I have my A/S tomorrow and then an appointment with my doctor on the 7th. I didn't have a 12 week scan so haven't seen baby since she was a little bean...
DD #1: April 2017 DD #2: May 2020 Baby #3: EDD May 2023; MC October 2022
AS is 1/6 and my visit is right after. It feels like it’s dragging to get there, I want to see this baby and find out what it is so I can call it by name and not baby 😂
AFM, my next appointment is Jan 24 for my 24 week check up. I am trying to get in today for a quick check though. DD did a standing free fall onto my belly while I was sitting on the couch on Tuesday night, I still am not too sure about movement because of the anterior placenta so of course my anxiety is just going crazy. I'm sure everything is fine, I just need the peace of mind.
@splashmountain I also have an anterior placenta, I feel like the last 3 (maybe more) times I was at the doctor they asked if I felt movement, my answer was always no. Them asking of course made me think I should be feeling movement at that point even though the doctors never seemed concerned. I finally started feeling consistent movement between 20 and 21 weeks. There were a few times before that I thought I felt something. The fact that my indigestion has improved has helped me be able to distinguish as well.
Another thing I want to mention to those that have not had the AS yet, one thing I wasn't expecting but was happy to learn (so ask if you doctor doesn't mention it) was they talked about the position of the placenta, amount of amniotic fluid, position of baby etc. So for example I have an anterior placenta, but they also look at it in relation to the cervix because if it's close or obstructing the cervix it needs to be watched. Also they look at where the umbilical cord inserts into the placenta, among other things. They look at your ovaries if they can be seen. Essentially they look at everything down there, not just the baby, because it's all important in some way.
Just had my A/S. She walked us through most of the body but said a radiologist would interpret the images and give a report to my dr. Things looked good from what I could tell. She said baby is about 11 oz. Right now she's breech.

I am going to the dentist shortly. I hate the dentist. My last appointment was kinda rough, but no major problems. This is just a quick recheck on something from last time. I am still dreading it.
I was able to get in for a quick check. She got the heartbeat right away with the Doppler, but only for a few seconds and he moved, then she was having trouble getting it again, but eventually found it. Everything is good!
I just signed up for my breastfeeding class. Next Wednesday. The next one after that isn't until late March so, even through it's closer to edd, I took this one so I know I'll be able to make it
Our A/S was yesterday, other than being a stinker about letting us see his face we got all the shots we need. The leg measurement was long but the doctor looked at DF and went well I guess your height genes are strong. Appointment went fine after and todays fall appointment was good, they even said if I am still nervous to come back in for another check tomorrow but I don't really want to keep going in since everything is fine so far.
@splashmountain I was just looking at classes after my appointment today and was wondering if it was too early to sign up! Which reminds me I have a question for you all but I'll stick that on another thread.
@catem07 glad they could still get you in this week!
My pregnancy hormones have caused a mole on my back to quadruple in size and turn different colors so it has to be removed tomorrow in a derm appt. since it looks so funky. Everyone keep an eye on skin changes! Anatomy scan Friday, but it feels like just a formality since the Trips have already been checked plenty of times. I’m booked for a three hour scan though so I told them they will have to let me eat during! Fetal Echo next Wednesday-anyone else getting one of these? It sounds similar to the anatomy scan only with the cardiologist instead? Would love to hear if anyone has been through it.
Had my A/S today! Everything looked good. There were a few things she couldn't check because he never stopped moving, so I have another u/s at my next appt. She did find a cyst on my left ovary, but OB isn't worried about it causing issues and they'll keep an eye on it. I also found out that I failed my 1 hr glucose test and no one followed up with me, so I have to take the 3 hr this week. My veins suck, and the bruise from the draw 4 weeks ago is still there. FX I can pass it and my veins will cooperate.
@thepretzelchick Really?!? How did NO ONE tell you that you failed the 1 hour?!? That’s so annoying. So sorry that you have to deal with the 3 hour test. Fingers crossed all goes well with that
@jkr2019 I have the fetal echocardiogram the week after next. the test itself didn't sound like a big deal but I have to do it in the hospital where I had my AS instead of in my doctor's office. I am not looking forward to that because during my AS the doctor was literally banging on my belly with the transducer trying to get one of the babies to move. it hurt and felt really disrespectful. hopefully I'll get a different doctor for the echo.
