Baby is the size of a(n): dot snail. teeeeny
Upcoming appointments: Jan 15! An intake one. Not sure if they'll do an u/s
How are you feeling? Nauseous. Tired. Stressed.
Raves/Rants: So glad I busted out the maternity clothes early, but tops look weird because I'm super bloated. I feel like I look obviously pregnant already (probably all in my head but still).
Questions: none
GTKY: Goals for the new year? to control my stress and just let it go (channeling Elsa here)
EDD/weeks+days: 9/20 3w4d but if I ovulated earlier then I may be closer to 4 weeks
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: just had this convo with H last night. I wanted to be green but he thinks we should find out. (If it’s a boy we have to be prepared for really big shoulders because *TW his mom needed a csection to get him out...end TW*
Baby is the size of a(n): baby is definitely a chia seed NOT a poppy seed. Idk why I thought that
Upcoming appointments: none scheduled but I am planning on calling today. So nervous!
How are you feeling? Emotionally: Scared. Physically: pretty good except for the cramping if I do too much
Raves/Rants: I’m relieved that H is being very supportive! Ranting about the fact that our insurance deductible is sky high so we will probably be paying for most of this OOP. I talked to H About using midwives and a birth center but he thinks that’s too risky given the size he was and possible chance of having to be transferred anyway. I researched providers for like 3 hours yesterday and I’m overwhelmed.
Questions: what provider do you use? OB/midwife? I think I want to make a thread about it when we get more friends on here.
GTKY: Goals for the new year? i wanted to get healthier and this baby is a good push for that for sure. Also wanted to go hiking more but we will see about that! Also a better financial situation

Baby is the size of a(n): Don’t know! Mystery baby.
Upcoming appointments: Next Thursday.
How are you feeling? Currently not very good. I woke up pretty nauseated today and just.. blah. Kind of feel like I have a headache but don’t.. just one of those days! Other than that I’ve noticed bloating, heightened sense of smell, night sweats, constipation..
Raves/Rants: We just looked at a house. We liked it, but it’s super overpriced and honestly a bedroom short from what we are hoping for. Guess we will keep looking...
Questions: Anyone currently nursing another child? This nipple pain is something else!
GTKY: Goals for the new year?
Be more mindful of the way I talk about myself/others/things in front of my kids.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: I don't want to find out, but DH doesn't like surprises. Most likely we will know just so we can be prepared.
Baby is the size of a(n): Size of a metal earring back
Upcoming appointments: I'm going to a walk-in clinic today as I don't have a family doctor. (We just moved provinces)
How are you feeling? Fatigued... I can't seem to keep my eyes open at work and find myself falling asleep at my desk.
Raves/Rants: I really wish I could have McDonald's fries... It's all I want and am craving. Unfortunately, my stomach has other plans every time I try to satisfy that craving.
Questions: When is it appropriate to tell your boss? My last pregnancy I was considered high risk because of my blood sugar and spotting and had many appointments to try and work into my schedule. I'm afraid to say anything because I just got offered a promotion which wouldn't start until the end of February.
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Just being healthy. I was just starting to work out to lose some weight, but being bloated and uncomfortable has made it less than encouraging to hit the gym.
I think it would be fun to be team green because this is our last one but we will most likely want to find out because hubs isn’t very patient and I am not really great with surprises.
Baby is the size of a(n):
My little poppyseed.
Upcoming appointments:
I just called this morning and I have an appointment with a new OB February 5th! I am so excited and nervous!
How are you feeling?
Not bad but because I was so sick when I was pregnant with ds feeling ok is making me nervous to be honest.
Raves/Rants:
I am so gosh darned exhausted all day and when I finally fall into bed I am wide awake. I think it is just nerves but it sucks.
Questions:
GTKY: Goals for the new year?
Trying to get on a really good routine for keeping my house in order. It is a challenge with one kiddo and I am already a little overwhelmed by the idea of doing it with 2.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Hubby wanted to be surprised but I just don’t have it in me to wait. So we’ll be finding out!
Baby is the size of a(n): peppercorn
Upcoming appointments: January 30th for our first ultrasound
How are you feeling? Bloated, constipated, otherwise totally normal.
Raves/Rants: We are closing on our house next month (this has been in the works for a while) and my sister just decided to get married. Next month. Across the country from us 🤦🏼♀️
Questions: Anyone showing yet or is it just bloat?? 🤣
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Trying to practice more self care. We have an almost two year old as well and I’ve just struggled feeling lost and overwhelmed for a while. Now I try to get up in the morning, have my coffee, read, and do some yoga before he wakes up. I feel so much better!
Upcoming appointments: I have one booked for the 31st with my high risk doctor, but I'll probably have a viability/monitoring appointment prior to that
How are you feeling? Blah. Not great. I'm tired, have a headache, I can smell everything, I'm forgetful, queasy and crampy
Raves/Rants: I had an elective c section with DS and at my first appointment for the pregnancy I lost, the doctor kind of gave me the side eye for it (I go to an OB clinic which has many different doctors). I'm realllly hoping that doesn't happen again, because I hate having to explain why I chose it.
Questions:
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Get our finances sorted. 2019 was a terrible year for us and we got so behind. We're finally mostly caught up so working to stay that way and start some savings

