Randoms Week of 1/6/20

Let's get this board going - as much as we can without it being pinned, at least!

I was nauseous all last night and all day today (so far). I had hyperemesis gravidarum during my pregnancies with my girls, and the odds are I'm going to have it again. Which I've planned for but doesn't make it really any better (in fact, maybe worse because I know what's coming). Hoping I'm wrong, but I'm in blah mood today anyways.

Also, I've been in maternity jeans since last week. I just am not going to fight it, I'm not buying larger regular clothes and.......... I just don't care. Bring it on, bloat.

  • I recently lost about 20 lbs and didn't get more pants yet so all of my pants are already quite large lol.
I'm trying to find daycare for DS and finding it difficult. Not that there's not spots available, but that I'm super picky. We had him at a private daycare which was in a private home. We went to one today and it was just super institutionalized compared to where he was and turned me right off.

  • @chasingroygbiv the bloat is so, so real. I'm sorry about the smells and hunger issue! I also was up to pee all night long - one of the things I dislike the most, it always seems to hit right when I'm super comfortable.

@mflowers929 it's so hard to find a daycare that's a good fit. Especially coming from another. I hope you find one you like, quickly and it's stress free!

  • @loko08 thanks. Luckily DH works opposite shift from me so DS stays with him and I don't miss work, but DH gets cranky if it goes on for too long (he gets home at about 2 AM and I get up at 6 AM)

  • So far I haven’t had much going on symptom wise other than sore boobs and feeling exhausted which might be because of work lately and having to do 24 hour shifts. The lack of symptoms honestly makes me a little concerned but I’m trying to not let it bother me. With my previous pregnancies I had really bad morning sickness but it didn’t start until the 2nd trimester and lasted until delivery basically. I have some Zofran on standby just in case though.
  • The nausea for me has been the worst. I work and live in a high rise apartment where there's a lot of students and the smells... Every floor is a new challenge to say the least. I was on vacation all last week while my brother was visiting from out of town, but now that I'm back at work I'm thinking it's going to be a challenge hiding some of my symptoms from my coworkers. Only concern with this is that my fiance and I both were just offered a promotion and then the week after we accepted is when we found out about the little peanut. I've been told not to worry, which is what I'm trying to do...

And bloat, yeah... Yoga pants are a staple at the moment.

@loko08 oh no I hope you get lucky and dont get HG this time!
@yoshi882 I can imagine the smells are insane in an apartment building that big! Congrats on the promotions! That’s exciting. It’s definitely a lot of change though!
Yesterday at work I really noticed I’d be crampier the more physical work I was doing. (Which sucks because my job is a physical one) I tried not doing any heavy lifting and when I had to bend down I would be more careful. I really hate the feeling of cramping because even though I know it’s normal I am scared I’m going to overdo it! :( so my fatigue has mainly been my muscles and getting out of breath easily instead of feeling like I could fall asleep. But I’m sure that is coming soon! I’m glad I haven’t used my gift cards from Christmas yet because I can use some of them towards new jeans because I can almost guarantee I will need new ones in a few weeks. My jeans are tight as it is just from gaining regular weight.
I told H last night. I didn’t want to tell him right before he had to go to work so I just waited until he got home. He was sweet about it! And then switched over the Insurance so I should be able to start looking for providers :)
    edit: spacing
  • @greyl I’ve also noticed some cramping. Always a little nerve wracking. Constipation has hit as well, so that always adds to my discomfort!  :s
  • @greyl yup, cramping with exertion is the most disconcerting thing. For me it just got worse with DS which made my work difficult

  • @chasingroygbiv Five pee sleep interruptions is intense!

@mflowers929 Hope you find the right spot for DS!

@runnermom04 I have no nausea whatsoever and that's worrying me too. I guess it's hard to avoid stuff to worry about though, right?

I'm so glad other people are feeling as bloated as I am (not that I want you to be bloated lol, but just so I have a sense of what's normal, because I have no clue). I wore my pants unbuttoned all day at work today and it was glorious. After work I picked up a few pairs of maternity pants, which seems insane since I'm not even five weeks yet... I'm so hesitant/worried about putting the cart in front of the horse this early in a pregnancy, but I figured I have to at least make myself comfortable.
  • @chasingroygbiv oh yes I just had my first experience with the constipation today. Hoping it doesn't get too bad!

