date since our son was born, almost a year ago! We still do mountain adventures and camping trips with our son, but now we opt for more mellow hikes and just hanging out. We have plans to have my MIL watch our son so we can have a nice dinner out soon.
My freshman roommate in college went to high school with DH. We went to school in Tacoma and he was in Seattle. She was going to see him but didn't want to take the bus (about half an hour) by herself so I went with. (This was 2009.) He had a long distance gf and I didn't look at him that way at all, but he was interested. They broke up at some point and we started talking on FB messenger in 2012 while I was studying abroad in Australia, and started dating that July after I got back. Our five year wedding anniversary is on my due date.
I'd say going to bars/pubs/taverns with good food because we love food and obviously can't go to any of those with DD in tow.
@MJDsquared yes love the fall! We originally wanted 10-12-14 as our anniversary because we love even numbers but that landed on a Sunday and so we went with 10-10-14. Then my daughter was born 3-16-16 and son born 3-19-19 and my due date is 10-20-20. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want that to come true to stick with our double number pattern trend.
We met in high school, so yes high school sweethearts! We have been together 14 years and married for 5 of those.
We love eating and drinking so anything that combines those two things are usually our favorite, so we love breweries or wine tastings with food pairings. Now currently thinking about how those will have to be avoided for quite a while lol!
DH and I met working at the local zoo (summer job for me, summer job turned full-time for him) when I was 17 and he was 21. He was cute and nice, but too old. Fast forward two years, I told him he should take me to a baseball game since he had season tickets, and we've been together ever since. Started dating in '03, got married in '09.
Our favorite date night is going to the theater. We love going to see plays and musicals when they come to town.
I met my partner on Facebook 8 years ago arguing with him over a stupid meme lol. We became best friends immediately afterwards,t I was head over heels crushed and he wasn't quite as obsessed with me for a while. 😂 We've been together for 5 years and engaged for a year+. I know it's cliche but being anywhere with him and doing anything is my favorite, he's my whole world. We're "get indian takeout and cuddle on the couch with 10 blankets and Japanese TV" kind of people though so that's what most of our dates are lol.
We met at work. He’s a paramedic and I’m an EMT. He was married and I had a SO so we were just friends for a lonngg time. He ended up getting divorced, but I still had my SO, then I broke up with my SO, but he was engaged to someone else. We stayed friends. 🤷🏼♀️ Then 5+ years after we met we both ended up single at the same time and decided to give dating a try. I was worried it would ruin our friendship or wouldn’t work out and told me two things. 1. That it could be worth it. And 2. That “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. -Wayne Gretzky. So we went for it. We dated for 2 months and moved in together! Then 3 months after that he proposed! And 2 months later we were married!! 😳🤣 We’ve been married for about 5.5 years and it’s been amazing!! He’s my best friend. ❤️
Date nights are usually dinners out. We like Japanese restaurants or steak houses usually. We also like going to concerts and trivia nights. Most of our dates now are home dates, when we put the kids to bed early, he cooks an amazing meal and we watch something new or play games.
I met my husband at a beer tasting event about 6 years ago. We usually end up going out to brew pubs if in town, but we also travel a lot and so I think of that as more our favorite thing to do together.
@westslopemama I love Colorado! I lived there briefly and I love hiking. Where on the western slopes are you located?
We met outside of a Kmart in Raleigh NC during the State Fair. He rescued me from an awkward pick up attempt and looked less intimidating than the other guy so I let him give me a ride to the fair. We hung out for the rest of the evening and then started dating. We’ve been married for 8 years this year with two boys, two dogs and a cat.
Favorite dates? I’m not picky since they are rare these days. But the last couple we took were hiking and they were really nice.
@fitzfizz I live in Montrose. Moved here from Denver in 2014 and love living in a small town away from all the craziness of the Front Range. Where are you living now?
I’ve lived all over the state. Mostly the northern part. Most my life I’ve been less than an 30 minutes from the CO state line so I love both states so much. Beautiful places!
We met at work. I was waitressing in college and it was his first job out of college as the restaurant manager. There was a strict no fraternization policy so we had to sneak and I eventually quit so we could officially date. We’ve been together 10 years and married almost 8.
We rarely go on dates due to our schedules, but we like to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant when we do.
@westslopemama I actually lived in Montrose for a month for a rotation during training. I loved being that close to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. So pretty out there. I’m living in Louisiana now, but I miss CO so much.
I met DH during my first year in college in TX. I had decided to move out there for school from CA. I ran into him and caused him to drop his phone so I gave him my number so he could call me and I could replace his phone. He did call me and offered to take me out on a date instead of replacing his phone. So I took him up on it and during the date he found out I was 17 and he was 20 so he didn’t call me for another two months until I turned 18. I explained on our next date that during the two month break I decided to move back home to CA. So we stayed friends and texted/talked every day when I moved home. He told me one night he was talking to some girl at a party and I got really jealous and told him I didn’t want to hear about that stuff. About a month later, his friend pushed him to make it official. So we did the long distance thing from 2009-2013 when I finally moved back to TX. We got married in March of 2015 and had our DD in 2016. Sorry that was a super long explanation.
Our favorite date night is going to Alamo Drafthouse and doing dinner and a movie. It’s something we used to do every week before DD but have done a handful of times since her birth.
A friend at work told me he was meeting a bunch of friends at Denny’s and asked if I wanted to go. It was a school night, but I didn’t want to go home so I went anyway. When we got to Denny’s there was only one friend there, and no others showed up. I guess I made a good impression on him because he asked my friend for my number. We officially started dating in December of 2003, we got married Oct 31, 2007.
@babycakesday where in TX do you live? MH was born in San Antonio and went to A&M. We got married in the hill country and we go to TX 2-3 times a year! That's many years of long distance, it's nice to hear when some of those relationships actually work out!
@morethanamama What a coincidence! We live in SA right now. We met at UTSA and DH is from Austin. Hill country weddings are the best. My SIL is getting married in Driftwood this weekend.
@babycakesday my IL are in Boerne! We got married about 20 minutes from their house in the countryside. So pretty. I love visiting there and especially load up on breakfast tacos!!
In true Millenial fashion I met DH online after graduating college. I hadn't reconnected with many friends after moving back home so I joined a dating site to pass time fully not intending on meeting anyone for real. He was the only guy I messaged first and we couldn't stop talking and had so much in common! I only agreed to meet up with him finally because it turned out we had gone to the same high school (3 years apart) and I knew of his family, where he lived, etc. Our first date was at a Hibachi restaurant which is still a pretty favorite date spot of ours!
Our favorite activities to do together include camping and riding scenic railroads. He's a huge nerd for trains (model trains, toy trains, real trains, you name it!) and we love to indulge each others' odd hobbies. We rode Amtrak from Boston to Portland, Oregon on our honeymoon and it was quite the experience.
@ginevere I couldn’t think of a dream date because were exceptionally lazy home bodies. But a scenic train ride sounds amazing! I think that’s my new dream date.
@deaddahliah I definitely would recommend it! Near me there are all sorts of special train rides, too: dinner trains, murder mystery trains, brunch trains! It's an odd, but oddly wonderful way to spend time. We sometimes plan trips around what kind of scenic railroads are in the area because we're crazy.
There’s a murder mystery train they’ve been advertising here lately. It sounds like so much fun and I’ve never been on a train. I worry I’d get motion sick and ruin the trip.
