I still highly recommend bringing into the living room and sitting on or against it for a while to help break it in. Like @shamrocandroll I too put the top aside and use my regular pillow.
I’ve never liked the pregnancy pillows. I’ve tried a few. A good squishy pillow for under the belly, a nice firm pillow for between the knees and a nice thick pillow for behind the back. Clearly I collect pillows of different varieties.
The squishy pillow is key for me. I don’t really get much of a belly going until the end so I need something that can get pretty flat to comfortably rest my stomach.
It was definitely good for my back/hips/etc. but it was sooooooo hot. It’s definitely not any worse than what I had going on before. I did get a jersey knit cover. I feel like I’m always hot in pregnancy. My husband always wakes up and asks why the fan is on. I guess it’s not hot to anyone else.
@pirateduck Is the Jersey knit cover 100% cotton? I'm always amazed at how big of a difference 100% cotton makes. But yeah, my first pregnancy was the opposite time of year and I was SO HOT while sleeping. I had the AC cranked down to like 65.

I really like the jersey knit cover over the one it came with. I don't get overheated, but we keep our temp pretty low at night, sometimes I just sleep with the sheet. Meanwhile DH has the sheet, the comforter, a fleece tie blanket, and another blanket.
