In the past week, I’ve had a lot more cramping (round ligament pain) which is apparently common at 16/17 weeks. I had some chest pain too that has subsided. It didn’t feel like heartburn, but very uncomfortable.
So I finally caved in and bought new bras- my back feels SO MUCH better. I went up a size so it was def needed. @runwmusic thank you for suggesting that might be the reason for my shoulder pain. You were right!!!
I’ve been feeling Round ligament pain on one side only! Like on and off.. Is that weird? Also, I’ve noticed whenever I bend over I pee a little! Do I need to do more kegals? Overall, I’ve been feeling great in the 2nd trimester.. I will be 18 weeks tomorrow!
15w4d and the nausea is back with a vengeance this week. I work in slaughterhouses and the smells haven’t bothered me until now 🙃 haven’t thrown up yet but boy has it been close today.
also been having some round ligament pains and on New Year’s Eve I had growing pains in my legs like I’m 12 again lol.
Any solutions for dry and flaking skin on my chest? It's so bad I scratched cuts :-( I've been putting moisturizer on them but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick.

@horsesmeetbaby I use bio oil on my belly and anything super dry. It's pretty oily (obviously, it's oil) but it hydrates my skin like nothing else will.
Anybody else craving things from their childhood? Like I could kill for my noni’s spaghetti, her salad (which I’ve been making daily but it’s never quite the same), and homemade canned peaches. I had a full on breakdown to my mom last week - I got so emotional that she’s dead and I can’t show up there for dinner because her cooking is literally all that I want. And she’s been gone since I was like 9 years old.
My mom does make the spaghetti pretty much spot on and it’s been my favourite food my entire life. But I don’t think I’ve eaten canned peaches since I was like 8/9 and these store bought ones are just not cutting it 😂
Last night I untangled my hair.... I think I took half my hair out! It has been getting so matted lately. Also I have been getting bad dandruff. I know I need to change my hair products but not sure to what.
@bbluemoo I craved my grandmothers ropa vieja with rice and beans and pico. I made the ropa vieja myself but it wasnt the same. I didnt even bother with the beans because NO ONE makes the beans like her. My mom tries but it just isnt right. You definitely are the only one.
@lizanet I had horrible dry scalp with my first and it was flaky and so gross. I got a shampoo at target specifically for dry scalp and it helped. I can’t remember what it was called but maybe try something like that?
@bbluemoo I definitely crave childhood favorites when I'm pregnant. Both with DS1 and now with this one. Most of those cravings are not allowed on my restricted diet, but the ones I have indulged in were sadly not as awesome as I remembered. At least once in each pregnancy I've convinced myself that I want beef stroganoff, and then I make it and I can't even eat a serving and DH is stuck with it for days. 😂
I've been eating a lot of pan fried cabbage this time, which is sort of okay when I'm not pregnant but inexplicably AMAZING to me right now. Fried with onions and butter and some salt and caraway seeds. My mom used to make it when I was a kid and I hated it, but it's become comfort food as I get older. 🤷♀️
@lizanet - I had that a couple years ago. My hairdresser says it can happen with season change (humidity and static change). She gave me a bottle of It's a 10 leave in spray. It's amazing and I've repurchased since. I also sleep on a satin pillowcase since I have curly hair and that helps a lot too.
@lizanet I’m having crazy dandruff too!! It didn’t even occur to me it would be related!
Honestly (don’t hate me ladies) I’m feeling pretty good! I am one for the farthest along in the group (due 6/1 and almost 19 weeks along) so that may be why. I’m really happy to be solidly in the second trimester!
The only real symptoms I have are heartburn, which is daily but controlled with about half a tums. And lower back pain, my SIL got me a giant pregnancy pillow (leachco back and belly) for Christmas and that has been helping a lot. It’s weird tho, my belly isn’t very big at all, I didn’t think I’d need one so soon. I’ve also been craving donuts, but only at night when donuts are impossible to find. 🤷🏻♀️
@ladybird5617 I have been craving donuts at night too! Super annoying cause even if a donut shop were open I am sure it would not taste very good by night time.
I am 15+1 today and I don’t want to jinx myself but nausea is finally feeling better. Getting headaches more often now instead.
@lizanet I also have bad dandruff and tea tree oil shampoo was suggested to me since head and shoulders wasn’t working. I just bought some today so not sure if it’ll help but anything is worth trying now.
@JessiBride i will try that and @bbluemoo i will try tea tree oil too. I need to do something because this dandruff is ridiculous and the tangling of hair is even worse. When its not tangled up it looks nice
I think I might be having braxton hicks and its weirding me out. From what I am reading it's not that unusual for 19 weeks, which I will be tomorrow. I never had it with my daughter.
@kerco925 I had Braxton Hicks with DS from like 20 weeks on. I honestly didn’t realize what it was until way later on so it didn’t make me as nervous as it probably should have. Try drinking water or just walking/changing position and that usually helped me.
My acid reflux is slowly returning. 17 weeks in a few days. Nooooooo
It seems to have stopped. I only really felt it when I was standing up and since I didnt have it with DD, I could be wrong. My belly just felt tight on and off and mainly on one side. Maybe it was just the position of baby? I read that a lot of women start getting it around this time and its no big deal. But I feel like it's way too early to be feeling weird stuff.
@bbluemoo update on dandruff. Yestrday i did a hot jamaican castor oil treatment and it cleared my scalp up. I left it in for like 3 hours with a shower cap. I also used a scalp massager when washing my hair.
Bad headaches. I am pretty positive I’m drinking more than enough water but these headaches make me think otherwise. Some are debilitating and some have made me throw up. I have at least one a week that’s really bad and usually one every day or every other day that’s subtle. I think this has been going on since week 15-16. I’m 18w2d.
I’ve stopped wearing my contacts for the most part. I’ve taken Tylenol, sometimes with caffeine (per midwife suggestion).
Any other suggestions? Has anyone experienced this and have had a reason for the headaches? I remember a few weeks back where The Bump said this was a common symptom, so I’m trying not to worry myself (I’m a chronic worry-wart). But after todays headache, I’m a little panicky!
I’ve been up since 3 am because my hips are killing me. This happened with DS but I don’t remember it being this early and I never really found anything to help with it. I moved to the couch to try and sleep propped up so I wasn’t laying on my side but I’m still wide awake and my alarm is going off in an hour.
@chaos-and-coffee my low back is already pretty rough. I've been rotating on the giant exercise ball and in only 19w today. Definitely starting WAY earlier this go. Not sure if it's because we're already stretched out, or having two so close together but it is not fun.
@rothkristan I am in the same boat. I suffered chronic migraine before getting pregnant and they seemingly went away in the first trimester. My midwife warned they would come back in the second. All that helps me is to take Tylenol early. Don’t let it sit and wait hoping it will go away. The sooner you nip it in the bud the better. I also use either peppermint oil or tiger balm and the base of my neck with a heating pad. And try to keep up with the water. Caffeine and sugar are actually triggers for me and if I have very much of either it brings them on.
@rothkristan Headache here too. I find cold drinks, darker rooms, and quiet goes a long way to helping my Tylenol along. I know warm works better for other people, but cold helps me most. I agree with @MssyMmmy that medicating early rather than waiting makes a big difference in the efficacy of Tylenol (which is only a weak headache med for me on a good day).
@chaos-and-coffee Yup, all the pillows supporting me on all sides and between my thighs to keep my hips aligned while sleeping.
@rothkristan I get hormone based headaches that are severely affected by dehydration and sleep deprivation. They did decrease greatly by week 17 for me though. For all that every pregnancy has hurt the rest of my body more, my second trimester headaches have been less each time.
@kerco925 My BH start around 13 weeks, but slowly get more frequent and severe and are awful by third trimester. Having a few here and there now is totally normal for me. Full bladder and dehydration are both triggers for mine.
AFM-I thought my pelvis was doing OK for a couple of weeks there-it just turned out that not making the trek to bus stop twice a day, while baby wearing, and having two other adults around (my mom and also my husband was able to work from home for two weeks!) took a large physical load OFF of me. Now that it's back on, just parenting from 7-5 is causing considerable pain.
Also the heartburn has started. Seems less awful than second baby, but she was born with a massive head of long thick hair. Otherwise doing well, just growing out of my smallest maternity clothes!