Upcoming appointments: I’ll schedule one of those soon...
How are you feeling? My kids have had a funky tummy thing, so I’m not sure if I’m fighting that or if this is baby or healthy eating or what, but I’m in the bathroom far more than I’d like to be...
Raves/Rants: not today, but gimme time

How are you feeling? Not too bad.very tired, nauseous most of the day,m nipples are sore AF. Otherwise I'm ok, lol.
Raves/Rants: I'm sitting at my loss milestone today and tomorrow and it's got me extra emotional and anxious. Things seem to be progressing fine though, so I should feel more comfortable by this weekend.
Questions: Nope
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Maintain my run streak to the one year mark, May 27. We'll see how things go!
@yoshi882 tell your boss whenever you feel comfortable with it. I told my principal really early with my first because I was high risk and had a ton of appointments my whole pregnancy. With my second I didn't say anything until the end of summer break. I didn't show too much before school let out for summer so I could stand to wait until I was towards the end of my second tri. This go around I'm leaning towards saying something right after our first ultrasound since I'll have to miss the first few months of school.
@legerm just super bloated! I'm only 5'3" with a short torso and don't carry weight in my midsection, so I always show quite noticeability by like 12 weeks. I'm always shocked by people who can find it until like 20+ weeks!
@yoshi882 I'm basically going to tell my boss as soon as my first appointment is made. I am high risk so I have lots of appointments, especially in the first tri.
@legerm I was small my entire pregnancy with DS (like looked 4 months at 8) so I expect that I'll probably be the same lol