@mflowers929 yeah definitely! For now at work i'm pretending I just can't lift stuff and asking for help. I'm pretty weak in general so no one has really noticed yet thankfully!

@ssbl I feel you on not wanting to put the cart before the horse. But then I think if everything works out I will be mad that I waited. Being comfortable is key!
  • Do we want to do a "Read This First" type stickied post like the other BMBs? I like the idea of having specific threads that we do weekly/monthly but it doesn't have to be super strict unless that's the majority rule. We can make a post and then decide which threads we do/don't want. What are y'alls thoughts?
  • @greyl Ugh, it’s horrible for me every time! During one pregnancy I went 13 days. 13 DAYS without going!  :open_mouth:

    Yes to stickied posts!
  • @chasingroygbiv ohhhhh that sounds like a nightmare!! i'm scared now lol!
Okay I will post it and we can decide what kind of organization we want here as more people join!
  • One of the best things about being a SAHM is that I basically live in lounge wear already! lol
  • My doctor decided to retire from the OB part of her practice right after my son was born and now I have all of the fun of finding a new doctor which I probably should have started in on when we first started trying. I'm so nervous about having a new doctor...
  • On a random note: I accepted a new position before I found out I was pregnant. I had to go for a drug screen on Tuesday and it just came back as negative dilute and they kinda yelled at me... lol I feel like a bad person right now! and PS I have nothing to hide!

I always drink a lot of water while pregnant and I guess I drank too much before the test. I have 1 business day to try again and if it comes up as negative dilute, I will 'not meet hiring eligibility" and they will basically take back my offer. They did say "If there is a medical reason why you would need to consume more liquids than that, then please advise the lab." but I don't think this is considered a medical reason to consume water? IDK

I guess I just drink a little bit and try to go in the morning first thing? I'm so scared it's going to be diluted and they retract my offer. Sheesh!!

  • @almiller86 would the lab keep the reason as confidential? If so, I'd tell them because I can't imagine pregnancy isn't a valid reason...

But I definitely don't work in HR and could be totally wrong

    <BabyFetus Ticker >
  • @almiller86 - wow! how much water are you drinking??
  • @loko08 I'm going to ask them the next time I go for sure. Either way, just in case it does come back I have a valid reason as to why. It's funny because I do work in HR and I know that sometimes people have a diluted specimen but we'll just send them back if need be. Not threaten to take away an offer is it comes back dilute the second time lol.

@31magnolia - I know! it depends but I try to drink like 30-45 oz in the morning and 30-45 oz in the afternoon. In my prior pregnancy, I thought I was drinking enough water but at 22 weeks I actually started having contractions due to dehydration and I was almost admitted. Luckily some IVs in the ER I was fine, but now I'm a bit of a freak about my water consumption during pregnancy. My husband is too - he will literally bring me water multiple times a day.
  • This morning as I was topping my scrambled egg with tajin seasoning and sour cream my DH came in and (in a way that felt super judgey) asked me if I even needed to take the pregnancy test.  :#

@almiller86 I bet it was 100% just too much water diluted the sample. How rude of them to be cross with you about it!
  • One of the best things about being a SAHM is that I basically live in lounge wear already! lol
    Yup!
  • Feeling sooo miserable since I got up today. Wasn’t sure my poor kids would even get breakfast. Ugh! I’m just now going to attempt to eat breakfast.

A salad and a bagel with butter......... :# because that’s all that sounded good.
  • We had to put in a new kitchen sink faucet and it turned into a 24 hour ordeal with 4 trips to the hardware store for DH. He thinks our next house won’t have issues like this... haha.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • @CarbAddict thanks for checking in! I went again on Friday first thing in the morning with only having a little bit of tea. My urine was yellow so I think that's a good thing lol. Results today. I did also tell the lab in case, but I'm not sure she made note of it as she mentioned the sample didn't' look diluted at all. I'm waiting patiently to give my job notice lol. I'm supposed to start next Monday, but my current job will basically just walk me off sight even if I give them a full 2 weeks' notice.
  • Is anyone else getting the earwax removal ad popping up on their browser? I haven't had any nausea yet, but if I have to keep seeing this ad, I definitely will.
  • I'm super frustrated. I called on the 3rd to try to set up an appointment for my first ultrasound, like I was told to do as soon as I got a positive, and was told that the secretary was on vacation and would be back today so to call back. I called 3 times today and no answer. I finally left a message but nobody called me back. If nobody calls by noon tomorrow I'm going to be blowing up the phone until I get someone on it.