@thepretzelchick sorry about the glucose test! I failed my 1 hour during my first pregnancy but passed the 3 hour, I think that happens a lot although it's not a lot of fun. pretty unprofessional that they didn't let you know though.
I feel like I can’t stay out of the OB lately. My bp was only slightly elevated two weeks ago and they upped my meds to three times a day. They want me to go ahead and do a 24hr urine catch as a baseline when nothing is wrong which I’m ultimately thankful for because I’m hoping that will prevent hyperbole in the future, but I also am dreading doing it because I hate them. Well bp was better last Friday when they checked it and did a ton of blood work that was all normal but they’re still making come back yet again for another recheck this Friday. I’ve been monitoring at home and it’s more than fine so if they mention another recheck next week I’m prepared to refuse because it’s a big ole hassle to take my kids to the doctor every week particularly when it’s not necessary. It interferes with their schedule, they get irrational and impatient, and it’s stressful for me especially when the doctor is just being unnecessarily cautious. THEN I have a specialist appointment next Monday. The specialist is supposed to be the one monitoring my bp so I don’t know what that will be like considering how much over attention the regular ob is giving it. Hopefully a quick appointment. Finally, then I need to schedule my 1hr glucose appointment and I’m really stressed about that because I need to find someone to stay with the kids while I do that because they’d definitely be miserable for that appointment. Just too many appointments right now and too early for this kind of thing. They always make me crazy at the end like this but we’ve got to back off right now for sure.
@Austenista I would maybe call your nurse and see if there's anyway some of this can be combined so it's less visits for you. If you could do most of it in one day and call it good it might help and you could just find childcare for a day or half a day or whatever it ends up being.
For now I am in kinda in the clear, which would mean I get less doctor's appointments finally, however, now I'm at the stage of pregnancy when they start to ramp up the frequency of appointments. So I guess that's not happening for me either, then I've scheduled things like dentist and taking the dog to vet in between OB appointments. I guess this is just life now that we are pregnant!
@thepretzelchick I also failed the one hour and passed the three hour. Not the best they didn’t let you know, though! FX it goes well and they can get the blood they need. They ended up having to do veins in my hands because they couldn’t get blood after the first draw or two from my arm and that was no fun, but I survived
@Austenista could you offer to call them or message them with your home results on a regular basis or something? Home results should be just as good as office results I would think. My office let me send in a few blood pressures to reassure them when I had a high pressure reading. And if not, I agree with @pirateduck that they should at least try to consolidate up some of this so it’s the same morning or afternoon.
@pirateduck & @adventuresawait2 this is a new OB office this pregnancy than I've had for the other two so I'm still learning them. I do know a lot about pre-e and high blood pressure during pregnancy because this is my third rodeo navigating it. I did call and ask them to consolidate my 24hr catch with this Friday appt. Originally they had me doing the catch this past Sunday and bringing it to them on Monday and then coming in for a recheck on Friday. I got home and was thinking, "why can't I just do all of that on Thursday/Friday?" and called them back and asked could I. Thankfully, they agreed.
In the past, my other OB has started getting "micromanagy" in the third trimester as my BP starts rising as it inevitably always does. But yeah, I've got two kids I'm responsible for full time and so we're going to have to have a serious discussion about how it's not feasible for me to be there all the time toward the end unless something is actually going on. And to be clear, nothing is right now. I had one elevated but not high reading two weeks ago, they upped my medication, and I responded well. My bp this morning was 124/67. They did a big panel of bloodwork and literally everything came back normal. So for now, it's for sure time to call off the dogs and leave me be. I'm hoping they'll agree when I see them on Friday and if they don't, I'll just have to push back, but I'll be surprised if it comes to that.
Just got back from my anatomy scan. Team Pink confirmed!!! I'm over the moon excited. baby looked good, and we got a really funny ultrasound photo of her making a #1 sign with her hand.
Just had another Centering appointment/class, all well, a new woman joined our group, which is great, however I learned my midwife is moving and this was the last appointment I will have with her! I'm a bit upset about it. They have not hired anyone new at the practice yet, so hopefully they have some more staff by the time delivery rolls around, but this is disappointing to say the least.