F born June 2018 W born September 2020 #3 due November 2022
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: definitely team green. Team green with our first and loved it.
Baby is the size of a(n): No idea. I haven't been able to focus on that. Just anxious.
Upcoming appointments: Scheduled that today. It will be February 3. I'm trying a new OB this time because I wasn't overly impressed with my previous one.
How are you feeling? I'm mostly anxious. I was having a lot of cramping but that seems to have subsided. I have queasiness which seems to come and go. Also all the bloating and constipation.
Raves/Rants: not really. Grad school starts back up in two weeks and I'm nervous about how I'm going to handle it if the nausea gets as bad as it was with my previous pregnancies.
Questions: None
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Focused on self care. Eating well, getting enough sleep, and taking time for myself
EDD/weeks+days: 3w4d....it seems crazy to know so early
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: green...I was green Witt the twins and I loved the surprise
Baby is the size of a(n): chia seed
Upcoming appointments: haven’t scheduled yet, just moved and need to find a new Ob
How are you feeling? Kinda shocked still with a lot of symptoms...my twins I had no symptoms until 6 weeks
Raves/Rants: nothing today
Questions: nothing yet
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Try not to gain weight (I’m already obese technically and lost 20lbs while pregnant with the twins so I need to keep that streak)
Two Furbabies: Mika (american eskimo) and Gypsy (wire-haired terrier, dachshund mix)
Twins: Kaiden and Zara born 10/2018 conceived after 6 years of infertility via a medicated IUI
@yoshi882 I told my boss earlier this week. I’m a team of one and we need all the time we can get to prep for when I’m out. Also she needs to know in case I do have HG again and need to work remotely for a while.
@legerm bloat for suree over here. I’d prefer it to be bloat instead of actually showing at this point
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: definitely finding out!
Baby is the size of a(n): lady bug
Upcoming appointments: 1/23 for first prenatal and I’m hoping to ask for an ultrasound!
How are you feeling? Tired lately. Boobs are sore. Cramping has pretty much gone away. Honestly not too different than my norm.
Raves/Rants: I hate that most of us have to wait so long for an appointment. It kind of bugs me that for a large portion of some of the most significant weeks of development, we have no guidance on meds/foods/etc except finding stuff on the internet and asking each other! It would make most sense to me to, immediately when you find out you’re pregnant, have an appt with an OB nurse for an informational session and then schedule the prenatal and US appt from there. I don’t even get an US at my first prenatal, I’m going to have to beg for one
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Get our house settled in! We just bought a house and have to redo flooring, paint, redo cabinets, get new furniture... the list goes on. September will be here before we know it!
@maa0629 I understand that frustration. I don't even have a family doctor right now, so I'm really dependent on walk in clinics until I can get a referral to an OB. Even so, I was told by the walk in clinic that they can't do anything until 12 weeks, despite my history. I'm just going off the information I was given last time and keeping an eye on my diet. I hope you get answers soon.
@maa0629 My OB Office offers a class that covers that stuff. Definitely a new thing since my last baby. I think it would be nice to have someone to check in with right away rather than waiting.
Upcoming appointments: Intake/confirmation appointment on 1/21
How are you feeling? Still very grateful and very anxious. And I'm with @brittabatwhite (super tired and then awake for hours) and @legerm (so bloated and definitely thinking that I'm showing, but I'm sure I'm the only one noticing).
Raves/Rants: Rave = maternity pants
Questions: This is my first rodeo... Some of you are mentioning asking for an US at your intake/confirmation appointments. Should I call ahead of time, or ask when I'm there?
GTKY: Goals for the new year? A healthy pregnancy and THB.
@cnf2013 So sorry this sad milestone is looming. Hoping you're feeling better once it passes.
@maa0629 I totally agree with you. I feel like relying on Google is the opposite of what I should be doing right now--I'd love the guidance of a doctor.
@ssbl I would call ahead of time if you’re wanting to get one - they scheduled my US as it’s own appointment separate from my OB visit but they’re back to back. I know everywhere is different but calling ahead might be better 😊
EDD/weeks+days: 9/6, haven't downloaded any apps yet but I think about 6 weeks?
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out, we did team green before and this time I'd like to plan a bit more
Baby is the size of a(n): ?
Upcoming appointments: First week of February, my doc does a dating ultrasound between 7-10 to confirm.
How are you feeling? Way more tired than the first time but nothing else really.
Raves/Rants: I am very salty about the caffeine. I even looked it up on ACOG to see if I could justify more but alas, though it appears there is no evidence of any real issues there is also no evidence of the opposite truly so I will comply.
GTKY: Goals for the new year? I feel like growing a baby is enough.
Baby is the size of a(n): blueberry, lemonhead candy
Upcoming appointments: This Friday 1/17
How are you feeling? constant nausea, bloated, hungry, tired, cramps, RLP, metallic taste, thirsty, strong sense of smell
Raves/Rants: excited to finally have my appointment this week. I can't wait to see the baby.
Questions:
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Getting our house unpacking finished. We just moved from NYC over the holidays, and there are still little odds and ends everywhere. I want to make it more of a home. Also, finding a new church family so DH and I can make some new friends and not feel so isolated here.
@greyl I wouldn't let your worries about having a big baby change the birth plan that you want. A lot birth centers are affiliated with a hospitals, and some hospitals have birth centers attached. If you do have a hospital birth you can still have a midwife in the room during delivery.
My family tends toward big babies and DS was a large baby- almost 10lbs. While the doctors did mention it to me during labor, they just made sure to go slowly with the shoulders. I was able to get him out vaginally with **TW minimal tearing TW**. Just because your MIL had a c-section doesn't mean you will too. Also, maybe the baby will take after your family and could be average size
@Macheno that's very true. DH was 11lbs11oz so I was expecting DS to be large as well. He was only 6lbs4oz when he was born, and went down to 5lbs10oz before we left the hospital. I hardly even had newborn sized clothing so poor kid was swimming in the 0-3 stuff I had for him 😂
Momma to 3 angels and two amazing children
F born June 2018 W born September 2020 #3 due November 2022
@macheno thank you for the insight!! That’s what I was thinking too but of course my H is all worried and wants us to be in a hospital. I was planning on seeing if the birth center takes my insurance and how much we would have to pay OOP and try to go that route anyway. I just want to try to make the best decision! I was small so I’m hoping me + H equals an average sized baby haha