    That’s disgusting and I’m glad I haven’t seen it!

  • Anyone else dealing with intense night sweats? My gosh, they’re as bad as postpartum. Any ways to get through the night not waking up freezing from being soaked? Is this normal? I always deal with it after having a baby, but this is the first I’ve noticed it during pregnancy (this is my 7th pregnancy).
  • Same here to all you ladies experiencing the bloat. It is soo real this time around. I was not this bloated last time. I've been wearing my maternity jeans already. Also the nausea is really bad this time. I guess I was just lucky last time since I barely had it with my last pregnancy. It's on and off all day long in varying degrees depending on if I'm hungry or not. I'll get hungry and the minute I eat I get nauseous after a few bites. Last night was worst I have it. DH made dinner for himself because I was already too nauseous to want anything. I could smell his food and and I threw up for the first time since i've been pregnant. I'm scared of what the next weeks will be like since I know the morning sickness peaks at 9-10 weeks. The only saving grace is that my nausea is the worst at night. If it was that bad during the day while I'm taking care of DS I don't know what I would do.

@chasingroygbiv I get night sweats. Right after my BFP I had them for a week or two. It was same with DS. I tend to run very hot during my luteal phases- I average over 99 degrees sometimes 100 degrees.

@mflowers929 I'm sorry your doctor's office is giving you the run-around. Are you established with this doctor, or are you a new patient? If they keep making you wait I would maybe look into finding someone else.

@almiller86 Wow! That's crazy! I've heard of having to take a drug screen for jobs before, but I didn't know they would retract offers for diluted urine samples. I would them know you're pregnant just it's diluted again. Have you taken the test again?

  • @macheno it's a bit different where I am. There's 2 hospitals in my city and every doctor works with one of them. To get the most efficient care, I go to the hospital that my family doctor is associated with, which has clinics and not individual doctors.
I actually already have my appointment for the OB clinic, but they won't see me until closer to 12 weeks. The doctor I'm trying to reach is one who has a miscarriage clinic and works in another area of the hospital.
It's frustrating, but really all I can do is keep calling, or if worse comes to worse call my family doctor so he can find out what's going on.

  • @chasingroygbiv me! Sometimes I wake up so hot it’s insane. Especially since I’m usually cold going. To bed so I wear a sweatshirt and then I wake up in the middle of the night sweating. I know they sell cooling sheets and I think pillows stuff but that would require an investment for maybe feeling a bit cooler at night I’m sorry :(

AFM, I’ve noticed my hunger comes in super fast (way more than normal) and if I don’t eat immediately it feels like I haven’t eaten in days. Super inconvenient at work when I can’t just eat a snack if we are busy.
also I had my first run in with my emotions getting the best of me. A doordash driver was making some rude comments to one of my crew members I(about me) because he had to wait a few extra minutes (the order wasn’t even due for another 10 min anyway and I was helping another customer that just walked in) so when I gave him the food I went off on him and it turned into an argument and I’m mad I even said anything but it ended fine I guess. I just had to tell him what he said was not appropriate and that I didn’t appreciate him saying it! I was so angry I definitely almost cried!
  • @greyl It’s annoying and feels so gross. We switch our sheets daily because I’m sweating that much. Yuck.

Also dealing with the sudden hunger. I go from zero appetite to feeling famished. Yesterday I literally hovered over my husband while he made lunch. HA! Quicker buddy, I’m about to pass out over here even though I wasn’t hungry at all 10 minutes ago!  :D
  • @chasingroygbiv yes exactly!! I could have taken an early break yesterday but I wasn’t hungry at all. Then by 6 I was STARVING and I work with food so it’s extra torture!!