At week 18 now and the round ligament pain has finally eased up but now I get so full super easily and I get a sharp pain on one side if I eat too much! It’s intense. Need to start eating smaller meals more often bc the discomfort is zero fun!
17 and a half weeks and I'm over being constipated 3 days per week. It triggers crazy Braxton Hicks and adds so much pressure in my gut when gas builds up too. All the water, metamucil, magnesium, and fiber don't help. Other than that, baby is kicking up a storm, I can hear the heartbeat at home with a fetoscope and pregnancy is relatively boring.

Anyone tried daily kiwi? Eating with peel can be extra helpful for constipation.
And gross levels of "perfectly normal" cervical fluid. Leaking out in clumps when I sit or stand. Sigh. Are we done yet, lol! Not that I'm serious. Full term healthy baby please.

I think I am getting a cold, I pray to God that I didnt catch the flu on Monday. I have the worst back pain oh and I have been getting foot cramps. WTH ! I had charlie horses with my daughter but not so early and on my calves not feet. I havent had too much RL pain in the past few days and I am hoping it continues to get better.
Anyone else absolutely constantly starving? I ate two lunches within the span of two hours and then had two oranges. By the time I got home I was starved and had a grilled cheese and chips, two graham crackers with peanut butter and now just made popcorn. Baby must be going through a growth spurt or something because holy crap.
@chaos-and-coffee me too! But I'm never hungry enough to eat a lot in one sitting. I eat a little something, feel full, and need to eat a little something again a short while later. I couldn't finish my dinner, but it's been 20 minutes and I'm hungry again.