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Definitely finding out. I will do a sneak peek test at 8 weeks. After 2 blue it would be pretty cool if this one was pink.
Baby is the size of a(n): Blueberry
Upcoming appointments: Feb 3rd for viability ultrasound and Feb 7th for intake
How are you feeling? Today is going well thanks to Zofran. Recently very nauseous and lots of retching. Also sore boobs and issues with body temp regulation. I will be freezing one moment and sweating the next. Or my torso will be sweltering and my limbs will be freezing.
Raves/Rants: Having to wait until 9.5 weeks for the first appointment is really hard.
Questions: None right now.
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Almost all money goals this year. Max out H's 403b, start 529 plans for sons, buy a minivan and pay it off, go on a family vacation. As with my other pregnancies, I have the goal to weigh less than my husband throughout the pregnancy and he again has the goal to be able to at least bench press my weight throughout. He is not a very big guy, so both of these goals are iffy.
@greyl I use an OB and delivery at the hospital. I am nervous enough that the hospital I go to doesn't have a NICU. @yoshi882 I am hoping to hold out until closer to 10-12 weeks, but I think it is whenever you feel comfortable. @ssbl A viability ultrasound is routine at my ob between 8-10 weeks. It might be worth a call to find out what ultrasounds are routine at your doc's practice.
@greyl I will be using an OB. I don’t have much of a choice as I will most likely be High risk again.
@chasingroygbiv I’m still nursing and haven’t noticed a difference yet but I’m not even four weeks. DS is only 9 months so I really hope I can nurse for a little bit longer. I would like to get him to 12 months but I’m not sure how likely that is. No experience with this.
Ivy: July 2010 | Stella: Dec 2012 | BFP#3: MMC at 11Wk's, July 2017 | Wyatt: April 2019 | BFP#5: Twin Girls due Sept 2020
Regarding ultrasounds my OB’s office has a little machine and does a quick check at your first appointment to check dating. No extra appointment or anything. Any other ultrasounds like the NT scan and Anatomy are done at the ultrasound dept and scheduled separately.
First time moms, I suggest just asking if they will do an ultrasound at your first visit when you call to make your Appt. The receptionist will generally know their procedures. And check online to see if your OB/clinic/hospital has information about medications you can take or info about when to call the office with problems.
Ivy: July 2010 | Stella: Dec 2012 | BFP#3: MMC at 11Wk's, July 2017 | Wyatt: April 2019 | BFP#5: Twin Girls due Sept 2020
With my last pregnancy, they did an intrauterine ultrasound at my first appointment. I'm not sure what it will be like this time since this is a new city and new doctor for me. Most doctors won't see patients until at least 8 weeks and won't do ultrasounds until then because there isn't much to see.
Baby is the size of a(n): I have no clue 😬 this is my third pregnancy, so I’m definitely not obsessing about these kid of things like I did with my first
Upcoming appointments: January 23rd
How are you feeling? Okay, just really tired
Raves/Rants: I’m stuck cleaning my house for my husbands friends who are arriving tomorrow for a few days while my husband is doing almost nothing 😭
I decided to talk to one coworker who I can trust and that I work with most often. It made the past few days easier as I kept being called a grouch, but it also helps when I have to make unexpected runs to the bathroom.
EDD/weeks+days: Sept 19th, 4w5d (side note, this is so early, I feel like it was months ago I got my BFP, but I guess not 🤷🏼♀️)
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: DH and I are still discussing, but I think Team Finding Out
Baby is the size of a(n): between an poppyseed and an apple seed
Upcoming appointments: ultrasound 1/21
How are you feeling? Nervous, but starting to let myself get more excited. We decided to tell my mom last night. With my previous losses we never told her about the pregnancies but then I needed her support with the loss. I thought I was protecting her by not saying anything, but she was really glad we told her and said it wasn’t going to hurt her any more or less to know earlier, and was really happy to know.
Raves/Rants: I went to a work dinner an everyone was drinking. I spoke to the waitress and asked her if she could bring me seltzer with a lime and pretend it was a vodka tonic. She seemed totally on board but then through the dinner she kept coming and just refilling my glass from a Perrier bottle... sort of blew my cover.
Questions: nope
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Stick baby stick! Also looking to be a little more proactive at work and start building my resume for the next career stage.
EDD/weeks+days: September 9th. Originally September 11th so I'm at 6 weeks and 1 day
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: I think team Green We have a boy and a girl so I'm thinking we're going to keep this baby a surprise!
Baby is the size of a(n): Sweet Pea
Upcoming appointments: next Tuesday, January 21st I believe my OB will be doing a dating ultrasound.
How are you feeling? I was feeling great, but yesterday I started some serious nausea and heartburn... It almost feels like my stomach has nothing in it and it's burning.. so I go to eat and the feeling doesn't go away. It almost makes it worse!!
Raves/Rants: I'm so uncomfortable with my pudge belly. My grandmother and mom keep saying, "I can't believe you're showing already." I love them, but it's just bloat and I can't suck it in! It's impossible.
We also have twins in the family and EVERYONE is praying for twins - especially my mom. I'm just getting annoyed. We already have two children and I'm not trying to sound rude, but twins?! Stop. I'm just hoping for a healthy baby. Although, whatever we have it will be fine, but stop praying for it!
Questions: What are your tips and tricks for nausea and/or heartburn?
GTKY: Goals for the new year. Happy, healthy baby and family!
Upcoming appointments: Not yet...really need to call the midwife and set up an appt.
How are you feeling? Great, only symptoms are exhaustion and incredibly sore boobs.
Raves/Rants: When I get hungry, I go from not hungry, to STARVING. It's intense and I can't get food fast enough. It's pretty frustrating especially at work.
Questions: Is the above normal??
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Focusing on eating healthy and still working out during pregnancy. Still budgeting really strictly to meet our financial goals and to pay cash for baby.
@almiller86 I didn't have nausea last time so I had to figure out quickly how to deal with it. Lemon water has helped if I'm nauseous while eating so I'm able to eat a decent size meal. Also, really cold stuff- frozen yogurt and frozen fruit. I put green grapes in the freezer or get the bags for frozen mixed fruit without sugar. Those little mandarin oranges are great, too. I've heard ginger works-tea or candies, but haven't tried them. For heartburn I lived on mint flavored tums. It was more cooling on my throat than the fruit flavor. Unfortunately it lasts a while. I used to get it even when my stomach was empty, and I had during and after my labor with DS.
@mcano1016 Yeah, the hunger is really real! I've just been trying to anticipate when I'll be hungry and have a snack or meal ready before the hunger hits. If I wait until I'm starving, I usually get nauseous and end up not being able to eat a full meal which perpetuates the hunger cycle.