@pirateduck I'm sorry you're losing your midwife without a replacement. are you thinking of using a personal doula at all? I was just thinking I might try to find one.
@allie456 I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I really like my OB at the practice so I won’t be going anywhere different. My next class will be with the other OB who I haven’t met yet, so I hope I like her too. Now there isn’t a CNM at the practice at all so I’m not sure how that might change things. We just get whoever is on call at delivery time anyway. A doula is a good idea for consistency if nothing else. I might look into it.
I just finished my Baby Care Basics class (next class is breastfeeding in two weeks). Overall it was good and a lot of information that will preoccupy my thoughts for the next few weeks. The only thing is that I was the only one whose partner didn’t show up. It’s basketball season and DH is a coach so he usually works late. For some reason, there are very few classes being offered within 40 miles of my house so I just booked the first available class. It turns out that DH’s practice was cancelled and he theoretically could’ve made it but he would’ve missed half of it after the 60 mile commute in traffic to the class from work. I know he would’ve been there but I still felt extremely singled-out and awkward (pun intended). The teacher played the role as my partner.
DH will have to read my notes and do his own homework.
@Austenista hope you can figure out a good plan with the doctors that will work for you! I know practices can differ a lot in terms of how they handle things.
@drkoyya I had the opposite at one of my classes, my husband was the only man in the room. Awkward. I don’t make him come to every class now (we have both been to soooo many appointments the past 3 years) So now we decide based on what the appointment entails or what the subject of the class is. He came for my amnio and my AS, but skipped a regular checkup. Skipped the class about nutrition, but will attend things like infant care, labor and delivery, and the hospital tour. You just have to do what works best for you and your family. Scheduling can be difficult.
Had my post A/S appt today. All looks good. One of the radiologist notes was “unremarkable” hah. I have an anterior placenta which is why I’m not feeling much.

My anatomy scan went well. They couldn’t get baby c to turn in the right position to get spinal pictures so we’ll have to try again next time, but they said considering all the images they needed to collect on three babies they were thrilled that we got as much as we did. My stats are still looking really good in terms of equal fluid levels, equal fetus size, cervix holding on strong. They called me the “poster child of triplet moms” because my scans are looking so good! So I’m trying to hold onto that and not be anxious. I’ve been having some funny heart things happen so I am getting an EKG this month now as well. They said it just happens in triplet pregnancies because of such high blood levels but they want to double check make sure it’s nothing else.
@allie456 I have my fetal echo Wednesday so I’ll let you know if there are any surprises. Happy to read about all the other good scans we’ve had in this group this month! Way to go mamas!
I've been kinds absent for a while - but the holiday craziness is finally starting to clear. I had to switch insurance to Kaiser - so I changed my OB right before my anatomy scan. After calling Kaiser the first week of December I thought I had everything set for my anatomy scan Jan 3 and easy transition. Welp...show up Jan 3 and they had me down for a "pregnancy planning" appointment. I was pretty frustrated because I really wanted the anatomy scan taken care of before going back to school so I wouldn't have to take off work at the very beginning of the semester. But luckily I was able to at least meet the OB and he did a bedside ultrasound just to check up on baby. We talked about VBAC a little and he was super negative and kinda didn't seem to understand why a woman would WANT to have a vaginal birth...it was disheartening to say the least..
I then had to go to a random appointment on Jan 6 with a NP to get all my stats and just talk about Kaiser stuff..she was thankfully really great and eased a lot of my anxieties from the OB who I found out that I won't even see until baby is birthed..so I guess it doesn't matter. All my next appointments are scheduled with NPs b/c only high risk pregnancies have their monthly appointments with the actual OB. And it seems like my chances of delivering the baby with my assigned OB are 50/50 so I'm just kinda rolling with it... But the NP was way more supportive of a VBAC and she shared a lot of good info with me and so that was nice
I did end up getting in for my Anatomy Scan on the 9th and it went well - baby looks great and checked out on all measurements. He was pretty curled up so we didn't get any good profile pics, but everything is back on track!
I kinda hate my boss for making the switch to Kaiser...but it is what it is..

I'm so excited to see her again! Hopefully confirm it is actually a her and maybe confirm if I'm feeling movement (really hard for me to tell).
I'm loving all the US from everyone with their AS now!