Questions: Nope
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Maintain my run streak to the one year mark, May 27. We'll see how things go!
@legerm I was small my entire pregnancy with DS (like looked 4 months at 8) so I expect that I'll probably be the same lol

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out
Baby is the size of a(n): Apple seed
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Definitely finding out again
Baby is the size of a(n): BB pellet
Upcoming appointments: February 7th
How are you feeling? good! waiting for the exhausting and nausea to hit!
Raves/Rants: My husband just started a new job after 9 months of not working... that is adding good and bad stress to our lives.

Questions:
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Getting our house unpacking finished. We just moved from NYC over the holidays, and there are still little odds and ends everywhere. I want to make it more of a home. Also, finding a new church family so DH and I can make some new friends and not feel so isolated here.
*edited for spelling
My family tends toward big babies and DS was a large baby- almost 10lbs. While the doctors did mention it to me during labor, they just made sure to go slowly with the shoulders. I was able to get him out vaginally with **TW minimal tearing TW**. Just because your MIL had a c-section doesn't mean you will too. Also, maybe the baby will take after your family and could be average size

Baby is the size of a(n): chia seed

How are you feeling? Tired and crampy so far.
Raves/Rants: I have an awful headache today and annoyed I can't take Ibuprofen. Tylenol just doesn't work as well
Questions: Nope
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Get rid of stuff. We will have to move at some point with baby coming. We have completely outgrown our current place.
Team Finding Out
Baby is the size of a(n): I have no clue 😬 this is my third pregnancy, so I’m definitely not obsessing about these kid of things like I did with my first
Upcoming appointments: January 23rd
How are you feeling? Okay, just really tired
Raves/Rants: I’m stuck cleaning my house for my husbands friends who are arriving tomorrow for a few days while my husband is doing almost nothing 😭
Questions:
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Financial Dtability
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: I'm pretty positive we'll find out. We're planners.
Baby is the size of a(n): Sweet Pea
Upcoming appointments: Not yet...really need to call the midwife and set up an appt.
How are you feeling? Great, only symptoms are exhaustion and incredibly sore boobs.
Raves/Rants: When I get hungry, I go from not hungry, to STARVING. It's intense and I can't get food fast enough. It's pretty frustrating especially at work.
Questions: Is the above normal??
GTKY: Goals for the new year? Focusing on eating healthy and still working out during pregnancy. Still budgeting really strictly to meet our financial goals and to pay cash for baby.
